Search for the decay $J/ψ\toγ+ \rm {invisible}$

Abstract: We search for $J/ψ$ radiative decays into a weakly interacting neutral particle, namely an invisible particle, using the $J/ψ$ produced through the process $ψ(3686)\toπ^+π^-J/ψ$ in a data sample of $(448.1\pm2.9)\times 10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ decays collected by the BESIII detector at BEPCII. No significant signal is observed. Observation of the $Y(4220)$ and $Y(4360)$ in the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to ηJ/ψ$

Abstract: The cross sections of the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to ηJ/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies ($\sqrt{s}$) between 3.81 and 4.60 GeV are measured with high precision by using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Three structures are observed by analyzing the lineshape of the measured cross sections, and a maximum-likelihood fit including three resonances is pe… ▽ More The cross sections of the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to ηJ/ψ$ at center-of-mass energies ($\sqrt{s}$) between 3.81 and 4.60 GeV are measured with high precision by using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Three structures are observed by analyzing the lineshape of the measured cross sections, and a maximum-likelihood fit including three resonances is performed by assuming the lowest lying structure is the $ψ(4040)$. For the other resonances, we obtain masses of $(4218.7 \pm 4.0 \pm 2.5)$ and $(4380.4 \pm 14.2 \pm 1.8)$ MeV/c$^{2}$ with corresponding widths of $(82.5 \pm 5.9 \pm 0.5)$ and $(147.0 \pm 63.0 \pm 25.8)$ MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. The measured resonant parameters are consistent with those of the $Y(4220)$ and $Y(4360)$ from pr evious measurements of different final states. Model-independent determination of the relative strong-phase difference between $D^0$ and $\bar{D}^0\rightarrow K^0_{S,L}π^+π^-$ and its impact on the measurement of the CKM angle $γ/φ_3$

Abstract: Crucial inputs for a variety of $CP$-violation studies can be determined through the analysis of pairs of quantum-entangled neutral $D$ mesons, which are produced in the decay of the $ψ(3770)$ resonance. Using these parameters, the associated uncertainty on the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle $γ/φ_3$ is expected to be between $0.7^\circ$ and $1.2^\circ$, for an analysis using the decay $B^{\pm}\rightarrow DK^{\pm}$, $D\rightarrow K^0_Sπ^+π^-$, where $D$ represents a superposition of $D^0$ and $\bar{D^0}$ states. This is a factor of three smaller than that achievable with previous measurements. Abstract: The processes $X(3872)\to D^{*0}\bar{D^{0}}+c.c.,~γJ/ψ,~γψ(2S),$ and $γD^{+}D^{-}$ are searched for in a $9.0~\rm fb^{-1}$ data sample collected at center-of-mass energies between $4.178$ and $4.278$ GeV with the BESIII detector. We observe $X(3872)\to D^{*0}\bar{D^{0}}+c.c.$ and find evidence for $X(3872)\toγJ/ψ$ with statistical significances of $7.4σ$ and $3.5σ$, respectively. Observation of the $X(2370)$ and search for the $X(2120)$ in $J/ψ\toγK\bar{K} η'$

Abstract: Using a sample of $1.31\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of $J/ψ\toγK\bar{K}η'$. The $X(2370)$ is observed in the $K\bar{K}η'$ invariant-mass distribution with a statistical significance of 8.3$σ$. Its resonance parameters are measured to be $M = 2341.6 \pm 6.5\text{(stat.)} \pm 5.7\text{(syst.)}$~MeV/$c^{2}$ and… ▽ More Using a sample of $1.31\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of $J/ψ\toγK\bar{K}η'$. No evident signal for the $X(2120)$ is observed in the $K\bar{K}η'$ invariant-mass distribution. The upper limits for the product branching fractions of $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to γX(2120)\toγK^{+} K^{-} η')$ and $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\toγX(2120)\toγK_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} η')$ are determined to be $1.49\times10^{-5}$ and $6.38\times10^{-6}$ at the 90% confidence level, respectively. △ Less

The branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to π^+π^-π^0)$ is measured to be $(2.188 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.024 \pm0.040 (Γ_{ee}^{J/ψ}))\%$, where $Γ_{ee}^{J/ψ}$ is the dileptonic width of $J/ψ$. Abstract: There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in the subjects of hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like $XYZ$ states at BESIII and $B$ factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related $X(1835)$ meson state at BESIII, as well as the thre… ▽ More There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in the subjects of hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like $XYZ$ states at BESIII and $B$ factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related $X(1835)$ meson state at BESIII, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons. We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESIII over the remaining lifetime of BEPCII operation. This survey will help in the optimization of the data-taking plan over the coming years, and provides physics motivation for the possible upgrade of BEPCII to higher luminosity. △ Less

