The apparent excess in the Higgs to di-photon rate at the LHC: New Physics or QCD uncertainties?
Abstract: The Higgs boson with a mass $M_H \approx 126$ GeV has been observed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC and a total significance of about five standard deviations has been reported by both collaborations when the channels $H\to γγ$ and $H\to ZZ \to 4\ell$ are combined. Nevertheless, while the rates in the later search channel appear to be in accord with those predicted in the Standard Mode… ▽ More

Large mass splittings for fourth generation fermions allowed by LHC Higgs exclusion
Abstract: In the context of the Standard model with a fourth generation, we explore the allowed mass spectra in the fourth generation quark and lepton sectors as functions of the Higgs mass. Using the constraints from unitarity and oblique parameters, we show that a heavy Higgs allows large mass splittings in these sectors, opening up new decay channels involving W emission. A Higgs heavier than… ▽ More

Azimuthal Angle Probe of Anomalous HWW Couplings at the LHeC
Abstract: A high energy ep collider, such as the proposed LHeC, possesses the unique facility of permitting direct measurement of the HWW coupling without contamination from the HZZ coupling. At such a machine, the fusion of two W bosons through the HWW vertex would give rise to typical charged current (CC) events accompanied by a Higgs boson. We demonstrate that azimuthal angle correlations between the obs… ▽ More

Top polarisation studies in $H^-t$ and $Wt$ production
Abstract: The polarisation of top quarks produced in high energy processes can be a very sensitive probe of physics beyond the Standard Model. The kinematical distributions of the decay products of the top quark can provide clean information on the polarisation of the produced top and thus can probe new physics effects in the top quark sector. Abstract: One of the main endeavors at future high-energy colliders is the search for the Higgs boson(s) and, once found, the probe of the fundamental properties. In particular, the charge conjugation and parity (CP) quantum numbers have to be determined. We show that these are unambiguously accessible at future $e^+e^-$ colliders through the measurement of the total cross section and the top polarization… ▽ More

Total cross-section and rapidity gap survival probability at the LHC through an eikonal with soft gluon resummation
Abstract: New results are presented for total ${\rm pp}/ {\rm \bar p p}$ cross-sections, in the framework of our QCD based model (GGPS). This is an improved eikonal mini-jet model, where soft gluon radiation tames the fast energy rise normally present in mini-jet models. We discuss the variability in our predictions and provide a handy parametrization of our results for the LHC. We find that our model pre… ▽ More

CP Asymmetries in Higgs decays to ZZ at the LHC
Abstract: We examine the effect of a general HZZ coupling through a study of the Higgs decay to leptons via Z bosons at the LHC. We discuss various methods for placing limits on additional couplings, including measurement of the partial width, threshold scans, and asymmetries constructed from angular observables. We find that only the asymmetries provide a definitive test of additional couplings. We furth… ▽ More

Aspects of CP violation in the HZZ coupling at the LHC
Abstract: We examine the CP-conserving (CPC) and CP-violating (CPV) effects of a general HZZ coupling through a study of the process H -> ZZ* -> 4 leptons at the LHC. We construct asymmetries that directly probe these couplings. Further, we present complete analytical formulae for the angular distributions of the decay leptons and for some of the asymmetries. Using these we have been able to identify new… ▽ More

Determining the CP properties of the Higgs boson
Abstract: The search and the probe of the fundamental properties of Higgs boson(s) and, in particular, the determination of their charge conjugation and parity (CP) quantum numbers, is one of the main tasks of future high-energy colliders. We demonstrate that the CP properties of a Standard Model-like Higgs particle can be unambiguously assessed by measuring just the total cross section and the top polari… ▽ More

Top production at the Tevatron/LHC and nonstandard, strongly interacting spin one particles
Abstract: In this note, we consider possible constraints from $t \bar t$ production on the gauge bosons of theories with an extended strong interaction sector such as axigluons or flavour universal colorons. Such constraints are found to be competitive with those obtained from the dijet data. The current $t \bar t$ data from the Tevatron rule out axigluon masses ($m_A$) up to 900 GeV and 850 GeV at 2 $σ$… ▽ More

Total cross-section at LHC from minijets and soft gluon resummation in the infrared region
Abstract: A model for total cross-sections incorporating QCD jet cross-sections and soft gluon resummation is described and compared with present data on $pp$ and ${\bar p}p$ cross-sections. Predictions for LHC are presented for different parameter sets. It is shown that they differ according to the small x-behaviour of available parton density functions.

Fermion Electric Dipole Moments in R-parity violating Supersymmetry
Abstract: In this talk I discuss some aspects of the study of electric dipole moments (EDMs) of the fermions, in the context of R-parity violating (\rpv) Supersymmetry (SUSY). I will start with a brief general discussion of how dipole moments, in general, serve as a probe of physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) and an even briefer summary of \rpv SUSY. I will follow by discussing a general method of ana… ▽ More

Moderately light charged Higgs in \cp MSSM and NMSSM
Abstract: In this talk I discuss some aspects of the phenomenology of a moderately light charged Higgs ($H^\pm$) with a mass $\gts 130$ GeV, lighter than the top quark, at the LHC. A charged Higgs in this mass range is still allowed in next-to-minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM) at low $\tan β$ as well as in CP-violating (\cp) Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) for a certain choice of… ▽ More

Graviton Resonances in E+ E- -> MU+ MU- at Linear Colliders with Beamstrahlung and ISR Effects
Abstract: Electromagnetic radiation emitted by the colliding beams is expected to play an important role at the next generation of high energy e^+ e^- linear collider(s). Focusing on the simplest process e+e- -> mu+ mu-, we show that radiative effects like initial state radiation (ISR) and beamstrahlung can lead to greatly-enhanced signals for resonant graviton modes of the Randall-Sundrum model.

Probing CP-violating Higgs contributions in gamma-gamma -> f anti-f through fermion polarization
Abstract: We discuss the use of fermion polarization for studying neutral Higgs bosons at a photon collider. To this aim we construct polarization asymmetries which can isolate the contribution of a Higgs boson $φ$ in $γγ\to f \bar f$, $f=τ/t$, from that of the QED continuum. This can help in getting information on the $γγφ$ coupling in case $φ$ is a CP eigenstate. We also construct CP-violating asymmetri… ▽ More
