UltraCortex: Submillimeter Ultra-High Field 9.4 T1 Brain MR Image Collection and Manual Cortical Segmentations
Abstract: The UltraCortex repository (https://www.ultracortex.org) houses magnetic resonance imaging data of the human brain obtained at an ultra-high field strength of 9.4 T. It contains 86 structural MR images with spatial resolutions ranging from 0.6 to 0.8 mm. Additionally, the repository includes segmentations of 12 brains into gray and white matter compartments. These segmentations have been independe… ▽ More

Prediction of motion induced magnetic fields for human brain MRI at 3T
Abstract: Objective Maps of B0 field inhomogeneities are often used to improve MRI image quality, even in a retrospective fashion. These field inhomogeneities depend on the exact head position within the static field but acquiring field maps (FM) at every position is time consuming. Here we explore different ways to obtain B0 predictions at different head positions. Methods FM were predicted from iterative… ▽ More

Degree to which CVC is Established Through Beta Decay Alone
Abstract: Precision studies of $0^{+} \rightarrow 0^{+}$ superallowed $β$ decays provide the necessary data to test stringently the CVC hypothesis. They will also provide a value for the weak vector coupling constant and the $V_{ud}$ quark mixing element of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix. The determination of this element is crucial for the test of the unitarity of the CKM matrix, and the sear… ▽ More

Source size scaling of fragment production in projectile breakup
Abstract: Fragment production has been studied as a function of the source mass and excitation energy in peripheral collisions of $^{35}$Cl+$^{197}$Au at 43 MeV/nucleon and $^{70}$Ge+$^{nat}$Ti at 35 MeV/nucleon. The results are compared to the Au+Au data at 600 MeV/nucleon obtained by the ALADIN collaboration. A mass scaling, by $A_{source} \sim$ 35 to 190, strongly correlated to excitation energy per nu… ▽ More

Calibration of Plastic Phoswich Detectors for Charged Particle Detection
Abstract: The response of an array of plastic phoswich detectors to ions of $1\le Z\le 18$ has been measured from $E/A$=12 to 72 MeV. The detector response has been parameterized by a three parameter fit which includes both quenching and high energy delta-ray effects. The fits have a mean variation of $\le 4\%$ with respect to the data.

Superallowed Fermi Beta Decay -- a Status Report
Abstract: Data on superallowed Fermi beta decay in nuclei are compiled and electromagnetic corrections discussed. Recommended values for the weak vector coupling constant and the leading element of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa mixing matrix are given. Comments on neutron decay and limits extracted on extensions to the Standard Model are made.

Recent Chalk River Experiments on Superallowed $0^{+} \to 0^{+}$ Beta Decays
Abstract: Two experiments, (1) a measurement of the superallowed $0^{+} \rightarrow 0^{+}$ branching ratio in $^{10}$C, and (2) a measurement of (or limit on) non-analogue $0^{+} \rightarrow 0^{+}$ branches in $^{38m}$K, $^{46}$V, $^{50}$Mn and $^{54}$Co, are described. The implications these experiments have on the test of the conservation of the weak vector current (CVC) and the unitarity of the Cabibbo… ▽ More

Signatures of Statistical Decay
Abstract: The partition of decay energy between the kinetic energy of reaction products and their Q-value of formation is obtained in a statistical derivation appropriate to highly excited nuclei, and is shown to be in a constant ratio. We measure the kinetic energy fraction, $R = ΣE_{kin}/(ΣE_{kin} + ΣQ_0)$, over a wide range of excitation energy for well-defined systems formed in the Cl + C reaction at… ▽ More
