Stringent constraints from the dark matter (DM) direct detection experiments can be naturally evaded for a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) DM. We propose a realization of pNGB DM in the context of a left-right symmetric model, wherein the neutrinos are pseudo-Dirac in nature. The Dirac mass term for neutrinos arises from two-loop quantum corrections, whereas the Majorana mass terms are generated from Planck-induced corrections. This class of model also provides a parity solution to the strong CP problem without the need for an axion. We show an interesting correlation between the lifetime of the DM and the mass-squared differences between active and sterile neutrinos while maintaining a solution to the strong CP problem.

We propose a simple extension to the Standard Model, wherein neutrinos naturally attain small Majorana masses through a one-loop radiative mechanism featuring particles within the loops characterized by milli-charges. Unlike the conventional scotogenic model, our approach avoids imposing a discrete symmetry or expanding the gauge sector. The minuscule electric charges ensure the stability of the lightest particle within the loop as a viable dark matter candidate. Our investigation systematically scrutinizes the far-reaching phenomenological implications arising from these minuscule charges.

In this paper we focus on continuous univariate probability distributions, like McKay distributions, $K$-distribution, generalized inverse Gaussian distribution and generalised McKay distributions, with support $[0,\infty),$ which are related to modified Bessel functions of the first and second kinds and in most cases we show that they belong to the class infinitely divisible distributions, self-decomposable distributions, generalized gamma convolutions and hyperbolically completely monotone densities. Some of the results are known, however the proofs are new and we use special functions technique. Integral representations of quotients of Tricomi hypergeometric functions as well as of quotients of Gaussian hypergeometric functions, or modified Bessel functions of the second kind play an important role in our study. In addition, by using a different approach we rediscover a Stieltjes transform representation due to Hermann Hankel for the product of modified Bessel functions of the first and second kinds and we also deduce a series of new Stieltjes transform representations for products, quotients and their reciprocals concerning modified Bessel functions of the first and second kinds. By using these results we obtain new infinitely divisible modified Bessel distributions with Laplace transforms related to modified Bessel functions of the first and second kind. Moreover, we show that the new Stieltjes transform representations have some interesting applications and we list some open problems which may be of interest for further research. In addition, we present a new proof via the Pick function characterization theorem for the infinite divisibility of the ratio of two gamma random variables and we present some new Stieltjes transform representations of quotients of Tricomi hypergeometric functions.

Addressing the issue of submerged underwater trash is crucial for safeguarding aquatic ecosystems and preserving marine life. While identifying debris present on the surface of water bodies is straightforward, assessing the underwater submerged waste is a challenge due to the image distortions caused by factors such as light refraction, absorption, suspended particles, color shifts, and occlusion. This paper conducts a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art architectures and on the existing datasets to establish a baseline for submerged waste and trash detection. The primary goal remains to establish the benchmark of the object localization techniques to be leveraged by advanced underwater sensors and autonomous underwater vehicles. The ultimate objective is to explore the underwater environment, to identify, and remove underwater debris. The absence of benchmarks (dataset or algorithm) in many researches emphasizes the need for a more robust algorithmic solution. Through this research, we aim to give performance comparative analysis of various underwater trash detection algorithms.

This paper is an attempt to mitigate the beam squint happening due to frequency-dependent phase shifts in the wideband beamforming scenario, specifically in radar applications. The estimation of the direction of arrival is significant for precise target detection in radars. The undesirable beam squint effect due to the phase shift-only mechanism in conventional phased array systems, which becomes exacerbated when dealing with wide bandwidth signals, is analyzed for a large set of steering angles in this paper. An optimum baseband delay combined with the phase shift technique is proposed for wideband radar beamforming to mitigate beam squint effectively. This technique has been demonstrated to function properly with 1-GHz carrier frequency for signals with wide bandwidths of up to +/-250MHz and for steering angles ranging from 0 to 90 degrees.

The Cadmium Zinc Telluride Imager (CZTI) aboard AstroSat has good sensitivity to Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs), with close to 600 detections including about 50 discoveries undetected by other missions. However, CZTI was not designed to be a GRB monitor and lacks localisation capabilities. We introduce a new method of localising GRBs using "shadows" cast on the CZTI detector plane due to absorption and scattering by satellite components and instruments. Comparing the observed distribution of counts on the detector plane with simulated distributions with the AstroSat Mass Model, we can localise GRBs in the sky. Our localisation uncertainty is defined by a two-component model, with a narrow Gaussian component that has close to 50% probability of containing the source, and the remaining spread over a broader Gaussian component with an 11.3 times higher $σ$. The width ($σ$) of the Gaussian components scales inversely with source counts. We test this model by applying the method to GRBs with known positions and find good agreement between the model and observations. This new ability expands the utility of CZTI in the study of GRBs and other rapid high-energy transients.

