We show that quantum corrections lead to a modification of the initial potential uplifting its value at the minimum, which can be interpreted as a cosmological constant/dark energy. We concentrate on the models of $α$-attractors and show that one can naturally get small values of the cosmological constant. In the model of quintessence, the same mechanism modifies the value of dark energy at the present time.

The usual Bogolyubov R-operation works in non-renormalizable theories in the same way as in renormalizable ones. However, in the non-renormalizable case, the counter-terms eliminating ultraviolet divergences do not repeat the structure of the original Lagrangian but contain new terms with a higher degree of fields and derivatives increasing from order to order of PT. If one does not aim to obtain finite off-shell Green functions but limits oneself only to the finiteness of the S-matrix, then one can use the equations of motion and drastically reduce the number of independent counter-terms. For example, it is possible to reduce all counter-terms to a form containing only operators with four fields and an arbitrary number of derivatives. And although there will still be infinitely many such counter-terms, in order to fix the arbitrariness of the subtraction procedure, one can normalize the on-shell 4-point amplitude, which must be known for arbitrary kinematics, plus the 6-point amplitude at one point. All other multiparticle amplitudes will be calculated unambiguously. Within the framework of perturbation theory, the number of independent counter-terms in a given order is limited, so does the number of normalization conditions. The constructed counter-terms are not absorbed into the normalization of a single coupling constant, the Lagrangian contains an infinite number of terms, but after fixing the arbitrariness, it allows one to obtain unambiguous predictions for observables.

In this paper, we have constructed quantum effective potentials and used them to study slow-roll inflationary cosmology. We derived the generalised RG equation for the effective potential in the leading logarithmic approximation and applied it to evaluate the potentials of the $T^2$ and $T^4$-models, which are often used in modern models of slow-roll inflation. We found that while the one-loop correction strongly affects the potential, breaking its original symmetry, the contribution of higher loops smoothes the behaviour of the potential. However, unlike the $φ^4$-case, we found that the effective potentials preserve spontaneous symmetry breaking when summing all the leading corrections. We calculated the spectral indices $n_s$ and $r$ for the effective potentials of both models and found that they are consistent with the observational data for a wide range of parameters of the models.

The RG equation for the effective potential in the leading log (LL) approximation is constructed which is valid for an arbitrary scalar field theory in 4 dimensions. The solution to this equation sums up the leading $\logφ$ contributions to all orders of perturbation theory. In general, this is the second order nonlinear partial differential equation, but in some cases it can be reduced to the ordinary one. For particular examples, this equation is solved numerically and the LL effective potential is constructed. The solution has a characteristic discontinuity replacing the Landau pole typical for the $φ^4$ theory. For a power-like potential no new minima appear due to the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism.

We consider UV divergences for the on-shell planar gluon-gluon scattering amplitudes in the gauge theory in arbitrary D-dimensions in the one-loop order. The amplitudes are evaluated using the standard Feynman diagram technique for several choices of external gluon polarizations. Using the Passarino - Veltman reduction, the expansion in terms of the scalar master integrals is constructed and their calculation is performed within dimensional regularization. The resulting expressions are confronted with existing results for various cases, including maximally supersymmetric theories in D=4, 6, 8, and 10 dimensions. One finds that, contrary to the D=4 case, in D=6 one-loop UV divergences cancel, while in D=8 and 10 the contributions of gauge, scalar and fermion loops have the same sign.

We analyse the UV divergences for the scattering amplitude in the Wess-Zumino SUSY model with the quartic superpotential. Within the superfield formalism, we calculate the corresponding Feynman diagrams and evaluate their leading divergences up to 4 loop order of PT. Then we construct recurrence relations that connect the leading UV divergences in subsequent orders of perturbation theory. These recurrence relations allow us to calculate the leading divergences in a pure algebraic way starting from the one loop contribution. We check that the obtained relations correctly reproduce the lower order diagrams evaluated explicitly. At last, we convert the recurrence relations into the RG equations that have integro-differential form. Solving these equations for a particular sequence of diagrams, we find out the high energy behaviour of the amplitude. We then argue that the full amplitude has a similar behaviour with the key feature of the existence of a pole in the s-channel corresponding to a state with a mass ~1/g, where g is the original dimensionfull coupling of the theory. We find out the this state is actually a ghost one similar to the Landau pole in scalar theory.

