A study of the optimization problem on the combination of sectionalizing switches in power grid with quantum annealing
Abstract: From the perspective of global warming, efficiency improvement of power grids is a pressing issue. Power grids have many switching devices to control the flow of electricity. Since there is a slight resistance in the wires and power consumption is proportional to the square of the current, the value of power loss on the wires changes depending on the combination of switch values that change the su… ▽ More

Towards a Unified Model of Neutrino-Nucleus Reactions for Neutrino Oscillation Experiments
Abstract: A precise description of neutrino-nucleus reactions will play a key role in addressing fundamental questions such as the leptonic CP violation and the neutrino mass hierarchy through analyzing data from next-generation neutrino oscillation experiments. First Monte Carlo analysis of fragmentation functions from single-inclusive $e^+ e^-$ annihilation
Abstract: We perform the first iterative Monte Carlo (IMC) analysis of fragmentation functions constrained by all available data from single-inclusive $e^+ e^-$ annihilation into pions and kaons. Impacts of B-factory measurements on determination of fragmentation functions from electron-positron annihilation data
Abstract: Fragmentation functions are determined for the pion and kaon by global analyses of charged-hadron production data in electron-positron annihilation. Clustering structure of nuclei in deep inelastic processes
Abstract: A clustering aspect is explained for the $^9$Be nucleus in charged-lepton deep inelastic scattering. Nuclear parton distribution functions and their effects on sin^2 theta_W anomaly
Abstract: Nuclear parton distribution functions (NPDFs) are investigated by analyzing the data on structure functions F_2^A and Drell-Yan cross sections sigma_{DY}^{pA}. An important point of this analysis is to show uncertainties of the NPDFs by the Hessian method. The analysis indicates that the uncertainties are large for antiquark distributions at x>0.2 and gluon distributions in the whole x region. W… ▽ More

Uncertainty of polarized gluon distribution from prompt photon production
Abstract: Constraint of prompt photon data on the polarized gluon distribution is discussed in terms of uncertainty estimation for polarized parton distribution functions (PDFs). By comparing between uncertainty of the double spin asymmetry A_{LL}^γand expected statistical errors at RHIC, we found that the gluon distribution is effectively constrained in the region 0.04<x_{_T}<0.2 with the data at transve… ▽ More

Nuclear parton distribution functions and their uncertainties
Abstract: We analyze experimental data of nuclear structure-function ratios F_2^A/F_2^{A'} and Drell-Yan cross section ratios for obtaining optimum parton distribution functions (PDFs) in nuclei. Then, uncertainties of the nuclear PDFs are estimated by the Hessian method. Valence-quark distributions are determined by the F_2 data at large x; however, the small-x part is not obvious from the data. On the o… ▽ More

Effect of polarized gluon distribution on spin asymmetries for neutral and charged pion production
Abstract: A longitudinal double spin asymmetry for π^0 production has been measured by the PHENIX collaboration. The asymmetry is sensitive to the polarized gluon distribution and is indicated to be positive by theoretical predictions. We study a correlation between behavior of the asymmetry and polarized gluon distribution in neutral and charged pion production at RHIC.

Determination of polarized parton distribution functions and their uncertainties
Abstract: We investigate the polarized parton distribution functions (PDFs) and their uncertainties by using the world data on the spin asymmetry A_1. The uncertainties of the polarized PDFs are estimated by the Hessian method. The up and down valence-quark distributions are determined well. However, the antiquark distributions have large uncertainties at this stage, and it is particularly difficult to fi… ▽ More

Recent status of polarized parton distributions
Abstract: We study an influence of precise data on uncertainty of polarized parton distribution functions. This analysis includes the SLAC-E155 proton target data which are precise measurements. Polarized PDF uncertainties are estimated by using the Hessian matrix. We examine correlation effect between the antiquark and gluon uncertainties. It suggests that reducing the gluon uncertainty is needed to dete… ▽ More

Parton distribution functions in nuclei
Abstract: Optimum nuclear parton distributions are determined by an analysis of muon and electron deep inelastic scattering data. Assuming simple A dependence and polynomial functions of x and 1-x for nuclear modification of parton distributions, we determine the initial distributions by a chi^2 analysis. Although valence-quark distributions are relatively well determined except for the small-x region, an… ▽ More

Parametrization of nuclear parton distributions
Abstract: Optimum nuclear parton distributions are obtained by analyzing available experimental data on electron and muon deep inelastic scattering (DIS). The distributions are given at Q^2=1 GeV^2 with a number of parameters, which are determined by a chi^2 analysis of the data. Valence-quark distributions are relatively well determined at medium x, but they are slightly dependent on the assumed parametr… ▽ More

Determination of polarized parton distribution functions
Abstract: We study parametrization of polarized parton distribution functions in the α_s leading order (LO) and in the next-to-leading order (NLO).
