Statistical Analyses of Solar Prominences and Active Region Features in 304 Å Filtergrams detected via Deep Learning

Abstract: Solar active regions (ARs) are areas on the Sun with very strong magnetic fields where various activities take place. Prominences are one of the typical solar features in the solar atmosphere, whose eruptions often lead to solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Therefore, studying their morphological features and their relationship with solar activity is useful in predicting eruptive even… ▽ More Solar active regions (ARs) are areas on the Sun with very strong magnetic fields where various activities take place. Prominences are one of the typical solar features in the solar atmosphere, whose eruptions often lead to solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Therefore, studying their morphological features and their relationship with solar activity is useful in predicting eruptive events and in understanding the long-term evolution of solar activities. A huge amount of data have been collected from various ground-based telescopes and satellites. The massive data make human inspection difficult. For this purpose, we developed an automated detection method for prominences and ARs above the solar limb based on deep learning techniques. We applied it to process the 304 Ådata obtained by SDO/AIA from 2010 May 13 to 2020 December 31. Besides the butterfly diagrams and latitudinal migrations of the prominences and ARs during solar cycle 24, the variations of their morphological features (such as the locations, areas, heights, and widths) with the calendar years and the latitude bands were analyzed. Most of these statistical results based on our new method are in agreement with previous studies, which also guarantees the validity of our method. The N-S asymmetry indices of the prominences and ARs show that the northern hemisphere dominates in solar cycle 24, except for 2012--2015, and 2020 for ARs. The high-latitude prominences show much stronger N-S asymmetry that the northern hemisphere is dominant in $\sim$2011 and $\sim$2015 and the southern hemisphere is dominant during 2016--2019. △ Less

Abstract: With a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, we analyze the decays $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-l^+l^-(l=e,$ $μ)$ via the process $J/ψ\rightarrowγη'$. In addition, by combining the $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-$ and $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-$ decays, the slope parameter of the electromagnetic transition form factor is measured to be $b_{η'}=1.30\pm0.19\ (\mathrm{GeV}/c^{2})^{-2}$, which is consistent with previous measurements from BESIII and theoretical predictions from the VMD model. The asymmetry in the angle between the $π^+π^-$ and $l^+l^-$ decay planes, which has the potential to reveal the $CP$-violation originating from an unconventional electric dipole transition, is also investigated. The asymmetry parameters are determined to be $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-)=(-0.21\pm0.73(\rm{stat.})\pm0.01(\rm{syst.}))\%$ and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-)=(0.62\pm4.71(\rm{stat.})\pm0.08(\rm{syst.}))\%$, implying that no evidence of $CP$-violation is observed at the present statistics. Finally, an axion-like particle is searched for via the decay $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-a, a\rightarrow e^+e^-$, and upper limits of the branching fractions are presented for the mass assumptions of the axion-like particle in the range of $0-500\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$. △ Less

Abstract: Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the cross section of the inclusive process $e^{+}e^{-} \to η+ X$, normalized by the total cross section of $e^{+}e^{-} \to \text{hadrons}$, is measured at eight center-of-mass energy points from 2.0000 GeV to 3.6710 GeV. These are the first measurements with momentum dependence in this energy region. Our measurement shows a significant discrepancy from calculations with the existing fragmentation functions. In addition, we also use one single resonance to describe the $e^+e^-\rightarrowωχ_{c1}$ lineshape, and determine the mass and width to be $M=(4544.2\pm18.7\pm1.7)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=(116.1\pm33.5\pm1.7)$ MeV, respectively. By fitting the line shapes of the Born cross sections for the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowρπ$ and $ρ(1450)π$, a structure with mass $M = 2119\pm11\pm15\ {\rm MeV}/c^2$ and width $Γ=69\pm30\pm5 {\rm MeV}$ is observed with a significance of $5.9σ$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. A New Look at the Scalar Meson $f_0(500)$ via $D^+\to π^+π^-\ell^+ν_\ell$ Decays

