Quantisation with Gaussian type states offers certain advantages over other quantisation schemes, in particular, they can serve to regularise formally discontinuous classical functions leading to well defined quantum operators. In this work we define a squeezed state quantisation in two dimensions using several families of squeezed states for one- and two-mode configurations. The completeness relations of the squeezed states are exploited in order to tackle the quantisation and semiclassical analysis of a constrained position dependent mass model with harmonic potential. The effects of the squeezing parameters on the resulting operators and phase space functions are studied, and configuration space trajectories are compared between the classical and semiclassical models.

A new class of states of light is introduced that is complementary to the well-known squeezed states. The construction is based on the general solution of the three-term recurrence relation that arises from the saturation of the Schrödinger inequality for the quadratures of a single-mode quantized electromagnetic field. The new squeezed states are found to be linear superpositions of the photon-number states whose coefficients are determined by the associated Hermite polynomials. These results do not seem to have been noticed before in the literature. As an example, the new class of squeezed states includes superpositions characterized by odd-photon number states only, so they represent the counterpart of the prototypical squeezed-vacuum state which consists entirely of even-photon number states.

We extend and generalize the construction of Sturm-Liouville problems for a family of Hamiltonians constrained to fulfill a third-order shape-invariance condition and focusing on the "$-2x/3$" hierarchy of solutions to the fourth Painlevé transcendent. Such a construction has been previously addressed in the literature for some particular cases but we realize it here in the most general case. The corresponding potential in the Hamiltonian operator is a rationally extended oscillator defined in terms of the conventional Okamoto polynomials, from which we identify three different zero-modes constructed in terms of the generalized Okamoto polynomials. The third-order ladder operators of the system reveal that the complete set of eigenfunctions is decomposed as a union of three disjoint sequences of solutions, generated from a set of three-term recurrence relations. We also identify a link between the eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian operator and a special family of exceptional Hermite polynomial.

Susskind-Glogower coherent states, whose Fock expansion coefficients include Bessel functions, have recently attracted considerable attention for their optical properties. Nevertheless, identity resolution is still an open question, which is an essential mathematical property that defines an overcomplete basis in the Fock space and allows a coherent state quantization map. In this regard, the modified Susskind-Glogower coherent states have been introduced as an alternative family of states that resolve the identity resolution. In the present manuscript, the quantization map related to the modified Susskind-Glogower coherent states is exploited, which naturally leads to a particular representation of the $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$ Lie algebra in its discrete series. The latter provides evidence about further generalizations of coherent states, built from the Susskind-Glogower ones by extending the indexes of the Bessel functions of the first kind and, alternatively, by employing the modified Bessel functions of the second kind. In this form, the new families of Susskind-Glogower-I and Susskind-Glogower-II coherent states are introduced. The corresponding quantization maps are constructed so that they lead to general representations of elements of the $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$ and $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ Lie algebras as generators of the SU$(1,1)$ and SU$(2)$ unitary irreducible representations respectively. For completeness, the optical properties related to the new families of coherent states are explored and compared with respect to some well-known optical states.

The 2:1 two-dimensional anisotropic quantum harmonic oscillator is considered and new sets of states are defined by means of normal-ordering non-linear operators through the use of non-commutative binomial theorems as well as solving recurrence relations. The states generated are good candidates for the natural generalisation of the $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ coherent states of the two-dimensional isotropic oscillator. The two-dimensional non-linear generalised ladder operators lead to several chains of states which are connected in a non trivial way. The uncertainty relations of the defining chain of states are calculated and it is found that they admit a resolution of the identity and the spatial distribution of the wavefunction produces Lissajous figures in correspondence with the classical 2:1 oscillator.

