Chaotic variations in flow speed up mixing of scalar fields via intensified stirring. This paper addresses the statistical properties of a passive scalar field mixing in a regular shear flow with random fluctuations against its background. We consider two-dimensional flow with shear component dominating over smooth fluctuations. Such flow is supposed to model passive scalar mixing e.g. inside a large-scale coherent vortex forming in two-dimensional turbulence or in elastic turbulence in a micro-channel. We examine both the decaying case and the case of the continuous forcing of the scalar variances. In both cases dynamics possesses strong intermittency, that can be characterized via the single-point moments and correlation functions calculated in our work. We present general qualitative properties of pair correlation function as well as certain quantitative results obtained in the framework of the model with fluctuations that are short correlated in time.

Abstract:
We propose a new approach to traffic preprocessing called Differentiation of Sliding Rescaled Ranges (DSRR) expanding the ideas laid down by H.E. Hurst. We apply proposed approach on the characterizing encrypted and unencrypted traffic on the well-known ISCXVPN2016 dataset. We deploy DSRR for flow-base features and then solve the task VPN vs nonVPN with basic machine learning models. With DSRR and…

With DSRR and Random Forest, we obtain 0.971 Precision, 0.969 Recall and improve this result to 0.976 using statistical analysis of features in comparison with Neural Network approach that gives 0.93 Precision via 2D-CNN. The proposed method and the results can be found at https://github.com/AleksandrIvchenko/dsrr_vpn_nonvpn.

Dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP provides the work of most multimedia services, however, the nature of this technology further complicates the assessment of the QoE (Quality of Experience). In this paper, the influence of various objective factors on the subjective estimation of the QoE of streaming video is studied. The paper presents standard and handcrafted features, shows their correlation and p-Value of significance. VQA (Video Quality Assessment) models based on regression and gradient boosting with SRCC reaching up to 0.9647 on the validation subsample are proposed. The proposed regression models are adapted for applied applications (both with and without a reference video); the Gradient Boosting Regressor model is perspective for further improvement of the quality estimation model. We take SQoE-III database, so far the largest and most realistic of its kind. The VQA (video quality assessment) models are available at https://github.com/AleksandrIvchenko/QoE-assesment

This paper demonstrates that highly accurate radiometric identification is possible using CAPoNeF feature engineering method. We tested basic ML classification algorithms on experimental data gathered by SDR. The statistical and correlational properties of suggested features were analyzed first with the help of Point Biserial and Pearson Correlation Coefficients and then using P-values. The most relevant features were highlighted. Random Forest provided 99% accuracy. We give LIME description of model behavior. It turns out that even if the dimension of the feature space is reduced to 3, it is still possible to classify devices with 99% accuracy.

Abstract:
The statistical properties of letters frequencies in European literature texts are investigated. The determination of logarithmic dependence of letters sequence for one-language and two-language texts are examined. The pare of languages is suggested for Voynich Manuscript. The internal structure of Manuscript is considered. The spectral portraits of two-letters distribution are constructed.
