Recently we showed that in FLRW cosmology, the contribution from higher curvature terms in any generic metric gravity theory to the energy-momentum tensor is of the perfect fluid form. Such a geometric perfect fluid can be interpreted as a fluid remaining from the beginning of the universe where the string theory is thought to be effective. Just a short time after the beginning of the Universe, it is known that the Einstein-Hilbert action is assumed to be modified by adding all possible curvature invariants. We propose that the observed late-time accelerating expansion of the Universe can be solely driven by this geometric fluid. To support our claim, we specifically study the quadratic gravity field equations in $D$-dimensions. We show that the field equations of this theory for the FLRW metric possess a geometric perfect fluid source containing two critical parameters $σ_1$ and $σ_2$. To analyze this theory concerning its parameter space $(σ_1, σ_2)$, we obtain the general second-order nonlinear differential equation governing the late-time dynamics of the deceleration parameter $q$. Hence using some present-day cosmological data as our initial conditions, our findings for the $σ_2=0$ case are as follows: $ (i)$ In order to have a positive energy density for the geometric fluid $ρ_g$, the parameter $σ_1$ must be negative for all dimensions up to $D = 11$, $(ii)$ For a suitable choice of $σ_1$, the deceleration parameter experiences signature changes in the past and future, and in the meantime it lies within a negative range which means that the current observed accelerated expansion phase of the Universe can be driven solely by the curvature of the spacetime, $(iii)$ $q$ experiences a signature change and as the dimension $D$ of spacetime increases, this signature change happens at earlier and later times, in the past and future, respectively.

In the realm of astrophysics, black holes exist within nonvacuum cosmological backgrounds, making it crucial to investigate how these backgrounds influence the properties of black holes. In this work, we first introduce a novel static spherically-symmetric exact solution of Einstein field equations representing a surrounded hairy black hole. This solution represents a generalization of the hairy Schwarzschild solution recently derived using the extended gravitational decoupling method. Then, we discuss how the new induced modification terms attributed to the primary hairs and various background fields affect the geodesic motion in comparison to the conventional Schwarzschild case. Although these modifications may appear insignificant in most cases, we identify specific conditions where they can be comparable to the Schwarzschild case for some particular background fields.

Wormhole configurations in Einstein's general theory of relativity (GR) require exotic matter sources violating the weak energy condition (WEC). Rastall's theory is a generalization of GR in its matter source considering a nonconserved energy-momentum (EM) tensor. Hence, on one hand, the nature of this generalization of the matter source of field equations and, on the other hand, the possibility of respecting energy conditions for dynamical wormholes in contrast to static ones motivates us to study the possibility of the existence of wormhole configurations respecting energy conditions or minimizing the violations of them in Rastall's modified theory. We derive general analytical solutions considering a constant redshift function and a particular equation of state for energy density and pressure profiles. We show that because of the modification in the EM source of the field equations, there exist solutions respecting the WEC in the vicinity of the wormhole's throat for specified values of the parameters. Some particular solutions are discussed in detail.

In order to get some insight into what happens when we extend the "universality theorem" to the case in which the electromagnetic field is present, as a first step, we study the KSK class of metrics in the context of Modified Horndeski theories with Maxwell's field. In the context of this scenario, the Universe originates from a nonsingular static state. In the present work, considering the realization of the emergent universe scenario, we address the possibility of having a nonsingular Kantowski-Sachs type static state. Considering four and five dimensional models (with and without brane), it is shown that both the existence and stability of a nonsingular state depend on the dimensions of the spacetime and the nature of the fluid supporting the geometry.

In this work, we study the issue of the past and future cosmological singularities in the context of the fourth-order conformal Weyl gravity. In particular, we investigate the emergent universe scenario proposed by Ellis {\it et al}, and find the stability conditions of the corresponding Einstein static state using the fixed point approach. We show that depending on the values of the parameters of the conformal Weyl gravity theory, there are possibilities for having initially stable emergent states for an FRW universe with both the positive and negative spatial curvatures. This represents that the conformal Weyl gravity can be free of the initial singularity problem. Then, following Barrow {\it et al}, we address the possible types of the finite-time future cosmological singularities. We discuss how these singularities also can be avoided in the context of this theory.