In this work, we introduce a new realization of exactly-solvable time-dependent Hamiltonians based on the solutions of the fourth Painlevé and the Ermakov equations. The latter is achieved by introducing a shape-invariant condition between an unknown quantum invariant and a set of third-order intertwining operators with time-dependent coefficients. The new quantum invariant is constructed by adding a deformation term to the well-known parametric oscillator invariant. Such a deformation depends explicitly on time through the solutions of the Ermakov equation, which ensures the regularity of the new time-dependent potential of the Hamiltonian at each time. On the other hand, with the aid of the proper reparametrization, the fourth Painlevé equation appears, the parameters of which dictate the spectral behavior of the quantum invariant. In particular, the eigenfunctions of the third-order ladder operators lead to several sequences of solutions to the Schrödinger equation, determined in terms of the solutions of a Riccati equation, Okamoto polynomials, or nonlinear bound states of the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Remarkably, it is noticed that the solutions in terms of the nonlinear bound states lead to a quantum invariant with equidistant eigenvalues, which contains both an (N+1)-dimensional and an infinite sequence of eigenfunctions. The resulting family of time-dependent Hamiltonians is such that, to the authors' knowledge, have been unnoticed in the literature of stationary and nonstationary systems.

We explore the quantization of classical models with position-dependent mass (PDM) terms constrained to a bounded interval in the canonical position. This is achieved through the Weyl-Heisenberg covariant integral quantization by properly choosing a regularizing function $Π(q,p)$ on the phase space that smooths the discontinuities present in the classical model. We thus obtain well-defined operators without requiring the construction of self-adjoint extensions. Simultaneously, the quantization mechanism leads naturally to a semi-classical system, that is, a classical-like model with a well-defined Hamiltonian structure in which the effects of the Planck's constant are not negligible. Interestingly, for a non-separable function $Π(q,p)$, a purely quantum minimal-coupling term arises in the form of a vector potential for both the quantum and semi-classical models.

In this note we address the exact solutions of a time-dependent Hamiltonian composed by an oscillator-like interaction with both a frequency and a mass term that depend on time. The latter is achieved by constructing the appropriate point transformation such that it deforms the Schrödinger equation of a stationary oscillator into the one of the time-dependent model. Thus, the solutions of the latter can be seen as deformations of the well known solutions of the stationary oscillator, and thus an orthogonal set of solutions can be determined in a straightforward way. The latter is possible since the inner product structure is preserved by the point transformation. Also, any invariant operator of the stationary oscillator is transformed into an invariant of the time-dependent model. This property leads to a straightforward way to determine constants of motion without requiring to use ansatz.

New families of time-dependent potentials related to the parametric oscillator are introduced. This is achieved by introducing some general time-dependent operators that factorize the appropriate constant of motion (quantum invariant) of the parametric oscillator, leading to new families of quantum invariants that are almost-isospectral to the initial one. Then, the respective time-dependent Hamiltonians are constructed, and the solutions of the Schrödinger equation are determined from the intertwining relationships and by finding the appropriate time-dependent complex-phases of the Lewis-Riesenfeld approach. To illustrate the results, the set of parameters of the new potentials are fixed such that a family of time-dependent rational extensions of the parametric oscillator is obtained. Moreover, the rational extensions of the harmonic oscillator are recovered in the appropriate limit.

We construct ladder operators, $\tilde{C}$ and $\tilde{C^\dagger}$, for a multi-step rational extension of the harmonic oscillator on the half plane, $x\ge0$. These ladder operators connect all states of the spectrum in only infinite-dimensional representations of their polynomial Heisenberg algebra. For comparison, we also construct two different classes of ladder operator acting on this system that form finite-dimensional as well as infinite-dimensional representations of their respective polynomial Heisenberg algebras. For the rational extension, we construct the position wavefunctions in terms of exceptional orthogonal polynomials. For a particular choice of parameters, we construct the coherent states, eigenvectors of $\tilde{C}$ with generally complex eigenvalues, $z$, as superpositions of a subset of the energy eigenvectors. Then we calculate the properties of these coherent states, looking for classical or non-classical behaviour. We calculate the energy expectation as a function of $|z|$. We plot position probability densities for the coherent states and for the even and odd cat states formed from these coherent states. We plot the Wigner function for a particular choice of $z$. For these coherent states on one arm of a beamsplitter, we calculate the two excitation number distribution and the linear entropy of the output state. We plot the standard deviations in $x$ and $p$ and find no squeezing in the regime considered. By plotting the Mandel $Q$ parameter for the coherent states as a function of $|z|$, we find that the number statistics is sub-Poissonian.