The renormalization procedure is proved to be a rigorous way to get finite answers in a renormalizable class of field theories. We claim, however, that it is redundant if one reduces the requirement of finiteness to S-matrix elements only and does not require finiteness of intermediate quantities like the off-shell Green functions. We suggest a novel view on the renormalization procedure. It is based on the usual BPHZ R-operation, which is equally applicable to any local QFT, renormalizable or not. The key point is the replacement of the multiplicative renormalization, used in renormalizable theories, by an operation when the renormalization constants depend on the fields and momenta that have to be integrated inside the subgraphs. This approach does not distinguish between renormalizable and non-renormalizable interactions and provides the basis for getting finite scattering amplitudes in both cases. The arbitrariness of the subtraction procedure is fixed by imposing a normalization condition on the scattering amplitude as a whole rather than on an infinite series of new operators appearing in non-renormalizable theories.
Using the property of locality of counter-terms, we get recurrence relations connecting leading, subleading, etc., UV divergences in all orders of PT in any local theory. This allows one to get generalized RG equations that have an integro-differential form and sum up the leading logarithms. This way one can cure the problem of violation of unitarity in non-renormalizable theories by summing up the leading asymptotics. We illustrate the basic features of our approach by several examples.
Our main statement is that non-renormalizable theories are self-consistent, they can be well treated within the usual BPHZ R-operation, and the arbitrariness can be fixed to a finite number of parameters just as in the renormalizable case.

In hep-th 1611.02179 it was also conjectured that a similar structure of integrals may reappear in d=6. We show that one can systematically, order by order in the number of loops, construct combinations of d=6 integrals with 1/(p^2)^2 propagators with an iterative structure similar to the d=4 case. Such combinations as a whole also respect dual conformal invariance but individual integrals may not.

Maximally supersymmetric field theories in various dimensions are believed to possess special properties due to extended supersymmetry. In four dimensions they are free from UV divergences but are IR divergent on shell, in higher dimensions, on the contrary, they are IR finite but UV divergent. In what follows we consider the four-point on-shell scattering amplitudes in D=6,8,10 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in the planar limit within the spinor-helicity and on shell supersymmetric formalism. We study the UV divergences and demonstrate how one can sum them over all orders of PT. Analyzing the R-operation we obtain the recursive relations and derive differential equations that sum all leading, subleading, etc., divergences in all loops generalizing the standard RG formalism for the case of nonrenormalizable interactions. We then perform the renormalization procedure which differs from the ordinary one in that the renormalization constant becomes the operator depending on kinematics. Solving the obtained RG equations for particular sets of diagrams analytically and for the general case numerically, we analyze their high energy behaviour and find out that while each term of PT increases as a power of energy the total sum behaves differently: in D=6 two partial amplitudes decrease with energy and the third one increases exponentially, while in D=8 and 10 the amplitudes possess an infinite number of periodic poles at finite energy.

We focus then on subtraction scheme dependence of the results and show that in full analogy with renormalizable theories the scheme dependence can be absorbed into the redefinition of the couplings. It is a mixture from the various gauginos and Higgsinos and can be bino-, Higgsino- or singlino-dominated. Singlino-dominated LSPs can have very low cross sections below the neutrino background from coherent neutrino scattering which is limiting the sensitivity of future direct DM search experiments. However, previous studies suggested that the combination of both, the spin-dependent (SD) and spin-independent (SI) searches are sensitive in complementary regions of parameter space, so considering both searches will allow to explore practically the whole parameter space of the NMSSM. In this letter, the different scenarios are investigated with a new scanning technique, which reveals that significant regions of the NMSSM parameter space cannot be explored, even if one considers both, SI and SD, searches.