The cosmological candidate fields for dark energy as quintessence, phantom and cosmological constant, are studied in terms of an entropic hypothesis imposed on the McVittie solution surrounded by dark energy. We certify this hypothesis as "$D$-bound-Bekenstein bound identification" for dilute systems and use it as a criterion to determine which candidate of dark energy can satisfy this criterion for a dilute McVittie solution. It turns out that only the cosmological constant can pass this criterion successfully while the quintessence and phantom fields fail, as non-viable dark energy fields for this particular black hole solution. Moreover, assuming this black hole to possess the saturated entropy, the entropy-area law and the holographic principle can put two constraints on the radius $R$ of the cosmological horizon. The first one shows that the Hubble radius is discrete such that for any arbitrary value of the black hole mass $m_{0}$, the value of $R$ is determined up to an integer number. The latter one shows that when a black hole is immersed in a cosmological background, the radius of the cosmological horizon is constrained as $R<\frac{1}{H}$.

Accepting the mass function definition and by using the entropy contents of the solutions along with thermodynamic definitions of temperature and pressure, we study the validity of Euler equation on the corresponding horizons. Our results show that the thermodynamic pressure, meeting the Euler equation, is not always equal to the pressure components appeared in the gravitational field equations and satisfies the first law of thermodynamics, a result which in fact depends on the presumed energy definition. The requirements of having solutions with equal thermodynamic and Hawking temperatures are also studied. Additionally, we study the conformally flat BHs in the Rastall framework. The consequences of employing generalized Misner-Sharp mass in studying the validity of the Euler equation are also addressed.

We present two classes of inhomogeneous, spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell-Perfect Fluid field equations with cosmological constant generalizing the Vaidya-Shah solution. Some special limits of our solution reduce to the known inhomogeneous charged perfect fluid solutions of the Einstein field equations and under some other limits we obtain new charged and uncharged solutions with cosmological constant. Uncharged solutions in particular represent cosmological models where the universe may undergo a topology change and in between is a mixture of two different Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universes with different spatial curvatures. We show that there exist some spacelike surfaces where the Ricci scalar and pressure of the fluid diverge but the mass density of the fluid distribution remains finite. Such spacelike surfaces are known as (sudden) cosmological singularities. We study the behavior of our new solutions in their general form as the radial distance goes to zero and infinity. Finally, we briefly address the null geodesics and apparent horizons associated to the obtained solutions.

We show that this solution in the presence of perfect fluid and vacuum energy originating from conformally-invariant fields is stable. Using the fix point method and taking linear homogeneous perturbations, we find that the scale factor of Einstein static universe for closed deformed isotropic and homogeneous FLRW universe depends on the coupling parameter $λ$ between the energy-momentum tensor and the gradient of Ricci scalar. Thus, in the present model and in presence of vacuum energy, our universe can stay at the Einstein static state past-eternally, which means that the big bang singularity may be resolved successfully in the context of Einstein static universe in Rastall theory.

A generalized version for the Rastall theory is proposed showing the agreement with the cosmic accelerating expansion. In this regard, a coupling between geometry and the pressureless matter fields is derived which may play the role of dark energy responsible for the current accelerating expansion phase. Moreover, our study also shows that the radiation field may not be coupled to the geometry in a non-minimal way which represents that the ordinary energy-momentum conservation law is respected by the radiation source. It is also shown that the primary inflationary era may be justified by the ability of the geometry to couple to the energy-momentum source in an empty flat FRW universe. In fact, this ability is independent of the existence of the energy-momentum source and may compel the empty flat FRW universe to expand exponentially. Finally, we consider a flat FRW universe field by a spatially homogeneous scalar field evolving in potential $\mathcal{V}(φ)$, and study the results of applying the slow-roll approximation to the system which may lead to an inflationary phase for the universe expansion.