Search for one dimensional (1D) van der Waals materials has become an urgent need to meet the demand as building blocks for high performance, miniaturized, lightweight device applications. Polyyne, a 1D atomic chain of carbon is the thinnest and strongest allotrope of carbon, showing promising applications in new generation low dimensional devices due to the presence of a band gap. A system of two carbon chains held together by van der Waals interaction has been theoretically postulated and shows band gap tunability under structural changes which finds applications in the realms of resistive switching and spintronics. In this study, we use first principles Density Functional Theory (DFT) to show a sharp semiconductor to metal transition along with the emergence of an asymmetry in the spin polarized density of states for single and two polyyne chains under a transverse electric field. The thermodynamic stability of the system has been substantiated through the utilization of Ab Initio Molecular Dynamics (AIMD) simulations, phonon dispersion curve analyses, and formation energy calculations. Furthermore, in addition to its dynamic stability assessment, phonon calculations have served to identify Raman active vibrational modes which offers an invaluable non-destructive experimental avenue for discerning electronic phase transitions in response to an applied electric field. Our study presents a predictive framework for the prospective utilization of one and two polyyne chains in forthcoming flexible nano-electronic and spintronic devices. The future prospects of the system are contingent upon advancements in nano-electronics fabrication techniques and the precise construction of circuitry for harnessing spin-related applications.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, traditional physical classrooms have transitioned to online environments, necessitating effective strategies to ensure sustained student engagement. A significant challenge in online teaching is the absence of real-time feedback from teachers on students learning progress. This paper introduces a novel approach employing deep learning techniques based on facial expressions to assess students engagement levels during online learning sessions. Human emotions cannot be adequately conveyed by a student using only the basic emotions, including anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness, surprise, and neutrality. To address this challenge, proposed a generation of four complex emotions such as confusion, satisfaction, disappointment, and frustration by combining the basic emotions. These complex emotions are often experienced simultaneously by students during the learning session. To depict these emotions dynamically, utilized a continuous stream of image frames instead of discrete images. The proposed work utilized a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model to categorize the fundamental emotional states of learners accurately. The proposed CNN model demonstrates strong performance, achieving a 95% accuracy in precise categorization of learner emotions.

We present a minimal sub-GeV thermal Dark Matter (DM) model where the DM primarily interacts with neutrinos and participates in neutrino mass generation through quantum loop corrections at one-loop level. We discuss the challenges in achieving this in the scotogenic framework and identify a viable variant. Due to minimality and the interplay between obtaining the correct DM relic abundance and neutrino oscillation data, the model predicts (i) a massless lightest neutrino, (ii) enhanced rate of $0νββ$ decay due to loop corrections involving light DM exchange, and (iii) testable lepton flavor-violating signal $μ\to eγ$. Detecting monoenergetic neutrinos from DM annihilation in next-generation neutrino detectors offers a promising way to test this scenario.

Electronic Health Records (EHRs) have undergone numerous technical improvements in recent years, including the incorporation of mobile devices with the cloud computing technologies to facilitate medical data exchanges between patients and the healthcare professionals. This cutting-edge architecture enables cyber physical systems housed in the cloud to provide healthcare services with minimal operational costs, high flexibility, security, and EHR accessibility. If patient health information is stored in the hospital database, there will always be a risk of intrusion, i.e., unauthorized file access and information modification by attackers. To address this concern, we propose a decentralized EHR system based on Blockchain technology. To facilitate secure EHR exchange across various patients and medical providers, we develop a reliable access control method based on smart contracts. We incorporate Cryptocurrency, specifically Ethereum, in the suggested system to protect sensitive health information from potential attackers. In our suggested approach, both physicians and patients are required to be authenticated. Patients can register, and a block with a unique hash value will be generated. Once the patient discusses the disease with the physician, the physician can check the patient's condition and offer drugs. For experimental findings, we employ the public Block chain Ganache and solidity remix-based smart contracts to protect privacy. Ethers are used as the crypto currencies.

