A practical statistical analysis on the regional populations and GDPs of China is conducted. The result shows that the distribution of the populations and that of the GDPs obeys the shifted power law, respectively. To understand these characteristics, a generalized Langevin equation describing variation of population is proposed based on the correlation between population and GDP as well as the random fluctuations of the related factors. The equation is transformed into the Fokker-Plank equation, and the solution demonstrates a transform of population distribution from the normal Gaussian distribution to a shifted power law. It also suggests a critical point of time at which the transform occurs. The shifted power law distribution in the supercritical situation is qualitatively in accordance with the practical result. The distribution of the GDPs is derived based on the Cobb-Douglas production function, and presents a change from a shifted power law to the Gaussian distribution. This result indicates that the regional GDP distribution of our society will be the Gaussian distribution in the future. The analysis on the growth trend of economy suggests it will become a reality. These theoretical attempts may draw a historical picture of our world in the aspects of population and economy.

Up to now, almost all results about fault-tolerance in $BH_n$ with only faulty vertices or only faulty edges. In this paper, we consider fault-tolerant cycle embedding of $BH_n$ with both faulty vertices and faulty edges, and prove that there exists a fault-free cycle of length $2^{2n}-2|F_v|$ in $BH_n$ with $|F_v|+|F_e|\leq 2n-2$ and $|F_v|\leq n-1$ for $n\geq 2$. Since $BH_n$ is a bipartite graph with two partite sets of equal size, the cycle of a length $2^{2n}-2|F_v|$ is the longest in the worst-case.

Spin pum** in Yttrium-iron-garnet (YIG)/nonmagnetic-metal (NM) layer systems under ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) conditions is a popular method of generating spin current in the NM layer. A good understanding of the spin current source is essential in extracting spin Hall angle of the NM and in potential spintronics applications. It is widely believed that spin current is pumped from precessing YIG magnetization into NM layer. Here, by combining microwave absorption and DC-voltage measurements on YIG/Pt and YIG/NM1/NM2 (NM1=Cu or Al, NM2=Pt or Ta), we unambiguously showed that spin current in NM came from the magnetized NM surface (in contact with YIG) due to the magnetic proximity effect (MPE), rather than the precessing YIG magnetization. This conclusion is reached through our unique detecting method where the FMR microwave absorption of the magnetized NM surface, hardly observed in the conventional FMR experiments, was greatly amplified when the electrical detection circuit was switched on.

A physical description of an opinion evolution is conducted based on the Hamilton-Jacobi equation derived from a generalized potential and the corresponding Langevin equation. The investigation mainly focuses on the heterogeneities such as age, connection circle and overall quality of the participants involved in the opinion exchange process. The evolutionary patterns of opinion can be described by solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation, information entropy. The results show that the overall qualities of the participants play critical roles in forming an opinion. The higher the overall quality is, the easier the consensus can reach. The solution also demonstrates that the age and the connection circle of the agents play equally important roles in forming an opinion. The essence of the age, overall quality, and connection circle corresponds to the maturity of thought (opinion inertia), reason and intelligence, influence strength of the environment, respectively. So the information entropy distributes in the phase planes (two variable combinations out of the three---age, connection circle and overall quality) exhibit the evolution rules of an opinion.

Opinion evolution mechanism can be captured by physics modeling approaches. In this context, a kinetic equation is established by defining a generalized displace (cognitive-level), a driving force and the related generalized potential, information quantity, altitude. It has been shown that the details of opinion evolution depends the type of the driving force, self-dominated driving or environment- dominated driving. In the former case, the participants can have their altitudes changed in the process of competition between the self-driving force and environment-driving force. In the latter case, all of the participants are pulled by the environment. Some regularity behind the dynamics of opinion is also revealed, for instance, the information entropy decays with time in a special way, etc. the results may help us to get some deep understandings to formation of a public opinion.

The energy-momentum dispersion relation is a fundamental property of plasmonic systems. In this paper, we show that the method of dispersion engineering can be used for the design of ultra-compact graphene-based superscatterers. Based on the Bohr model, the dispersion relation of the equivalent planar waveguide is engineered to enhance the scattering cross section of a dielectric cylinder. Bohr conditions with different orders are fulfilled in multiple dispersion curves at the same resonant frequency. Thus the resonance peaks from the first and second order scattering terms are overlapped in the deepsubwavelength scale by delicately tuning the gap thickness between two graphene layers. Using this ultra-compact graphene-based superscatterer, the scattering cross section of the dielectric cylinder can be enhanced by five orders of magnitude.

