aeon is a unified Python 3 library for all machine learning tasks involving time series. The package contains modules for time series forecasting, classification, extrinsic regression and clustering, as well as a variety of utilities, transformations and distance measures designed for time series data. aeon also has a number of experimental modules for tasks such as anomaly detection, similarity search and segmentation. aeon follows the scikit-learn API as much as possible to help new users and enable easy integration of aeon estimators with useful tools such as model selection and pipelines. It provides a broad library of time series algorithms, including efficient implementations of the very latest advances in research. Using a system of optional dependencies, aeon integrates a wide variety of packages into a single interface while kee** the core framework with minimal dependencies. The package is distributed under the 3-Clause BSD license and is available at https://github.com/ aeon-toolkit/aeon. This version was submitted to the JMLR journal on 02 Nov 2023 for v0.5.0 of aeon. At the time of this preprint aeon has released v0.9.0, and has had substantial changes.

Abstract:

For this purpose we develop a general framework about how to use problem structuring methods for such purposes. Conflict transformation and management are complex decision processes with extremely high stakes at hand and could greatly benefit from formal approaches to decision support. For this purpose we develop a general framework about how to use problem structuring methods for such purposes. More precisely we show how to transform cognitive maps to value trees in order to promote a more design-oriented approach to decision support aiming at constructing innovative solutions for conflict management purposes. We show that our findings have a much wider validity since they allow to move from a descriptive representation of a problem situation to a more prescriptive one using formal procedures and models.

Random Dilated Shapelet Transform: A New Approach for Time Series Shapelets
Authors:

Abstract:
Shapelet-based algorithms are widely used for time series classification because of their ease of interpretation, but they are currently outperformed by recent state-of-the-art approaches. We present a new formulation of time series shapelets including the notion of dilation, and we introduce a new shapelet feature to enhance their discriminative power for classification. Experiments performed on…

We present a new formulation of time series shapelets including the notion of dilation, and we introduce a new shapelet feature to enhance their discriminative power for classification. Experiments performed on 112 datasets show that our method improves on the state-of-the-art shapelet algorithm, and achieves comparable accuracy to recent state-of-the-art approaches, without sacrificing neither scalability, nor interpretability.

Predictive maintenance is used in industrial applications to increase machine availability and optimize cost related to unplanned maintenance. In most cases, predictive maintenance applications use output from sensors, recording physical phenomenons such as temperature or vibration which can be directly linked to the degradation process of the machine. However, in some applications, outputs from sensors are not available, and event logs generated by the machine are used instead. We first study the approaches used in the literature to solve predictive maintenance problems and present a new public dataset containing the event logs from 156 machines. After this, we define an evaluation framework for predictive maintenance systems, which takes into account business constraints, and conduct experiments to explore suitable solutions, which can serve as guidelines for future works using this new dataset.

Upward-closed hereditary families in the dominance order
Authors:

Abstract:
The majorization relation orders the degree sequences of simple graphs into posets called dominance orders. As shown by Ruch and Gutman (1979) and Merris (2002), the degree sequences of threshold and split graphs form upward-closed sets within the dominance orders they belong to, i.e., any degree sequence majorizing a split or threshold sequence must itself be split or threshold, respectively. Motivated by the fact that threshold graphs and split graphs have characterizations in terms of forbidden induced subgraphs, we define a class $\mathcal{F}$ of graphs to be dominance monotone if whenever no realization of $e$ contains an element $\mathcal{F}$ as an induced subgraph, and $d$ majorizes $e$, then no realization of $d$ induces an element of $\mathcal{F}$. We present conditions necessary for a set of graphs to be dominance monotone, and we identify the dominance monotone sets of order at most 3.

Abstract:
We have fabricated a single Cooper-pair box (SCB) in close proximity to a single electron transistor (SET) operated in the radio-frequency mode (RF-SET) with an inductor and capacitor lithographed directly on chip. The RF-SET was used to measure the charge state of the SCB revealing a 2e periodic charge quantization. We performed spectroscopy measurements to extract the charging energy (EC) and…

The RF-SET was used to measure the charge state of the SCB revealing a 2e periodic charge quantization. We performed spectroscopy measurements to extract the charging energy (EC) and the Josephson coupling energy (EJ). Control of the temporal evolution of the quantum charge state was achieved by applying fast DC pulses to the SCB gate. The dephasing and relaxation times were extracted from these measurements