This paper presents a transpiler framework for converting RTL pseudo code of the POWER Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) to C code, enabling its execution on the Cavatools simulator. The transpiler consists of a lexer and parser, which parse the RTL pseudo code and generate corresponding C code representations. The lexer tokenizes the input code, while the parser applies grammar rules to build an abstract syntax tree (AST). The transpiler ensures compatibility with the Cavatools simulator by generating C code that adheres to its requirements. The resulting C code can be executed on the Cavatools simulator, allowing developers to analyze the instruction-level performance of the Power ISA in real time. The proposed framework facilitates the seamless integration of RTL pseudo code into the Cavatools ecosystem, enabling comprehensive performance analysis and optimization of Power ISA-based code.

The detection of emotions using an Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a crucial area in brain-computer interfaces and has valuable applications in fields such as rehabilitation and medicine. In this study, we employed transfer learning to overcome the challenge of limited data availability in EEG-based emotion detection. The base model used in this study was Resnet50. Additionally, we employed a novel feature combination in EEG-based emotion detection. The input to the model was in the form of an image matrix, which comprised Mean Phase Coherence (MPC) and Magnitude Squared Coherence (MSC) in the upper-triangular and lower-triangular matrices, respectively. We further improved the technique by incorporating features obtained from the Differential Entropy (DE) into the diagonal, which previously held little to no useful information for classifying emotions. The dataset used in this study, SEED EEG (62 channel EEG), comprises three classes (Positive, Neutral, and Negative). We calculated both subject-independent and subject-dependent accuracy. The subject-dependent accuracy was obtained using a 10-fold cross-validation method and was 93.1%, while the subject-independent classification was performed by employing the leave-one-subject-out (LOSO) strategy. The accuracy obtained in subject-independent classification was 71.6%. Both of these accuracies are at least twice better than the chance accuracy of classifying 3 classes. The study found the use of MSC and MPC in EEG-based emotion detection promising for emotion classification. The future scope of this work includes the use of data augmentation techniques, enhanced classifiers, and better features for emotion classification.

In this paper, we address the problem of fair sharing of the total value of a crowd-sourced network system between major participants (founders) and minor participants (crowd) using cooperative game theory. Shapley allocation is regarded as a fair way for computing the shares of all participants in a cooperative game when the values of all possible coalitions could be quantified. We define a class of value functions for crowd-sourced systems which capture the contributions of the founders and the crowd plausibly and derive closed-form expressions for Shapley allocations to both. These value functions are defined for different scenarios, such as presence of oligopolies or geographic spread of the crowd, taking network effects, including Metcalfe's law, into account. A key result we obtain is that under quite general conditions, the crowd participants are collectively owed a share between $\frac{1}{2}$ to $\frac{2}{3}$ of the total value of the crowd-sourced system. We close with an empirical analysis demonstrating consistency of our results with the compensation offered to the crowd participants in some public internet content sharing companies.

We explore the potential of the ongoing Zwicky-Transient-Facility (ZTF) survey for studying Intra-Night Optical Variability (INOV) of active galactic nuclei (AGN), in particular for picking rare events of large INOV amplitudes, whose detection may require extensive temporal coverage. For this, we have used the available high cadence subsets of the ZTF database to build a well-defined large sample of 53 blazars (BLs) and another sample of 132 radio-quiet quasars (RQQs), matched to the blazar sample in the redshift-magnitude plane. High-cadence ZTF monitoring of these two matched samples are available, respectively, for 156 and 418 intranight sessions. Median durations for both sets of sessions are 3.7 hours. The two classes of powerful AGN monitored in these sessions represent opposite extremes of jet activity. The present analysis of their ZTF light curves has revealed some strong INOV events which, although not exceptionally rare for blazars, are indeed so for RQQs, and their possible nature is briefly discussed.

Software developers study and reuse existing source code to understand how to properly use application programming interfaces (APIs). However, manually finding sufficient and adequate code examples for a given API is a difficult and a time-consuming activity. Existing approaches to find or generate examples assume availability of a reasonable set of client code that uses the API. This assumption does not hold for newly released API libraries, non-widely used APIs, nor private ones. In this work we reuse the important information that is naturally present in test code to circumvent the lack of usage examples for an API when other sources of client code are not available. We propose an approach for automatically identifying the most representative API uses within each unit test case. We then develop an approach to synthesize API usage examples by extracting relevant statements representing the usage of such APIs. We compare the output of a prototype implementation of our approach to both human-written examples and to a state-of-the-art approach. The obtained results are encouraging; the examples automatically generated with our approach are superior to the state-of-the-art approach and highly similar to the manually constructed examples.