Abstract: Using $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, we investigate the semileptonic decays $D^+\to π^+π^- \ell^+ν_\ell$ ($\ell=e$ and $μ$). By analyzing simultaneously the differential decay rates of $D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ$ and… ▽ More Using $2.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, we investigate the semileptonic decays $D^+\to π^+π^- \ell^+ν_\ell$ ($\ell=e$ and $μ$). The $D^+\to f_0(500)μ^+ν_μ$ decay is observed for the first time. By analyzing simultaneously the differential decay rates of $D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e$ in different $\ell^+ν_\ell$ four-momentum transfer intervals, the product of the relevant hadronic form factor $f^{f_0}_{+}(0)$ and the magnitude of the $c\to d$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ is determined to be $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)|V_{cd}|=0.0787\pm0.0060_{\rm stat}\pm0.0033_{\rm syst}$ for the first time. With the input of $|V_{cd}|$ from the global fit in the standard model, we determine $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)=0.350\pm0.027_{\rm stat}\pm0.015_{\rm syst}$. The absolute branching fractions of $D^+\to f_0(500)_{(π^+π^-)}μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to ρ^0_{(π^+π^-)} μ^+ν_μ$ are determined as $(0.72\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$ and $(1.64\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.11_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}$. Combining these results with those of previous BESIII measurements on their semielectronic counterparts from the same data sample, we test lepton flavor universality by measuring the branching fraction ratios ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to ρ^0 μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to ρ^0 e^+ν_e}=0.88\pm0.10$ and ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e}=1.14\pm0.28$, which are compatible with the standard model expectation. △ Less

Abstract: The absolute branching fraction of the decay $Λ_{c}(2625)^{+}\to Λ^{+}_{c}π^+π^-$ is measured for the first time to be $(50.7 \pm 5.0_{\rm{stat.}} \pm 4.9_{\rm{syst.}} )\%$ with 368.48 pb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected by the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s} = 4.918$ and $4.950$ GeV. This result is lower than the naive prediction of 67\%, obtained from isosp… ▽ More The absolute branching fraction of the decay $Λ_{c}(2625)^{+}\to Λ^{+}_{c}π^+π^-$ is measured for the first time to be $(50.7 \pm 5.0_{\rm{stat.}} \pm 4.9_{\rm{syst.}} )\%$ with 368.48 pb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected by the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s} = 4.918$ and $4.950$ GeV. This result is lower than the naive prediction of 67\%, obtained from isospin symmetry, by more than $2σ$, thereby indicating that the novel mechanism referred to as the \textit{threshold effect}, proposed for the strong decays of $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}$, also applies to $Λ_{c}(2625)^{+}$. This measurement is necessary to obtain the coupling constants for the transitions between $s$-wave and $p$-wave charmed baryons in heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory. In addition, we search for the decay $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}\to Λ^{+}_{c}π^+π^-$. Abstract: Based on a data sample of 10 billion $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, improved measurements of the Dalitz decays $η/η'\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ are performed, where the $η$ and $η'$ are produced through the radiative decays $J/ψ\rightarrowγη/η'$. The branching fractions of $η\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ and $η'\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ are measured to be $(7.07 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.23)\times10^{-3}$ and… ▽ More Based on a data sample of 10 billion $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, improved measurements of the Dalitz decays $η/η'\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ are performed, where the $η$ and $η'$ are produced through the radiative decays $J/ψ\rightarrowγη/η'$. The branching fractions of $η\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ and $η'\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ are measured to be $(7.07 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.23)\times10^{-3}$ and $(4.83\pm0.07\pm0.14)\times10^{-4}$, respectively. Within the single pole model, the parameter of electromagnetic transition form factor for $η\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ is determined to be $Λ_η=(0.749 \pm 0.027 \pm 0.007)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$. Within the multi-pole model, we extract the electromagnetic transition form factors for $η'\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ to be $Λ_{η'} = (0.802 \pm 0.007\pm 0.008)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$ and $γ_{η'} = (0.113\pm0.010\pm0.002)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$. The results are consistent with both theoretical predictions and previous measurements. The characteristic sizes of the interaction regions for the $η$ and $η'$ are calculated to be $(0.645 \pm 0.023 \pm 0.007 )~ {\rm fm}$ and $(0.596 \pm 0.005 \pm 0.006)~ {\rm fm}$, respectively. In addition, we search for the dark photon in $η/η^\prime\rightarrowγe^{+}e^{-}$, and the upper limits of the branching fractions as a function of the dark photon are given at 90\% confidence level. △ Less

