We report the measurement of the helicity asymmetry $E$ for the $pπ^0$ and $nπ^+$ final states using, for the first time, an elliptically polarized photon beam in combination with a longitudinally polarized target at the Crystal Ball experiment at MAMI. The results agree very well with data that were taken with a circularly polarized photon beam, showing that it is possible to simultaneously measure polarization observables that require linearly (e.g.~$G$) and circularly polarized photons (e.g.~$E$) and a longitudinally polarized target. The new data cover a photon energy range 270 - 1400 MeV for the $pπ^0$ final state (230 - 842 MeV for the $nπ^+$ final state) and the full range of pion polar angles, $θ$, providing the most precise measurement of the observable $E$. A moment analysis gives a clear observation of the $pη$ cusp in the $pπ^0$ final state.

A new data set for the helicity-dependent differential cross section of the single-meson photoproduction reaction $γp \to p π^{0}$ was obtained for the photon energy interval 150-400 MeV. The experiment was performed at the A2 tagged photon facility of the Mainz Microtron MAMI using a circularly polarized photon beam and a longitudinally polarized proton target. The reaction products were detected with the large acceptance Crystal Ball/TAPS calorimeter covering 97\% of the full solid angle. These new results, obtained with a fine energy and polar angle binning, greatly increase both the existing quantity and quality of the data available for this observable. A moment analysis, based on a finite expansion in Legendre polynomials, was applied to these data by using a bootstrap-based fitting method to correctly account for their systematic uncertainties. From the resulting decomposition of the differential cross sections, the $E2/M1$ ratio for the $N\to Δ(1232)$ transition was determined to be $[-2.38 \pm 0.16{\hbox{ (stat.+sys.)}} \pm 0.10 {\hbox{ (model)}}] \%$. Combining this value with previous results also allowed us to evaluate the most precise available estimate of the $E2/M1$ ratio to be used for all further reference and model comparisons.

Photoproduction of $π^0π^{\pm}$-pairs from quasifree nucleons bound in the deuteron has been investigated to study the helicity dependence of this reaction. Measurements with a liquid deuterium target were used to extract the unpolarized cross sections for reactions on protons and neutrons. A deuterated, longitudinally polarized solid-butanol target, together with a circularly polarized photon beam, determined the double polarization observable $E$. From these results the spin-dependent cross sections $σ_{1/2}$ and $σ_{3/2}$, corresponding to the anti-parallel and parallel spin configurations of the beam photon and target nucleon, have been derived. The measurements were performed at the Mainz MAMI accelerator with tagged, circularly-polarized photon beams produced via bremsstrahlung from longitudinally polarized electron beams. The reaction products were detected with an almost $4π$ solid-angle covering calorimeter composed of the Crystal Ball and TAPS detectors, supplemented by plastic scintillation detectors for charged particle identification. The results are sensitive to sequential decays of nucleon resonances via intermediate states and also to the decay of nucleon resonances by emission of charged $ρ$ mesons, and are compared to recent model results.

It is shown that on any Reflection Equation algebra there exists a formula, which brings into correlation the Schur polynomials and power sums by means of the characters of the Hecke algebras in the spirit of the classical Frobenius formula.

Molecular subtypes of colorectal cancer (CRC) significantly influence treatment decisions. While convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have recently been introduced for automated CRC subtype identification using H&E stained histopathological images, the correlation between CRC subtype genomic variants and their corresponding cellular morphology expressed by their imaging phenotypes is yet to be fully explored. The goal of this study was to determine such correlations by incorporating genomic variants in CNN models for CRC subtype classification from H&E images. We utilized the publicly available TCGA-CRC-DX dataset, which comprises whole slide images from 360 CRC-diagnosed patients (260 for training and 100 for testing). This dataset also provides information on CRC subtype classifications and genomic variations. We trained CNN models for CRC subtype classification that account for potential correlation between genomic variations within CRC subtypes and their corresponding cellular morphology patterns. We assessed the interplay between CRC subtypes' genomic variations and cellular morphology patterns by evaluating the CRC subtype classification accuracy of the different models in a stratified 5-fold cross-validation experimental setup using the area under the ROC curve (AUROC) and average precision (AP) as the performance metrics. Combining the CNN models account for variations in CIMP and SNP further improved classification accuracy (AUROC: 0.847$\pm$0.01 vs. 0.787$\pm$0.03, p$=$0.01, AP: 0.68$\pm$0.02 vs. 0.64$\pm$0.05).

