Constant cycle subvarieties in the Mukai system of rank two and genus two
Abstract: Combining theorems of Voisin and Marian, Shen, Yin and Zhao, we compute the dimensions of the orbits under rational equivalence in the Mukai system of rank two and genus two. We produce several examples of algebraically coisotropic and constant cycle subvarieties.

Birational geometry of the Mukai system of rank two and genus two
Abstract: Using the techniques of Bayer--Macrì, we determine the walls in the movable cone of the Mukai system of rank two for a general K3 surface $S$ of genus two. We study the (essentially unique) birational map to $S^{[5]}$ and decompose it into a sequence of flops. We give an interpretation of the exceptional loci in terms of Brill--Noether loci.

The nilpotent cone in the Mukai system for rank 2 and genus 2
Abstract: We study the nilpotent cone in the Mukai system for rank two and genus two. We compute the degrees and multiplicities of its irreducible components and describe their cohomology classes.

SWEEPFINDER2: Increased sensitivity, robustness, and flexibility
Abstract: SweepFinder is a popular program that implements a powerful likelihood-based method for detecting recent positive selection, or selective sweeps. Here, we present SweepFinder2, an extension of SweepFinder with increased sensitivity and robustness to the confounding effects of mutation rate variation and background selection, as well as increased flexibility that enables the user to examine genomic… ▽ More

Local antiferromagnetic correlations in the iron pnictide superconductors LaFeAsO{1-x}F{x} and Ca(Fe,Co)2As2 as seen via normal-state susceptibility
Abstract: We have studied the interplay of magnetism and superconductivity in LaFeAsO$_{1-x}$F$_x$ and Ca(Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$)$_2$As$_2$. While antiferromagnetic spin density wave formation is suppressed and superconductivity evolves, all samples show a do** independent strong increase of the normal state susceptibility upon heating which appears a general feature of iron pnictides. The data provide eviden… ▽ More

Upper critical field, penetration depth, and depinning frequency of the novel high-temperature superconductor LaFeAsO$_{0.9}$F$_{0.1}$ studied by microwave surface impedance
Abstract: Temperature and magnetic field dependent measurements of the microwave surface impedance of superconducting LaFeAsO$_{0.9}$F$_{0.1}$ (\Tc $\approx$ 26K) reveal a very large upper critical field ($B_{\rm c2} \approx 56$T) and a large value of the depinning frequency ($f_{0}\approx 6$GHz); together with an upper limit for the effective London penetration depth, $λ_{\rm eff} \le 200 \rm nm$, our re… ▽ More

Field and Temperature Dependence of the Superfluid Density in LaO_{1-x}F_xFeAs Superconductors: A Muon Spin Relaxation Study
Abstract: We present zero field and transverse field \muSR experiments on the recently discovered electron doped Fe-based superconductor LaO_{1-x}F_xFeAs. The zero field experiments on underdoped (x=0.075) and optimally doped (x=0.1) samples rule out any static magnetic order above 1.6 K in these superconducting samples. From transverse field experiments in the vortex phase we deduce the temperature and f… ▽ More

Magnetization of undoped 2-leg S = 1/2 spin ladders in La4Sr10Cu24O41
Abstract: Magnetization data of single crystalline La4Sr10Cu24O41 are presented. In this compound, doped spin chains and undoped spin ladders are realized. The magnetization, at low temperatures, is governed by the chain subsystem with a finite interchain coupling which leads to short range antiferromagnetic spin correlations. At higher temperatures, the response of the chains can be estimated in terms of… ▽ More

Magnetic properties of vanadium-oxide nanotubes probed by static magnetization and {51}V NMR
Abstract: Measurements of the static magnetic susceptibility and of the nuclear magnetic resonance of multiwalled vanadium-oxide nanotubes are reported. In this nanoscale magnet the structural low-dimensionality and mixed valency of vanadium ions yield a complex temperature dependence of the static magnetization and the nuclear relaxation rates. Analysis of the different contributions to the magnetism all… ▽ More