Squeezed states are one of the most useful quantum optical models having various applications in different areas, especially in quantum information processing. Generalized squeezed states are even more interesting since, sometimes, they provide additional degrees of freedom in the system. However, they are very difficult to construct and, therefore, people explore such states for individual setting and, thus, a generic analytical expression for generalized squeezed states is yet inadequate in the literature. In this article, we propose a method for the generalization of such states, which can be utilized to construct the squeezed states for any kind of quantum models. Our protocol works accurately for the case of the trigonometric Rosen-Morse potential, which we have considered as an example. Presumably, the scheme should also work for any other quantum mechanical model. In order to verify our results, we have studied the nonclassicality of the given system using several standard mechanisms. Among them, the Wigner function turns out to be the most challenging from the computational point of view. We, thus, also explore a generalization of the Wigner function and indicate how to compute it for a general system like the trigonometric Rosen-Morse potential with a reduced computation time.

We construct the coherent states of general order, $m$ for the ladder operators, $c(m)$ and $c^\dagger(m)$, which act on rational deformations of the harmonic oscillator. The position wavefunctions of the eigenvectors involve type III Hermite exceptional orthogonal polynomials. We plot energy expectations, time-dependent position probability densities for the coherent states and for the even and odd cat states, Wigner functions, and Heisenberg uncertainty relations. We find generally non-classical behaviour, with one exception: there is a regime of large magnitude of the coherent state parameter, $z$, where the otherwise indistinct position probability density separates into $m+1$ distinct wavepackets oscillating and colliding in the potential, forming interference fringes when they collide. The Mandel $Q$ parameter is calculated to find sub-Poissonian statistics, another indicator of non-classical behaviour. We plot the position standard deviation and find squeezing in many of the cases. We calculate the two-photon-number probability density for the output state when the $m=4$, $μ=-5$ coherent states (where $μ$ labels the lowest weight in the superposition) are placed on one arm of a beamsplitter. We find that it does not factorize, again indicating non-classical behaviour. Calculation of the linear entropy for this beamsplitter output state shows significant entanglement, another non-classical feature. We also construct linearized versions, $\tilde c(m)$, of the annihilation operators and their coherent states and calculate the same properties that we investigate for the coherent states. For these we find similar behaviour to the $c(m)$ coherent states, at much smaller magnitudes of $z$, but comparable average energies.

It was at the dawn of the historical developments of quantum mechanics when Schrödinger, Kennard and Darwin proposed an interesting type of Gaussian wave packets, which do not spread out while evolving in time. Originally, these wave packets are the prototypes of the renowned discovery, which are familiar as coherent states today. Coherent states are inevitable in the study of almost all areas of modern science, and the rate of progress of the subject is astonishing nowadays. Nonclassical states constitute one of the distinguished branches of coherent states having applications in various subjects including quantum information processing, quantum optics, quantum superselection principles and mathematical physics. On the other hand, the compelling advancements of non-Hermitian systems and related areas have been appealing, which became popular with the seminal paper by Bender and Boettcher in 1998. The subject of non-Hermitian Hamiltonian systems possessing real eigenvalues are exploding day by day and combining with almost all other subjects rapidly, in particular, in the areas of quantum optics, lasers and condensed matter systems, where one finds ample successful experiments for the proposed theory. For this reason, the study of coherent states for non-Hermitian systems have been very important. In this article, we review the recent developments of coherent and nonclassical states for such systems and discuss their applications and usefulness in different contexts of physics. In addition, since the systems considered here originate from the broader context of the study of minimal uncertainty relations, our review is also of interest to the mathematical physics community.

In doing so, we study basic properties of such states like continuity in the complex parameter, resolution of the identity, probability density, time evolution and possibility of entanglement.

In this article, we study the nonclassical behaviour of nonlinear coherent states for generalised classes of models corresponding to the generalised ladder operators. A comparative analysis among them indicates that the models with quadratic spectrum are more nonclassical than the others. Our central result is further underpinned by the comparison of the degree of nonclassicality of squeezed states of the corresponding models.