The first part compiles the most up-to-date predictions of Higgs boson production cross sections and decay branching ratios, parton distribution functions, and off-shell Higgs boson production and interference effects. The second part discusses the recent progress in Higgs effective field theory predictions, followed by the third part on pseudo-observables, simplified template cross section and fiducial cross section measurements, which give the baseline framework for Higgs boson property measurements. The fourth part deals with the beyond the Standard Model predictions of various benchmark scenarios of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, extended scalar sector, Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and exotic Higgs boson decays. This report follows three previous working-group reports: Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002), Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 2. Namely, we discuss the chargino pair production with a further decay into the W-boson and the neutralino when the masses of the chargino and neutralino differ by 80-90 GeV. In this case, in the final state one has two Ws and missing E_T but no missing P_T. The produced neutralinos are just boosted along Ws. For a demonstration we consider the MSSM with non-universal gaugino masses. In this case, such events are quite probable in the region of parameter space where the lightest chargino and neutralino are mostly gauginos. The excess in the W production cross-section reach about 10 % over the Standard Model background. We demonstrate that the LHC experiments, which presently measure the WW production cross section at the 8 % level can probe chargino mass around 110 GeV within the suggested scenario, which is not accessible via other searches. If the precision of WW cross section measurement at the LHC will achieve the 3 % level, then it would probe chargino masses up to about 150 GeV within the no missing P_T scenario.

The leading divergences in a given order are the polynomials of Mandelstam variables. To be on the safe side, we check our analytical calculations by numerical ones applying the alpha-representation and the dedicated routines. Then we derive an analog of the RG equations for the leading pole that allows us to get the recursive relations and construct the generating procedure to obtain the polynomials at any order of (perturbation theory) PT. At last, we make an attempt to sum the PT series and derive the differential equation for the infinite sum. This equation possesses a fixed point which might be stable or unstable depending on the kinematics. Some consequences of these fixed points are discussed.

Maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories have several remarkable properties, among which are the cancellation of UV divergences, factorization of higher loop corrections and possible integrability. Much attention has been attracted to the N=4 D=4 SYM theory. The N=(1,1) D=6 SYM theory possesses similar properties but is nonrenomalizable and serves as a toy model for supergravity. We consider the on-shell four point scattering amplitude and analyze its perturbative expansion within the spin-helicity and superspace formalism. The integrands of the resulting diagrams coincide with those of the N=4 D=4 SYM and obey the dual conformal invariance. Contrary to 4 dimensions, no IR divergences on mass shell appear. We calculate analytically the leading logarithmic asymptotics in all loops. Their summation leads to a Regge trajectory which is calculated exactly. The leading powers of s are calculated up to six loops. Their summation is performed numerically and leads to a smooth function of s. The leading UV divergences are calculated up to 5 loops. The result suggests the geometrical progression which ends up in a finite expression. This leads us to a radical point of view on nonrenormalizable theories.

In the dark matter sector the two models are quite orthogonal: in the CMSSM the WIMP is largely a bino and requires large masses from the LHC constraints. In the NMSSM the WIMP has a large singlino component and is therefore independent of the LHC SUSY mass limits. The light NMSSM neutralino mass range is of interest for the hints concerning light WIMPs in the Fermi data. Such low mass WIMPs cannot be explained in the CMSSM. Furthermore, prospects for discovery of XENON1T and LHC at 14 TeV are given.

The recent discovery of a Higgs-like boson at the LHC with a mass of 126 GeV has revived the interest in supersymmetric models, which predicted a Higgs boson mass below 130 GeV long before its discovery. We compare systematically the allowed parameter space in the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) and the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Model (NMSSM) by minimizing the chi^2 function with respect to all known constraints from accelerators and cosmology using GUT scale parameters. For the CMSSM the Higgs boson mass at tree level is below the Z^0 boson mass and large radiative corrections are needed to obtain a Higgs boson mass of 126 GeV, which requires stop squark masses in the multi-TeV range. In contrast, for the NMSSM light stop quarks are allowed, since in the NMSSM at tree level the Higgs boson mass can be above the Z^0 boson mass from mixing with the additional singlet Higgs boson. Predictions for the scalar boson masses are given in both models with emphasis on the unique signatures of the NMSSM, where the heaviest scalar Higgs boson decays in the two lighter scalar Higgs bosons with a significant branching ratio, in which case one should observe double Higgs boson production at the LHC. Such a signal is strongly suppressed in the CMSSM. In addition, since the LSP is higgsino-like, Higgs boson decays into LSPs can be appreciable, thus leading to invisible Higgs decays.

As an example, the simplest four point amplitude is calculated in one and two loops in the planar limit. All answers are UV and IR finite and expressed in terms of logs and Polylogs of transcendentality level 2 at one loop, and 4 and 3 at two loops. The all loop asymptotical limit at high energy is obtained which exhibits the Regge type behaviour. The intercept is calculated in the planar limit and is equal to alpha(t)=1+\sqrt{g_{YM}^2 N_c|t|/32pi^3}.

