Triangle-degree and triangle-distinct graphs
Abstract: Let $G$ be a simple graph and $v$ be a vertex of $G$. The triangle-degree of $v$ in $G$ is the number of triangles that contain $v$. While every graph has at least two vertices with the same degree, there are graphs in which every vertex has a distinct triangle-degree. In this paper, we construct an infinite family of graphs with this property. We also study the vertex degrees and size of graphs w… ▽ More

3-colorability of graphs with minimum degree at least 6
Abstract: Let $G$ be an $n$-vertex graph and let $L:V(G)\rightarrow P(\{1,2,3\})$ be a list assignment over the vertices of $G$, where each vertex with list of size 3 and of degree at most 5 has at least three neighbors with lists of size 2. We can determine $L$-choosability of $G$ in $O(1.3196^{n_3+.5n_2})$ time, where $n_i$ is the number of vertices in $G$ with list of size $i$ for $i\in \{2,3\}$. As a co… ▽ More

Characterization of Graphs with Villainy 2
Abstract: Let $f$ be an optimal proper coloring of a graph $G$ and let $c$ be a coloring of the vertices of $G$ obtained by permuting the colors on vertices in the proper coloring $f$. The villainy of $c$, written $B(c)$, is the minimum number of vertices that must be recolored to obtain a proper coloring of $G$ with the additional condition that the number of times each color is used does not change. The v… ▽ More

Improved algorithm to determine 3-colorability of graphs with the minimum degree at least 7
Abstract: Let $G$ be an $n$-vertex graph with the maximum degree $Δ$ and the minimum degree $δ$. We give algorithms with complexity $O(1.3158^{n-0.7~Δ(G)})$ and $O(1.32^{n-0.73~Δ(G)})$ that determines if $G$ is 3-colorable, when $δ(G)\geq 8$ and $δ(G)\geq 7$, respectively.

Weak Dynamic Coloring of Planar Graphs
Abstract: The \textit{$k$-weak-dynamic number} of a graph $G$ is the smallest number of colors we need to color the vertices of $G$ in such a way that each vertex $v$ of degree $d(v)$ sees at least $\rm{min}\{k,d(v)\}$ colors on its neighborhood. We use reducible configurations and list coloring of graphs to prove that all planar graphs have 3-weak-dynamic number at most 6.

List-Distinguishing Cartesian Products of Cliques
Abstract: The distinguishing number of a graph $G$, denoted $D(G)$, is the minimum number of colors needed to produce a coloring of the vertices of $G$ so that every nontrivial isomorphism interchanges vertices of different colors. A list assignment $L$ on a graph $G$ is a function that assigns each vertex of $G$ a set of colors. An $L$-coloring of $G$ is a coloring in which each vertex is colored with a co… ▽ More

The chromatic number of the square of subcubic planar graphs
Abstract: Wegner conjectured in 1977 that the square of every planar graph with maximum degree at most $3$ is $7$-colorable. We prove this conjecture using the discharging method and computational techniques to verify reducible configurations.

List-antimagic labeling of vertex-weighted graphs
Abstract: A graph $G$ is $k$-$weighted-list-antimagic$ if for any vertex weighting $ω\colon V(G)\to\mathbb{R}$ and any list assignment $L\colon E(G)\to2^{\mathbb{R}}$ with $|L(e)|\geq |E(G)|+k$ there exists an edge labeling $f$ such that $f(e)\in L(e)$ for all $e\in E(G)$, labels of edges are pairwise distinct, and the sum of the labels on edges incident to a vertex plus the weight of that vertex is distinc… ▽ More

On the Strong Chromatic Index of Sparse Graphs
Abstract: The strong chromatic index of a graph $G$, denoted $χ_s'(G)$, is the least number of colors needed to edge-color $G$ so that edges at distance at most two receive distinct colors. The strong list chromatic index, denoted $χ_{s,\ell}'(G)$, is the least integer $k$ such that if arbitrary lists of size $k$ are assigned to each edge then $G$ can be edge-colored from those lists where edges at distance… ▽ More

1,2,3-Conjecture and 1,2-Conjecture for Sparse Graphs
Abstract: We apply the Discharging Method to prove the 1,2,3-Conjecture and the 1,2-Conjecture for graphs with maximum average degree less than 8/3. Stronger results on these conjectures have been proved, but this is the first application of discharging to them, and the structure theorems and reducibility results are of independent interest.

Large chromatic number and Ramsey graphs
Abstract: Let Q(n,c) denote the minimum clique size an n-vertex graph can have if its chromatic number is c. Using Ramsey graphs we give an exact, albeit implicit, formula for the case c is at least (n+3)/2.