Abstract: The SU(3)-flavor violating decay $J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}+c.c.$ is studied using $(1310.6\pm7.0)\times 10^{6} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII and the branching fraction is measured to be ${\cal{B}}(J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}+c.c.)=(3.17\pm0.02_{\rm stat.}\pm0.08_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-4}$. This is consistent with previous measurements with an improved precision. Observation of the decays $χ_{cJ} \to φφη$

Abstract: Using a data sample of $(448.1\pm2.9)\times10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ decays collected by the BESIII detector at the Bei**g Electron Positron Collider (BEPCII), we observe the decays $χ_{cJ}\to φφη~(J=0,~1,~2)$, where the $χ_{cJ}$ are produced via the radiative processes $ψ(3686)\toγχ_{cJ}$. The $D_{1}(2420)^+$ is observed in the $D^{+} π^{+} π^{-}$ mass spectrum. The mass and width of the $D_{1}(2420)^+$ are measured to be $(2427.2\pm 1.0_{\rm stat.}\pm 1.2_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}/c^2$ and $(23.2\pm 2.3_{\rm stat.} \pm2.3_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}$, respectively. The first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. Observation of the leptonic decay $D^+ \to τ^+ ν_τ$

Abstract: We report the first observation of $D^+\toτ^+ν_τ$ with a significance of $5.1σ$. We measure ${\cal B}(D^+\toτ^+ν_τ) = (1.20\pm0.24_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.12_{\text{syst.}})\times10^{-3}$. Taking the world average ${\cal B}(D^+\toμ^+ν_μ) = (3.74\pm0.17)\times10^{-4}$, we obtain $R_{τ/μ} =Γ(D^+\toτ^+ν_τ)/Γ(D^+\toμ^+ν_μ) = 3.21\pm0.64_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.43_{\text{syst.}}$, which is consistent with the St… ▽ More We report the first observation of $D^+\toτ^+ν_τ$ with a significance of $5.1σ$. Observation of the Semileptonic $D^+$ Transition into an Axial-Vector Meson $\bar K_1(1270)^0$

Abstract: By analyzing a 2.93~$\rm fb^{-1}$ data sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions, recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 $\rm \,GeV$ with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider, we have searched for the semileptonic $D^+$ transition into the axial-vector meson ${\bar{K}}_{1}(1270)^{0}$. Measurement of branching fractions for $D$ meson decaying into $φ$ meson and a pseudoscalar meson

The branching fractions of the first three decay modes are measured to be ${\cal B}(D^{0}\toφπ^{0})=(1.168\pm0.028\pm0.028)\times10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(D^{0}\toφη)=(1.81\pm0.46\pm0.06)\times10^{-4}$, and ${\cal B}(D^{+}\toφπ^{+})=(5.70\pm0.05\pm0.13)\times10^{-3}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. No significant signal is observed of the decay $D^+\toφ{K^+}$ and the upper limit of its branching fraction is set for the first time, to be $2.1\times10^{-5}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level. The ratio of ${\cal B}(D^0\toφπ^0)$ to $\cal B(D^+\toφπ^+)$ is calculated to be $(20.49\pm0.50\pm0.45)\%$, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction based on isospin symmetry between these two decay modes. △ Less

Abstract: We measure the Born cross sections of the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to K^{+}K^{-}K^{+}K^{-}$ at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies, $\sqrt{s}$, between 2.100 and 3.080 GeV. The data were collected using the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. An enhancement at $\sqrt{s}= 2.232$ GeV is observed, very close to the $e^{+}e^{-} \to Λ\overlineΛ$ production threshold. Abstract: Using a data sample of $1.31\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a search for $η'\toγγη$ via $J/ψ\toγη'$ is performed for the first time. No significant $η'$ signal is observed in the $γγη$ invariant mass spectrum, and the %upper limit of the branching fraction of $η'\toγγη$ is determined to be less than $1.33 \times 10^{-4}$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level. Using a data sample of $1.31\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a search for $η'\toγγη$ via $J/ψ\toγη'$ is performed for the first time. Measurement of Branching Fractions of $ψ(3686)\rightarrowφη^\prime, φf_1(1285)$ and $φη(1405)$

