Two-dimensional band dispersion of (2$\times$2) superstructure with Bi grown on Ag(111), which has been urged as an ultraflat hexagonal bismuthene, is investigated using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). The (2$\times$2)-Bi superstructure can be grown on the Ag(111) surface at low temperatures; it transforms into a surface alloy with a ($\sqrt{3}\times\sqrt{3}$) superstructure at 300 K. ARPES measurements reveal the consistency with the band structure of ultraflat bismuthene in previous reports. The band structure of (2$\times$2)-Bi surface remains unchanged with decreasing Ag layer thickness, indicating the limited penetration of Bi p-orbitals into the Ag layer.

We analyzed the X-ray photoemission spectra (XPS) of carbon 1s states in graphene and oxygen-intercalated graphene grown on SiC(0001) using Bayesian spectroscopy. To realize highly accurate spectral decomposition of the XPS spectra, we proposed a framework for discovering physical constraints from the absence of prior quantified physical knowledge, in which we designed the prior probabilities based on the found constraints and the physically required conditions. This suppresses the exchange of peak components during replica exchange Monte Carlo iterations and makes possible to decompose XPS in the case where a reliable structure model or a presumable number of components is not known. As a result, we have successfully decomposed XPS of one monolayer (1ML), two monolayers (2ML), and quasi-freestanding 2ML (qfs-2ML) graphene samples deposited on SiC substrates with the meV order precision of the binding energy, in which the posterior probability distributions of the binding energies were obtained distinguishably between the different components of buffer layer even though they are observed as hump and shoulder structures because of their overlap**.

The transitions of the $n=2$ triplet states provide a unique laboratory in which to study nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics, as the kinematic threshold for production of an $ω$ and $Υ(1S)$ lies between the $J=0$ and $J=1$ states. A search for the $χ_{bJ}(3P)$ states is also reported.

In the Standard Model (SM) charmless hadronic decays $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$ proceed via tree-level $b\to u$ and penguin $b\to s$ transitions. Penguin transitions are sensitive to Beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) physics scenarios and could affect the branching fractions and {\it CP} asymmetries in such decays. Once branching fractions for two-body decays $B_s \to ηη, ηη^{\prime}, η^{\prime}η^{\prime} $ are measured, and the theoretical uncertainties are reduced, it would be possible to extract {\it CP} violating parameters from the data using the formalism based on SU(3)/U(3) symmetry. To achieve this goal, at least four of these six branching fractions need to be measured. Only the branching fraction for $B_s^0 \to η^{\prime}η^{\prime}$ has been measured so far.

The enhancement of charged-particle pairs with large pseudorapidity difference and small azimuthal angle difference, often referred to as the ``ridge signal'', is a phenomenon widely observed in high multiplicity proton-proton, proton-ion and deutron-ion collisions, which is not yet fully understood. In heavy-ion collisions, the hydrodynamic expansion of the Quark-Gluon Plasma is one of the possible explanations of the origin of the ridge signal. Measurements in the $e^+e^-$ collision system, without the complexities introduced by hadron structure in the initial state, can serve as a complementary probe to examine the formation of a ridge signal. The first measurement of two-particle angular correlation functions in high multiplicity $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=10.52$ GeV is reported. The hadronic $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB are used in this study. Two-particle angular correlation functions are measured over the full azimuth and large pseudorapidity intervals which are defined by either the electron beam axis or the event thrust as a function of charged particle multiplicity. The measurement in the event thrust analysis, with mostly outgoing quark pairs determining the reference axis, is sensitive to the region of additional soft gluon emissions. No significant ridge signal is observed with either coordinates analyses. Near side jet correlations appear to be absent in the thrust axis analysis. The measurements are compared to predictions from various event generators and expected to provide new constraints to the phenomenological models in the low energy regime.

