Hybrid multiferroic films are fabricated by depositing of Pt/Co/Pt multilayers onto [001] and [110] cuts of PMN-PT crystal. The dependence of the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (iDMI) on applied electric field is experimentally investigated in the system by the Brilloin light scattering method. A strong variation (from -0.2 to 0.8 mJ/m2) of the iDMI constant is observed when the electric field is applied. In the case of [001] cut, the observed changes in the iDMI have an isotropic character, while in the case of [110] cut they are anisotropic, which corresponds to the symmetry of the PMN-PT deformations. The change in the iDMI is accompanied by the formation of various unusual domain structures and skyrmion lattices. External control of the DMI with an electric field opens the way to manipulate topological magnetic solitons (such as skyrmions), which are promising objects for information processing and storage.

Normally in superconductors, as in conductors, in the state with zero current $I$ the momentum of superconducting electrons $\hbar q =0$. Here we demonstrate theoretically and present experimental evidences that in superconducting/normal metal (SN) hybrid strip placed in in-plane magnetic field $B_{in}$ finite momentum state ($\hbar q \neq 0$) is realized when $I=0$. This state is characterized by current-momentum dependence $I(q)\neq -I(-q)$, nonreciprocal kinetic inductance $L_k(I) \neq L_k(-I)$ and different values of depairing currents $I_{dep}^{\pm}$ flowing along the SN strip in opposite directions. Found properties have {\it orbital} nature and are originated from gradient of density of superconducting electrons $\nabla n$ across the thickness of SN strip and field induced Meissner currents. We argue that this type of finite momentum state should be rather general phenomena in superconducting structures with artificial or intrinsic inhomogeneities.

The Hall effect that occurs when current flows through a CoFeB/MgO/Pt tunnel junction is investigated. It is shown that the transverse voltage in Pt electrode is nonlinear on a DC voltage applied to the tunnel junction. It has both linear (odd) and quadratic (even) parts. The linear part contains well-known contributions of the anomalous Hall effect in the ferromagnetic electrode, inverse spin-hall effect in platinum and others. The quadratic part is a phenomenon caused by the spin-orbit scattering of electrons in an external electric field induced by a voltage applied to the barrier. This field reaches values of $10^9$ V/m which is close to internal atomic fields. The magnitude of both effects decreases as thickness of Pt electrode is increased due to shunting effects.

We study voltage controllable superconducting state in multi-terminal bridge composed of the dirty superconductor/pure normal metal (SN) bilayer and pure normal metal. In the proposed system small control current $I_{ctrl}$ flows via normal bridge, creates voltage drop $V$ and modifies distribution function of electrons in connected SN bilayer. In case of long normal bridge the voltage induced nonequilibrium effects could be interpreted in terms of increased local electron temperature. In this limit we experimentally find large sensitivity of critical curent $I_c$ of Cu/MoN/Pt-Cu bridge to $I_{ctrl}$ and relatively large current gain which originate from steep dependence of $I_c$ on temperature and large $I_c$ (comparable with theoretical depairing current of superconducting bridge). In the short normal bridge deviation from equilibrium cannot be described by simple increase of local temperature but we also theoretically find large sensitivity of $I_c$ to control current/voltage. In this limit we predict existence at finite $V$ of so called in-plane Fulde-Ferrell state with spontaneous currents in SN bilayer. We argue that its appearance is connected with voltage induced paramagnetic response in N layer.

Multilayers of heavy metals and ferromagnets are the basis for the formation of various structures with inhomogeneous chiral magnetic distributions. The most informative method for studying magnetic states in such structures with a high spatial resolution is Lorentz transmission electron microscopy (L-TEM). Here, we report on the observation of chiral Néel domain walls by means of L-TEM in Co/Pt multilayers with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. We explain the existence of chiral Néel internal structure due to the overcritical, giant interfacial induced Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. Our results are confirmed by micromagnetic modeling, which allows taking into account the effect of local inhomogeneity of the magnetic anisotropy of polycrystalline films on formation of spin textures.

An inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) in n-type silicon was observed experimentally when conduction electrons were scattered on the spin-orbit potential of bismuth. The spin current in the silicon layer was generated by excitation of the magnetization precession during ferromagnetic resonance in a thin permalloy (Py) layer deposited on a Si layer doped by phosphor and bismuth. From the angular dependences of the dc voltage for different Py/n-Si:Bi structures aligned along the [011] or [100] crystal axes, we were able to distinguish the planar Hall effect (PHE) and ISHE contributions. The ISHE dc voltage signal was proportional to sinθ*sin2θ product for the structure aligned to the [011] crystal axis and to sinθ*cos2θ for the [100] direction. In addition, the PHE dc voltage was observed for the angles corresponded to the sin2θ dependence. It means that for silicon as a many-valley semiconductor, the scattering of spins due to the spin-orbit potential induced by shallow donor in n-type material is dependent on the orientation of the valley axes relative to the direction of the magnetic field.

Interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) is experimentally investigated in Pt/Co/Pt multilayer films under strain. A strong variation (from 0.1 to 0.8 mJ/m$^2$) of the DMI constant is demonstrated at $\pm 0.1\%$ in-plane uniaxial deformation of the films. The anisotropic strain induces strong DMI anisotropy. The DMI constant perpendicular to the strain direction changes sign while the constant along the strain direction does not. Estimates are made showing that DMI manipulation with an electric field can be realized in hybrid ferroelectric/ferromagnetic systems. So, the observed effect opens the way to manipulate the DMI and eventually skyrmions with a voltage via a strain-mediated magneto-electric coupling.

Surfaces and interfaces of magnetic nanostructures can reveal rather interesting and unusual properties that differ substantially from those of bulky materials. Here we apply the surface-sensitive method of optical second harmonic generation (SHG) for the studies of magnetization induced effects that appear in the nonlinear reflection from interfaces between ferromagnetic (Co) and heavy metals (Pt, Ta, W, Au, Ag, Cu). We demonstrate the appearance of magnetization induced variation in the p-polarized SHG intensity in the geometry of the longitudinal magneto-optical Kerr effect that is forbidden for homogeneous magnetic structures. This confirms the existence of chiral magnetic states at heavy metal/ferromagnet interfaces that appear due to the surface-induced Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. The related nonlinear chiroptical effect in the SHG intensity is proportional to the dc flexo-electric polarization that is shown to exist for chiral magnetic states at the considered interfaces.

The magnetooptical Kerr effect (MOKE) and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) measurements show up the essentially non-collinear state of magnetic moments of the layers and strong exchange coupling between CoPt and Co subsystems. The estimation of effective anisotropy and exchange coupling in a simple model based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation describing magnetization dynamics was performed.
