We recently proposed a spontaneous A$_{4}$ flavor symmetry breaking scheme implemented in a warped extra dimensional setup to explain the observed pattern of quark and lepton masses and mixings. The main features of this choice are the explanation of fermion mass hierarchies by wave function overlaps, the emergence of tribimaximal (TBM) neutrino mixing and zero quark mixing at the leading order and the absence of tree-level gauge mediated flavor violation. Quark mixing and deviations from TBM neutrino mixing are induced by the presence of bulk A$_4$ flavons, which allow for "cross-brane" interactions and a "cross-talk" between the quark and neutrino sectors. In this work, we study the constraints associated with the recent measurements of $θ_{13}\approx 9^\circ$ by RENO and Daya Bay, forcing every model that predicts TBM neutrino mixing to account for the significant deviation of $θ_{13}$ from 0, while kee** the values of $θ_{12}$ and $θ_{23}$ close to their central experimental values. We then proceed to study in detail the RS-A$_4$ contributions to $μ\to e,3e$, generated at the tree level by virtue of anomalous $Z$ couplings. These couplings arise from gauge and fermionic KK mixing effects after electroweak symmetry breaking. Since the experimental sensitivity for $BR(μ\to e,3e)$ is expected to increase by five orders of magnitude within the next decade, it is shown that the RS-A$_4$ lepton sector can be significantly constrained. Finally, we show that when "cross-brane" interactions are turned off, the $Z$ couplings are protected against all anomalous contributions and a strong correlation between $θ_{13}$ and the deviation from maximality of $θ_{23}$ is found.

Invoking an initial symmetry between the time $ t $ and some extra spatial dimension $ y $, we discuss a novel scenario where the dynamical formation of the 4-dim brane and its cosmological evolution are induced simultaneously by a common $ t<->y $ symmetry breaking mechanism. The local maximum of the underlying scalar potential is mapped onto a 'watershed' curve in the $ (t,y) $ plane; the direction tangent to this curve is identified as the cosmic time, whereas the perpendicular direction serves locally as the extra spatial dimension. Special attention is devoted to the so-called slinky configurations, whose brane cosmology is characterized by a decaying cosmological constant along the watershed curve. Such a slinky solution is first constructed within a simplified case where the watershed is constrained by $ y = 0 $. The physical requirements for a slinky configuration to generate a realistic model of cosmological evolution are then discussed in a more elaborated framework.

Suppression of flavor violation in an A4 warped extra dimensional model

In an attempt to simultaneously explain the observed masses and mixing patterns of both quarks and leptons, we recently proposed a model (JHEP08(2010)115) based on the non abelian discrete flavor group A4, implemented in a custodial RS setup with a bulk Higgs. We showed that the standard model flavor structure can be realized within the zero mode approximation (ZMA), with nearly tribimaximal (TBM) neutrino mixing and a realistic CKM matrix with rather mild assumptions. An important advantage of this framework with respect to flavor anarchic models is the vanishing of the dangerous tree level KK gluon contribution to ε_K and the suppression of the new physics one loop contributions to the neutron EDM, ε'/ε, b->sγand Higgs mediated flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) processes. These results are obtained beyond the ZMA, in order to account for the the full flavor structure and mixing of the zero modes and first Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes of all generations. The resulting constraints on the KK mass scale are shown to be significantly relaxed compared to the flavor anarchic case, showing explicitly the role of non abelian discrete flavor symmetries in relaxing flavor violation bounds within the RS setup. As a byproduct of our analysis we also obtain the same contributions for the custodial anarchic case with two SU(2)_R doublets for each fermion generation.

We recently proposed a spontaneous A4 flavor symmetry breaking scheme implemented in a warped extra dimensional setup to explain the observed pattern of quark and lepton masses and mixings. The quark mixing is induced by bulk A4 flavons mediating "cross-brane" interactions and a "cross-talk" between the quark and neutrino sectors. In this work we explore the phenomenology of RS-A4 and systematically obtain bounds on the Kaluza-Klein (KK) mass scale implied by flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) processes. In particular, we study the constraints arising from Re(ε'/ε_K), b->sγ, the neutron EDM and Higgs mediated FCNCs, while the tree level contribution to ε_K through a KK gluon exchange vanishes. We find an overall lower bound on the Kaluza-Klein mass scale M_{KK} > 1.3 TeV from FCNCs, induced by b->sγ, differently from flavor anarchic models. This bound is still weaker than the bound M_{KK} > 4.6 TeV induced by Zb_L\bar{b}_L in RS-A4. The little CP problem, related to the largely enhanced new physics contributions to the neutron EDM in flavor anarchic models, is absent. The subtleties of having the Higgs and flavons in the bulk are taken into account and final predictions are derived in the complete three-generation case.

We propose a spontaneous A4 flavor symmetry breaking scheme implemented in a warped extra dimensional setup to explain the observed pattern of quark and lepton masses and mixings. The main advantages of this choice are the explanation of fermion mass hierarchies by wave function overlaps, the emergence of tribimaximal neutrino mixing and zero quark mixing at the leading order and the absence of tree-level gauge mediated flavor violations. Quark mixing is induced by the presence of bulk flavons, which allow for cross-brane interactions and a cross-talk between the quark and neutrino sectors, realizing the spontaneous symmetry breaking pattern A4 --> nothing first proposed in [X.G.\,He, Y.Y.\,Keum, R.R.\,Volkas, JHEP{0604}, 039 (2006)]. We show that the observed quark mixing pattern can be explained in a rather economical way, including the CP violating phase, with leading order cross-interactions, while the observed difference between the smallest CKM entries V_{ub} and V_{td} must arise from higher order corrections. We briefly discuss bounds on the Kaluza-Klein scale implied by flavor changing neutral current processes in our model and show that the residual little CP problem is milder than in flavor anarchic models.
