Despite of the established evidence in favor of exergames for physical rehabilitation their use is limited in Pakistan. In our user study with game developers (N=62), majority (67.7%) of the participants believed that exergames' popularity will increase if cheap alternatives of body tracking devices are available. Perhaps, custom controllers can be used as an affordable alternate input source in exergames but the lack of hardware programming knowledge and shortage of experience in the embedded programming attribute to the little involvement of game developers (11.3% of the participants) in the area of exergames. This paper presents a library for the integration of Arduino based (open-source and low-cost) tailored controllers to be used as input source in Unity3D (most preferred game development engine by 88.7% participants) based exergames. The interface to the library proposes a flexible and easy structure for programming and serve as a template application for a range of exergames.

This paper examines the feasibility of demand-side cyberattacks on power grids launched via internet-connected high-power EV Charging Stations (EVCSs). By distorting power grid frequency and voltage, these attacks can trigger system-wide outages. Our case study focuses on Manhattan, New York, and reveals that such attacks will become feasible by 2030 with increased EV adoption. With a single EVCS company dominating Manhattan, compromising a single EVCS server raises serious power grid security concerns. These attacks can overload power lines and trip over-frequency (OF) protection relays, resulting in a power grid blackout. This study serves as a crucial resource for planning authorities and power grid operators involved in the EV charging infrastructure roll-out, highlighting potential cyberthreats to power grids stemming from high-power EVCSs.

Glaucoma is an eye disease that causes damage to the optic nerve, which can lead to visual loss and permanent blindness. Early glaucoma detection is therefore critical in order to avoid permanent blindness. The estimation of the cup-to-disc ratio (CDR) during an examination of the optical disc (OD) is used for the diagnosis of glaucoma. In this paper, we present the EDDense-Net segmentation network for the joint segmentation of OC and OD. The encoder and decoder in this network are made up of dense blocks with a grouped convolutional layer in each block, allowing the network to acquire and convey spatial information from the image while simultaneously reducing the network's complexity. To reduce spatial information loss, the optimal number of filters in all convolution layers were utilised. In semantic segmentation, dice pixel classification is employed in the decoder to alleviate the problem of class imbalance. The proposed network was evaluated on two publicly available datasets where it outperformed existing state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy and efficiency. For the diagnosis and analysis of glaucoma, this method can be used as a second opinion system to assist medical ophthalmologists.

Social coding platforms have revolutionized collaboration in software development, leading to using software bots for streamlining operations. However, The presence of open-source software (OSS) bots gives rise to problems including impersonation, spamming, bias, and security risks. Identifying bot accounts and behavior is a challenging task in the OSS project. This research aims to investigate bots' behavior in open-source software projects and identify bot accounts with maximum possible accuracy. Our team gathered a dataset of 19,779 accounts that meet standardized criteria to enable future research on bots in open-source projects. We follow a rigorous workflow to ensure that the data we collect is accurate, generalizable, scalable, and up-to-date. We've identified four types of bot accounts in open-source software projects by analyzing their behavior across 17 features in 5 dimensions. Our team created BotHawk, a highly effective model for detecting bots in open-source software projects. It outperforms other models, achieving an AUC of 0.947 and an F1-score of 0.89. BotHawk can detect a wider variety of bots, including CI/CD and scanning bots. Furthermore, we find that the number of followers, number of repositories, and tags contain the most relevant features to identify the account type.

The socially efficient deployment of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), e.g., rooftop solar, depends on the underlying retail electricity policies. Current debates on DER policies, including Net Energy Metering (NEM) variants, center around develo** value-reflective compensation policies that can expedite DER deployment while preventing potential cost shifts between DER adopters and non-adopters. However, these debates mostly ignore the temporally- and spatially- granular value of DERs, market failures (e.g., information asymmetry among DER stakeholders) and externalities (e.g., carbon-dioxide emissions). In this paper, we develop a game-theoretic approach with information asymmetry to examine efficiency implications of adopting granular DER compensation policies, e.g., value stacks and distributional locational marginal price, instead of NEM with flat retail rates. We show that granular compensation policies result in more efficient market outcomes than under NEM, even in the presence of information asymmetry, thus avoiding the need for interventions. Combined with granular DER compensation, carbon pricing provides the most accurate price signal to DER investors/aggregators, and leads to the highest social welfare.

In this work, we try to explore these models in EGB framework, kee** the observations from $GW170817$ on the speed of gravitational wave to be equal to the speed of light. This has direct implication on the non-minimal coupling to the Gauss-Bonnet invariant in the action. Thus, the effective potential gets new features. We have not only analysed the inflationary dynamics, but also the reheating dynamics and finally the corresponding energy spectrum of the gravitational wave.

Email services use spam filtering algorithms (SFAs) to filter emails that are unwanted by the user. However, at times, the emails perceived by an SFA as unwanted may be important to the user. Such incorrect decisions can have significant implications if SFAs treat emails of user interest as spam on a large scale. This is particularly important during national elections. To study whether the SFAs of popular email services have any biases in treating the campaign emails, we conducted a large-scale study of the campaign emails of the US elections 2020 by subscribing to a large number of Presidential, Senate, and House candidates using over a hundred email accounts on Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo. We analyzed the biases in the SFAs towards the left and the right candidates and further studied the impact of the interactions (such as reading or marking emails as spam) of email recipients on these biases. We observed that the SFAs of different email services indeed exhibit biases towards different political affiliations. We present this and several other important observations in this paper.

