Genus Comparisons in the Topological Analysis of RNA Structures
Abstract: RNA folding prediction remains challenging, but can be also studied using a topological mathematical approach. In the present paper, the mathematical method to compute the topological classification of RNA structures and based on matrix field theory is shortly reviewed, as well as a computational software, McGenus, used for topological and folding predictions. Additionally, two types of analysis a… ▽ More

Effect of Cold Sintering Process (CSP) on the Electro-Chemo-Mechanical Properties of Gd-doped Ceria (GDC)
Abstract: In this report, the effect of the cold sintering process (CSP) on the electro-chemo-mechanical properties of 10 mol% Gd-doped ceria (GDC) is investigated. High purity nanoscale GDC powder is sintered via a cold sintering process (CSP) in pure water followed by post-annealing at 1000 °C. The resultant CSP ceramics exhibits high relative density (~92%) with an ultrafine grain size of ~100 nm. This s… ▽ More

Proper identification of variable star V683 Cas
Abstract: Investigation on the object reported by SIMBAD database as V683 Cas shows that this variable star corresponds to the eclipsing binary system GSC 03699-00091 (also identified as NSVS 1850718). The results of the photometric observations of the stars nearby to the position indicated for V683 Cas are reported.

The Physics of baking good Pizza
Abstract: Physical principles are involved in almost any aspect of cooking. Here we analyze the specific process of baking pizzas, deriving in simple terms the baking times for two different situations: For a brick oven in a pizzeria and a modern metallic oven at home. Our study is based on basic thermodynamic principles relevant to the cooking process and is accessible to undergraduate students. We start w… ▽ More
