Solutions with pure radiation and gyratons in 3D massive gravity theories
Abstract: We find exact solutions of topologically massive gravity (TMG) and new massive gravity (NMG) in ${2+1}$ dimensions (3D) with an arbitrary cosmological constant, pure radiation, and gyratons, i.e., with possibly non-zero $T_{uu}$ and $T_{ux}$ in canonical coordinates. Since any `reasonable' geometry in 3D (i.e., admitting a null geodesic congruence) is either expanding Robinson-Trautman ($Θ\neq 0$)… ▽ More

Anomalous Dispersion in Gravity Theories
Abstract: A wave pulse (be it a gravitational wave or a light wave) undergoes anomalous dispersion in a vacuum in flat spacetimes with an even number of spatial dimensions even if all the frequencies move at the same speed. Such an anomalous dispersion does not occur in spacetimes with an odd number of spatial dimensions. We study various gravity theories and show that dispersion-free propagation is possibl… ▽ More

New Chiral Generalized Minimal Massive Gravity
Abstract: We study the generalized minimal massive gravity (GMMG) in Compere, Song and Strominger boundary conditions employing a semi-product of a Virasoro and a $\hat{u}(1)$ Kac-Moody current algebras as the asymptotic symmetry algebra. We calculate the entropy of BTZ black holes via the degeneracy of states belonging to a Warped-CFT. We compute the linearized energy excitations by using the representatio… ▽ More

Exact gyratons in higher and infinite derivative gravity
Abstract: We study solutions describing spinning null sources called gyratons in generic theories of gravity with terms that are quadratic in curvature and contain an arbitrary number of covariant derivatives. In particular, we show that the properties of pp-waves of the algebraic type III allow for extreme simplification of the field equations. It turns out that the resulting differential equations are exa… ▽ More

Einstein-Yang-Mills Theory: Gauge Invariant Charges and Linearization Instability
Abstract: We construct the gauge-invariant electric and magnetic charges in Yang-Mills theory coupled to cosmological General Relativity (or any other geometric gravity), extending the flat spacetime construction of Abbott and Deser. For non-vanishing background gauge fields, the charges receive non-trivial contribution from the gravity part. In addition, we study the constraints on the first order perturba… ▽ More

Impulsive waves in ghost free infinite derivative gravity in anti-de Sitter spacetime
Abstract: We study exact impulsive gravitational waves propagating in anti-de Sitter spacetime in the context of the ghost free infinite derivative gravity. We show that the source-free theory does not admit any AdS wave solutions other than that of Einstein's general relativity. The situation is significantly different in the presence of sources. We construct impulsive-wave solutions of the infinite deriva… ▽ More

Lee-Wald Charge and Asymptotic Behaviors of the Weyl-invariant Topologically Massive Gravity
Abstract: We apply the Lee-Wald covariant phase space method to the Weyl-invariant Topologically Massive Gravity and compute the corresponding on-shell conserved charges. By using appropriate decay conditions for the existing propagating modes in the near-horizon of a stationary black hole, we obtain the charges generating the asymptotic symmetries. We show that the charges are integrable and the (modified)… ▽ More

High temperature behavior of non-local observables in boosted strongly coupled plasma: A holographic study
Abstract: In this work, we perform a holographic analysis to study non local observables associated to a uniformly \textit{boosted} strongly coupled large $N$ thermal plasma in $d$-dimensions. In order to accomplish the holographic analysis, the appropriate dual bulk theory turns out to be $d+1$ dimensional \textit{boosted} AdS-Schwarzschild blackhole background. Exotic Massive Gravity: Causality and a Birkhoff-like Theorem
Abstract: We study the local causality issue via the Shapiro time-delay computations in the on-shell consistent exotic massive gravity in three dimensions. The theory shows time-delay as opposed to time-advance despite having a ghost at the linearized level both for asymptotically flat and anti-de Sitter spacetimes. We also prove a Birkhoff-like theorem: any solution with a hypersurface orthogonal non-null… ▽ More

$pp$-waves as exact solutions to ghost-free infinite derivative gravity
Abstract: We construct exact pp-wave solutions of ghost-free infinite derivative gravity and demonstrate that the sourceless theory does not bring any pp-wave solutions save for that of Einstein's gravity. These waves described in the Kerr-Schild form also solve the linearized field equations of the theory. Abstract: In this note, we discuss the gravitational memory effect in higher derivative and infinite derivative gravity theories and give the detailed relevant calculations whose results were given in our recent works. We show that the memory effect in higher derivative gravity takes the same form as in pure GR at large distances, whereas at small distances, the results are different. We also demonstrated t… ▽ More

Weak Field Limit of Infinite Derivative Gravity
Abstract: A form of infinite derivative gravity is free from ghost-like instabilities with improved small scale behavior. Graviton Mass and Memory
Abstract: Gravitational memory, a residual change, arises after a finite gravitational wave pulse interacts with free masses. We calculate the memory effect in massive gravity as a function of the graviton mass $(m_g)$ and show that it is discretely different from the result of general relativity: the memory is reduced not just via the usual expected Yukawa decay but by a numerical factor which survives eve… ▽ More

Topologically Massive Gravity: Anyon Scattering, Weyl-Gauging and Causality
Abstract: In this thesis, we studied the Topologically Massive Gravity (TMG) in two perspectives. Firstly, by using real scalar and abelian gauge fields, we built the Weyl-invariant extension of TMG which unifies cosmological TMG and Topologically Massive Electrodynamics (TME) with a Proca mass term. Here, we have demonstrated that the presence of (Anti)-de Sitter spaces as the background solution, spontane… ▽ More

Unitarity Problems in 3$D$ Gravity Theories
Abstract: We revisit the problem of the bulk-boundary unitarity clash in 2 + 1 dimensional gravity theories, which has been an obstacle in providing a viable dual two-dimensional conformal field theory for bulk gravity in anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. Chiral gravity, which is a particular limit of cosmological topologically massive gravity (TMG), suffers from pertur- bative log-modes with negative energie… ▽ More

Asymptotically flat black holes in 2+1 dimensions

Abstract: Cotton flow tends to evolve a given initial metric on a three manifold to a conformally flat one. Here we expound upon the earlier work on Cotton flow and study the linearized version of it around a generic initial metric by employing a modified form of the DeTurck trick. We show that the flow around the flat space, as a critical point, reduces to an anisotropic generalization of linearized KdV eq… ▽ More
