A criterion for slope 1 homological stability
Abstract: We show that for nice enough $\mathbb{N}$-graded $\mathbb{E}_2$-algebras, a diagonal vanishing line in $\mathbb{E}_1$-homology of gives rise to slope $1$ homological stability. This is an integral version of a result by Kupers-Miller-Patzt.

Unstable algebraic K-theory: homological stability and other observations
Abstract: We investigate stability properties of the reductive Borel-Serre categories; these were introduced as a model for unstable algebraic K-theory in previous work. We see that they exhibit better homological stability properties than the general linear groups. We also show that they provide an explicit model for Yuan's partial algebraic K-theory.

Moduli stack of stable curves from a stratified homotopy viewpoint
Abstract: In 1984, Charney and Lee defined a category of stable curves and exhibited a rational homology equivalence from its geometric realisation to (the analytification of) the moduli stack of stable curves, also known as the Deligne-Mumford-Knudsen compactification. We strengthen this result by showing that, in fact, this category captures the stratified homotopy type of the moduli stack. In particular,… ▽ More

The reductive Borel-Serre compactification as a model for unstable algebraic K-theory
Abstract: Let $A$ be an associative ring and $M$ a finitely generated projective $A$-module. We introduce a category $\operatorname{RBS}(M)$ and prove several theorems which show that its geometric realisation functions as a well-behaved unstable algebraic K-theory space. These categories $\operatorname{RBS}(M)$ naturally arise as generalisations of the exit path $\infty$-category of the reductive Borel-Ser… ▽ More

The stratified homotopy type of the reductive Borel-Serre compactification
Abstract: We identify the exit path $\infty$-category of the reductive Borel-Serre compactification as the nerve of a $1$-category defined purely in terms of rational parabolic subgroups and their unipotent radicals. As an immediate consequence, we identify the fundamental group of the reductive Borel-Serre compactification, recovering a result of Ji-Murty-Saper-Scherk, and we obtain a combinatorial incarna… ▽ More

Collimated gamma-ray beams from structured laser-irradiated targets -- how to increase the efficiency without increasing the laser intensity
Abstract: Using three-dimensional kinetic simulations, we examine the emission of collimated gamma-ray beams from structured laser-irradiated targets with a pre-filled cylindrical channel. The channel guides the incident laser pulse, enabling generation of a slowly evolving azimuthal plasma magnetic field that serves two key functions: to enhance laser-driven electron acceleration and to induce emission of… ▽ More

Leveraging extreme laser-driven magnetic fields for gamma-ray generation and pair production
Abstract: The ability of an intense laser pulse to propagate in a classically over-critical plasma through the phenomenon of relativistic transparency is shown to facilitate the generation of strong plasma magnetic fields. Particle-in-cell simulations demonstrate that these fields significantly enhance the radiation rates of the laser-irradiated electrons, and furthermore they collimate the emission so that… ▽ More

Tree Code for Collision Detection of Large Numbers of Particles Application for the Breit-Wheeler Process
Abstract: Collision detection of a large number N of particles can be challenging. Directly testing N particles for collision among each other leads to N 2 queries. Especially in scenarios, where fast, densely packed particles interact, challenges arise for classical methods like Particle-in-Cell or Monte-Carlo. Modern collision detection methods utilising bounding volume hierarchies are suitable to overcom… ▽ More

Pair creation in collision of $γ$--ray beams produced with high intensity lasers
Abstract: Direct production of electron--positron pairs in two photon collisions, the Breit--Wheeler process, is one of the basic processes in the Universe. However, it has never been observed in laboratory because of absence of the intense gamma-ray sources. Laser induced synchrotron sources emission may open for the first time a way to observe this process. A feasibility of an experimental set--up using a… ▽ More

Characterization and Application of Hard X-Ray Betatron Radiation Generated by Relativistic Electrons from a Laser-Wakefield Accelerator
Abstract: The necessity for compact table-top x-ray sources with higher brightness, shorter wavelength and shorter pulse duration has led to the development of complementary sources based on laser-plasma accelerators, in contrast to conventional accelerators. Relativistic interaction of short-pulse lasers with underdense plasmas results in acceleration of electrons and in consequence in the emission of spat… ▽ More

Field-reversed bubble in deep plasma channels for high quality electron acceleration
Abstract: We study hollow plasma channels with smooth boundaries for laser-driven electron acceleration in the bubble regime. Contrary to the uniform plasma case, the laser forms no optical shock and no etching at the front. This increases the effective bubble phase velocity and energy gain. The longitudinal field has a plateau that allows for mono-energetic acceleration. We observe as low as 10^{-3} r.m.s.… ▽ More