Soil moisture (SM) is referred to as a finite amount of water molecules within the pore spaces and it is a crucial parameter of Hydro-Meteorological processes. The behaviour of soil moisture water changes spatially and temporally in response to topography, soil characteristics, and climate[1]. Soil moisture is overseen by various hydro-meteorological factors that vary vertically with depth, laterally across terrestrial shapes, and temporarily in feedback to the climate. The precise monitoring and quantification of high-resolution surface and subsurface soil moisture observations are very important [13]. This paper highlights the outcomes of the fieldwork carried out at IITM, Pune, wherein we have developed a soil moisture and temperature measurement system using Raspberry Pi and the Internet of things (IoT). The development is classified into three stages, the first stage includes the assembly of the sensor with the microprocessor. The deployment of the low-cost system, data generation, and communication through a wireless sensor network is part of the second stage. Finally, the third stage includes real-time data visualization using a mobile application and data server for analysing soil moisture and temperature. The soil moisture profile obtained through the sensor deployed is highly correlated (r=.9) with in-situ gravimetric observations, having a root mean square error (RMSE) of about 3.1%. Similarly, the temperature observations are well-matched with the in-situ standard temperature observation. Here we present the preliminary results and compare the accuracy with the state-of-the-art sensors.

Given a graph $G$, a set $S$ of vertices in $G$ is a general position set if no triple of vertices from $S$ lie on a common shortest path in $G$. The general position achievement/avoidance game is played on a graph $G$ by players A and B who alternately select vertices of $G$. A selection of a vertex by a player is a legal move if it has not been selected before and the set of selected vertices so far forms a general position set of $G$. The player who picks the last vertex is the winner in the general position achievement game and is the loser in the avoidance game. In this paper, we prove that the general position achievement/avoidance games are PSPACE-complete even on graphs with diameter at most 4. For this, we prove that the \textit{misère} play of the classical Node Kayles game is also PSPACE-complete. As positive results, we obtain linear time algorithms to decide the winning player of the general position avoidance game in rook's graphs, grids, cylinders, and lexicographic products with complete second factors.

We show an interesting correlation between the recent high precision measurement of the $W$-boson mass by the CDF collaboration and the muon $(g-2)$ anomaly in the context of the two Higgs doublet model. One-loop diagrams involving the exchange of neutral scalar bosons can explain the muon $(g-2)$, which however requires significant mass splittings among members of the second Higgs doublet. These splittings also generate a positive shift in the mass of the $W$-boson, consistent with the recent CDF measurement. The charged and neutral scalars of the model cannot be heavier than about 600 GeV for a simultaneous explanation of the two anomalies. The entire parameter space of the model can be tested at the LHC by a combination of same sign dimuon signals in $pp \rightarrow (μ^+ μ^+ jj + {E\!\!\!\!/}_{T})$ and $pp \rightarrow (μ^+μ^-τ^+τ^-+X)$ signals.

We propose a minimal UV-complete model for kinematically forbidden Dark Matter (DM) leading to a sub-GeV thermal relic. Our crucial realization is that the two-Higgs-doublet model can provide a light mediator through which the DM can annihilate into SM leptons, avoiding indirect detection constraints. The DM mass is predicted to be very close to the mass of the leptons, which can potentially be identified from DM annihilation into gamma-rays. Due to sizable couplings to muons in reproducing the DM relic abundance, this framework naturally favors a resolution to the $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly. Furthermore, by embedding this setup to the Zee model, we show that the phenomenon of neutrino oscillations is inherently connected to the observed relic abundance of DM. All new physics involved in our framework lies at or below the electroweak scale, making it testable at upcoming colliders, beam-dump experiments, and future sub-GeV gamma-ray telescopes.

The first study of the angular distribution of $μ^+ μ^-$ pairs produced in the forward rapidity region via the Drell-Yan reaction $pp \rightarrow γ^{*}/Z +X \rightarrow l^+ l^- + X$ is presented, using data collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$. The coefficients of the five leading terms in the angular distribution are determined as a function of the dimuon transverse momentum and rapidity. The results are compared to various theoretical predictions of the $Z$-boson production mechanism and can also be used to probe transverse-momentum-dependent parton distributions within the proton.