It is shown that the corresponding effective perfect fluid has interesting characteristic features depending on the different ranges of the parameters in Rastall theory. We study the Padmanabhan's emergent Universe in the context of Bousso's covariant entropy conjecture. We find that for a flat Universe, this conjecture can be applied for the system of Padmanabhan's emergent Universe. It turns out that the maximum "bulk entropy" of Padmanabhan's emergent Universe coincides with the upper bound of Bousso's covariant entropy on the null surface defined by Hubble horizon, provided that the Universe is just filled by the cosmological constant or radiation field which represent maximal entropy during inflation and subsequent radiation dominant era. This maximal entropy is lost by the appearance of matter system in the Universe at matter dominant era. Applying D-bound on the matter system in the Padmanabhan's emergent Universe, we find that the apparent cosmological horizon of a flat Universe in matter dominant era has less area and entropy than those (maximal) of apparent cosmological horizon of an empty de-Sitter space, in complete agreement with our conclusion. The maximal area and entropy in the Padmanabhan's emergent Universe are recovered "as soon as possible" by transition from matter dominant to cosmological constant eras, provided that the matter inside the Universe is moved completely outward the apparent cosmological horizon in "an accelerating way" at late times.

Based on the Padmanabhan's proposal, the accelerated expansion of the universe can be driven by the difference between the surface and bulk degrees of freedom in a region of space, described by the relation $dV/dt=N_{sur}-N_{bulk}$ where $N_{sur}$ and $N_{bulk}=-N_{em}+N_{de}$ are the degrees of freedom assigned to the surface area and the matter-energy content inside the bulk such that the indexes $"em"$ and $"de"$ represent energy-momentum and dark energy, respectively. In the present work, the dynamical effect of the Weyssenhoff perfect fluid with intrinsic spin and its corresponding spin degrees of freedom in the framework of Einstein-Cartan (EC) theory are investigated. Based on the modification of Friedmann equations due to the spin-spin interactions, a correction term for the Padmanabhan's original relation $dV/dt=N_{sur}+N_{em}-N_{de}$ including the number of degrees of freedom related to this spin interactions is obtained through the modification in $N_{bulk}$ term as $N_{bulk}=-N_{em}+N_{spin}+N_{de}$ leading to $dV /d t=N_{sur}+N_{em}-N_{spin} -N_{de}$ in which $N_{spin}$ is the corresponding degrees of freedom related to the intrinsic spin of the matter content of the universe. Moreover, the validity of the unified first law and the generalized second law of thermodynamics for the Einstein-Cartan cosmos are investigated. Finally, by considering the covariant entropy conjecture and the bound resulting from the emergent scenario, a total entropy bound is obtained. Using this bound, it is shown that the for the universe as an expanding thermodynamical system, the total effective Komar energy never exceeds the square of the expansion rate with a factor of $\frac{3}{4π}$.

We investigate the Einstein static universe (ESU) and the emergent universe scenario in the framework of Hořava-Lifshitz-like $F(R)$ gravity. We first perform a dynamical analysis in the phase space, and amongst others we show that a spatially open universe filled with matter satisfying the strong energy condition can exhibit a stable static phase. Additionally, we examine the behavior of the scenario under scalar perturbations and extract the conditions under which it is free of perturbative instabilities, showing that the obtained background ESU solutions are free of such instabilities. However, in order for the Einstein static universe to give rise to the emergent universe scenario we need to have an exotic matter sector that can lead the universe to depart from the stable static state and enter into its usual expanding thermal history.

According to Padmanabhan's proposal, the difference between the surface degrees of freedom and the bulk degrees of freedom in a region of space may result in the acceleration of Universe expansion through the relation $ΔV/Δt = N_{\rm sur}-N_{\rm bulk}$ where $N_{\rm bulk}$ and $N_{\rm sur}$ are referred to the degrees of freedom related to the matter and energy content inside the bulk and surface area, respectively \cite{Pad1}. In this paper, we study the dynamical effect of the extrinsic geometrical embedding of an arbitrary four dimensional brane in a higher dimensional bulk space and investigate the corresponding degrees of freedom. Considering the modification of Friedmann equations arising from a general braneworld scenario, we obtain a correction term in Padmanabhan's relation, denoting the number of degrees of freedom related to the extrinsic geometry of the brane embedded in higher dimensional spacetime as $ΔV /Δt=N_{\rm sur}-N_{\rm bulk}-N_{\rm extr}$ where $N_{\rm extr}$ is referred to the degree of freedom related to the extrinsic geometry of the brane while $N_{\rm sur}$ and $N_{\rm bulk}$ are as well as before. Finally, we study the validity of the first and second laws of thermodynamics for this general braneworld scenario in the state of thermal equilibrium and in the presence of confined matter fields to the brane with the induced geometric matter fields.