We construct the photon added coherent states of a noncommutative harmonic oscillator associated to a $q$-deformed oscillator algebra. Various nonclassical properties of the corresponding system are explored, first, by studying two different types of higher order quadrature squeezing, namely the Hillery-type and the Hong--Mandel-type and, second, by testing the sub-Poissonian nature of photon statistics in higher order with the help of the correlation function and the Mandel parameter. By comparing our results with those of the usual harmonic oscillator, we notice that the quadratures and photon number distributions in noncommutative case are more squeezed for the same values of the parameters and, thus, the photon added coherent states of noncommutative harmonic oscillator may be more nonclassical in comparison to the ordinary harmonic oscillator.

By analysing various nonclassical properties we find that the odd Schrödinger cat states are more nonclassical than the even Schrödinger cat states, hence producing more entanglement, which in turn are more nonclassical than coherent states. Both the nonclassicality and the entanglement can be enhanced by increasing the noncommutativity of the underlying space. In addition we find as a by-product some rare explicit minimum uncertainty quadrature and number squeezed states, i.e. ideal squeezed states.

We provide an explicit construction of entangled states in a noncommutative space with nonclassical states, particularly with the squeezed states. Noncommutative systems are found to be more entangled than the usual quantum mechanical systems. The noncommutative parameter provides an additional degree of freedom in the construction by which one can raise the entanglement of the noncommutative systems to fairly higher values beyond the usual systems. Despite of having classical-like behaviour, coherent states in noncommutative space produce little amount of entanglement and therefore they possess slight nonclassicality as well, which are not true for the coherent states of ordinary harmonic oscillator.

A supersymmetric partner system is also presented, as well as a construction of coherent states in this new system. We show that these states can be chosen, in both systems to have many properties usually expected for coherent states. In particular, they yield highly localised wave packets for a short period of time, which evolve in a quasi-classical manner and which saturate approximately Heisenberg uncertainty relation. These studies are elaborated in one- and two-dimensional contexts. Finally, some relations are established between the gaussian states being mostly used here and the generalised coherent states, which are more standardly found in the literature.

In the classical case, this construction is related to the existence of closed trajectories. In particular, we apply these results to the infinite well and Morse potentials. We discuss how the degeneracies of the permutation symmetry of quantum two-dimensional systems can be explained using products of ladder operators. These products satisfy interesting commutation relations. The two-dimensional Morse quantum system is also related to a generalized two-dimensional Morse supersymmetric model. Arithmetical or accidental degeneracies of such system are shown to be associated to additional supersymmetry.

At the same time, we propose a two-step scheme for the recursive production of the integrals of motion for the N=2, a=4-SKdV. First, we find a new Gardner's deformation of the Kaup-Boussinesq equation, which is contained in the bosonic limit of the super-hierarchy. This yields the recurrence relation between the Hamiltonians of the limit, whence we determine the bosonic super-Hamiltonians of the full N=2, a=4-SKdV hierarchy. Our method is applicable towards the solution of Gardner's deformation problems for other supersymmetric KdV-type systems.

For initial profiles that can not be distinguished from a one-soliton solution at times t<<0, we reveal the possibility of a spontaneous decay and, within a finite time, transformation into a solitonic solution with a different wave number. This paradoxal effect is realized by the completely integrable N=2 super-KdV systems, whenever the initial soliton is loaded with other solitons that are virtual and become manifest through the tau-function as the time grows.

These manifolds are not generically symmetric, but there is a subset of quaternionic manifolds that are symmetric and Einstein. A further subset of these manifolds are the magic square manifolds. We show that all the symmetric quaternionic manifolds including the magic square can be succinctly classified by constrained instantons. These instantons are mostly semilocal, and their constructions for the magic square can be done from the corresponding Seiberg-Witten curves for certain N = 2 gauge theories that are in general not asymptotically free. Using these, we give possible constructions, such as the classical moduli space metrics, of constrained instantons with exceptional global symmetries. We also discuss the possibility of realising the Kahler manifolds in the magic square using other solitonic configurations in the theory, and point out an interesting new sequence of these manifolds in the magic square.
