Abstract:
We present an overview of the approach to establish a lower bound to the ground state energy for the dilute, interacting Bose gas in a periodic box. In this paper the size of the box is larger than the Gross-Pitaevski length scale. The presentation includes both the 2 and 3 dimensional cases, and catches the second order correction, i.e. the Lee-Huang-Yang term. The calculation on a box of this le…

The calculation on a box of this length scale is the main step to calculate the energy in the thermodynamic limit. However, the periodic boundary condition simplifies many steps of the argument considerably compared to the localized problem coming from the thermodynamic case.

Abstract:
We derive a Pauli exclusion principle for extended fermion-based anyons of any positive radius and any non-trivial statistics parameter. That is, we consider 2D fermionic particles coupled to magnetic flux tubes of non-zero radius, and prove a Lieb-Thirring inequality for the corresponding many-body kinetic energy operator. The implied constant is independent of the radius of the flux tubes, and p…

Abstract:
We prove the following formula for the ground state energy density of a dilute Bose gas with density $ρ$ in $2$ dimensions in the thermodynamic limit \begin{align*} e^{\rm{2D}}(ρ) = 4πρ^2 Y\left(1 - Y \vert \log Y \vert + \left( 2Γ+ \frac{1}{2} + \log(π) \right) Y \right) + o(ρ^2 Y^{2}). \end{align*} Here $Y= |\log(ρa^2)|^{-1}$ and $a$ is the scattering length of the two-body potential. This resul…

This result in $2$ dimensions corresponds to the famous Lee-Huang-Yang formula in $3$ dimensions. The proof is valid for essentially all positive potentials with finite scattering length, in particular it covers the crucial case of the hard core potential.

In two-dimensional space there are possibilities for quantum statistics continuously interpolating between the bosonic and the fermionic one. Quasi-particles obeying such statistics can be described as ordinary bosons and fermions with magnetic interactions. We study a limit situation where the statistics/magnetic interaction is seen as a "perturbation from the fermionic end". We vindicate a mean-field approximation, proving that the ground state of a gas of anyons is described to leading order by a semi-classical, Vlasov-like, energy functional. The ground state of the latter displays anyonic behavior in its momentum distribution. Our proof is based on coherent states, Husimi functions, the Diaconis-Freedman theorem and a quantitative version of a semi-classical Pauli pinciple.

We study the ground state of a large number N of 2D anyons in an external magnetic field. We consider a scaling limit where the statistics parameter $α$ tends to zero when N tends to infinity which allows the statistics to be seen as a "perturbation from the bosonic end". Our model is that of bosons in a magnetic field and interacting through long-range magnetic potential generated by magnetic charges carried by each particle, smeared over discs of radius R. Our method allows to take R tends to not too fast at the same time as N tends to infinity. We use the information theoretic version of the de Finetti theorem of Brand{ã}o and Harrow to justify the so-called "average field approximation": the particles behave like independent, identically distributed bosons interacting via a self-consistent magnetic field.