The cross sections in $-0.9\leq\rm{cos}θ_{Λ/\barΛ}\leq0.9$ are measured to be $σ(Λp\rightarrowΛp)=(12.2\pm1.6_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.1_{\rm{sys}})$ mb and $σ(\barΛ p\rightarrow\barΛ p)=(17.5\pm2.1_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.6_{\rm{sys}})$ mb at the $Λ/\barΛ$ momentum of $1.074$ GeV/$c$ within a range of $\pm0.017$ GeV/$c$, where the $θ_{Λ/\barΛ}$ are the scattering angles of the $Λ/\barΛ$ in the $Λp/\barΛp$ rest frames. Furthermore, the differential cross sections of the two reactions are also measured, where there is a slight tendency of forward scattering for $Λp\rightarrowΛp$, and a strong forward peak for $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$. We present an approach to extract the total elastic cross sections by extrapolation. The study of $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$ represents the first study of antihyperon-nucleon scattering, and these new measurements will serve as important inputs for the theoretical understanding of the (anti)hyperon-nucleon interaction. △ Less

This dataset comprises 4,327 images and 21,635 Vietnamese captions, serving as a valuable resource for advancing image captioning in the Vietnamese language. We conduct experiments using various deep neural networks as the baselines on our dataset, evaluating them using the standard image captioning metrics, including BLEU, METEOR, CIDEr, and ROUGE. Abstract: We report the measurement of the cross sections for $e^+e^-\rightarrow {\rm hadrons}$ at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies from 3.645 to 3.871 GeV. We observe a new resonance $\mathcal R(3810)$ in the cross sections for the first time, and observe the $\mathcal R(3760)$ resonance with high significance in the cross sections. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ has a mass of $(3804.5 \pm 0.9 \pm 0.9)$ ~MeV/$c^2$,… ▽ More We report the measurement of the cross sections for $e^+e^-\rightarrow {\rm hadrons}$ at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies from 3.645 to 3.871 GeV. We observe a new resonance $\mathcal R(3810)$ in the cross sections for the first time, and observe the $\mathcal R(3760)$ resonance with high significance in the cross sections. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ has a mass of $(3804.5 \pm 0.9 \pm 0.9)$ ~MeV/$c^2$, a total width of $(5.4 \pm 3.5 \pm 3.2)$~MeV, and an electronic partial width of $(19.4 \pm 7.4 \pm 12.1)$~eV. Its significance is $7.7σ$. The $\mathcal R(3810)$ could be interpreted as a hadro-charmonium resonance predicted by Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). In addition, we measure the mass $(3751.9\pm 3.8\pm 2.8)$ ~MeV/$c^2$, the total width $(32.8 \pm 5.8 \pm 8.7)$~MeV, and the electronic partial width $(184\pm 75\pm 86)$~eV with improved precision for the $\mathcal R(3760)$. Furthermore, for the $\mathcal R(3780)$ we measure the mass $(3778.7\pm 0.5\pm 0.3)$ ~MeV/$c^2$ and total width $(20.3 \pm 0.8 \pm 1.7)$~MeV with improved precision, and the electronic partial width $(265\pm 69\pm 83)$~eV. The $\mathcal R(3780)$ can be interpreted as the $1^3D_1$ state of charmonium. Its mass and total width differ significantly from the corresponding fitted values given by the Particle Data Group in 2022 by 7.1 and 3.2 times the uncertainties for $ψ(3770)$, respectively. $ψ(3770)$ has been interpreted as the $1^3D_1$ state for 45 years. △ Less

Abstract: A massless particle beyond the Standard Model is searched for in the two-body decay $Σ^+\rightarrow p+{\rm invisible}$ using $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ events collected at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097$ GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction $B(Σ^+\rightarrow p+{\rm invisible})$… ▽ More A massless particle beyond the Standard Model is searched for in the two-body decay $Σ^+\rightarrow p+{\rm invisible}$ using $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ events collected at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097$ GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. High Throughput Inter-Layer Connecting Strategy for Multi-Layer Ultra-Dense Satellite Networks

