Avoided Quantum Criticality near Optimally Doped High Temperature Superconductors
Abstract: We study the crossover from the underdoped to the overdoped regime in the t-J model. The underdoped regime is dominated by the superexchange interaction, locking the spins into singlets which weakly perturbe coherent charge carriers. In the overdoped, large carrier concentration regime, the Kondo effect dominates resulting in spin-charge composite quasiparticles which are also coherent. Separatin… ▽ More

Optical Conductivity of the t-J model within Cluster Dynamical Mean Field Theory
Abstract: We study the evolution of the optical conductivity in the t-J model with temperature and do** using the Extended Dynamical Cluster Approximation. The cluster approach results in an optical mass which is do** independent near half filling. The transition to the superconducting state in the overdoped regime is characterized by a decrease in the hole kinetic energy, in contrast to the underdope… ▽ More

Electronic Structure Calculations with Dynamical Mean-Field Theory: A Spectral Density Functional Approach
Abstract: We present a review of the basic ideas and techniques of the spectral density functional theory which are currently used in electronic structure calculations of strongly-correlated materials where the one-electron description breaks down. We illustrate the method with several examples where interactions play a dominant role: systems near metal-insulator transition, systems near volume collapse t… ▽ More

Many-Body Electronic Structure of Americium metal
Abstract: We report computer based simulations of energetics, spectroscopy and electron-phonon interaction of americium using a novel spectral density functional method. This approach gives rise to a new concept of a many-body electronic structure and reveals the unexpected mixed valence regime of Am 5f6 electrons which under pressure acquire the 5f7 valence state. This explains unique properties of Am an… ▽ More

Strong Coupling Solver for the Quantum Impurity Model
Abstract: We propose a fast impurity solver for the general quantum impurity model based on the perturbation theory around the atomic limit, which can be used in combination with the local density approximation (LDA) and the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT). We benchmark the solver in the two band Hubbard model within DMFT against quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) and numerical renormalization group (NRG) resul… ▽ More

Interpolative Approach for Solving the Anderson Impurity Model
Abstract: A rational representation for the self--energy is explored to interpolate the solution of the Anderson impurity model in general orbitally degenerate case. Several constrains such as the Friedel's sum rule, positions of the Hubbard bands as well as the value of quasiparticle residue are used to establish the equations for the coefficients of the interpolation. We employ two fast techniques, the… ▽ More

Towards realistic electronic structure calculations of strongly correlated electron systems
Abstract: We review some aspects of the realistic implementation of the dynamical mean-field method. We extend the techniques introduced in Ref.[A. Georges, G. Kotliar, W. Krauth, and M.J. Rozenberg, Rev. Mod. Phys. 68, 13 (1996)] to include the calculations of transport coefficients. The approach is illustrated on La_{1-x}Sr_xTiO_3 material undergoing a density driven Mott transition.

The alpha to gamma transition in Ce: a theoretical view from optical spectroscopy
Abstract: Using a novel approach to calculate optical properties of strongly correlated systems, we address the old question of the physical origin of the alpha to gamma transition in Ce. We find that the Kondo collapse model describes the optical data better than the Mott transition picture. Our results compare well with existing thin--film experiments. We predict the full temperature dependence of the o… ▽ More

Dynamical correlations in multiorbital Hubbard models: Fluctuation-exchange approximations
Abstract: We study the two band degenerate Hubbard model using the Fluctuation Exchange approximation (FLEX) method and compare the results with Quantum Monte-Carlo calculations. Both the self-consistent and the non-self-consistent versions of the FLEX scheme are investigated. We find that, contrary to the one band case, in the multiband case, good agreement with the Quantum Monte-Carlo results is obtaine… ▽ More

Pseudogaps in an Incoherent Metal
Abstract: How are the properties of a metal changed by strong inelastic scattering? We investigate this question within the two-dimensional t-J model using extended dynamical mean field theory and a generalized non-crossing approximation. Anderson impurity model at finite Coulomb interaction U: generalized Non-crossing Approximation
Abstract: We present an extension of the non-crossing approximation (NCA), which is widely used to calculate properties of Anderson impurity models in the limit of infinite Coulomb repulsion $U\to\infty$, to the case of finite $U$. A self-consistent conserving pseudo-particle representation is derived by symmetrizing the usual NCA diagrams with respect to empty and doubly occupied local states. This requi… ▽ More

Diagrammatic theory of the Anderson impurity model with finite Coulomb interaction
Abstract: We have developed a self-consistent conserving pseudo particle approximation for the Anderson impurity model with finite Coulomb interaction, derivable from a Luttinger Ward functional. It contains an infinite series of skeleton diagrams built out of fully renormalized Green's functions. The choice of diagrams is motivated by the Schrieffer Wolff transformation which shows that singly and doubly… ▽ More

Finite temperature properties of the 2D Kondo lattice model
Abstract: Using recently developed Lanczos technique we study finite-temperature properties of the 2D Kondo lattice model at various fillings of the conduction band. In the intermediate coupling regime quasiparticle gap scales approximately linearly with Kondo co… ▽ More
