Non-expanding Plebanski-Demianski space-times
Abstract: The aim of this work is to describe the complete family of non-expanding Plebanski-Demianski type D space-times and to present their possible interpretation. We explicitly express the most general form of such (electro)vacuum solutions with any cosmological constant, and we investigate the geometrical and physical meaning of the seven parameters they contain. We present various metric forms, and b… ▽ More

Cylindrically and toroidally symmetric solutions with a cosmological constant
Abstract: Cylindrical-like coordinates for constant-curvature 3-spaces are introduced and discussed. This helps to clarify the geometrical properties, the coordinate ranges and the meaning of free parameters in the static vacuum solution of Linet and Tian. In particular, when the cosmological constant is positive, the spacetimes have toroidal symmetry. One of the two curvature singularities can be removed b… ▽ More

A rotating cylinder in an asymptotically locally anti-de Sitter background
Abstract: A family of exact solutions is presented which represents a rigidly rotating cylinder of dust in a background with a negative cosmological constant. The interior of the infinite cylinder is described by the Godel solution. An exact solution for the exterior solution is found which depends both on the rotation of the interior and on its radius. The Linet-Tian solution with a positive cosmological constant in four and higher dimensions
Abstract: The static, apparently cylindrically symmetric vacuum solution of Linet and Tian for the case of a positive cosmological constant $Λ$ is shown to have toroidal symmetry and, besides $Λ$, to include three arbitrary parameters. It possesses two curvature singularities, of which one can be removed by matching it across a toroidal surface to a corresponding region of the dust-filled Einstein static… ▽ More

On the parameters of the Kerr-NUT-(anti-)de Sitter space-time
Abstract: Different forms of the metric for the Kerr-NUT-(anti-)de Sitter space-time are being widely used in its extension to higher dimensions. The purpose of this note is to relate the parameters that are being used to the physical parameters (mass, rotation, NUT and cosmological constant) in the basic four dimensional situation.

The C-metric as a colliding plane wave space-time
Abstract: It is explicitly shown that part of the C-metric space-time inside the black hole horizon may be interpreted as the interaction region of two colliding plane waves with aligned linear polarization, provided the rotational coordinate is replaced by a linear one. This is a one-parameter generalization of the degenerate Ferrari-Ibanez solution in which the focussing singularity is a Cauchy horizon… ▽ More

Abstract: The basic properties of the C-metric are well known. It describes a pair of causally separated black holes which accelerate in opposite directions under the action of forces represented by conical singularities. Accelerating Kerr-Newman black holes in (anti-)de Sitter space-time
Abstract: A class of exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations is presented which describes an accelerating and rotating charged black hole in an asymptotically de Sitter or anti-de Sitter universe. The metric is presented in a new and convenient form in which the meaning of the parameters is clearly identified, and from which the physical properties of the solution can readily be interpreted.