The hop-count of cross-layer communication paths can be reduced by deploying in… ▽ More Multi-layer ultra-dense satellite networks (MLUDSNs) have soared this meteoric to provide vast throughputd for globally diverse services. Differing from traditional monolayer constellations, MLUDSNs emphasize the spatial integration among layers, and its throughput may not be simply the sum of throughput of each layer. The hop-count of cross-layer communication paths can be reduced by deploying inter-layer connections (ILCs), augmenting MLUDSN's throughput. Therefore, it remains an open issue how to deploy ILCs to optimize the dynamic MLUDSN topology to dramatically raise throughput gains under multi-layer collaboration. This paper designs an ILC deployment strategy to enhance throughput by revealing the impacts of ILC distribution on reducing hop-count. Since deploying ILCs burdens the satellite with extra communication resource consumption, we model the ILC deployment problem as minimizing the average hop with limited ILCs, to maximize throughput. The proposed problem is a typical integer linear programming (ILP) problem, of which computational complexity is exponential as the satellite scale expands and the time evolves. Based on the symmetrical topology of each layer, we propose a two-phase deployment scheme to halve the problem scale and prioritize stable ILCs to reduce handover-count, which decreases the exponential complexity to a polynomial one, with 1% estimation error: Simulation results based on realistic megaconstellation information confirm that the optimal number of ILCs is less than P.S/2, where P and S are orbits and satellites per orbit. Besides, these ILCs deploy uniformly in each layer, which raises over 1.55x throughput than isolated layers. △ Less

Solving Label Variation in Scientific Information Extraction via Multi-Task Learning

The complexity of this task is compounded by the necessity for domain-specific knowledge and the limited availability of annotated data. Two of the most popular datasets for ScientificIE are SemEval-2018 Task-7 and SciERC. They have overlap** samples and differ in their annotation schemes, which leads to conflicts. In this study, we first introduced a novel approach based on multi-task learning to address label variations. We then proposed a soft labeling technique that converts inconsistent labels into probabilistic distributions. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method can enhance the model robustness to label noise and improve the end-to-end performance in both ScientificIE tasks. The analysis revealed that label variations can be particularly effective in handling ambiguous instances. Furthermore, the richness of the information captured by label variations can potentially reduce data size requirements. The findings highlight the importance of releasing variation labels and promote future research on other tasks in other domains. Overall, this study demonstrates the effectiveness of multi-task learning and the potential of label variations to enhance the performance of ScientificIE. △ Less

Abstract: Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 10.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.16 to 4.34 GeV with the BESIII detector, we search for the decay $χ_{c1}(3872) \to π^{+}π^{-}χ_{c1}$ in the radiative production $e^{+}e^{-} \to γχ_{c1}(3872)$. Abstract: We present cross sections for the reaction $e^+e^-\to K_S^0K_L^0$ at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.51 GeV to 4.95 GeV using data samples collected in the BESIII experiment, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 26.5 fb$^{-1}$. The ratio of neutral-to-charged kaon form factors at large momentum transfers ($12~{\rm GeV}^2<Q^2<25~{\rm GeV}^2$) is determined to be $0.21\pm 0.01$,… ▽ More We present cross sections for the reaction $e^+e^-\to K_S^0K_L^0$ at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.51 GeV to 4.95 GeV using data samples collected in the BESIII experiment, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 26.5 fb$^{-1}$. The ratio of neutral-to-charged kaon form factors at large momentum transfers ($12~{\rm GeV}^2<Q^2<25~{\rm GeV}^2$) is determined to be $0.21\pm 0.01$, which indicates a small but significant effect of flavor-SU(3) breaking in the kaon wave function, and consequently excludes the possibility that flavor-SU(3) breaking is the primary reason for the strong experimental violation of the pQCD prediction $|F(π^{\pm})|/|F(K^{\pm})|=f^2_π/f^2_{K}$, where $F(π^{\pm})$ and $F(K^{\pm})$ are the form factors, and $f_π$ and $f_{K}$ are the decay constants of charged pions and kaons, respectively. We also observe a significant signal for the charmless decay $ψ(3770)\to K_S^0K_L^0$ for the first time. Within a $1σ$ contour of the likelihood value, the the branching fraction for $ψ(3770)\to K_S^0K_L^0$ is determined to be ${\cal B}=(2.63_{-1.59}^{+1.40})\times 10^{-5}$, and the relative phase between the continuum and $ψ(3770)$ amplitudes is $φ=(-0.39_{-0.10}^{+0.05})π$. The branching fraction is in good agreement with the $\mathcal{S}$- and $\mathcal{D}$-wave charmonia mixing scheme proposed in the interpretation of the "$ρπ$ puzzle" between $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays. △ Less