We consider the problem of constructing some projectors on homogenous components of such algebras, which are analogs of the usual symmetrizers. The main objective of this note is to present a method, which hopefully enables one to construct symmetrizers on all homogenous components of the RTT algebras. We illustrate the construction by two low-dimensional examples. A way of extending this method onto other quantum matrix algebras is also discussed.

A first measurement of the polarisation transfer from a circularly-polarised photon to the final state neutron ($C^n_{x'}$) in deuterium photodisintegration has been carried out. This quantity is determined over the photon energy range 370~--~700~MeV and for neutron centre-of-mass breakup angles $\sim45-120^{\circ}$. The polarisation of the final state neutrons was determined by an ancillary large-acceptance nucleon polarimeter, surrounding a cryogenic liquid deuterium target within the Crystal Ball detector at MAMI. The polarimeter characterised $(n,p)$ charge exchange of the ejected neutrons to determine their polarisation. The new $C^n_{x'}$ data are also compared to a theoretical model based on nucleonic and nucleon resonance degrees of freedom constrained by the current world-database of deuterium photodisintegration measurements. Structures in $C^n_{x'}$ observed in the region of the $d^*(2380)$ could not be explained by conventional models of deuteron photodisintegration.

The helicity-dependent single $π^{0}$ photoproduction cross section on the deuteron and the angular dependence of the double polarisation observable $E$ for the quasi-free single $π^0$ production off the proton and the neutron have been measured for the first time from the threshold region up to the photon energy 1.4 GeV. The experiment was performed at the tagged photon facility of the MAMI accelerator and used a circularly polarised photon beam and longitudinally polarised deuteron target. The reaction products were detected using the large acceptance Crystal Ball/TAPS calorimeter, which covered 97% of the full solid angle.
Comparing the cross section from the deuteron with the sum of free nucleon cross sections provides a quantitative estimate of the effects of the nuclear medium on pion production. In contrast, comparison of $E$ helicity asymmetry data from quasi-free protons off deuterium with data from a free proton target indicates that nuclear effects do not significantly affect this observable. As a consequence, it is deduced that the helicity asymmetry $E$ on a free neutron can be reliably extracted from measurements on a deuteron in quasi-free kinematics.

This paper derives an optimal control strategy for a simple stochastic dynamical system with constant drift and an additive control input. Motivated by the example of a physical system with an unexpected change in its dynamics, we take the drift parameter to be unknown, so that it must be learned while controlling the system. The state of the system is observed through a linear observation model with Gaussian noise. In contrast to most previous work, which focuses on a controller's asymptotic performance over an infinite time horizon, we minimize a quadratic cost function over a finite time horizon. The performance of our control strategy is quantified by comparing its cost with the cost incurred by an optimal controller that has full knowledge of the parameters. This approach gives rise to several notions of "regret." We derive a set of control strategies that provably minimize the worst-case regret; these arise from Bayesian strategies that assume a specific fixed prior on the drift parameter. This work suggests that examining Bayesian strategies may lead to optimal or near-optimal control strategies for a much larger class of realistic dynamical models with unknown parameters.

