Optical lithography is the main enabler to semiconductor manufacturing. It requires extensive processing to perform the Resolution Enhancement Techniques (RETs) required to transfer the design data to a working Integrated Circuits (ICs). The processing power and computational runtime for RETs tasks is ever increasing due to the continuous reduction of the feature size and the expansion of the chip area. State-of-the-art research sought Machine Learning (ML) technologies to reduce runtime and computational power, however they are still not used in production yet. In this study, we analyze the reasons holding back ML computational lithography from being production ready and present a novel highly scalable end-to-end flow that enables production ready ML-RET correction.

Abstract:
Ionizing radiation induces defects in STI oxides in current MOSFETs. These defects may degrade the performance of the MOS circuit. Analytical models for the buildup of these defects during the radiation exposure are available in literature. In this paper, we show that the classical model used to estimate the buildup of TID-induced traps in MOSTs predicts inaccurate results at high radiation levels…

Analytical models for the buildup of these defects during the radiation exposure are available in literature. In this paper, we show that the classical model used to estimate the buildup of TID-induced traps in MOSTs predicts inaccurate results at high radiation levels. We, further, introduce an improved model to estimate the buildup of defects that is valid for both low and high radiation doses. Our improved model is compared to published data showing its validity.

The CoVid-19 is spreading pandemically all over the world. A rapid defeat of the pandemic requires carrying out on the population a mass screening, able to separate positive from negative cases. Such a cleaning will free a flow of productive population. The current rate and cost of testing, performed with the common PCR (polymerase chain reaction) method and with the available resources, is forcing a selection of the subjects to be tested. Indeed, each one must be examined individually at the cost of precious time. Moreover, the exclusion of potentially positive individuals from screening induces health risks, a broad slowdown in the effort to curb the viral spread, and the consequent mortality rates. We present a new procedure, the Purified by Unified Resampling of Infected Multitudes, in short Purim, able to untangle any massive candidate sample with inexpensive screening, through the cross-correlated analysis of the joint speciments. This procedure can reveal and detect most negative patients and in most cases discover the identity of the few positives already in the first or few secondary tests. We investigate the the two-dimensional correlation case in function of the infection probability. The multi-dimensional topology, the scaled Purim procedure are also considered. Extensive Purim tests may measure and weight the degree of epidemic: their outcome may identify focal regions in the early stages. Assuming hundreds or thousand subjects, the saving both in time and in cost will be remarkable. Purim may be able to filter scheduled flights, scholar acceptance, popular international event participants. The optimal extension of Purim outcome is growing as the inverse of the epidemia expansion. Therefore, the earlier, the better.

This paper studied the change of vigilance based on stimulus coming consecutively using the computerized version of the Mackworth Clock Test run from PsyToolkit website. 7 participants (16.57 +/-1 years old, 2 males), performed 10 consecutive trials in order to measure whether or not it is a realistic goal for high school students to display the level of vigilance expected from them in class. Success percentages were calculated by dividing the number of correct jumps to the total number of jumps. The results indicated that while the average success percentage for all subjects remained relatively stable over the 10 trials (79% +/-7%), success percentages drop relatively as the number of jumps increase. Success rate dropped from 90% (2 jumps) to 70% (7 jumps). We conclude that there is an upper limit of vigilance that should be expected from students when they are exposed to more than 4 randomly occurring attention requiring task within a minute.

Object trackers based on Convolution Neural Network (CNN) have achieved state-of-the-art performance on recent tracking benchmarks, while they suffer from slow computational speed. The high computational load arises from the extraction of the feature maps of the candidate and training patches in every video frame. The candidate and training patches are typically placed randomly around the previous target location and the estimated target location respectively. In this paper, we propose novel schemes to speed-up the processing of the CNN-based trackers. We input the whole region-of-interest once to the CNN to eliminate the redundant computations of the random candidate patches. In addition to classifying each candidate patch as an object or background, we adapt the CNN to classify the target location inside the object patches as a coarse localization step, and we employ bilinear interpolation for the CNN feature maps as a fine localization step. Moreover, bilinear interpolation is exploited to generate CNN feature maps of the training patches without actually forwarding the training patches through the network which achieves a significant reduction of the required computations. Our tracker does not rely on offline video training. It achieves competitive performance results on the OTB benchmark with 8x speed improvements compared to the equivalent tracker.

The largest solar flare have been recorded in gamma flash and hard spectra up to tens GeV energy. The present building and upgrade of Hyper- Kamiokande (HK) in Japan and Korea, (as well as Deep Core, PINGU) Megatons neutrino detectors do offer a novel way to detectable trace of solar flares: their sudden anti-neutrino (or neutrino) imprint made by proton scattering and pion decays via Delta resonance production on solar corona foot-point. These signals might be observable at largest flare by HK via soft spectra up to tens-hundred MeV energy and by IceCube-PINGU at higher, GeVs energies. We show the expected rate of signals for the most powerful solar flare occurred in recent decades extrapolated for future Megaton detectors. The neutrino solar flare detection with its prompt alarm system may alert astronauts on space journey allowing them to hide themselves into inner rocket container surrounded by fuel or water supply. These container walls are able to defend astronauts from the main lethal (the dominant soft component) radiation wind due to such largest solar flares.

Visual object tracking is an active topic in the computer vision domain with applications extending over numerous fields. The main sub-tasks required to build an object tracker (e.g. object detection, feature extraction and object tracking) are computation-intensive. In addition, real-time operation of the tracker is indispensable for almost all of its applications. Therefore, complete hardware or hardware/software co-design approaches are pursued for better tracker implementations. This paper presents a literature survey of the hardware implementations of object trackers over the last two decades. Although several tracking surveys exist in literature, a survey addressing the hardware implementations of the different trackers is missing. We believe this survey would fill the gap and complete the picture with the existing surveys of how to design an efficient tracker and point out the future directions researchers can follow in this field. We highlight the lack of hardware implementations for state-of-the-art tracking algorithms as well as for enhanced classical algorithms. We also stress the need for measuring the tracking performance of the hardware-based trackers. Additionally, enough details of the hardware-based trackers need to be provided to allow reasonable comparison between the different implementations.

We considered a novel energy storage system based on the compression of air through pumped water. Differently from CAES on trial, the proposed indirect compression leaves the opportunity to choose the kind of compression from adiabatic to isothermal. The energy storage process could be both fast or slow leading to different configuration and applications. These novel storage system are modular and could be applied in different scales for different locations and applications, being very flexible in charge and discharge process. The system may offer an ideal energy buffer for wind and solar storage with no (or negligible) environment hazard. The main features of this novel energy storage system will be showed together with overall energy and power data.