The excluded regions in the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric SM (CMSSM) lead to gluinos excluded below 1270 GeV and dark matter candidates below 220 GeV for values of the scalar masses (m_0) below 1500 GeV. For large m_0 values the limits of the gluinos and the dark matter candidate are reduced to 970 GeV and 130 GeV, respectively. If a Higgs mass of 125 GeV is imposed in the fit, the preferred SUSY region is above this excluded region, but the size of the preferred region is strongly dependent on the assumed theoretical error.

The pure leptonic decay B_s -> mu mu is strongly suppressed in the Standard Model (SM), but can have large enhancements in Supersymmetry, especially at large values of tanbe. New limits on this decay channel from recent LHC data have been used to claim that these limits restrict the SUSY parameter space even more than the direct searches. However, direct searches are hardly dependent on tanbe, while BR(B_s -> mu mu) is proportional to tanbe^6. The relic density constraint requires large tanbe in a large region of the parameter space, which can lead to large values of B_s -> mu mu. Nevertheless, the experimental upper limit on BR(B_s -> mu mu) is not constraining the parameter space of the CMSSM more than the direct searches and the present Higgs limits, if combined with the relic density. We also observe SUSY parameter regions with negative interferences, where the B_s -> mu mu value is up to a factor three below the SM expectation, even at large values of tanbe.

In this paper we develop a supersymmetric version of unitarity cut method for form factors of operators from the chiral truncation of the the $\mathcal{N}=4$ stress-tensor current supermultiplet $T^{AB}$. The relation between the superform factor with supermomentum equals to zero and the logarithmic derivative of the superamplitude with respect to the coupling constant is discussed and verified at tree- and one-loop level for any MHV $n$-point ($n \geq 4$) superform factor involving operators from chiral truncation of the stress-tensor energy supermultiplet. The explicit $\mathcal{N}=4$ covariant expressions for n-point tree- and one-loop MHV form factors are obtained. As well, the ansatz for the two-loop three-point MHV superform factor is suggested in the planar limit, based on the reduction procedure for the scalar integrals suggested in our previous work. The different soft and collinear limits in the MHV sector at tree- and one-loop level are discussed.

We study the cross-section of heavy Higgs production at the LHC within the framework of the Constrained MSSM. It is not only enhanced by tan^2 beta but sometimes is also enhanced by the squark contribution. First, we consider the universal scenario within mSUGRA and find out that to get the desired enhancement one needs large negative values of A_0, which seems to be incompatible with the b->s gamma decay rate. To improve the situation, we release the unification requirement in the Higgs sector. Then it becomes possible to satisfy all requirements simultaneously and enhance the squark contribution. The latter can gain a factor of several units increasing the overall cross-section which, however, is still smaller than the cross-section of the associated H b bbar production. We consider also some other consequences of the chosen benchmark point.

For all the objects we observe the exponentiation of the IR divergences with two anomalous dimensions: the cusp anomalous dimension and the collinear anomalous dimension. For the IR finite parts we obtain a similar situation as for the gluon scattering amplitudes, namely, apart from the case of $W^{AB}$ and $\mathcal{K}$ the finite part has some remainder function which we calculate up to the second order. It involves the generalized Goncharov polylogarithms of several variables. All the answers are expressed through the integrals related to the dual conformal invariant ones which might be a signal of integrable structure standing behind the form factors.

Explicit cancellation of the infrared divergencies in properly defined inclusive cross-sections is demonstrated first in a toy model example of "conformal QED" and then in the real ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory. We give the full-length details both for the calculation of the real emission and for the diagrams with splitting in initial and final states. The finite parts for some inclusive differential cross-sections are presented in an analytical form. In general, contrary to the virtual corrections, they do not reveal any simple structure. An example of the finite part containing just the log functions is presented. The dependence of inclusive cross-section on the external scale related to the definition of asymptotic states is discussed.

We find out that this possibility can be realized in the so-called focus-point region of parameter space. The mass degeneracy of higgsino-like chargino and two higgsino-like neutralinos is the necessary condition for a long lifetime. It requires the fine-tuning of parameters, but being a single additional constraint in the whole parameter space it can be fulfilled in the Constrained MSSM along the border line where radiative electroweak symmetry breaking fails. In a narrow band close to the border line the charginos are long-lived particles. The cross-sections of their production and co-production at the LHC via electroweak interaction reach a few tenth of pb.