The Born cross sections are $15.6\pm3.1\pm0.9$ pb and $29.4\pm3.7\pm2.7$ pb for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2595)^- + \rm{c.c.}$, and are $43.4\pm4.0\pm4.1$ pb and $76.8\pm6.5\pm4.2$ pb for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- +\rm{c.c.}$ at $\sqrt s=4918.0$ and 4950.9 MeV, respectively. Based on the polar angle distributions of the $\barΛ_{c}(2625)^-$ and $Λ_{c}(2625)^+$, the form-factor ratios $\sqrt{|G_{E}|^2 + 3|G_{M}|^2}/|G_{C}|$ are determined for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- + \rm{c.c.}$ for the first time, which are $5.95\pm4.07\pm0.15$ and $0.94\pm0.32\pm0.02$ at $\sqrt s=4918.0$ and 4950.9 MeV, respectively. Abstract: The FAST All Sky HI survey (FASHI) was designed to cover the entire sky observable by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), spanning approximately 22000 square degrees of declination between -14 deg and +66 deg, and in the frequency range of 1050-1450 MHz, with the expectation of eventually detecting more than 100000 HI sources. Between August 2020 and June 2023, FASHI… ▽ More The FAST All Sky HI survey (FASHI) was designed to cover the entire sky observable by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), spanning approximately 22000 square degrees of declination between -14 deg and +66 deg, and in the frequency range of 1050-1450 MHz, with the expectation of eventually detecting more than 100000 HI sources. Between August 2020 and June 2023, FASHI had covered more than 7600 square degrees, which is approximately 35% of the total sky observable by FAST. It has a median detection sensitivity of around 0.76 mJy/beam and a spectral line velocity resolution of ~6.4 km/s at a frequency of ~1.4 GHz. As of now, a total of 41741 extragalactic HI sources have been detected in the frequency range 1305.5-1419.5 MHz, corresponding to a redshift limit of z<0.09. By cross-matching FASHI sources with the Siena Galaxy Atlas (SGA) and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) catalogs, we found that 16972 (40.7%) sources have spectroscopic redshifts and 10975 (26.3%) sources have only photometric redshifts. Most of the remaining 13794 (33.0%) HI sources are located in the direction of the Galactic plane, making their optical counterparts difficult to identify due to high extinction or high contamination of Galactic stellar sources. Based on current survey results, the FASHI survey is an unprecedented blind extragalactic HI survey. It has higher spectral and spatial resolution and broader coverage than the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey (ALFALFA). When completed, FASHI will provide the largest extragalactic HI catalog and an objective view of HI content and large-scale structure in the local universe. △ Less

The fit fractions of individual components are obtained, and large interferences among the dominant components of $D^{0}\to a_{1}(1260)π$, $D^{0}\toπ(1300)π$, $D^{0}\toρ(770)ρ(770)$ and $D^{0}\to2(ππ)_{S}$ are found in both channels. With the obtained amplitude model, the $CP$-even fractions of $D^0\to π^+π^-π^+π^-$ and $D^0\toπ^+π^-π^0π^0$(non-$η$) are determined to be $(75.2\pm1.1_{\rm stat.}\pm1.5_{\rm syst.})\%$ and $(68.9\pm1.5_{\rm stat.}\pm 2.4_{\rm syst.})\%$, respectively. The branching fractions of $D^0\to π^+π^-π^+π^-$ and $D^0\toπ^+π^-π^0π^0$(non-$η$) are measured to be $(0.688\pm0.010_{\rm stat.}\pm 0.010_{\rm syst.})\%$ and $(0.951\pm0.025_{\rm stat.}\pm 0.021_{\rm syst.})\%$, respectively. The amplitude analysis provides an important model for binning strategy in the measurements of the strong phase parameters of $D^0 \to 4π$ when used to determine the CKM angle $γ(φ_{3})$ via the $B^{-}\to D K^{-}$ decay. △ Less