A precise measurement of the differential cross-sections $dσ/dΩ$ and the linearly polarized photon beam asymmetry $Σ_3$ for Compton scattering on the proton below pion threshold has been performed with a tagged photon beam and almost $4π$ detector at the Mainz Microtron. The incident photons were produced by the recently upgraded Glasgow-Mainz photon tagging facility and im**ed on a cryogenic liquid hydrogen target, with the scattered photons detected in the Crystal Ball/TAPS set-up. Using the highest statistics Compton scattering data ever measured on the proton along with two effective field theories (both covariant baryon and heavy-baryon) and one fixed-$t$ dispersion relation model, constraining the fits with the Baldin sum rule, we have obtained the proton electric and magnetic polarizabilities with unprecedented precision: \begin{align*}

The product $\hat L = MD$ of two matrices $M=\|m_i^j\|$ and $D=\|\partial_i^j\|$ turns out to be a generating matrix of a modified Reflection Equation algebra $\hat{\cal L}(R)$ which is similar to the universal envelo** algebra $U(gl_N)$ in many aspects. Central elements of the modified Reflection Equation algebra give rise to $q$-Casimir operators in a representation of $\hat{\cal L}(R)$ in the algebra ${\cal M}(R)$.
We perform a spectral analysis of the first $q$-Casimir operator and formulate a conjecture about the spectrum of the higher ones. At last, we define the normal ordering for the $q$-differential operators and inroduce the $q$-cut-and-join operators. In several explicit examples we express some of $q$-cut-and-join operators via the $q$-Casimir ones by analogy with the classical case.

We show how a complete mathematical description of a complicated physical phenomenon can be learned from observational data via a hybrid approach combining three simple and general ingredients: physical assumptions of smoothness, locality, and symmetry, a weak formulation of differential equations, and sparse regression. To illustrate this, we extract a system of governing equations describing flows of incompressible Newtonian fluids -- the Navier-Stokes equation, the continuity equation, and the boundary conditions -- from numerical data describing a highly turbulent channel flow in three dimensions. These relations have the familiar form of partial differential equations, which are easily interpretable and readily provide information about the relative importance of different physical effects as well as insight into the quality of the data, serving as a useful diagnostic tool. The approach described here is remarkably robust, yielding accurate results for very high noise levels, and should thus be well-suited to experimental data.

In the case N=2 we extend the quantum partial derivatives from U(u(2)) (the compact form of the algebra U(gl(2))) on a bigger algebra, constructed in two steps. First, we define the derivatives on a central extension of this algebra, then we prolongate them on some elements of the corresponding skew-field by using the Cayley-Hamilton identities for certain matrices with noncommutative entries. Eventual applications of this differential calculus are discussed.

The double-polarization observable $E$ and helicity-dependent cross sections $σ_{1/2}$, $σ_{3/2}$ have been measured for the photoproduction of $π^0$ pairs off quasi-free protons and neutrons at the Mainz MAMI accelerator with the Crystal Ball/TAPS setup. A circularly polarized photon beam was produced by bremsstrahlung from longitudinally polarized electrons and im**ed on a longitudinally polarized deuterated butanol target. The reaction products were detected with an almost $4π$ covering calorimeter. The results reveal for the first time the helicity- and isospin-dependent structure of the $γN\rightarrow Nπ^0π^0$ reaction. They are compared to predictions from reaction models in view of nucleon resonance contributions and also to a refit of one model that predicted results for the proton and for the neutron target. The comparison of the prediction and the refit demonstrate the large impact of the new data.

We report a measurement of the spin polarisation of the recoiling neutron in deuterium photodisintegration, utilising a new large acceptance polarimeter within the Crystal Ball at MAMI. The measured photon energy range of 300~--~700~MeV provides the first measurement of recoil neutron polarisation at photon energies where the quark substructure of the deuteron plays a role, thereby providing important new constraints on photodisintegration mechanisms. A very high neutron polarisation in a narrow structure centred around $E_γ\sim$~570~MeV is observed, which is inconsistent with current theoretical predictions employing nucleon resonance degrees of freedom. A Legendre polynomial decomposition suggests this behaviour could be related to the excitation of the $d^*(2380)$ hexaquark.

Sparse regression has recently emerged as an attractive approach for discovering models of spatiotemporally complex dynamics directly from data. In many instances, such models are in the form of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs); hence sparse regression typically requires evaluation of various partial derivatives. However, accurate evaluation of derivatives, especially of high order, is infeasible when the data are noisy, which has a dramatic negative effect on the result of regression. We present a novel and rather general approach that addresses this difficulty by using a weak formulation of the problem. For instance, it allows accurate reconstruction of PDEs involving high-order derivatives, such as the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation, from data with a considerable amount of noise. The flexibility of our approach also allows reconstruction of PDE models that involve latent variables which cannot be measured directly with acceptable accuracy. This is illustrated by reconstructing a model for a weakly turbulent flow in a thin fluid layer, where neither the forcing nor the pressure field is known.

