Nonlinear steepest descent on a torus: A case study of the Landau-Lifshitz equation
Abstract: We obtain rigorous large time asymptotics for the Landau-Lifshitz equation in the soliton free case by extending the nonlinear steepest descent method to genus 1 surfaces. The methods presented in this paper pave the way to rigorous analysis of other integrable equations on the torus and enables asymptotic analysis on different regimes of the Landau-Lifshitz equation.

Connection formulae for the radial Toda equations I
Abstract: This paper is the first in a forthcoming series of works where the authors study the global asymptotic behavior of the radial solutions of the 2D periodic Toda equation of type $A_n$. The principal issue is the connection formulae between the asymptotic parameters describing the behavior of the general solution at zero and infinity. To reach this goal we are using a fusion of the PDE analysis and… ▽ More

The tt*-Toda equations of A_n type
Abstract: In previous articles we have studied the A_n tt*-Toda equations (topological-antitopological fusion equations of Toda type) of Cecotti and Vafa, giving details mainly for n=3. Here we give a proof of the existence and uniqueness of global solutions for any n, and a new treatment of their asymptotic data, monodromy data, and Stokes data.

Entanglement entropy of two disjoint intervals separated by one spin in a chain of free fermion

Higher order analogues of the Tracy-Widom distribution and the Painleve II hierarchy
Abstract: We study Fredholm determinants related to a family of kernels which describe the edge eigenvalue behavior in unitary random matrix models with critical edge points. The kernels are natural higher order analogues of the Airy kernel and are built out of functions associated with the Painlevé I hierarchy. The Fredholm determinants related to those kernels are higher order generalizations of the Tra… ▽ More

Asymptotics for a special solution of the thirty fourth Painleve equation
Abstract: In a previous paper we studied the double scaling limit of unitary random matrix ensembles of the form Z_{n,N}^{-1} |\det M|^{2α} e^{-N \Tr V(M)} dM with α> -1/2. The factor |\det M|^{2α} induces critical eigenvalue behavior near the origin. Under the assumption that the limiting mean eigenvalue density associated with V is regular, and that the origin is a right endpoint of its support, we comp… ▽ More

Total integrals of global solutions to Painleve II
Abstract: We evaluate the total integral from negative infinity to positive infinity of all global solutions to the Painleve II equation on the real line. The method is based on the interplay between one of the equations of the associated Lax pair and the corresponding Riemann-Hilbert problem. In addition, we evaluate the total integral of a function related to a special solution to the Painleve V equatio… ▽ More

Toeplitz and Hankel determinants with singularities: announcement of results
Abstract: We obtain asymptotics for Toeplitz, Hankel, and Toeplitz+Hankel determinants whose symbols possess Fisher-Hartwig singularities. Details of the proofs will be presented in another publication.

Painléve III and a singular linear statistics in Hermitian random matrix ensembles I
Abstract: In this paper, we study a certain linear statistics of the unitary Laguerre ensembles, motivated in part by an integrable quantum field theory at finite temperature. It transpires that this is equivalent to the characterization of a sequence of polynomials orthogonal with respect to the weight $$ w(x)=w(x,s):=x^{\al}\rme^{-x}\rme^{-s/x}, \quad 0\leq x<\infty, \al>0, s>0, $$ namely, the determina… ▽ More

Normal matrix models, dbar-problem, and orthogonal polynomials on the complex plane
Abstract: We introduce a dbar-formulation of the orthogonal polynomials on the complex plane, and hence of the related normal matrix model, which is expected to play the same role as the Riemann-Hilbert formalism in the theory of orthogonal polynomials on the line and for the related Hermitian model. We propose an analog of Deift-Kriecherbauer-McLaughlin-Venakides-Zhou asymptotic method for the analysis o… ▽ More

Entanglement entropy in quantum spin chains with finite range interaction
Abstract: We study the entropy of entanglement of the ground state in a wide family of one-dimensional quantum spin chains whose interaction is of finite range and translation invariant. Such systems can be thought of as generalizations of the XY model. The chain is divided in two parts: one containing the first consecutive L spins; the second the remaining ones. In this setting the entropy of entanglemen… ▽ More

Renyi Entropy of the XY Spin Chain
Abstract: We consider the one-dimensional XY quantum spin chain in a transverse magnetic field. We are interested in the Renyi entropy of a block of L neighboring spins at zero temperature on an infinite lattice. The Renyi entropy is essentially the trace of some power $α$ of the density matrix of the block. We calculate the asymptotic for $L \to \infty$ analytically in terms of Klein's elliptic $λ$ - fun… ▽ More