These observables give access to the charm mixing parameters $y_{CP}^{ππ} - y_{CP}^{Kπ}$ and $y_{CP}^{KK} - y_{CP}^{Kπ}$, and are measured as $y_{CP}^{ππ} - y_{CP}^{Kπ} = (6.57 \pm 0.53 \pm 0.16) \times 10^{-3}$, $y_{CP}^{KK} - y_{CP}^{Kπ} = (7.08 \pm 0.30 \pm 0.14) \times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The combination of the two measurements is $y_{CP} - y_{CP}^{Kπ} = (6.96 \pm 0.26 \pm 0.13) \times 10^{-3}$, which is four times more precise than the previous world average.

The $τ^-$ lepton is reconstructed in the hadronic decay to three charged pions. The branching fraction ${\mathcal{B}}(Λ_b^0 \rightarrow Λ_c^+τ^-\overlineν_τ) = (1.50 \pm 0.16\pm 0.25\pm 0.23)\%$ is obtained, where uncertainties are statistical, systematic and from the external branching fraction of the normalisation channel $Λ_b^0\rightarrow Λ_c^+π^-π^+π^-$. The ratio of semileptonic branching fractions ${\mathcal{R}}( Λ_c^+)\equiv {\mathcal{B}}( Λ_b^0 \rightarrow Λ_c^+ τ^-\overlineν_τ)/{\mathcal{B}}( Λ_b^0 \rightarrow Λ_c^+ μ^-\overlineν_μ)$ is derived to be $0.242 \pm 0.026 \pm 0.040\pm 0.059$, where the external branching fraction uncertainty from the channel $Λ_b^0\rightarrow Λ_c^+μ^-\overlineν_μ$ contributes to the last term. This result is in agreement with the Standard Model prediction.

These modes can potentially be used to investigate the spectroscopy of charm and charm-strange resonances and to determine the angle $γ$ of the CKM unitarity triangle. It is also important to understand them as a source of potential background in determinations of $γ$ from $B^{+}\rightarrow DK^{+}$ and $B^{0}\rightarrow DK^{+}π^{-}$ decays. The analysis is based on a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $5.4 ~\rm{fb}^{-1}$ of proton--proton collision data at $13 ~\rm{TeV}$ centre-of-mass energy recorded with the LHCb detector. The $\overline{D}^{*}(2007)^{0}$ mesons are fully reconstructed in the $\overline{D}^{0}π^{0}$ and $\overline{D}^{0}γ$ channels, with the $\overline{D}^{0} \rightarrow K^{+}π^{-}$ decay. A novel weighting method is used to subtract background while simultaneously applying an event-by-event efficiency correction to account for resonant structures in the decays.

The mode where a large $CP$ asymmetry is expected, $B^\pm\to [π^\pm K^\mpπ^0]_DK^\pm$, is observed with a significance greater than seven standard deviations. The ratio of the partial width of this mode relative to that of the favoured mode, $B^\pm\to [K^\pmπ^\mpπ^0]_D K^\pm$, is $R_{{\rm ADS}(K)} = (1.27\pm0.16\pm0.02)\times 10^{-2}$. Evidence for a large $CP$ asymmetry is also seen: $A_{{\rm ADS}(K)} = -0.38\pm0.12\pm0.02$. Constraints on the CKM angle $γ$ are calculated from the eleven reported observables.

Existing single image RS rectification methods attempt to account for these distortions by either using algorithms tailored for specific class of scenes which warrants information of intrinsic camera parameters or a learning-based framework with known ground truth motion parameters. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end deep neural network for the challenging task of single image RS rectification. Our network consists of a motion block, a trajectory module, a row block, an RS rectification module and an RS regeneration module (which is used only during training). The motion block predicts camera pose for every row of the input RS distorted image while the trajectory module fits estimated motion parameters to a third-order polynomial. The row block predicts the camera motion that must be associated with every pixel in the target i.e, RS rectified image. Finally, the RS rectification module uses motion trajectory and the output of row block to warp the input RS image to arrive at a distortionfree image. For faster convergence during training, we additionally use an RS regeneration module which compares the input RS image with the ground truth image distorted by estimated motion parameters. The end-to-end formulation in our model does not constrain the estimated motion to ground-truth motion parameters, thereby successfully rectifying the RS images with complex real-life camera motion. Experiments on synthetic and real datasets reveal that our network outperforms prior art both qualitatively and quantitatively.

