On non-tameness of the Ellis semigroup
Abstract: The Ellis semigroup of a dynamical system $(X,T)$ is tame if every element is the limit of a sequence (as opposed to a net) of homeomorphisms coming from the $T$ action. This topological property is related to the cardinality of the semigroup. Non-tame Ellis semigroups have a cardinality which is that of the power set of the continuum $2^{\mathfrak c}$.The semigroup admits a minimal bilateral idea… ▽ More

Almost automorphic and bijective factors of substitution shifts
Abstract: In this article we completely characterise constant length substitution shifts which have an almost automorphic factor, or which have a bijective substitution factor. On $K_0$-Groups for Substitution Tilings
Abstract: The group $C(\Om,\Z)/\E$ is determined for tilings which are invariant under a locally invertible primitive \sst\ which forces its \saum. In case the tiling may be obtained by the generalized dual method from a regular grid this group furnishes part of the $K_0$-group of the algebra of the tiling. Applied to Penrose tilings one obtains $K_0(\A_\tl)=\Z^8\oplus\Z$.

Gap Labelling for Schrödinger Operators on Quasiperiodic Tilings
Abstract: For a large class of tilings, including those which are obtained by the generalized dual method from regular grids, it is shown that their algebra is stably isomorphic to a crossed product with $\Z^d$. Penrose tilings belong to this class. This enlarges the class of tilings of which can be shown that a set of possible gap labels is completely determined by an invariant measure on the hull.

Non Commutative Geometry of Tilings and Gap Labelling
Abstract: To a given tiling a non commutative space and the corresponding C*-algebra are constructed. This includes the definition of a topology on the groupoid induced by translations of the tiling. The algebra is also the algebra of observables for discrete models of one or many particle systems on the tiling or its periodic identification. Its scaled ordered K_0-group furnishes the gap labelling of Sc… ▽ More
