Numbers of the form $k+f(k)$
Abstract: For a function $f\colon \mathbb{N}\to\mathbb{N}$, let $$ N^+_f(x)=\{n\leq x: n=k+f(k) \mbox{ for some } k\}. $$ Let $τ(n)=\sum_{d|n}1$ be the divisor function, $ω(n)=\sum_{p|n}1$ be the prime divisor function, and $\varphi(n)=\#\{1\leq k\leq n: \gcd(k,n)=1 \}$ be Euler's totient function. We show that \begin{align*} &(1) \quad x \ll N^+_ω(x), \\ &(2) \quad x\ll N^+_τ(x) \leq 0.94x, \\ &(3) \quad x… ▽ More

Karatsuba's divisor problem and related questions
Abstract: We prove that $$ \sum_{p \leq x} \frac{1}{τ(p-1)} \asymp \frac{x}{(\log x)^{3/2}}, \quad \quad \sum_{n \leq x} \frac{1}{τ(n^2+1)} \asymp \frac{x}{(\log x)^{1/2}}, $$ where $τ(n)=\sum_{d|n}1$ is the number of divisors of $n$, and the summation in the first sum is over primes.

On the Karatsuba divisor problem
Abstract: We obtain an upper bound for the sum $Φ_a(x) = \sum_{p\le x}1/(τ(p+a))$, where $τ(n)$ is the divisor function, $a\ge 1$ is a fixed integer, and $p$ run through primes up to $x$.

On The Tree Structure of Natural Numbers, II
Abstract: Each natural number can be associated with some tree graph. Namely, a natural number $n$ can be factorized as $$ n = p_1^{α_1}\ldots p_k^{α_k},$$ where $p_i$ are distinct prime numbers. Since $α_i$ are naturals, they can be factorized in such a manner as well. This process may be continued, building the "factorization tree" until all the top numbers are $1$. Let $H(n)$ be the height of the tree co… ▽ More

Numbers of the form $kf(k)$
Abstract: For a function $f\colon \mathbb{N}\to\mathbb{N}$, define $N^{\times}_{f}(x)=\#\{n\leq x: n=kf(k) \mbox{ for some $k$} \}$. Let $τ(n)=\sum_{d|n}1$ be the divisor function, $ω(n)=\sum_{p|n}1$ be the prime divisor function, and $\varphi(n)=\#\{1\leq k\leq n: (k,n)=1 \}$ be Euler's totient function. We prove that \begin{gather*} \!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\! 1) \quad N^{\times}_τ(x)… ▽ More