By presenting a relation between average energy of the ensemble of probe photons and energy density of the Universe, in the context of {\it gravity's rainbow} or {\it doubly general relativity} scenario, we introduce a rainbow FRW Universe model. By analyzing the fixed points in flat FRW model modified by two well known rainbow functions, we find that the finite time singularity avoidance (i.e. Big-Bang) may still remain as a problem. Then, we follow the "Emergent Universe" scenario in which there is no beginning of time and consequently there is no Big-Bang singularity. Moreover, we study the impact of a high energy quantum gravity modifications related to the gravity's rainbow on the stability conditions of an "Einstein static Universe" (ESU). We find that independent of a particular rainbow function, the positive energy condition dictates a positive spatial curvature for the Universe. In fact, without raising a nonphysical energy condition in the quantum gravity regimes, we can address an agreement between gravity's rainbow scenario and basic assumption of modern version of "Emergent Universe". We show that in the absence and presence of an energy-dependent cosmological constant $Λ(ε)$, a stable Einstein static solution is available versus the homogeneous and linear scalar perturbations under the variety of obtained conditions. Also, we explore the stability of ESU against the vector and tensor perturbations.

Stability of the Einstein static universe versus the linear scalar, vector and tensor perturbations is investigated in the context of deformed Hořava-Lifshitz cosmology inspired by entropic force scenario. A general stability condition against the linear scalar perturbations is obtained. Using this general condition, it is shown that there is no stable Einstein static universe for the case of flat universe, $k=0$. For the the special case of large values of running parameter of HL gravity $ω$, in a positively curved universe $k>0$, the domination of the quintessence and phantom matter fields with barotropic equation of state parameter $β<-\frac{1}{3}$ is necessary while for a negatively curved universe $k<0$, the matter fields with $β> -\frac{1}{3}$ are needed to be the dominant fields of the universe. Also, a neutral stability against the vector perturbations is obtained. Finally, an inequality including the cosmological parameters of the Einstein static universe is obtained for the stability against the tensor perturbations. It turns out that for large $ω$ values, there is a stability against the tensor perturbations.

We investigate stability of the Einstein static universe against the scalar, vector and tensor perturbations in the context of induced matter brane gravity. It is shown that in the framework of this model, the Einstein static universe has a positive spatial curvature. In contrast to the classical general relativity, it is found that a stable Einstein static universe against the scalar perturbations does exist provided that the variation of time dependent geometrical equation of state parameter is proportional to the minus of the variation of the scale factor, $δω_{g}(t)=-Cδa(t)$. We obtain neutral stability against the vector perturbations, and the stability against the tensor perturbations is guaranteed due to the positivity of the spatial curvature of the Einstein static universe in induced matter brane gravity.

There are a number of reasons to study wormholes with generic cosmological constant $Λ$. Recent observations indicate that present accelerating expansion of the universe demands $Λ>0$. On the other hand, some extended theories of gravitation such as supergravity and superstring theories posses vacuum states with $Λ<0$. Even within the framework of general relativity, a negative cosmological constant permits black holes with horizons topologically different from the usual spherical ones. These solutions are convertible to wormhole solutions by adding some exotic matter. In this paper, the asymptotically flat wormhole solutions in a generic cosmological constant background are studied. By constructing a specific class of shape functions, mass function, energy density and pressure profiles which support such a geometry are obtained. It is shown that for having such a geometry, the wormhole throat $r_0$, the cosmological constant $Λ$ and the equation of state parameter $ω$ should satisfy two specific conditions. The possibility of setting different values for the parameters of the model helps us to find exact solutions for the metric functions, mass functions and energy-momentum profiles. At last, the volume integral quantifier, which provides useful information about the total amount of energy condition violating matter is discussed briefly.

The results are discussed for the case of closed, open or flat universe in each era under the obtained restricting conditions.