The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of $6.4~{\rm fb^{-1}}$, in the center-of-mass energy range from $4.600~{\rm GeV}$ to $4.950~{\rm GeV}$. We determine the branching fractions of $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^0$ and $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^+π^-$ relative to their Cabibbo-favored counterparts to be $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^0)}{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \rightarrow Λπ^+π^0)} = (2.09\pm0.39_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.07_{\mathrm{syst.}}) \times 10^{-2}$ and $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^+π^-)}{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \rightarrow Λπ^+π^+π^-)} = (1.13\pm0.41_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.06_{\mathrm{syst.}}) \times 10^{-2}$, respectively. Moreover, by combining our measured result with the world average of $\mathcal{B}(Λ^+_c\to Λπ^+π^0)$, we obtain the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \to ΛK^+π^0) = (1.49\pm0.27_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.05_{\mathrm{syst.}}\pm0.08_{\mathrm{ref.}}) \times 10^{-3}$. This result significantly departs from theoretical predictions based on quark $SU(3)$ flavor symmetry, which is underpinned by the presumption of meson pair $S$-wave amplitude dominance. △ Less

Abstract: Using a sample of 10 billion $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the decays $η' \to π^{+}π^{-}π^{+}π^{-}$, $η' \to π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}π^{0}$ and $η' \to 4 π^{0}$ are studied via the process $J/ψ\toγη'$. Improved Dense Nested Attention Network Based on Transformer for Infrared Small Target Detection

However, the features of infrared small targets gradually weaken as the depth of convolutional neural network (CNN) increases. To address this issue, we propose a novel method for detecting infrared small targets called improved dense nested attention network (IDNANet), which is based on the transformer architecture. We preserve the dense nested structure of dense nested attention network (DNANet) and introduce the Swin-transformer during feature extraction stage to enhance the continuity of features. Furthermore, we integrate the ACmix attention structure into the dense nested structure to enhance the features of intermediate layers. Additionally, we design a weighted dice binary cross-entropy (WD-BCE) loss function to mitigate the negative impact of foreground-background imbalance in the samples. Moreover, we develop a dataset specifically for infrared small targets, called BIT-SIRST. The dataset comprises a significant amount of real-world targets and manually annotated labels, as well as synthetic data and corresponding labels. We have evaluated the effectiveness of our method through experiments conducted on public datasets. In comparison to other state-of-the-art methods, our approach outperforms in terms of probability of detection ($P_d$), false-alarm rate ($F_a$), and mean intersection of union ($mIoU$). The $mIoU$ reaches 90.89\% on the NUDT-SIRST dataset and 79.72\% on the SIRST dataset. Evidence of the Singly Cabibbo Suppressed decay $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$

Combining with the branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+$, $(6.6\pm1.3)\times10^{-4}$, the ratio of the branching fractions of $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+$ and $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$ is calculated to be $3.2^{+2.2}_{-1.2}$. As an important input for the theoretical models describing the decay mechanisms of charmed baryons, our result indicates that the non-factorizable contributions play an essential role and their interference with the factorizable contributions should not be significant. The branching fractions of each channel are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow \bar{p} Σ^{+} K_{S}^{0})=(1.361 \pm 0.006 \pm 0.025) \times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow p \barΣ^{-} K_{S}^{0})=(1.352 \pm 0.006 \pm 0.025) \times 10^{-4}$. The combined result is $\mathcal{B}(J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow \bar{p} Σ^{+} K_{S}^{0} +c.c.)=(2.725 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.050) \times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Self-MI: Efficient Multimodal Fusion via Self-Supervised Multi-Task Learning with Auxiliary Mutual Information Maximization

In this study, we propose Self-MI in the self-supervised learning fashion, which also leverage Contrastive Predictive Coding (CPC) as an auxiliary technique to maximize the Mutual Information (MI) between unimodal input pairs and the multimodal fusion result with unimodal inputs. Moreover, we design a label generation module, $ULG_{MI}$ for short, that enables us to create meaningful and informative labels for each modality in a self-supervised manner. By maximizing the Mutual Information, we encourage better alignment between the multimodal fusion and the individual modalities, facilitating improved multimodal fusion. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets including CMU-MOSI, CMU-MOSEI, and SIMS, demonstrate the effectiveness of Self-MI in enhancing the multimodal fusion task. △ Less

