This research paper presents AMaizeD: An End to End Pipeline for Automatic Maize Disease Detection, an automated framework for early detection of diseases in maize crops using multispectral imagery obtained from drones. A custom hand-collected dataset focusing specifically on maize crops was meticulously gathered by expert researchers and agronomists. The dataset encompasses a diverse range of maize varieties, cultivation practices, and environmental conditions, capturing various stages of maize growth and disease progression. By leveraging multispectral imagery, the framework benefits from improved spectral resolution and increased sensitivity to subtle changes in plant health. The proposed framework employs a combination of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) as feature extractors and segmentation techniques to identify both the maize plants and their associated diseases. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the framework in detecting a range of maize diseases, including powdery mildew, anthracnose, and leaf blight. The framework achieves state-of-the-art performance on the custom hand-collected dataset and contributes to the field of automated disease detection in agriculture, offering a practical solution for early identification of diseases in maize crops advanced machine learning techniques and deep learning architectures.

Abstract:
Medium- and high-entropy alloys based on the CrCoNi-system have been shown to display outstanding strength, tensile ductility and fracture toughness (damage-tolerance properties), especially at cryogenic temperatures. Here we examine the JIc and (back-calculated) KJIc fracture toughness values of the face-centered cubic, equiatomic CrCoNi and CrMnFeCoNi alloys at 20 K. At flow stress values of ~1.…

At flow stress values of ~1.5 GPa, crack-initiation KJIc toughnesses were found to be exceptionally high, respectively 235 and 415 MPa(square-root)m for CrMnFeCoNi and CrCoNi, with the latter displaying a crack-growth toughness Kss exceeding 540 MPa(square-root)m after 2.25 mm of stable cracking, which to our knowledge is the highest such value ever reported. Characterization of the crack-tip regions in CrCoNi by scanning electron and transmission electron microscopy reveal deformation structures at 20 K that are quite distinct from those at higher temperatures and involve heterogeneous nucleation, but restricted growth, of stacking faults and fine nano-twins, together with transformation to the hexagonal closed-packed phase. The coherent interfaces of these features can promote both the arrest and transmission of dislocations to generate respectively strength and ductility which strongly contributes to sustained strain hardening. Indeed, we believe that these nominally single-phase, concentrated solid-solution alloys develop their fracture resistance through a progressive synergy of deformation mechanisms, including dislocation glide, stacking-fault formation, nano-twinning and eventually in situ phase transformation, all of which serve to extend continuous strain hardening which simultaneously elevates strength and ductility (by delaying plastic instability), leading to truly exceptional resistance to fracture.

In 1999, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allocated 75 MHz in the 5.9 GHz ITS Band (5850-5925 MHz) for use by Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) to facilitate information transfer between equipped vehicles and roadside systems. This allocation for DSRC in the ITS band has been a co-primary allocation while the band is shared with the Fixed Satellite Service (FSS), fixed microwave service, amateur radio services and other Federal users authorized by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). In recent time, Cellular V2X (C-V2X), introduced in 3GPP Release 14 LTE standard, has received significant attention due to its perceived ability to deliver superior performance with respect to vehicular safety applications. There is a strong momentum in the industry for C-V2X to be considered as a viable alternative to DSRC and accordingly, to operate in the ITS spectrum. In another recent notice, the FCC is soliciting input for a proposed rulemaking to open up more bandwidth for unlicensed Wi-Fi devices, mainly based on the 802.11ac standard. The FCC plans to work with the Department of Transportation (DoT), and the automotive and communications industries to evaluate potential sharing techniques in the ITS band between DSRC and Wi-Fi devices. This paper analyzes the expected scenarios that might emerge from FCC and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulation options and identifies the technical challenge associated with each scenario. We also provide a literature survey and find that many of resulting technical challenges remain open research problems that need to be addressed. We conclude that the most challenging issue is related to the interoperability between DSRC and C-V2X in the 5.9 GHz band and the detection and avoidance of harmful adjacent and co-channel interference.

The goal of Text-to-Speech (TTS) synthesis in a particular language is to convert arbitrary input text to intelligible and natural sounding speech. However, for a particular language like Hindi, which is a highly confusing language (due to very close spellings), it is not an easy task to identify errors/mistakes in input text and an incorrect text degrade the quality of output speech hence this paper is a contribution to the development of high quality speech synthesis with the involvement of Spellchecker which generates spell suggestions for misspelled words automatically. Involvement of spellchecker would increase the efficiency of speech synthesis by providing spell suggestions for incorrect input text. Furthermore, we have provided the comparative study for evaluating the resultant effect on to phonetic text by adding spellchecker on to input text.