We have performed scanning tunneling microscope (STM) and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) in Pb-deposited bilayer Graphene (BLG) on SiC(0001) substrate to investigate the dependence of the electronic structures on Pb-deposition amount. We have observed that the Pb atoms form islands by STM and the $π$ bands of the BLG shift toward the Fermi level by ARPES. This hole-do**-like energy shift is enhanced as the amount of Pb is increased, and we were able to tune the Dirac gap to the Fermi level by 4 ML deposition. Considering the band dispersion, we suggest that hole-do**-like effect is related to the difference between the work functions of Pb islands and BLG/SiC; the work function of BLG/SiC is lower than that of Pb. Our results propose an easy way of band tuning for graphene with appropriate selection of both the substrate and deposited material.

Surface electronic structure and its one-dimensionality above and below the Fermi level ($E_{\rm F}$) were surveyed on the Bi/GaSb(110)-(2$\times$1) surface hosting quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) Bi chains, using conventional (one-photon) and two-photon angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES) and theoretical calculations. ARPES results reveal that the Q1D electronic states are within the projected bulk bandgap. Circular dichroism of two-photon ARPES and density-functional-theory calculation indicate clear spin and orbital polarization of the surface states consistent with the giant sizes of Rashba-type SOI, derived from the strong contribution of heavy Bi atoms. The surface conduction band above $E_{\rm F}$ forms a nearly straight constant-energy contour, suggesting its suitability for application in further studies of one-dimensional electronic systems with strong SOI. A tight-binding model calculation based on the obtained surface electronic structure successfully reproduces the surface band dispersions and predicts possible one- to two-dimensional crossover in the temperature range of 60--100~K.

The analysis utilizes a method where the tag-side $B$ meson is reconstructed in a semileptonic decay mode, and the signal-side $τ$ is reconstructed in a purely leptonic decay. The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D)= 0.307 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.016$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{\ast})= 0.283 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.014$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions within $0.2$ and $1.1$ standard deviations, respectively, while their combination agrees with the Standard Model predictions within $1.2$ standard deviations.

The precise determination of the CKM matrix element $\left| V_{cb}\right|$ is important for carrying out tests of the flavour sector of the Standard Model. In this article we present a preliminary analysis of the $\bar B^0 \to D^{*\,+} \, \ell^- \, \bar ν_\ell$ decay mode and its charge conjugate, selected in events that contain a fully reconstructed $B$-meson, using 772 million $e^+ \, e^- \to Υ(4S) \to B \bar B$ events recorded by the Belle detector at KEKB. Unfolded differential decay rates of four kinematic variables fully describing the $\bar B^0 \to D^{*\,+} \, \ell^- \, \bar ν_\ell$ decay in the $B$-meson rest frame are presented. We measure the total branching fraction $\mathcal{B}( \bar B^0 \to D^{*\,+} \, \ell^- \, \bar ν_\ell ) = \left(4.95 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.22 \right) \times 10^{-2}$, where the errors are statistical and systematic respectively. The value of $\left|V_{cb} \right|$ is determined to be $\left( 37.4 \pm 1.3 \right) \times 10^{-3}$. Both results are in good agreement with current world averages.

We report the first observation of the polarization of $Λ/\barΛ$ hyperons transverse to its production plane in $e^+e^-$ annihilation. We observe a significant polarization that rises with the fractional energy carried by the hyperon as well as its transverse momentum. To define the production plane, we use the direction of the hyperon momentum together with either the thrust axis in the event or the momentum vector of a hadron in the opposite hemisphere. Furthermore, we investigate the contributions to the hyperon polarization from the feed-down from $Σ^0/\barΣ^0$ and $Λ_c^{\pm}$ decays. This measurement uses a dataset of 800.4fb$^{-1}$ collected by the Belle experiment at or near a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV.

The large sample allows us to probe the total decay width of the χ_{b0}(1P). In the absence of a statistically significant result, a 90% confidence-level upper limit is set on the width at Γ_{total}< 2.4 MeV. Our results are based on 24.7 fb^{-1} of e+e- collision data recorded by the Belle detector at the Υ(2S) resonance, corresponding to (157.8\pm3.6)\times10^6 Υ(2S) decays.