Our accumulation of 3.6 x 10^6 $γn \to π^0 n$ events allowed a detailed study of the reaction dynamics. Our data are in reasonable agreement with previous A2 measurements and extend them to lower energies. The data are compared to predictions of previous SAID, MAID, and BnGa partial-wave analyses and to the latest SAID fit MA19 that included our data. Selected photon decay amplitudes $N^* \to γn$ at the resonance poles are determined for the first time.

This paper investigates how models of spatiotemporal dynamics in the form of nonlinear partial differential equations can be identified directly from noisy data using a combination of sparse regression and weak formulation. Using the 4th-order Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation for illustration, we show how this approach can be optimized in the limits of low and high noise, achieving accuracy that is orders of magnitude better than what existing techniques allow. In particular, we derive the scaling relation between the accuracy of the model, the parameters of the weak formulation, and the properties of the data, such as its spatial and temporal resolution and the level of noise.

Also, we generalize the quantum integrable spin systems from [CFRS] by using generalized Yangians, related to couples of compatible braidings. We demonstrate that such quantum integrable spin systems are not uniquely determined by the "quantum coordinate ring" of the basic space V. For instance, the "quantum plane" xy=qyx gives rise to two different integrable systems: rational and trigonometric ones.

Being able to accurately reconstruct their position is thus quite important, even if the data are noisy and sparse, as in electrophysiology studies of cardiac arrhythmias, for instance. A recently proposed global topological approach [Marcotte & Grigoriev, Chaos 27, 093936 (2017)] promises to dramatically improve the quality of the reconstruction compared with traditional, local approaches. Indeed, we found that this approach is capable of handling noise levels exceeding the range of the signal with minimal loss of accuracy. Moreover, it also works successfully with data sampled on sparse grids with spacing comparable to the mean separation between the phase singularities for complex patterns featuring multiple interacting spiral waves.

On the base of this notion they defined certain quantum matrix algebras generalizing the RTT algebras and Reflection Equation ones. By using a similar approach we introduce certain new algebras called generalized Yangians and define analogs of some symmetric polynomials in these algebras. We claim that they commute with each other and thus generate a commutative Bethe subalgebra in each generalized Yangian. Besides, we define some analogs (also arising from couples of compatible braidings) of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation--classical and quantum.

In this paper we analyse its specific properties, which distinguish it from other quantum matrix algebras (in first turn, from the RTT one). Thus, we exhibit a specific form of the Cayley-Hamilton identity for its generating matrix, which in a limit turns into the Cayley-Hamilton identity for the generating matrix of the envelo** algebra U(gl(m)). Also, we consider some specific properties of the braided Yangians, recently introduced by the authors. In particular, we establish an analog of the Cayley-Hamilton identity for the generating matrix of such a braided Yangian. Besides, by passing to a limit of the braided Yangian, we get a Lie algebra similar to that entering the construction of the rational Gaudin model. In its envelo** algebra we construct a Bethe subalgebra by the method due to D.Talalaev.

Photoproduction of mesons off quasi-free nucleons bound in the deuteron allows to study the electromagnetic excitation spectrum of the neutron and the isospin structure of the excitation of nucleon resonances. The database for such reactions is much more sparse than for free proton targets. Single $π^0$ photoproduction off quasi-free nucleons from the deuteron was experimentally studied. Nuclear effects were investigated by a comparison of the results for free protons and quasi-free protons and used as a correction for the quasi-free neutron data. The experiment was performed at the tagged photon beam of the Mainz MAMI accelerator for photon energies between 0.45~GeV and 1.4~GeV, using an almost $4π$ electromagnetic calorimeter composed of the Crystal Ball and TAPS detectors. A complete kinematic reconstruction of the final state removed the effects of Fermi motion. Reaction model predictions and PWA for $γn\rightarrow nπ^{0}$, based on fits to data for the other isospin channels, disagreed between themselves and no model provided a good description of the new data. The results demonstrate clearly the importance of a measurement of the fully neutral final state for the isospin decomposition of the cross section. Model refits, for example from the Bonn-Gatchina analysis, show that the new and the previous data for the other three isospin channels can be simultaneously described when the contributions of several partial waves are modified. The results are also relevant for the suppression of the higher resonance bumps in total photoabsorption on nuclei, which are not well understood.

