In vitro to in vivo extrapolation represents a critical challenge in toxicology. In this paper we explore extrapolation strategies for acetaminophen (APAP) based on mechanistic models, comparing classical homogeneous compartment pharmaco-dynamic (PD) models and a multiscale digital twin model resolving liver microarchitecture at cellular resolution. The models integrate consensus detoxification reactions in each individual hepatocyte. We study the consequences of the two model types on the extrapolation and show in which cases these models perform better than the classical extrapolation strategy that is based either on the maximal drug concentration (Cmax) or the area under the pharmaco-kinetic curve (AUC) of the drug blood concentration.

Negative imaginary (NI) systems theory is a well-established system theoretic framework for analysis and design of linear-time-invariant (LTI) control systems. In this paper, we aim to generalize negative imaginary systems theory to a class of nonlinear systems. Based on the time domain interpretation of the NI property for LTI systems, a formal definition in terms of a dissipativity with an appropriate work rate will be used to define the nonlinear negative imaginary (NNI) property for a general nonlinear system. Mechanical systems with force actuators and position sensors are nonlinear negative imaginary according to this new definition. Using Lyapunov stability theory, we seek to establish a nonlinear generalization of the NI robust stability result for positive feedback interconnections of NNI systems. An example of a nonlinear mass-spring-damper system with force as input and displacement of the mass as output will be presented to illustrate the applicability of the NNI stability result. Furthermore, the case of NI systems with free motion will be investigated in the nonlinear domain based on the dissipativity framework of NNI systems.

Test smells are defined as sub-optimal design choices developers make when implementing test cases. Hence, similar to code smells, the research community has produced numerous test smell detection tools to investigate the impact of test smells on the quality and maintenance of test suites. However, little is known about the characteristics, type of smells, target language, and availability of these published tools. In this paper, we provide a detailed catalog of all known, peer-reviewed, test smell detection tools.
We start with performing a comprehensive search of peer-reviewed scientific publications to construct a catalog of 22 tools. Then, we perform a comparative analysis to identify the smell types detected by each tool and other salient features that include programming language, testing framework support, detection strategy, and adoption, among others. From our findings, we discover tools that detect test smells in Java, Scala, Smalltalk, and C++ test suites, with Java support favored by most tools. These tools are available as command-line and IDE plugins, among others. Our analysis also shows that most tools overlap in detecting specific smell types, such as General Fixture. Further, we encounter four types of techniques these tools utilize to detect smells. We envision our study as a one-stop source for researchers and practitioners in determining the tool appropriate for their needs. Our findings also empower the community with information to guide future tool development.

In this paper, we propose a new approach to the attitude control of quadrotors, by which angular velocity measurements or a model-based observer reconstructing the angular velocity are not needed. The proposed approach is based on recent stability results obtained for nonlinear negative imaginary systems. In specific, by constructing the respective storage functions, we establish the nonlinear negative imaginary properties of the whole quadrotor system and the quadrotor rotational subsystem. Then, an inner-outer loop method will be implemented to synthesize a strictly negative imaginary controller. This guarantees the robust asymptotic stability of the attitude of the quadrotor about its reference signal in the face of modeling uncertainties and external disturbances.

Animal hair examination at a criminal scene may provide valuable information in forensic investigations. However, local reference databases for animal hair identification are rare. In the present study, we provide differential histological analysis of hair of some domestic animals in Upper Egypt. For this purpose, guard hair of large ruminants (buffalo, camel and cow), small ruminants (sheep and goat), equine (horse and donkey) and canine (dog and cat) were collected and comparative analysis was performed by light microscopy. Based on the hair cuticle scale pattern, type and diameter of the medulla, and the pigmentation, characteristic differential features of each animal species were identified. The cuticle scale pattern was imbricate in all tested animals except in donkey, in which coronal scales were identified. The cuticle scale margin type, shape and the distance in between were characteristic for each animal species. The hair medulla was continuous in most of the tested animal species with the exception of sheep, in which fragmental medulla was detected. The diameter of the hair medulla and the margins differ according to the animal species. Hair shaft pigmentation were not detected in all tested animals with the exception of camel and buffalo, in which granules and streak-like pigmentation were detected. In conclusion, the present study provides a first-step towards preparation of a complete local reference database for animal hair identification that can be used in forensic investigations.

Abstract:
In this article, we investigate the method of upper and lower solutions for Volterra integral equation of the first kind on arbitrary time scale $\mathbb{T}$. We establish some existence results in a certain sector. Moreover, monotone iterative technique is used to obtain maximal and minimal solutions of the considered equation.

Abstract:
In this paper, we study Hyers-Ulam stability for integral equation of Volterra type in time scale setting. Moreover we study the stability of the considered equation in Hyers-Ulam-Rassias sense. Our technique depends on successive approximation method, and we use time scale variant of induction principle to show that equation (1.1) is stable on unbounded domains in Hyers-Ulam-Rassias sense.

Feedback control systems using sensors and actuators such as piezoelectric sensors and actuators, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) sensors and opto-mechanical sensors, are allowing new advances in designing such high precision technologies. The negative imaginary control systems framework allows for robust control design for such high precision systems in the face of uncertainties due to un modelled dynamics. The stability of the feedback interconnection of negative imaginary systems has been well established in the literature. However, the proofs of stability feedback interconnection which are used in some previous papers have a shortcoming due to a matrix inevitability issue. In this paper we provide a new and correct Lyapunobv-based proof of one such result and show that the result is still true.

Abstract:
In this paper we study well posedness of a certain nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm dynamic integral and integro-dynamic equations on unbounded interval from arbitrary time scale. We derive the time scale analogue of certain integral inequalities of Pachpatte type and using them with Banach's fixed-point theorem to establish the results.