We present an extraction of azimuthal correlations between two pairs of charged pions detected in opposite jets from electron-positron annihilation. These correlations may arise from the dependence of the di-pion fragmentation on the polarization of the parent quark in the process $e^+e^- \rightarrow q \bar{q}$. Due to the correlation of the quark polarizations, the cross-section of di-pion pair production, in which the pion pairs are detected in opposite jets in a dijet event, exhibits a modulation in the azimuthal angles of the planes containing the hadron pairs with respect to the production plane. The measurement of this modulation allows access to combinations of fragmentation functions that are sensitive to the quark's transverse polarization and helicity. Within our uncertainties we do not observe a significant signal from the previously unmeasured helicity dependent fragmentation function $G_1^\perp$. This measurement uses a dataset of 938~fb$^{-1}$ collected by the Belle experiment at or near $\sqrt{s}\approx10.58$ GeV.

Using the full data sample of $772\times10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB accelerator the upper limit is $r_S < 0.87$ at the 68 % confidence level. This result is the first measurement of $r_S$ with a model-independent Dalitz analysis, and is consistent with results from other analyses. The value of $r_S$ indicates the sensitivity of the decay to $φ_3$ because the statistical uncertainty is proportional to $1/r_S$. The $r_S$ result is obtained from observables ($x_\pm$, $y_\pm$) \begin{eqnarray} x_- &=& +0.4 ^{+1.0 +0.0}_{-0.6 -0.1} \pm0.0 \\
y_- &=& -0.6 ^{+0.8 +0.1}_{-1.0 -0.0} \pm0.1
\\
x_+ &=& +0.1 ^{+0.7 +0.0}_{-0.4 -0.1} \pm0.1
\\
y_+ &=& +0.3 ^{+0.5 +0.0}_{-0.8 -0.1} \pm0.1
\\
, \end{eqnarray} where $x_\pm = r_S \cos(δ_S \pm φ_3)$, $y_\pm = r_S \sin(δ_S \pm φ_3)$ and $φ_3 (δ_S)$ are the weak (strong) phase difference between $B^0 \to D^0K^{*0}$ and $B^0 \to \bar{D^0}K^{*0}$. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic and the third is the systematic due to the uncertainties on $c_i$ and $s_i$ parameters measured by CLEO.

We report preliminary results on the analysis of the three-body Y(10860)=> B barB pi, Y(10860) => (B barB* + c.c.) pi and Y(10860)=> B* barB* pi decays including an observation of the Y(10860)=> Zb(10610)+- pi-+ => [B barB*+c.c]+- pi-+ and Y(10860)=> Zb(10650)+- pi-+ => [B* barB*]+- pi-+ decays as intermediate channels. We measure branching fractions of the three-body decays to be Br(Y(10860)=> [B barB*+c.c.]+- pi-+)=(28.3+-2.9+-4.6)x10^{-3} and Br(Y(10860)=> [B* barB*]+- pi-+)=(14.1+-1.9+-2.4)x10^{-3} and set 90% C.L. upper limit Br(Y(10860)=> [B barB]+- pi-+)<4.0x10^{-3}. We also report results on the amplitude analysis of the three-body Y(10860)=>Y(nS)pi+pi-, n=1,2,3 decays and the analysis of the internal structure of the three-body Y(10860)=>hb(mP)pi+pi-, m=1,2 decays. The results are based on a 121.4 1/fb data sample collected with the Belle detector at a center-of-mass energy near the Y(10860).

Abstract:
We report the first observation of Y(5S) -> Y(1,2S) pi0 pi0 decays. Evidence for the Zb0(10610) with 4.9sigma significance is found in a Dalitz plot analysis of Y(5S) -> Y(2S) pi0 pi0 decays. The results are obtained with a 121.4 fb^-1 data sample collected with the Belle detector at the Y(5S) resonance at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.

The Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider has collected almost 1 billion Y(4S) events in its decade of operation. Super-KEKB, an upgrade of KEKB is under construction, to increase the luminosity by two orders of magnitude during a three-year shutdown, with an ultimate goal of 8E35 /cm^2 /s luminosity. To exploit the increased luminosity, an upgrade of the Belle detector has been proposed. A new international collaboration Belle-II, is being formed. The Technical Design Report presents physics motivation, basic methods of the accelerator upgrade, as well as key improvements of the detector.