An invisibility cloak that can hide an arbitrary object external to the cloak itself has not been devised before. In this Letter, we introduce a novel way to design a remote cloaking device that makes any object located at a certain distance invisible. This is accomplished using multi-folded transformation optics to remotely generate a hidden region around the object that no field can penetrate and that does not disturb the far-field scattering electromagnetic field. As a result, any object in the hidden region can stay in position or move freely within that region and remain invisible. Our idea is further extended in order to design a remote illusion optics that can transform any arbitrary object into another one. Unlike other cloaking methods, this method would require no knowledge of the details of the object itself. The proposed multi-folded transformation optics will be crucial in the design of remote devices in a variety of contexts.

The conditional diagnosability and the 2-extra connectivity are two important parameters to measure ability of diagnosing faulty processors and fault-tolerance in a multiprocessor system. The conditional diagnosability $t_c(G)$ of $G$ is the maximum number $t$ for which $G$ is conditionally $t$-diagnosable under the comparison model, while the 2-extra connectivity $κ_2(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the minimum number $k$ for which there is a vertex-cut $F$ with $|F|=k$ such that every component of $G-F$ has at least $3$ vertices. A quite natural problem is what is the relationship between the maximum and the minimum problem? This paper partially answer this problem by proving $t_c(G)=κ_2(G)$ for a regular graph $G$ with some acceptable conditions. As applications, the conditional diagnosability and the 2-extra connectivity are determined for some well-known classes of vertex-transitive graphs, including, star graphs, $(n,k)$-star graphs, alternating group networks, $(n,k)$-arrangement graphs, alternating group graphs, Cayley graphs obtained from transposition generating trees, bubble-sort graphs, $k$-ary $n$-cube networks and dual-cubes. Furthermore, many known results about these networks are obtained directly.

The effective gain and obtained energy resolution is 5.0$\times$10$^{4}$ and around of 19.2\%, respectively. And secondly, the novel multi-layered HDPE converter is coupled with the cathode of the triple GEM detector make it a high-effective fast neutron detector. Higher-order low-rank tensors naturally arise in many applications including hyperspectral data recovery, video inpainting, seismic data recon- struction, and so on. We propose a new model to recover a low-rank tensor by simultaneously performing low-rank matrix factorizations to the all-mode ma- tricizations of the underlying tensor. An alternating minimization algorithm is applied to solve the model, along with two adaptive rank-adjusting strategies when the exact rank is not known.
Phase transition plots reveal that our algorithm can recover a variety of synthetic low-rank tensors from significantly fewer samples than the compared methods, which include a matrix completion method applied to tensor recovery and two state-of-the-art tensor completion methods. Further tests on real- world data show similar advantages. Although our model is non-convex, our algorithm performs consistently throughout the tests and give better results than the compared methods, some of which are based on convex models. In addition, the global convergence of our algorithm can be established in the sense that the gradient of Lagrangian function converges to zero.

Recently, Haglund and Visontai established the stability of the multivariate Eulerian polynomials as the generating polynomials of the Stirling permutations, which serves as a unification of some results of Bóna, Brenti, Janson, Kuba, and Panholzer concerning Stirling permutations. Let $B_n(x)$ be the generating polynomials of the descent statistic over Legendre-Stirling permutations, and let $T_n(x)=2^nC_n(x/2)$, where $C_n(x)$ are the second-order Eulerian polynomials. Haglund and Visontai proposed the problems of finding multivariate stable refinements of the polynomials $B_n(x)$ and $T_n(x)$. We obtain context-free grammars leading to multivariate stable refinements of the polynomials $B_n(x)$ and $T_n(x)$. Moreover, the grammars enable us to obtain combinatorial interpretations of the multivariate polynomials in terms of Legendre-Stirling permutations and marked Stirling permutations. Such stable multivariate polynomials provide solutions to two problems posed by Haglund and Visontai.

For WLANs the IEEE 802.11 standard is the most mature technology and has been widely adopted for wireless networks. This paper analyzes real-time performance of the IEEE 802.11 standard that adopts the MAC protocol of Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) operating in infrastructure mode. Extensive simulations have been done to examine how the network performance in terms of realtime metrics including effective data rate, latency and packet loss rate will be impacted by some critical parameters (e.g. CWmin and packet payload).