Abstract: Using a sample of $448.1\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of the decay $ψ(3686) \rightarrow φπ^{+}π^{-}η$. The branching fraction of $ψ(3686)\rightarrowφη^\prime$ is determined to be $(1.51\pm0.16\pm0.12)\times 10^{-5}$, which is consistent with the previous measurement but with significantly improved precision. The resonances $f_{1}(1285)$ and… ▽ More Using a sample of $448.1\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of the decay $ψ(3686) \rightarrow φπ^{+}π^{-}η$. The branching fraction of $ψ(3686)\rightarrowφη^\prime$ is determined to be $(1.51\pm0.16\pm0.12)\times 10^{-5}$, which is consistent with the previous measurement but with significantly improved precision. The resonances $f_{1}(1285)$ and $η(1405)$ are clearly observed in the $π^{+}π^{-}η$ mass spectrum with statistical significances of $18σ$ and $9.7σ$, respectively. The corresponding product branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686)\rightarrowφf_{1}(1285),f_{1}(1285)\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}η) =(1.03\pm0.10\pm0.09)\times 10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686)\rightarrowφη(1405),η(1405)\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}η) =(8.46\pm1.37\pm0.92)\times 10^{-6}$. △ Less

The Born cross section~($σ_{p\bar{p}}$) of $e^+e^- \rightarrow p\bar{p}$ is measured with the energy-scan technique and it is found to be consistent with previously published data, but with much improved accuracy. In addition, the electromagnetic form-factor ratio ($|G_{E}/G_{M}|$) and the value of the effective ($|G_{\rm{eff}}|$), electric ($|G_E|$) and magnetic ($|G_M|$) form factors are measured by studying the helicity angle of the proton at 16 center-of-mass energy points. $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$ and $|G_M|$ are determined with high accuracy, providing uncertainties comparable to data in the space-like region, and $|G_E|$ is measured for the first time. We reach unprecedented accuracy, and precision results in the time-like region provide information to improve our understanding of the proton inner structure and to test theoretical models which depend on non-perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics. △ Less

Partial-wave analysis of $J/ψ\to K^+K^-π^0$

The analysis, which is performed within the isobar-model approach, reveals contributions from $K^*_2(1430)^\pm$, $K^*_2(1980)^\pm$ and $K^*_4(2045)^\pm$ decaying to $K^\pmπ^0$. Complete measurement of $Λ$ electromagnetic form factors

A data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 66.9 pb$^{-1}$, was collected with the BESIII detector for this purpose. A multi-dimensional analysis with a complete decom… ▽ More The exclusive process $e^+e^-\rightarrowΛ\barΛ$, with $Λ\to pπ^-$ and $\barΛ \to \bar{p}π^+$, has been studied at $\sqrt{s} =$ 2.396 GeV for measurement of the $Λ$ electric and magnetic form factors, $G_E$ and $G_M$. A data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 66.9 pb$^{-1}$, was collected with the BESIII detector for this purpose. A multi-dimensional analysis with a complete decomposition of the spin structure of the reaction enables a determination of the modulus of the ratio $R=|G_E/G_M|$ and, for the first time for any baryon, the relative phase $ΔΦ=Φ_E-Φ_M$. The resulting values are obtained using the recent and most precise measured value of the asymmetry parameter $α_Λ$ = $0.750~\pm~0.010$ to be $R~=~0.96\pm0.14~(\rm stat.)\pm~0.02~(\rm sys.)$ and $ΔΦ=37^{\mathrm{o}}\pm~12^{\mathrm{o}}~(\rm stat.)\pm~6^{\mathrm{o}}~(\rm sys.)$, respectively. In addition, the cross section is measured with unprecedented precision to be $σ= 118.7~\pm~5.3~(\rm stat.)\pm~5.1~(\rm sys.)$ pb, which corresponds to an effective form factor of $|G|=0.123~\pm~0.003~(\rm stat.)\pm~0.003~(\rm sys.)$. The contribution from two-photon exchange is found to be negligible. Our result enables the first complete determination of baryon time-like electromagnetic form factors. △ Less

The proposed heavy-quark-spin-symmetry partner of the $X(3872)$, the state $X_{2}(4013)$, is also searched for in the $D\bar{D}$ invariant mass spectra. No obvious signal is found. The upper limit of the Born cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to ρ^{0}X_{2}(4013)$ combined with the branching fraction is measured. Also, the processes $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)\bar{D} + c.c.$ are investigated. The neutral mode with $D_{1}(2420)^{0}\to D^{0}π^{+}π^{-}$ is reported with statistical significance of 7.4$σ$ at $\sqrt{s} = 4.42$ GeV for the first time, and evidence with statistical significance of 3.2$σ$ and 3.3$σ$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.36 and 4.60 GeV is seen, respectively. No evident signal for the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)^{0}\bar{D}^{0} + c.c., D_{1}(2420)^{0}\to D^{*+}π^{-}$ is reported. Evidence for $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)^{+}D^{-} +~c.c., D_{1}(2420)^{+}\to D^{+}π^{+}π^{-}$ is reported with statistical significance of 3.1$σ$ and 3.0$σ$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.36 and 4.42 GeV, respectively. △ Less

