We present multi-wavelength photometry and spectroscopy of SN 2022jli, an unprecedented Type Ic supernova discovered in the galaxy NGC 157 at a distance of $\approx$ 23 Mpc. The multi-band light curves reveal many remarkable characteristics. Peaking at a magnitude of $g=15.11\pm0.02$, the high-cadence photometry reveals 12.5$\pm0.2\ $day periodic undulations superimposed on the 200 day supernova decline. This periodicity is observed in the light curves from nine separate filter and instrument configurations with peak-to-peak amplitudes of $\simeq$ 0.1 mag. This is the first time that repeated periodic oscillations, over many cycles, have been detected in a supernova light curve. SN 2022jli also displays an extreme early excess which fades over $\approx$ 25 days followed by a rise to a peak luminosity of $L_{\rm opt} = 10^{42.1}$ erg s$^{-1}$. Although the exact explosion epoch is not constrained by data, the time from explosion to maximum light is $\gtrsim$ 59 days. The luminosity can be explained by a large ejecta mass ($M_{\rm ej}\approx12\pm6$M$_{\odot}$) powered by $^{56}$Ni but we find difficulty in quantitatively modelling the early excess with circumstellar interaction and cooling. Collision between the supernova ejecta and a binary companion is a possible source of this emission. We discuss the origin of the periodic variability in the light curve, including interaction of the SN ejecta with nested shells of circumstellar matter and neutron stars colliding with binary companions.

Brain tumor is deliberated as one of the severe health complications which lead to decrease in life expectancy of the individuals and is also considered as a prominent cause of mortality worldwide. Therefore, timely detection and prediction of brain tumors can be helpful to prevent death rates due to brain tumors. Biomedical image analysis is a widely known solution to diagnose brain tumor. Although MRI is the current standard method for imaging tumors, its clinical usefulness is constrained by the requirement of manual segmentation which is time-consuming. Deep learning-based approaches have emerged as a promising solution to develop automated biomedical image exploration tools and the UNet architecture is commonly used for segmentation. However, the traditional UNet has limitations in terms of complexity, training, accuracy, and contextual information processing. As a result, the modified UNet architecture, which incorporates residual dense blocks, layered attention, and channel attention modules, in addition to stacked convolution, can effectively capture both coarse and fine feature information. The proposed SLCA UNet approach achieves good performance on the freely accessible Brain Tumor Segmentation (BraTS) dataset, with an average performance of 0.845, 0.845, 0.999, and 8.1 in terms of Dice, Sensitivity, Specificity, and Hausdorff95 for BraTS 2020 dataset, respectively.

We present results of a 2014-2018 campaign of radial velocity measurements of $δ$ Ceti. Combining our determination of pulsation period with historical data we conclude that the most likely explanation of observed changes is the presence of a secondary component with a minimum mass of $1.10 \pm 0.05 M_{\odot}$ on an orbit with a period of $169 \pm 6$ years. Consequently, we revised the intrinsic, evolutionary period change rate to not larger than $0.018 \pm 0.004$ s/century, which is significantly lower than previous estimations and is consistent with evolutionary models of Neilson & Ignace (2015). We did not find any significant multiperiodic frequencies in radial velocity periodograms such as those reported by Aerts et al. (2006) in photometric data from MOST satellite. Using interferometric angular size of $δ$ Ceti from JMMC Stellar Diameters Catalogue we determined several physical parameters of the star with bolometric flux method. They turned out to be consistent with most previous deteminations, confirming lower mass and slower evolution of $δ$ Ceti than obtained using different methods by Aerts et al. (2006) and Neilson & Ignace (2015).

In this paper, Recofigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) assisted dual-hop multicast wireless communication network is proposed with two source nodes and two destination nodes. RIS boosts received signal strength through an intelligent software-controlled array of discrete phase-shifting metamaterials. The multicast communication from the source nodes is enabled using a Decode and Forward (DF) relay node. In the relay node, the Physical Layer Network Coding (PLNC) concept is applied and the PLNC symbol is transmitted to the destination nodes. The joint RIS-Multicast channels between source nodes and the relay node are modeled as the sum of two scaled non-central Chi-Square distributions. Analytical expressions are derived for Bit Error Rate (BER) at relay node and destination nodes using Moment Generating Function (MGF) approach and the results are validated using Monte-Carlo simulations. It is observed that the BER performance of the proposed RIS assisted network is a lot better than the conventional non-RIS channels links.

Abstract:
Let $D=(V,E)$ be a strongly connected digraph and let $u ,v\in V(D)$. In this paper we investigate about the above boundary-type sets of a strong digraph $D$ in terms of the factors in its prime factor decomposition with respect to strong product.

We present a systematic analysis of the effects of orbital inclination angle on the non-linear variability properties of type-B and type-C QPOs from black hole binaries. We use the bicoherence, a measure of phase coupling at different Fourier frequencies for our analysis. We find that there is a likely inclination dependent change in the non-linear properties of type-C QPOs as the source transitions from a hard intermediate state to a soft intermediate state. High inclination (edge-on) sources show a change from a `web' to a `cross' pattern, while the low inclination (face-on) sources show a change from a `web' to a `hypotenuse' pattern. We present a scenario of a moderate increase in the optical depth of the Comptonising region as a possible explanation of these effects. The bicoherence of type-B QPOs do not exhibit any measurable inclination dependence.

Similar planets around low-mass stars are very hard to find using any technique other than microlensing. We discuss microlensing model fitting in detail and discuss the prospects for measuring the mass and distance of lens system directly.

Electing a leader is a classical problem in distributed computing system. Synchronization between processes often requires one process acting as a coordinator. If an elected leader node fails, the other nodes of the system need to elect another leader without much wasting of time. The bully algorithm is a classical approach for electing a leader in a synchronous distributed computing system, which is used to determine the process with highest priority number as the coordinator. In this paper, we have discussed the limitations of Bully algorithm and proposed a simple and efficient method for the Bully algorithm which reduces the number of messages during the election. Our analytical simulation shows that, our proposed algorithm is more efficient than the Bully algorithm with fewer messages passing and fewer stages.
