Fundamental studies of the interaction of chiral light with chiral matter are important for the development of techniques that allow handedness-selective optical detection of chiral organic molecules. One approach to achieve this goal is the creation of a Fabry-Pérot cavity that supports eigenmodes with a desired electromagnetic handedness, which interacts differently with left and right molecular enantiomers. In this paper, we theoretically study chiral Fabry-Pérot cavities with mirrors comprising one-dimensional photonic crystal slabs made of van der Waals As$_2$S$_3$, a material with one of the highest known in-plane anisotropy. By utilizing the anisotropy degree of freedom provided by As$_2$S$_3$, we design Fabry-Pérot cavities with constitutional and configurational geometrical chiralities. We demonstrate that in cavities with constitutional chirality, electromagnetic modes of left or right handedness exist due to the chirality of both mirrors, often referred to as handedness preserving mirrors in the literature. At the same time, cavities with configurational chirality support modes of both handednesses due to chiral morphology of the entire structure, set by the twist angle between the optical axes of the upper and lower non-chiral anisotropic mirrors. The developed chiral Fabry-Pérot cavities can be tuned to the technologically available distance between the mirrors by properly twisting them, making such systems a prospective platform for the coupling of chiral light with chiral matter.

The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ has been measured in the center of mass energy range from 0.32 to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000. The measurement is based on a full dataset collected below 1 GeV during three data taking seasons, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 62 pb$^{-1}$. In the dominant $ρ$-resonance region, a systematic uncertainty of 0.7% has been reached. At energies around $φ$-resonance the $π^+π^-$ production cross section was measured for the first time with high beam energy resolution. The forward-backward charge asymmetry in the $π^+π^-$ production has also been measured. It shows a strong deviation from the theoretical prediction based on the conventional scalar quantum electrodynamics framework, and it is in good agreement with the generalized vector-meson-dominance and dispersive-based predictions. The impact of the presented results on the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of muon is discussed.

The aim of the test was to investigate the elastic interactions of muons on atomic electrons, in an experimental configuration similar to the one proposed by the project MUonE, which plans to perform a very precise measurement of the differential cross-section of the elastic interactions. COMPASS was taking data with a 190 GeV pion beam, stopped in a tungsten beam dump: the muons from these pions decays passed through a setup including a graphite target followed by 10 planes of Si tracker and a BGO crystal electromagnetic calorimeter placed at the end of the tracker. The elastic scattering events were analysed, and compared to expectations from MonteCarlo simulation.

Considering the importance of investigating the transit timing variations (TTVs) of transiting exoplanets, we present a follow-up study of HAT-P-12b. We include six new light curves observed between 2011 and 2015 from three different observatories, in association with 25 light curves taken from the published literature. The sample of the data used, thus covers a time span of about 10.2 years with a large coverage of epochs (1160) for the transiting events of the exoplanet HAT-P-12b. The light curves are used to determine the orbital parameters and conduct an investigation of possible transit timing variations. The new linear ephemeris shows a large value of reduced chi-square = 7.93, and the sinusoidal fitting using the prominent frequency coming from a periodogram shows a reduced chi-square around 4. Based on these values and the corresponding O-C diagrams, we suspect the presence of a possible non-sinusoidal TTV in this planetary system. Finally, we find that a scenario with an additional non-transiting exoplanet could explain this TTV with an even smaller reduced chi-square value of around 2.

Motivated by the unsettled conclusion on whether there are any transit timing variations (TTVs) for the exoplanet Qatar-1b, 10 new transit light curves are presented and the TTV analysis with a baseline of 1400 epochs are performed. Because the linear model provides a good fitting with reduced chi-square = 2.59 and the false-alarm probabilities of possible TTV frequencies are as large as 35 %, our results are consistent with a null-TTV model. Nevertheless, a new ephemeris with the reference time T_0 = 2455647.63360\pm 0.00008 (BJD) and the period P= 1.4200236\pm 0.0000001 (day) is obtained. In addition, the updated orbital semi-major axis and planetary radius in unit of stellar radius are being provided, and the lower limit of modified stellar tidal quality factor is also determined.

The paper describes a method of the charged particle identification, developed for the \mbox{CMD-3} detector, installed at the VEPP-2000 $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The method is based on the application of the boosted decision trees classifiers, trained for the optimal separation of electrons, muons, pions and kaons in the momentum range from 100 to $1200~{\rm MeV}/c$. The input variables for the classifiers are linear combinations of the energy depositions of charged particles in 12 layers of the liquid xenon calorimeter of the \mbox{CMD-3}. The event samples for training of the classifiers are taken from the simulation. Various issues of the detector response tuning in simulation and calibration of the calorimeter strip channels are considered. Application of the method is illustrated by the examples of separation of the $e^+e^-(γ)$ and $π^+π^-(γ)$ final states and of selection of the $K^+K^-$ final state at high energies.