We consider the problem: whether it is so in certain RE-like algebras depending on spectral parameters. Mainly, we deal with algebras similar to those considered in \cite{RS} (we call them algebras of RS type). These algebras are defined by means of some current (i.e. depending on parameters) $R$-matrices arising from involutive and Hecke symmetries via the so-called Baxterization procedure. We define quantum power sums in the algebras of RS type and show that the lowest quantum power sum in such an algebra is central iff the value of the "charge" $c$ entering its definition is critical. We exhibit the dependance of this critical value on the bi-rank of the initial symmetry $R$. Besides, we show that if the bi-rank of $R$ is $(m|m)$, and the value of $c$ is critical, then all quantum power sums are central.

The generalized Yangians of second class, called the Yangians of RTT type, are defined by the same formulae as the usual Yangians are but with other quantum $R$-matrices. If such an $R$-matrix is the simplest trigonometrical $R$-matrix, the corresponding Yangian of RTT type is the so-called q-Yangian. We claim that each generalized Yangian is a deformation of the commutative algebra ${\rm Sym}(gl(m)[t^{-1}])$ provided that the corresponding $R$-matrix is a deformation of the flip. The so-called braided Yangians are close to the Reflection Equation algebras, arising from involutive or Hecke symmetries. The Yangians of RTT type are close to the corresponding RTT algebras. Some properties of these two classes of the Yangians are studied. Thus, evaluation morphisms for them are constructed, their bi-algebra structures are described, and quantum analogs of certain symmetric polynomials, in particular, quantum determinants, are introduced. It is shown that in any braided Yangian this determinant is always central, whereas in the Yangians of RTT type it is not in general so. Analogs of the Cayley-Hamilton-Newton identity in the braided Yangians are exhibited. A bozonization of the braided Yangians is performed.

In our previous publications we introduced differential calculus on the envelo** algebras U(gl(m)) similar to the usual calculus on the commutative algebra Sym(gl(m)). The main ingredient of our calculus are quantum partial derivatives which turn into the usual partial derivatives in the classical limit. In the particular case m=2 we prolonged this calculus on a central extension A of the algebra U(gl(2)). In the present paper we consider the problem of a further extension of the quantum partial derivatives on the skew-field of the algebra A and define the corresponding de Rham complex. As an application of the differential calculus we suggest a method of transferring dynamical models defined on Sym(u(2)) to the algebra U(u(2)) (we call this procedure the quantization with noncommutative configuration space). In this sense we quantize the Dirac monopole and find a solution of this model.

By using these derivatives we construct an analog of the de Rham complex on these algebras. Second, we discuss deformation property of some quantum algebras and show that contrary to a commonly held view, in the so-called q-Witt algebra there is no analog of the PBW theorem. In this connection, we discuss different forms of the Jacobi condition related to quadratic-linear algebras.

Motivated by this analogy, we realize a braiding of the mentioned Poisson structure, i.e. we introduce a "braided Poisson" algebra associated with an involutive solution to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation. Also, we exhibit another generalization of the Gaudin type Poisson structure by replacing the first derivative in the current parameter, entering the so-called local form of this structure, by a higher order derivative. Finally, we introduce a structure, which combines both generalizations. Some commutative families in the corresponding braided Poisson algebra are found.

