Analytic structure of solutions to multiconfiguration equations
Abstract: We study the regularity at the positions of the (fixed) nuclei of solutions to (non-relativistic) multiconfiguration equations (including Hartree--Fock) of Coulomb systems. We prove the following: Let {phi_1,...,phi_M} be any solution to the rank--M multiconfiguration equations for a molecule with L fixed nuclei at R_1,...,R_L in R^3. Then, for any j in {1,...,M} and k in {1,...,L}, there exists… ▽ More

Analytic structure of many-body Coulombic wave functions
Abstract: We investigate the analytic structure of solutions of non-relativistic Schr"odinger equations describing Coulombic many-particle systems. We prove the following: Let psi(x) with x=(x_1,...,x_N) in R^{3N} denote an N-electron wavefunction of such a system with one nucleus fixed at the origin. Then in a neighbourhood of a coalescence point, for which x_1=0 and the other electron coordinates do not… ▽ More

Many Particle Hardy-Inequalities
Abstract: In this paper we prove three differenttypes of the so-called many-particle Hardy inequalities. One of them is a "classical type" which is valid in any dimesnion $d\neq 2$. The second type deals with two-dimensional magnetic Dirichlet forms where every particle is supplied with a soplenoid. Finally we show that Hardy inequalities for Fermions hold true in all dimensions.

Positivity and lower bounds to the decay of the atomic one-electron density
Abstract: We investigate properties of the spherically averaged atomic one-electron density rho~(r). For a rho~ which stems from a physical ground state we prove that rho~ > 0. We also give exponentially decreasing lower bounds to rho~ in the case when the eigenvalue is below the corresponding essential spectrum.

Third derivative of the one-electron density at the nucleus
Abstract: We study electron densities of eigenfunctions of atomic Schroedinger operators. We prove the existence of rho~'''(0), the third derivative of the spherically averaged atomic density rho~ at the nucleus. For eigenfunctions with corresponding eigenvalue below the essential spectrum we obtain the bound rho~'''(0) \leq -(7/12)Z^3 rho~(0), where Z denotes the nuclear charge. This bound is optimal.

Non-isotropic cusp conditions and regularity of the electron density of molecules at the nuclei
Abstract: We investigate regularity properties of molecular one-electron densities rho near the nuclei. In particular we derive a representation rho(x)=mu(x)*(e^F(x)) with an explicit function F, only depending on the nuclear charges and the positions of the nuclei, such that mu belongs to C^{1,1}(R^3), i.e., mu has locally essentially bounded second derivatives. An example constructed using Hydrogenic ei… ▽ More

Sharp regularity results for many-electron wave functions
Abstract: We show that electronic wave functions Psi of atoms and molecules have a representation Psi=F*phi, where F is an explicit universal factor, locally Lipschitz, and independent of the eigenvalue and the solution Psi itself, and phi has locally bounded second derivatives. This representation turns out to be optimal as can already be demonstrated with the help of hydrogenic wave functions. The proof… ▽ More

Electron Wavefunctions and Densities for Atoms
Abstract: With a special `Ansatz' we analyse the regularity properties of atomic electron wavefunctions and electron densities. In particular we prove an a priori estimate, $\sup_{y\in B(x,R)}|\nablaψ(y)| \leq C(R) \sup_{y\in B(x,2R)}|ψ(y)|$ and obtain for the spherically averaged electron density, $\widetildeρ(r)$, that $\widetildeρ''(0)$ exists and is non-negative.

Nodal sets for the groundstate of the Schroedinger operator with zero magnetic field in a non simply connected domain
Abstract: We investigate nodal sets of magnetic Schroedinger operators with zero magnetic field, acting on a non simply connected domain in $\r^2$. For the case of circulation 1/2 of the magnetic vector potential around each hole in the region, we obtain a charactisation of the nodal set, and use this to obtain bounds on the multiplicity of the groundstate. For the case of one hole and a fixed electric po… ▽ More