We present twelve new transit light curves of the hot-Jupiter TrES-3b observed during $2012-2018$ to probe the transit timing variation (TTV). By combining the mid-transit times determined from these twelve transit data with those re-estimated through uniform procedure from seventy one transit data available in the literature, we derive new linear ephemeris and obtain the timing residuals that suggest the possibility of TTV in TrES-3 system. However, the frequency analysis shows that the possible TTV is unlikely to be periodic, indicating the absence of an additional body in this system. To explore the other possible origins of TTV, the orbital decay and apsidal precession ephemeris models are fitted to the transit time data. We find decay rate of TrES-3b to be $\bf \dot{P_q}= -4.1 \pm 3.1$ $ms$ ${yr}^{-1}$ and the corresponding estimated modified tidal quality factor of ${Q}^{'}_{\ast}$ $\sim 1.11 \times {10}^{5}$ is consistent with the theoretically predicted values for the stars hosting the hot-Jupiters. The shift in the transit arrival time of TrES-3b after eleven years is expected to be ${T}_{shift}\sim 69.55 \ s$, which is consistent with the $RMS$ of the timing residuals. Besides, we find that the apsidal precession ephemeris model is statistically less probable than the other considered ephemeris models. It is also discussed that despite the linear ephemeris model appears to be the most plausible model to represent the transit time data, the possibility of the orbital decay cannot be completely ruled out in TrES-3 system. In order to confirm this, further high-precision and high-cadence follow-up observation of transits of TrES-3b would be important.

The decay mode $η\rightarrowγγ$ is used for $η$ meson reconstruction in the data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $78.3$ pb$^{-1}$. The energy dependence of the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-}$ cross section is fitted within the framework of vector meson dominance in order to extract the $Γ(ρ(1450)\rightarrow{^{+}e^{-}})\mathcal{B}(ρ(1450)\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-})$ and the $Γ(ρ(1700)\rightarrow{e^{+}e^{-}})\mathcal{B}(ρ(1700)\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-})$ products. Based on conservation of vector current, the analysed data are used to test the relationship between the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-}$ cross section and the spectral function in $τ^-\rightarrowηπ^-π^0ν_τ$ decay. The $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-}$ cross section measured with the CMD-$3$ detector is in good agreement with the previous measurements.

The $K^+K^-η$ final state is found to be dominated by the contribution of the $φ(1020)η$ intermediate state. The cross section of the process $e^+e^-{\to}φ(1020)η$ has been measured with a systematic uncertainty of 5.1$\%$ on the base of 3009 $\pm$ 67 selected events. The obtained cross section has been used to calculate the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon: $a_μ^{φη}(E<1.8\, {\rm GeV})=(0.321 \pm 0.015_{\rm stat} \pm 0.016_{\rm syst}) \times 10^{-10}$, $a_μ^{φη}(E<2.0\, {\rm GeV})=(0.440 \pm 0.015_{\rm stat} \pm 0.022_{\rm syst}) \times 10^{-10}$. From the cross section approximation the $φ(1680)$ meson parameters have been determined with better statistical precision, than in previous studies.

COMET is an experiment at J-PARC, Japan, which will search for neutrinoless conversion of muons into electrons in the field of an aluminium nucleus ($μ-e$ conversion, $μ^- N \to e^- N$); a lepton flavor violating process. The experimental sensitivity goal for this process in the Phase-I experiment is $3.1\times10^{-15}$, or 90 % upper limit of branching ratio of $7\times 10^{-15}$, which is a factor of 100 improvement over the existing limit. The expected number of background events is 0.032. To achieve the target sensitivity and background level, the 3.2 kW 8 GeV proton beam from J-PARC will be used. Two types of detectors, CyDet and StrECAL, will be used for detecting the \mue conversion events, and for measuring the beam-related background events in view of the Phase-II experiment, respectively. In frames of agreement to consider the annihilation of electron-positron pair to hadrons cross section to be including the virtual photon polarization effects a new formulation of hadron contribution to muon anomalous magnetic moment is suggested. It consists in using the experimentally observed cross section converted with the known kernels. The lowest order kernel remains to be the same but some modification of radiative corrected kernel is needed. The explicit form of this new kernel is given.
We estimate the accuracy of new formulation on the level δa^{hadr}_μ/a^{hadr}_μ\sim 10^{-5}.

The processes of muons (tau) and charged pions pairs production at electron-positron annihilation with first order radiative corrections are considered. The calculation results are presented assuming the energies of final particles (cms implied) to be not far significantly from threshold production. The invariant mass distributions for the muon (tau) and pion pairs are obtained both for the initial and final state radiation. Some analytical calculations are illustrated numerically. The pions were assumed to be point-like objects and scalar QED was applied for calculation. The QED radiative corrections related to the final state radiation, additional to the well known Coulomb factor, are treated near threshold region exactly.

Recently, various cross sections of e+e- annihilation into hadrons were accurately measured in the energy range from 0.37 to 1.39 GeV with the CMD-2 detector at the VEPP-2M collider. In the pi+pi- channel a systematic uncertainty of 0.6% has been achieved. A Monte-Carlo Generator Photon Jets (MCGPJ) was developed to simulate events of the Bhabha scattering as well as production of two charged pions, kaons and muons. Based on the formalism of Structure Functions, the leading logarithmic contributions related to the emission of photon jets in the collinear region are incorporated into the MC generator. Radiative corrections (RC) in the first order of alpha are accounted for exactly. The theoretical precision of the cross sections with RC is estimated to be better than 0.2%. Numerous tests of the program as well as comparison with other MC generators and CMD-2 experimental data are presented.
