High-energy properties of the graviton scattering in quadratic gravity
Abstract: We obtain the matter-graviton scattering amplitude in the gravitational theory of quadratic curvature, which has $R_{μν}^2$ term in the action. Unitarity bound is not satisfied because of the existence of negative norm states, while an analog of unitarity bound for $S$-matrix unitarity holds due to the cancelation among the positive norm states and negative norm ones in the unitarity summation in… ▽ More

Competition between helimagnetic and ferroquadrupolar orderings in a monoaxial chiral magnet DyNi$_3$Ga$_{9}$ studied by resonant x-ray diffraction
Abstract: Successive phase transitions in a rare-earth monoaxial chiral magnet DyNi$_3$Ga$_{9}$ have been investigated by resonant x-ray diffraction. Magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole degrees of freedom arising from the large angular moment of $J=15/2$, in combination with the symmetric and antisymmetric exchange interactions and the crystal field anisotropy, give rise to competing ordered phases. Heavy particle non-decoupling in flavor-changing gravitational interactions
Abstract: The flavor-changing gravitational process d --> s + graviton, is evaluated at the one-loop level in the standard electroweak theory with on-shell renormalization. The results we present in the 't Hooft-Feynman gauge are valid for on- and off-shell quarks and for all external and internal quark masses. Perturbative $S$-matrix unitarity ($S^{\dagger}S=1$) in $R_{μν} ^2$ gravity
Abstract: We show that in the quadratic curvature theory of gravity, or simply $R_{μν} ^2$ gravity, the tree-level unitariy bound (tree unitarity) is violated in the UV region but an analog for $S$-matrix unitarity ($SS^{\dagger} = 1$) is satisfied. This theory is renormalizable, and hence the failure of tree unitarity is a counter example of Llewellyn Smith's conjecture on the relation between them. We hav… ▽ More

Abstract: We investigate the relation between the $S$-matrix unitarity ($SS^{\dagger}=1$) and the renormalizability, in theories with negative norm states. Abstract: We report the first high-field x-ray diffraction experiment using synchrotron x-rays and pulsed magnetic fields exceeding 30 T. Lattice deformation due to a magnetic-field-induced valence transition in YbInCu4 is studied. It has been found that the Bragg reflection profile at 32 K changes significantly at around 27 T due to the structural transition. In the vicinity of the transition field the l… ▽ More

Konishi Anomaly and Central Extension in N=1/2 Supersymmetry
Abstract: We show that the 4-dimensional N=1/2 supersymmetry algebra admits central extension. The central charges are supported by domain wall and the central charges are computed. We also determine the Konishi anomaly for N=1/2 supersymmetric gauge theory. Due to the new couplings in the Lagrangian, many terms appears. We show that these terms sum up to give the expected form for the holomorphic part of… ▽ More

Locality, Causality and Noncommutative Geometry
Abstract: We analyse the causality condition in noncommutative field theory and show that the nonlocality of noncommutative interaction leads to a modification of the light cone to the light wedge. This effect is generic for noncommutative geometry. We also check that the usual form of energy condition is violated and propose that a new form is needed in noncommutative spacetime. On reduction from light c… ▽ More

Momentum Dependence of Charge Excitations in the Electron-Doped Superconductor Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4: a RIXS Study
Abstract: We report a resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) study of charge excitations in the electron-doped high-Tc superconductor Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4. The intraband and interband excitations across the Fermi energy are separated for the first time by tuning the experimental conditions properly to measure charge excitations at low energy. A dispersion relation with q-dependent width emerges clearly in… ▽ More

Mott gap excitations in twin-free YBa2Cu3O7-d (Tc = 93 K) studied by RIXS
Abstract: Mott gap excitations in the high-Tc superconductor of the optimal doped YBa2Cu3O7-d (Tc = 93 K) have been studied by the resonant inelastic x-ray scattering method. Anisotropic spectra in the ab-plane are observed in a twin-free crystal. The excitation from the one-dimensional CuO chain is enhanced at 2 eV near the zone boundary of the b* direction, while the excitation from the CuO2 plane is br… ▽ More

Resonant inelastic x-ray scattering study of hole-doped manganites La1-xSrxMnO3 (x=0.2 and 0.4)
Abstract: Electronic excitations near the Fermi energy in the hole doped manganese oxides (La1-xSrxMnO3, x=0.2 and 0.4) have been elucidated by using the resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) method. A do** effect in the strongly correlated electron systems has been observed for the first time. The scattering spectra show that a salient peak appears in low energies indicating the persistence of the… ▽ More

Distribution of the distance between opposite nodes of random polygons with a fixed knot
Abstract: We examine numerically the distribution function $f_K(r)$ of distance $r$ between opposite polygonal nodes for random polygons of $N$ nodes with a fixed knot type $K$. Here we consider three knots such as $\emptyset$, $3_1$ and $3_1 \sharp 3_1$. In a wide range of $r$, the shape of $f_K(r)$ is well fitted by the scaling form of self-avoiding walks. The fit yields the Gaussian exponents… ▽ More

Supersymmetric CP^N Sigma Model on Noncommutative Superspace
Abstract: We construct a closed form of the action of the supersymmetric $CP^N$ sigma model on noncommutative superspace in four dimensions. We show that this model has $\mathcal{N}={1/2}$ supersymmetry and that the transformation law is not modified. The supersymmetric $CP^N$ sigma model on noncommutative superspace in two dimensions is obtained by dimensional reducing the model in four dimensions.

Bilepton production in electron-gamma collisions
Abstract: We study the production of bileptons, new gauge boson of lepton number two, in the minimal 3 - 3 - 1 model in high energy electron - photon collisions. If the bilepton masses are in the range of 300 GeV the reaction will give observable cross-sections in the future colliders.

Average size of random polygons with fixed knot topology
Abstract: We have evaluated by numerical simulation the average size $R_K$ of random polygons of fixed knot topology $K = \emptyset, 3_1, 3_1\sharp4_1$, and we have confirmed the scaling law $R^2_K \sim N^{2ν_K}$ for the number $N$ of polygonal nodes in a wide range; $N = 100$ -- 2200. The best fit gives $2 ν_K \simeq 1.11$ -- 1.16 with good fitting curves in the whole range of $N$. The estimate of… ▽ More