Flexible uniform-sampling foveated Fourier single-pixel imaging

Abstract: Fourier single-pixel imaging (FSI) is a data-efficient single-pixel imaging (SPI). However, there is still a serious challenge to obtain higher imaging quality using fewer measurements, which limits the development of real-time SPI. In this work, a uniform-sampling foveated FSI (UFFSI) is proposed with three features, uniform sampling, effective sampling and flexible fovea, to achieve under-sampli… ▽ More Fourier single-pixel imaging (FSI) is a data-efficient single-pixel imaging (SPI). However, there is still a serious challenge to obtain higher imaging quality using fewer measurements, which limits the development of real-time SPI. In this work, a uniform-sampling foveated FSI (UFFSI) is proposed with three features, uniform sampling, effective sampling and flexible fovea, to achieve under-sampling high-efficiency and high-quality SPI, even in a large-scale scene. First, by flexibly using the three proposed foveated pattern structures, data redundancy is reduced significantly to only require high resolution (HR) on regions of interest (ROIs), which radically reduces the need of total data number. Next, by the non-uniform weight distribution processing, non-uniform spatial sampling is transformed into uniform sampling, then the fast Fourier transform is used accurately and directly to obtain under-sampling high imaging quality with further reduced measurements. At a sampling ratio of 0.0084 referring to HR FSI with 1024*768 pixels, experimentally, by UFFSI with 255*341 cells of 89% reduction in data redundancy, the ROI has a significantly better imaging quality to meet imaging needs. The upper limits on the branching fractions of $Λ_{c}^+ \to Σ^{0}K^{+}π^{0}$ and $ΛK^{+}π^{0}$ are also determined to be $1.8\times 10^{-3}$ and $ 2.0 \times 10^{-3}$, respectively. △ Less

A Virtual Reality Training System for Automotive Engines Assembly and Disassembly

Traditional education trains students to learn automotive engine assembly and disassembly in lecture courses and then to operate with physical engines, which are generally low effectiveness and high cost. In this work, we developed a multi-layer structured Virtual Reality (VR) system to provide students with training in automotive engine (Buick Verano) assembly and disassembly. We designed the VR training system with The VR training system is designed to have several major features, including replaceable engine parts and reusable tools, friendly user interfaces and guidance, and bottom-up designed multi-layer architecture, which can be extended to various engine models. The VR system is evaluated with controlled experiments of two groups of students. The results demonstrate that our VR training system provides remarkable usability in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. Currently, our VR system has been demonstrated and employed in the courses of Chinese colleges to train students in automotive engine assembly and disassembly. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/$c^2$ in the line-shape of the $3(π^+π^-)$ invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlap** resonant structure… ▽ More Using a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events, which is about 45 times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the $J/ψ\rightarrow γ3(π^+π^-)$ decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/$c^2$ in the line-shape of the $3(π^+π^-)$ invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlap** resonant structures, $X(1840)$ and $X(1880)$. The new state $X(1880)$ is observed with a statistical significance larger than $10σ$. The mass and width of $X(1880)$ are determined to be $1882.1\pm1.7\pm0.7$ MeV/$c^2$ and $30.7\pm5.5 \pm2.4$ MeV, respectively, which indicates the existence of a $p\bar{p}$ bound state. △ Less

Recent discoveries of concentrated starburst activities in cluster cores have opened a new window to hunt for these structures based on their integrated IR luminosities. Recent discoveries of concentrated starburst activities in cluster cores have opened a new window to hunt for these structures based on their integrated IR luminosities. Hereby we carry out the large NOEMA (NOrthern Extended Millimeter Array) program targeting a statistical sample of infrared-luminous sources associated with overdensities of massive galaxies at z>2, the Noema formIng Cluster survEy (NICE). We present the first result from the ongoing NICE survey, a compact group at z=3.95 in the Lockman Hole field (LH-SBC3), confirmed via four massive (M_star>10^10.5M_sun) galaxies detected in CO(4-3) and [CI](1-0) lines. The four CO-detected members of LH-SBC3 are distributed over a 180 kpc physical scale, and the entire structure has an estimated halo mass of ~10^13Msun and total star formation rate (SFR) of ~4000Msun/yr. In addition, the most massive galaxy hosts a radio-loud AGN with L_1.4GHz, rest = 3.0*10^25W/Hz. The discovery of LH-SBC3 demonstrates the feasibility of our method to efficiently identify high-z compact groups or forming cluster cores. The existence of these starbursting cluster cores up to z~4 provides critical insights into the mass assembly history of the central massive galaxies in clusters. △ Less

