We report the magnetic properties of the for-the-first-time synthesised Lu2Ir2O7 and Er2Ir2O7 single-crystals. The paper is focused on the robust ferromagnetic component of magnetisation present in the material with the antiferromagnetically ordered state of the all-in-all-out (AIAO) type, and is discussed in the framework of AIAO and AOAI domains and interfaces on the geometrically frustrated lattice.

We present ambient and high-pressure electrical transport and structural properties of recently discovered magnetic Weyl semimetal PrAlGe. Electrical resistivity at ambient pressure shows an anomaly at $T_C$ = 15.1 K related to the ferromagnetic transition. Anomalous Hall effect (AHE) is observed below $T_C$. We observe a 1.4 K/GPa increase of $T_C$ with pressure, resulting in $T_C$ $\approx$ 47 K at 23.0 GPa. Strong competition between Lorentz force and spin-scattering mechanisms suppressed by magnetic field is deduced from the magnetoresistance measurements under pressure. As in the ambient pressure case, the AHE is found to be present below $T_C$ up to the highest applied pressure. We observe a clear anomaly in the pressure dependence of $T_C$, magnetoresistance and Hall effect at 12.5 GPa suggesting the occurrence of a pressure-induced electronic transition at this pressure. X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiment under pressure revealed the lattice structure to be stable up to $\sim$19.6 GPa with the absence of any symmetry changing structural phase transition from the initial $I4_1md$ structure. Careful analysis of the pressure dependent XRD data reveal an isostructural transition near 11 GPa. Observed isostructural transition may be related to the pressure-induced electronic transition deduced from the magnetoresistance and Hall effect data.

Type-II multiferroics, where spin interactions induce a ferroelectric polarization, are interesting for new device functionalities due to large magnetoelectric coupling. We report on a new type of multiferroicity in the quadruple-perovskite $\text{BiMn}_{\text{3}}\text{Cr}_{\text{4}}\text{O}_{\text{12}}$, where an antiferromagnetic phase is induced by the structural change at the ferroelectric phase transition. The displacive nature of the ferroelectric phase transition at 125 K, with a crossover to an order-disorder mechanism, is evidenced by a polar soft phonon in the THz range and a central mode. Dielectric and pyroelectric studies show that the ferroelectric critical temperature corresponds to the previously reported Néel temperature of the $\text{Cr}^{\text{3+}}$ spins. An increase in ferroelectric polarization is observed below 48 K, coinciding with the Néel temperature of the $\text{Mn}^{\text{3+}}$ spins. This increase in polarization is attributed to an enhanced magnetoelectric coupling, as no change in the crystal symmetry below 48 K is detected from infrared and Raman spectra.

A comprehensive study of magnetocrystalline anisotropy of a layered van-der-Waals ferromagnet VI3 was performed. We measured angular dependences of the torque and magnetization with respect to the direction of the applied magnetic field within the "ac" plane perpendicular to and within the basal ab plane, respectively. A two-fold butterfly-like signal was detected by magnetization in the perpendicular "ac" plane. This signal symmetry remains conserved throughout all magnetic regimes as well as through the known structural transition down to the lowest temperatures. The maximum of the magnetization signal and the resulting magnetization easy axis is significantly tilted from the principal c axis by ~40°. The close relation of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy to the crystal structure was documented. In contrast, a two-fold-like angular signal was detected in the paramagnetic region within the ab plane in the monoclinic phase, which transforms into a six-fold-like signal below the Curie temperature TC. With further cooling, another six-fold-like signal with an angular shift of ~30° grows approaching TFM. Below TFM, in the triclinic phase, the original six-fold-like signal vanishes, being replaced by a secondary six-fold-like signal with an angular shift of ~30°.