In our previous publications we have introduced a differential calculus on the algebra $U(gl(m))$ based on a new form of the Leibniz rule which differs from that usually employed in Noncommutative Geometry. This differential calculus includes partial derivatives in generators of the algebra $U(gl(m))$ and their differentials. The orresponding differential algebra $Ω(U(gl(m)))$ is a deformation of the commutative algebra $Ω({\rm Sym}(gl(m)))$.A similar claim is valid for the Weyl algebra ${\cal W}(U(gl(m)))$ generated by the algebra $U(gl(m))$ and the mentioned partial derivatives. In the particular case $m=2$ we treat the compact form $U(u(2))$ of this algebra as a quantization of the Minkowski space algebra. Below we consider noncommutative versions of the Klein-Gordon equation and the Schrödinger equation for the hydrogen atom. We show that these quantum models become in a sense discrete. For the quantum Klein-Gordon model we get (under an assumption on momenta) an analog of the plane wave, for the quantum hydrogen atom model we find the first order corrections to the ground state energy and wave function.

We introduce the notion of a braided algebra and study some examples of these. In particular, R-symmetric and R-skew-symmetric algebras of a linear space V equipped with a skew-invertible Hecke symmetry R are braided algebras. We prove the "mountain property" for the numerators and denominators of their Poincare-Hilbert series (which are always rational functions).
Also, we further develop a differential calculus on modified Reflection Equation algebras. Thus, we exhibit a new form of the Leibniz rule for partial derivatives on such algebras related to involutive symmetries R. In particular, we present this rule for the algebra U(gl(m)). The case of the algebra U(gl(2)) and its compact form U(u(2)) (which can be treated as a deformation of the Minkowski space algebra) is considered in detail. On the algebra U(u(2)) we introduce the notion of the quantum radius, which is a deformation of the usual radius, and compute the action of rotationally invariant operators and in particular of the Laplace operator. This enables us to define analogs of the Laplace-Beltrami operators corresponding to certain Schwarzschild-type metrics and to compute their actions on the algebra U(u(2)) and its central extension. Some "physical" consequences of our considerations are presented.

On any Reflection Equation algebra corresponding to a skew-invertible Hecke symmetry (i.e. a special type solution of the Quantum Yang-Baxter Equation) we define analogs of the partial derivatives. Together with elements of the initial Reflection Equation algebra they generate a "braided analog" of the Weyl algebra. When $q\to 1$, the braided Weyl algebra corresponding to the Quantum Group $U_q(sl(2))$ goes to the Weyl algebra defined on the algebra $\Sym((u(2))$ or that $U(u(2))$ depending on the way of passing to the limit. Thus, we define partial derivatives on the algebra $U(u(2))$, find their "eigenfunctions", and introduce an analog of the Laplace operator on this algebra. Also, we define the "radial part" of this operator, express it in terms of "quantum eigenvalues", and sketch an analog of the de Rham complex on the algebra $U(u(2))$. Eventual applications of our approach are discussed.

Such a braided variety is called regular if there exists a projective module on it, which is a counterpart of the cotangent bundle on a generic orbit O in gl(m)* in the framework of the Serre approach. We give a criterium of regularity of a braided orbit in terms of roots of the Cayley-Hamilton identity valid for the generating matrix of the Reflection Equation Algebra in question. By specializing our general construction we get super-orbits in gl(m|n)* and a criterium of their regularity.

The main goal of this review is to compare different approaches to constructing geometry associated with a Hecke type braiding (in particular, with that related to the quantum group U_q(sl(n))). We make an emphasis on affine braided geometry related to the so-called Reflection Equation Algebra (REA). All objects of such type geometry are defined in the spirit of affine algebraic geometry via polynomial relations on generators.
We begin with comparing the Poisson counterparts of "quantum varieties" and describe different approaches to their quantization. Also, we exhibit two approaches to introducing q-analogs of vector bundles and defining the Chern-Connes index for them on quantum spheres. In accordance with the Serre-Swan approach, the q-vector bundles are treated as finitely generated projective modules over the corresponding quantum algebras.
Besides, we describe the basic properties of the REA used in this construction and compare different ways of defining q-analogs of partial derivatives and differentials on the REA and algebras close to them. In particular, we present a way of introducing a q-differential calculus via Koszul type complexes. The lements of the q-calculus are applied to defining q-analogs of some relativistic wave operators.