The Potential of Detecting Nearby Terrestrial Planets in the HZ with Different Methods

Abstract: Terrestrial planets in the habitable zone around nearby stars are of great interest and provide a good sample for further characteristics of their habitability. In this paper, we collect a nearby star catalog within 20 pc according to the Gaia Catalog of Nearby Stars, complete the physical parameters of the stars, and select stars that are not brown dwarfs or white dwarfs. After selection, a sampl… ▽ More Terrestrial planets in the habitable zone around nearby stars are of great interest and provide a good sample for further characteristics of their habitability. In this paper, we collect a nearby star catalog within 20 pc according to the Gaia Catalog of Nearby Stars, complete the physical parameters of the stars, and select stars that are not brown dwarfs or white dwarfs. After selection, a sample of 2234 main-sequence stars is used to estimate the extended HZ. Then we inject Earth-like planets into the extended HZ around each star and calculate the signals with four methods, i.e.; velocity amplitude for radial velocity, transit probability and depth for transit, stellar displacements for astrometry, and contrast and angular separation for imaging. Considering a typical noise model based on classic instruments, we predict the highest possible detection number of Earth-like planets via different methods in the best-case hypothetical scenario. According to this, we conclude that both astrometry and imaging have the potential to detect nearby Earth-like planets around G type stars, while radial velocity has the potential to detect 2% of nearby Earth-like planets around M stars under a precision of 0.2 m/s. Our work also provides the precision requirements for future missions to reveal the nearby Earth-like planet in the HZ. △ Less

In addition to the dominant $e^+e^-\toρη$ component, the $e^+e^-\to a_2(1320)π$ process is also sizeable, contributing up to 24% of the total reaction. The measured cross sections of th… ▽ More Using data samples collected at center-of-mass energies between 2.000 and 3.080 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, a partial-wave analysis is performed on the process $e^+e^-\toηπ^+π^-$. In addition to the dominant $e^+e^-\toρη$ component, the $e^+e^-\to a_2(1320)π$ process is also sizeable, contributing up to 24% of the total reaction. The measured cross sections of the process $e^+e^-\toηπ^+π^-$ are systematically higher than those of BaBar by more than $3σ$ at center-of-mass energies between 2.000 and 2.300 GeV. In the cross section lineshape for $e^+e^-\to a_2(1320)π$, a resonant structure is observed with a significance of $5.5σ$, with $M=(2044\pm31\pm4)$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ=(163\pm69\pm24)$ MeV and $\mathcal{B_{R}}\cdotΓ_{e^+e^-}^{R}=(34.6\pm17.1\pm6.0)$ eV or $(137.1\pm73.3\pm2.1)$ eV. How enlightened self-interest guided global vaccine sharing benefits all: a modelling study

This study aims to evaluate the existence and possible outcomes of a more equitable global vaccine distribution and explore a concrete incentive mechanism that promotes vaccine equity. Methods: W… ▽ More Background: Despite the consensus that vaccines play an important role in combating the global spread of infectious diseases, vaccine inequity is still rampant with deep-seated mentality of self-priority. This study aims to evaluate the existence and possible outcomes of a more equitable global vaccine distribution and explore a concrete incentive mechanism that promotes vaccine equity. Methods: We design a metapopulation epidemiological model that simultaneously considers global vaccine distribution and human mobility, which is then calibrated by the number of infections and real-world vaccination records during COVID-19 pandemic from March 2020 to July 2021. We explore the possibility of the enlightened self-interest incentive mechanism, i.e., improving one's own epidemic outcomes by sharing vaccines with other countries, by evaluating the number of infections and deaths under various vaccine sharing strategies using the proposed model. To understand how these strategies affect the national interests, we distinguish the imported and local cases for further cost-benefit analyses that rationalize the enlightened self-interest incentive mechanism behind vaccine sharing. ... △ Less