Unavailability of large training datasets is a bottleneck that needs to be overcome to realize the true potential of deep learning in histopathology applications. Although slide digitization via whole slide imaging scanners has increased the speed of data acquisition, labeling of virtual slides requires a substantial time investment from pathologists. Eye gaze annotations have the potential to speed up the slide labeling process. This work explores the viability and timing comparisons of eye gaze labeling compared to conventional manual labeling for training object detectors. Challenges associated with gaze based labeling and methods to refine the coarse data annotations for subsequent object detection are also discussed. Results demonstrate that gaze tracking based labeling can save valuable pathologist time and delivers good performance when employed for training a deep object detector. Using the task of localization of Keratin Pearls in cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma as a test case, we compare the performance gap between deep object detectors trained using hand-labelled and gaze-labelled data. On average, compared to `Bounding-box' based hand-labeling, gaze-labeling required $57.6\%$ less time per label and compared to `Freehand' labeling, gaze-labeling required on average $85\%$ less time per label.

Realizing the inflationary epoch driven by a pseudo-Nambu Goldstone boson (pNGB) could ensure the coveted flatness, and the sub-Planckian scales related to the dynamics of the paradigm. In this work, we have taken the most general form of such a scenario: Goldstone inflation proposed in \cite{croon}, and studied the model in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. Natural inflation is a limiting case of this model, is also studied here. The specific form of the EGB coupling gives ample opportunity to study the rich phenomenology associated with inflation as well as the reheating epoch. Predicted values of the inflationary observables, tensor to scalar ratio ($r$), and spectral index ($n_s$) are in good agreement with the recent observations from $Planck'18$ \cite{Planck2018}. Thus, in the framework of EGB one can resurrect the model, which otherwise needs quite a bit of fine tuning or diversion from the canonical domain as studied in \cite{Bhattacharya:2018xlw}, to survive in the standard cold inflationary scenario. Finally, the era of reheating is studied for different choice of model parameters.

Access to and affordability of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure are the two prominent barriers for EV adoption. While major efforts are underway in the United States to roll-out public EV charging infrastructure, persistent social disparities in EV adoption call for interventions. In this paper, we analyze the existing EV charging infrastructure across New York City (NYC) to identify such socio-demographic and transportation features that correlate with the current distribution of EV charging stations. Our results demonstrate that population density is not correlated with the density of EV chargers, hindering New York's EV adoption and decarbonization goals. On the contrary, the distribution of EV charging stations is heavily skewed against low-income, Black-identifying, and disinvested neighborhoods in NYC, however, positively correlated to presence of highways in a zip code. The results underscore the need for policy frameworks that incorporate equity and justice in the roll-out of EV charging infrastructure.

Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) can significantly affect the net social benefit in power systems, raising concerns pertaining to distributive justice, equity, and fairness. Electricity tariff and DERs share a symbiotic relationship whereby the design of the former directly impacts the economic efficiency and equity in the system. Current tariff design approaches suffer from opaque efficiency-equity trade-offs and are also agnostic of the externalities that affect both economic efficiency and equity. Therefore, this paper develops a justice-cognizant tariff design framework that improves the economic efficiency of tariff without sacrificing its distributional equity, and encompasses economic welfare, social costs of environmental and public health impacts, and socio-economic and demographic characteristics of electricity consumers. The proposed framework is based on a Single Leader Single Follower (SLSF) game incorporating a multi-objective optimization problem, and is evaluated on four different tariff structures. The SLSF game is reformulated as a Multi-Objective Problem with Equilibrium Constraints (MOPEC) and is solved by integrating the objective sum method for multi-objective optimization and Scholtes's relaxation technique for equilibrium constraints. We compare the economic efficiency and equity of the proposed framework using the 11-zone New York ISO and 7-bus Manhattan power networks. The results demonstrate that spatially- and temporally-granular tariffs ensure equity and economic efficiency at a lower energy burden to consumers.

Power producers can exhibit strategic behavior in electricity markets to maximize their profits. This behavior is more pronounced with the deregulation of distribution markets, which offers an opportunity for profit arbitrage between transmission and distribution (T&D) markets. However, the temporally distinct nature of these two markets introduces a significant risk in profit for such producers. This paper derives its motivation from the perspective of a strategic producer and develops a Single Leader Multi-Follower (SLMF) game for deriving its participation strategies in T&D markets, while accounting for different T&D coordination schemes based on the individual market Gate Closure Times (GCT). We compare and contrast joint and sequential market clearing models with regulated and deregulated distribution environments and evaluate the risk of producer by leveraging consistent and coherent risk measures. SLMF game is reformulated as a Mathematical Program with Equilibrium Constraints (MPEC) and is solved using the seminal Scholtes's relaxation scheme. We validate the efficacy of our model and solution approach via the case study carried out on the 11-zone New York ISO, and 7-bus Manhattan power networks, used as transmission and distribution markets, respectively.