Evolution of magnetism in single crystals of the van der Waals compound VI3 in external pressure up to 7.3 GPa studied by measuring magnetization and ac magnetic susceptibility is reported. Four magnetic phase transitions, at T1 = 54.5 K, T2 = 53 K, TC = 49.5 K, and TFM = 26 K, respectively have been observed at ambient pressure. The first two have been attributed to the onset of ferromagnetism in specific crystal-surface layers. The bulk ferromagnetism is characterized by the magnetic ordering transition at Curie temperature TC and the transition between two different ferromagnetic phases TFM, accompanied by a structure transition from monoclinic to triclinic symmetry upon cooling. The pressure effects on magnetic parameters were studied with three independent techniques. TC was found to be almost unaffected by pressures up to 0.6 GPa whereas TFM increases rapidly with increasing pressure and reaches TC at a triple point at ~ 0.85 GPa. At higher pressures, only one magnetic phase transition is observed moving to higher temperatures with increasing pressure to reach 99 K at 7.3 GPa. In contrast, the low-temperature bulk magnetization is dramatically reduced by applying pressure (by more than 50% at 2.5 GPa) suggesting a possible pressure-induced reduction of vanadium magnetic moment. We discussed these results in light of recent theoretical studies to analyze exchange interactions and provide how to increase the Curie temperature of VI3.

In this paper, we report the results of an ambient and high pressure study of a 5f-electron ferromagnet URhGa. The work is focused on measurements of magnetic and thermodynamic properties of a single crystal sample and on the construction of the p-T phase diagram. Diamond anvil cells were employed to measure the magnetization and electrical resistivity pressures up to ~ 9 GPa. At ambient pressure, URhGa exhibits collinear ferromagnetic ordering of uranium magnetic moments μU ~ 1.1 μB (at 2 K) aligned along the c-axis of the hexagonal crystal structure below the Curie temperature TC = 41K. With the application of pressure up to 5GPa the ordering temperature TC initially increases whereas the saturated moment slightly decreases. The rather unexpected evolution is put in the context of the UTX family of compounds.

Magnetization and specific heat measurements on a UIrSi3 single crystal reveal Ising-like antiferromagnetism below T$_N$ = 41.7 K with easy magnetization direction along the c-axis of tetragonal structure. The antiferromagentic ordering is suppressed by magnetic fields > H$_c$ (μ$_0$H$_c$ = 7.3 T at 2 K) applied along the c-axis. The first-order metamagnetic transition at H$_c$ exhibits asymmetric hysteresis reflecting a slow reentry of the complex ground-state antiferromagnetic structure with decreasing field. The hysteresis narrows with increasing temperature and vanishes at 28 K. A second-order metamagnetic transition is observed at higher temperatures. The point of change of the order of transition in the established H-T magnetic phase diagram is considered as the tricritical point (at T$_{tc}$ = 28 K and μ$_0$H$_{tc}$ = 5.8 T). The modified-Curie-Weiss-law fits of temperature dependence of the a- and c-axis susceptibility provide opposite signs of Weiss temperatures, Θ$_p^a$ ~ -51 K and Θ$_p^c$ ~ +38 K, respectively. This result and the small value of μ$_0$H$_c$ contrasting to the high T$_N$ indicate competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions responsible for the complex antiferromagnetic ground state. The simultaneous electronic-structure calculations focused on the total energy of ferromagentic and various antiferromagnetic states, the U magnetic moment and magnetocrystalline anisotropy provide results consistent with experimental findings and the suggested physical picture of the system.

In this paper, we report the results of a high pressure study of the itinerant 5f-electron ferromagnet UCoGa. The work is focused on probing the expected ferromagnet-to-paramagnet quantum phase transition induced by high pressure and on the general features of the P-T(-H) phase diagram. Diamond anvil cells were employed to measure the magnetization and electrical resistivity under pressures up to ~ 10 GPa.At ambient pressure, UCoGa exhibits collinear ferromagnetic ordering of uranium magnetic moments μU ~ 0.74 μB (at 2 K) aligned along the c-axis of the hexagonal crystal structure below Curie temperature TC = 48K. With the application of pressure, gradual decrease of both, TC and the saturated magnetic moment, has been observed up to pressures ~ 6 GPa. This is followed by a sharp drop of magnetic moment and a sudden disappearance of the magnetic order at the pressure of 6.5 GPa, suggesting a first-order phase transition, as expected for a clean system. The low temperature power law dependence of the electrical resistivity shows distinct anomalies around the ~ 6 GPa, consistent with the pressure evolution of the magnetic moment and the ordering temperature. The tricritical point of the UCoGa phase diagram is located at approximately ~ 30 K and ~ 6 GPa.