Applying the algorithm of perturbative adjustments of the couplings we construct a family of theories which are conformal up to 3 loops in the non-planar case and up to 4 loops in the planar one. We found particular solutions in the planar case when the conformal condition seems to be exhausted in the one loop order. Some of them happen to be unitary equivalent to the real beta-deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory, while others are genuine. Two regions of interest are the co-annihilation region with light staus, and the region with large negative trilinear scalar coupling A distinguished by light stops. The phenomenology of long-living superparticles is briefly discussed.

Abstract:
We demonstrate how one can construct renormalizable perturbative expansion in formally nonrenormalizable higher dimensional field theories. It is based on $1/N_f$-expansion and results in a logarithmically divergent perturbation theory in arbitrary high space-time dimension. First, we consider a simple example of $N$-component scalar filed theory and then extend this approach to Abelian and non-…

We demonstrate how one can construct renormalizable perturbative expansion in formally nonrenormalizable higher dimensional field theories. It is based on $1/N_f$-expansion and results in a logarithmically divergent perturbation theory in arbitrary high space-time dimension. First, we consider a simple example of $N$-component scalar filed theory and then extend this approach to Abelian and non-Abelian gauge theories with $N_f$ fermions. In the latter case, due to self-interaction of non-Abelian fields the proposed recipe requires some modification which, however, does not change the main results. The resulting effective coupling is dimensionless and is running in accordance with the usual RG equations. The corresponding beta function is calculated in the leading order and is nonpolynomial in effective coupling. It exhibits either UV asymptotically free or IR free behaviour depending on the dimension of space-time. The original dimensionful coupling plays a role of a mass and is also logarithmically renormalized. We analyze also the analytical properties of a resulting theory and demonstrate that in general it acquires several ghost states with negative and/or complex masses. In the former case, the ghost state can be removed by a proper choice of the coupling. As for the states with complex conjugated masses, their contribution to physical amplitudes cancels so that the theory appears to be unitary.

Conformal Invariance = Finiteness and Beta Deformed N=4 SYM Theory
Authors:

Abstract:
We claim that if by a choice of the couplings the theory can be made conformally invariant (vanishing of the beta functions) it is automatically finite and vice versa. This is demonstrated by explicit example in supersymmetric gauge theory. The formalism is then applied to the beta deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory and it is shown that the requirement of conformal invariance = finiteness can be a…

This is demonstrated by explicit example in supersymmetric gauge theory. The formalism is then applied to the beta deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory and it is shown that the requirement of conformal invariance = finiteness can be achieved for any complex parameter of deformations.

Light stops in the MSSM parameter space

Abstract:
We consider the regions of the MSSM parameter space where the top squarks become light and even may be the LSP. This happens when the triple scalar coupling A becomes very big compared to m_0. We show that in this case the requirement that the LSP is neutral imposes noticeable constraint on the parameter space excluding low m_0 and m_{1/2} similar to constraint from the Higgs mass limit. In some…

In some cases these constraints overlap. This picture takes place in a wide region of \tanβ. In a narrow band close to the border line the stops are long-lived particles and decay into quarks and neutralino (chargino). The cross-section of their production at LHC via gluon fusion mechanism in this region may reach a few pb.

Abstract:
Review of recent developments in attempts to go beyond the Standard Model is given. We concentrate on three main unresolved problems: mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking, expected new physics at the TeV scale (mainly SUSY) and the origin of the Dark matter.

Prospects for ATLAS observation of a SUSY-like signal from two gluinos are investigated within a certain region of the mSUGRA parameter space, where the cross section of the two gluinos production via gluon-gluon fusion is estimated at a rather high level of 13 pb. The event selection trigger uses a very clear signature of the process (4 jets + 4 muons + up to 4 secondary vertices topology) when final decay products of each gluino are b-anti-b and muon-anti-muon pairs and the lightest SUSY particle, the neutralino. Rather high transverse missing energy carried away by two neutralinos is an essential signature of the event and also allows the relevant Standard Model background to be reduced significantly. The generation and reconstruction processes are performed by means of the ATLAS common software framework ATHENA.