The photon polarization is measured to be $α_γ= 0.82^{\,+\,0.17\,+\,0.04}_{\,-\,0.26\,-\,0.13}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This result is in agreement with the Standard Model prediction and previous measurements in b-meson decays. A general position set of a graph $G$ is a set of vertices $S$ in $G$ such that no three vertices from $S$ lie on a common shortest path. In this paper we introduce and study the general position achievement game. The game is played on a graph $G$ by players A and B who alternatively pick vertices of $G$. A selection of a vertex is legal if has not been selected before and the set of vertices selected so far forms a general position set of $G$. The player who selects the last vertex wins the game. Playable vertices at each step of the game are described, and sufficient conditions for each of the players to win is given. The game is studied on Cartesian and lexicographic products. Among other results it is proved that A wins the game on $K_n\,\square\, K_m$ if and only if both $n$ and $m$ are odd, and that B wins the game on $G\circ K_n$ if and only if either B wins on $G$ or $n$ is even.

In the first, a Higgs-like boson with mass from 30 to 200 GeV is produced by gluon fusion and decays into two LLPs. The analysis covers LLP mass values from 10 GeV up to about one half the Higgs-like boson mass. The second LLP production mode is directly from quark interactions, with LLP masses from 10 to 90 GeV. The LLP lifetimes considered range from 5 to 200 ps. This study uses LHCb data collected from proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 1/fb. No evidence of these long-lived states has been observed, and upper limits on the production cross-section times branching ratio have been set for each model considered.

Two narrow resonant states are observed in the ${\itΛ}_b^0 K^-π^+$ mass spectrum using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13$~\rm TeV$, collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $6~{\rm fb}^{-1}$. The minimal quark content of the ${\itΛ}_b^0 K^-π^+$ system indicates that these are excited ${\itΞ}_b^0$ baryons. The masses of the ${\itΞ}_b(6327)^0$ and ${\itΞ}_b(6333)^0$ states are $m({\itΞ}_b(6327)^0) = 6327.28 ^{\,+\,0.23}_{\,-\,0.21} \pm 0.12 \pm 0.24~{\rm MeV}$ and $m({\itΞ}_b(6333)^0) = 6332.69 ^{\,+\,0.17}_{\,-\,0.18} \pm 0.03 \pm 0.22~{\rm MeV}$, respectively, with a mass splitting of $Δm = 5.41 ^{\,+\,0.26}_{\,-\,0.27} \pm 0.12 ~{\rm MeV}$, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic and due to the ${\itΛ}_b^0$ mass measurement. The measured natural widths of these states are consistent with zero, with upper limits of $Γ({\itΞ}_b(6327)^0)<2.20~(2.56) ~{\rm MeV}$ and $Γ({\itΞ}_b(6333)^0)<1.60~(1.92) ~{\rm MeV}$ at a $90\%~(95\%)$ credibility level. The significance of the two-peak hypothesis is larger than nine (five) Gaussian standard deviations compared to the no-peak (one-peak) hypothesis. The masses, widths and resonant structure of the new states are in good agreement with the expectations for a doublet of 1$D$ ${\itΞ}_b^0$ resonances.

A combination of measurements sensitive to the $CP$ violation angle $γ$ of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle and to the charm mixing parameters that describe oscillations between $D^0$ and $\bar{D}^0$ mesons is performed. Results from the charm and beauty sectors, based on data collected with the LHCb detector at CERN's Large Hadron Collider, are combined for the first time. This method provides an improvement on the precision of the charm mixing parameter $y$ by a factor of two with respect to the current world average. The charm mixing parameters are determined to be $x = (0.400^{\,+0.052}_{\,-0.053})\%$ and $y = (0.630^{\,+0.033}_{\,-0.030})\%$. The angle $γ$ is found to be $γ= (65.4^{\,+3.8}_{\,-4.2})^\circ$ and is the most precise determination from a single experiment.

Abstract:

Events containing a $Z$ boson and a charm jet are studied for the first time in the forward region of proton-proton collisions. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $6 \, {\rm fb}^{-1}$ collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the LHCb detector. In events with a $Z$ boson and a jet, the fraction of charm jets is determined in intervals of $Z$-boson rapidity in the range $2.0 < y(Z) < 4.5$. A sizable enhancement is observed in the forward-most $y(Z)$ interval, which could be indicative of a valence-like intrinsic-charm component in the proton wave function.