Abstract: We study the $e^+e^-\toγωJ/ψ$ process using $11.6 ~\rm fb^{-1}$ $e^+ e^-$ annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from $\sqrt{s}=4.008~\rm GeV$ to $4.600~\rm GeV$ with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The $X(3872)$ resonance is observed for the first time in the $ωJ/ψ$ system with a significance of more than $5σ$. The $\sqrt{s}$-dependent cross section of $e^+e^-\toγX(3872)$ is also measured and investigated, and it can be described by a single Breit-Wigner resonance, referred to as the $Y(4200)$, with a mass of $4200.6^{+7.9}_{-13.3}\pm3.0~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $115^{+38}_{-26}\pm12~{\rm MeV}$. In addition, to describe the $ωJ/ψ$ mass distribution above $3.9~\rm GeV/c^2$, we need at least one additional Breit-Wigner resonance, labeled as $X(3915)$, in the fit. The mass and width of the $X(3915)$ are measured to be $3926.4\pm2.2\pm1.2~\rm MeV/c^2$ and $3.8\pm7.5\pm2.6~\rm MeV$, or $3932.6\pm8.7\pm4.7~\rm MeV/c^2$ and $59.7\pm15.5\pm3.7~\rm MeV$, respectively, depending on the fit models. The resonant parameters of the $X(3915)$ agree with those of the $Y(3940)$ in $B\to KωJ/ψ$ and of the $X(3915)$ in $γγ\toωJ/ψ$ by the Belle and BABAR experiments within errors. △ Less

We present the first measurement of the $K_{S}^{0}$-$K_{L}^{0}$ asymmetry in the decays $D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{S,L}^{0}K^{+}$, and $R(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{S,L}^{0}K^{+})=\frac{\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K^{+}) -\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{L}^{0}K^{+})}{\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K^{+}) +\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{L}^{0}K^{+})}= (-2.1\pm1.9_{\rm stat.}\pm1.6_{\rm syst.})\%$. Observation of $ψ(3686)\to p\bar{p}φ$

Abstract: Using $4.48 \times 10^{8}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the decays $χ_{cJ} \rightarrow μ^{+}μ^{-}J/ψ$ through the radiative decays $ψ(3686) \rightarrow γχ_{cJ}$, where $J=0,1,2$. The decays $χ_{c1,2} \rightarrow μ^{+}μ^{-}J/ψ$ are observed, and the corresponding branching fractions are measured to be… ▽ More Using $4.48 \times 10^{8}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the decays $χ_{cJ} \rightarrow μ^{+}μ^{-}J/ψ$ through the radiative decays $ψ(3686) \rightarrow γχ_{cJ}$, where $J=0,1,2$. The decays $χ_{c1,2} \rightarrow μ^{+}μ^{-}J/ψ$ are observed, and the corresponding branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1} \rightarrow μ^{+}μ^{-}J/ψ) = (2.51 \pm 0.18 \pm 0.20)\times10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2} \rightarrow μ^{+}μ^{-}J/ψ) = (2.33 \pm 0.18 \pm 0.29)\times10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second one systematic. No significant $χ_{c0} \rightarrow μ^{+}μ^{-}J/ψ$ decay is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be $2.0\times10^{-5}$ at 90% confidence level. Observation of the decay $X(3872) \to π^0 χ_{c1}(1P)$

Abstract: We report a study of the decay $D^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_{e}$ based on a sample of $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The total branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_{e})=(1.434\pm0.029({\rm stat.})\pm0.032({\rm syst.}))\%$, whic… ▽ More We report a study of the decay $D^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_{e}$ based on a sample of $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The total branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow \bar{K}^0π^-e^+ν_{e})=(1.434\pm0.029({\rm stat.})\pm0.032({\rm syst.}))\%$, which is the most precise to date. According to a detailed analysis of the involved dynamics, we find this decay is dominated with the $K^{*}(892)^-$ contribution and present an improved measurement of its branching fraction to be $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)=(2.033\pm0.046({\rm stat.})\pm0.047({\rm syst.}))\%$. We further access their hadronic form-factor ratios for the first time as $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.46\pm0.07({\rm stat.})\pm0.02({\rm syst.})$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.67\pm0.06({\rm stat.})\pm0.01({\rm syst.})$. In addition, we observe a significant $\bar{K}^0π^-$ $S$-wave component accounting for $(5.51\pm0.97({\rm stat.})\pm0.62({\rm syst.}))\%$ of the total decay rate. △ Less

Study of the Dalitz decay $J/ψ\to e^+e^- η$
