We investigate quantum phenomena in a system of three coupled microcavities each supporting regime of strong coupling with exciton resonance. The possibility of observing polariton blockade in a dimer and triple micropillar configuration is discussed. We identify the resonance conditions corresponding to the onset of the photon blockade. The discovered quantum effects allow using these systems as versatile sources of individual polaritons. Various manifestations of the quantum blockade can be tuned with the use of the pum** laser frequency. We demonstrate that the presence of the cascade coupling between pillars enhances manifestations of sub-Poissonian statistics. Application of the effective gauge field in the triangle configuration allows for manifestation of a collective antibunching effect. In particular, we identify conditions of a multimode blockade -- a phenomenon consisting in blocking of excitation of the state with $n$ particles distributed over multiple coupled modes. A new effect of quantum entanglement of a non-Hermitian dimer with a micropillar in an artificial magnetic field has been discovered, associated with the simultaneous manifestation of antibunching on the dimer, the micropillar associated with it, and the triple-micropillar.

The antibunching effect of polaritons in a microcavity dimer
Authors:

Abstract:
We are consistency considered two cases. Firstly, we consider exciton-photon statistic radiation from pillar microcavity. We obtained a photon antibunching and small polariton antibunching. Secondly, we use two strong-coupled pillar microcavities to achieve pronounced polariton antibunching. We observed the polariton blockade effect when use a polarion dimer.

A quantum behavior of the light emitted by exciton polaritons excited in a pillar semiconductor microcavity with embedded quantum well is investigated. Considering the bare excitons and photon modes as coupled quantum oscillators allows for an accurate accounting of the nonlinear and dissipative effects. In particular, using the method of quantum states presentation in a quantum phase space via quasiprobability functions (namely, a $P$-function and a Wigner function), we study the effect of the laser and the exciton-photon detuning on the second order correlation function of the emitted photons. We determine the conditions for the phenomena of bunching, giant bunching, and antibunching of the emitted light. In particular, we predict the effect of a giant bunching for the case of a large exciton to photon population ratio. Within the domain of parameters supporting a bistability regime we demonstrate the effect of bunching of photons.

Bosonic condensation of microcavity polaritons is accompanied by their relaxation from the ensemble of excited states into a single quantum state. The excess of energy is transferred to the crystal lattice that eventually involves heating of the structure. Creation of the condensate results in the local increase of the temperature which leads to the red shift of the exciton energy providing the mechanism for polariton self-trap**. By employing the driven-dissipative Gross-Pitaevskii model we predict a new type of a stable localized solution supported by the thermally-induced self-trap** in a one-dimensional microcavity structure. The predicted solution is of a sink-type i.e. it is characterized by the presence of converging density currents. We examine the spontaneous formation of these states from the white noise under spatially localized pum** and analyze the criteria for their stability. The collective bosonic polaron state described here may be considered as a toy model for studies of bosonic stars formed due to the self-gravity effect.
