The tree-level Lagrangian in this model is assumed to conserve the CP symmetry. We find that CP violation is viable in this model at the one-loop level, in an explicit way, if the radiative corrections from the third generation of quarks and squarks are taken into account. In the presence of explicit CP violation, at the one-loop level, the upper bound on the mass of the lightest neutral Higgs boson and the productions of the neutral Higgs bosons via the Higgsstrahlung process in high-energy $e^+e^-$ collisions are calculated. We find that the upper bound on the mass of the lightest neutral Higgs boson increases as the number of Higgs singlets increases in a regulated manner. The production cross sections of the neutral Higgs bosons also show a reasonable increasing behavior with respect to the number of Higgs singlets.

We investigate the neutral Higgs sector in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) with explicit CP violation at the one-loop level by using the effective potential method. In general, explicit CP violation is possible at the tree-level in the Higgs potential of the NMSSM, which may possess a complex phase. The tree-level Higgs potential can be made CP conserving by assuming that all the relevant parameters are real. However, the CP-conserving Higgs potential at the tree level may still develop complex phases at the one-loop level through radiative corrections. These complex phases exhibit explicit CP violation through the mixings between the scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs bosons. One of the complex phases arise in the neutralino sector. For a particular choice of the relevant parameter values, the scalar-pseudoscalar mixings are found to strongly dependent on this phase. Meanwhile, for a wide region in the parameter space, the ratios of CP mixing elements of the neutral Higgs boson mass matrix to CP non-mixing ones increase weakly against this phase. Also, the neutral Higgs boson masses are roughly stable against the variation of this phase.

The preparation of an entangled coherent state via a cross-phase modulation effect is demonstrated. We briefly show that the violation of locality for such an entangled coherent state is robust against low detection efficiency. Finally, we investigate the possibility of a bi-chromatic photon blockade realized via the interaction of a low density beam of atoms with a bi-modal electromagnetic cavity which is externally driven. We show the effectiveness of the blockade effect even when more than a single atom is inside the cavity. The possibility to control two different cavity modes allows some insights into the generation of an entangled state of cavity modes.

The generation of an entangled coherent state is one of the most important ingredients of quantum information processing using coherent states. Recently, numerous schemes to achieve this task have been proposed. In order to generate travelling-wave entangled coherent states, cross phase modulation, optimized by optical Kerr effect enhancement in a dense medium in an electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) regime, seems to be very promising. In this scenario, we propose a fully quantized model of a double-EIT scheme recently proposed [D. Petrosyan and G. Kurizki, {\sl Phys. Rev. A} {\bf 65}, 33833 (2002)]: the quantization step is performed adopting a fully Hamiltonian approach. This allows us to write effective equations of motion for two interacting quantum fields of light that show how the dynamics of one field depends on the photon-number operator of the other. The preparation of a Schrödinger cat state, which is a superposition of two distinct coherent states, is briefly exposed. This is based on non-linear interaction via double-EIT of two light fields (initially prepared in coherent states) and on a detection step performed using a $50:50$ beam splitter and two photodetectors. In order to show the entanglement of a generated entangled coherent state, we suggest to measure the joint quadrature variance of the field. We show that the entangled coherent states satisfy the sufficient condition for entanglement based on quadrature variance measurement. We also show how robust our scheme is against a low detection efficiency of homodyne detectors.

Our calculation is an improvement in the sense that both the terms which are quartic in the electroweak coupling constants into account, and the pseudoscalar Higgs loop contribution are explicitly included.

The phenomenology of the explicit CP violation in the Higgs sector of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) is investigated, with emphasis on the charged Higgs boson. The radiative corrections due to both quarks and scalar-quarks of the third generation are taken into account, and the negative result of the search for the Higgs bosons at CERN LEP2, with the discovery limit of 0.1 pb, is imposed as a constraint. It is found that there are parameter regions of the NMSSM where the lightest neutral Higgs boson may even be massless, without being detected at LEP2. This implies that the LEP2 data do not contradict the existence of a massless neutral Higgs boson in the NMSSM. For the charged Higgs boson, the radiative corrections to its mass may be negative in some parameter regions of the NMSSM. The phenomenological lower bound on the radiatively corrected mass of the charged Higgs boson is increased as the CP violation becomes maximal, i.e., as the CP violating phase becomes $π/2$. At the maximal CP violation, its lower bound is about 110 GeV for 5 $\leqslant \tan β\leqslant$ 40. The vacuum expectation value (VEV) of the neutral Higgs singlet is shown to be no smaller than 16 GeV for any parameter values of the NMSSM with explicit CP violation. This value of the lower limit is found to increase up to about 45 GeV as the ratio ($\tan β$) of the VEVs of the two Higgs doublets decreases to smaller values ($\sim$ 2). The discovery limit of the Higgs boson search at LEP2 is found to cover about a half of the kinematically allowed part of the whole parameter space of the NMSSM, and the portion is roughly stable against the CP violating phase.

The spontaneous violation of the CP symmetry in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard Model (NMSSM) is investigated. It is found that the spontaneous violation of the CP symmetry can occur in the Higgs sector of the NMSSM for a wide region of the parameter space of the model, at the 1-loop level where the radiative corrections due to the top quark and scalar-top quark loops are found to generate the scalar-pseudoscalar mixings between the two Higgs doublets of the NMSSM. In our model, we assume that the masses of the left-handed and the right-handed scalar-top quarks are not degenerate. And we investigate our model anaytically: We derive analytical formulae of the 1-loop mass matrix for the neutral Higgs bosons. We calculate the upper bound on the lightest neutral Higgs boson mass under the assumption. It is found to be about 140 GeV for our choice of parameter values in the presence of the spontaneous violation of the CP symmetry in the NMSSM. Thus, the possibility of the spontaneous violation of the CP symmetry is not completely ruled out in the Higgs sector of the NMSSM if the masses of the left-handed and the right-handed scalar-top quarks are not degenerate. Further, the phenomenology of the $K$-${\bar K}$ mixing within the context of our model is studied. The lower bound on CP violating phase in the $K$-${\bar K}$ mixing is found to increase if either $\tanβ$ decreases or $A_t$ increases.

Furthermore the tree level parameter space of the model can be completely explored by the Higgs search at LEP 2 with $\sqrt{s}$ = 205 GeV. Radiative corrections both to the neutral Higgs boson masses and to the relevant couplings for the scalar Higgs productions give large contributions to the production cross sections of the scalar Higgs bosons at the tree level. The tree level situation at LEP 2 with $\sqrt{s}$ = 192 GeV as well as with $\sqrt{s}$ = 205 GeV can be drastically changed by these effects. We expect that a small region of the 1-loop level parameter space of the model via the scalar Higgs production can be explored by the Higgs search at LEP 2.

Therefore our formula for the scalar Higgs boson mass matrix at the 1-loop level includes the contribution of the gauge sector as well as the effect of the top scalar quark mass splitting. Thus we calculate the upper bound on the lightest scalar Higgs boson mass using our formula.
