We present a quantum version of the vacuum Bianchi IX model by implementing affine coherent state quantization combined with a Born-Oppenheimer-like adiabatic approximation. The analytical treatment is carried out on both quantum and semiclassical levels. The resolution of the classical singularity occurs by means of a repulsive potential generated by our quantization procedure. The quantization of the oscillatory degrees of freedom produces a radiation energy density term in the semiclassical constraint equation. The Friedmann-like lowest energy eigenstates of the system are found to be dynamically stable.

The first one derives from the q-exponential as a generating function. The second one involves the modified Abel polynomials, and the third one involves Hermite polynomials. The paper is devoted to integral quantization, a procedure based on operator-valued measure and resolution of the identity. We insist on covariance properties in the important case where group representation theory is involved. We also insist on the inherent probabilistic aspects of this classical-quantum map. The approach includes and generalizes coherent state quantization. Two applications based on group representation are carried out. The first one concerns the Weyl-Heisenberg group and the euclidean plane viewed as the corresponding phase space. We show that there exists a world of quantizations which yield the canonical commutation rule and the usual quantum spectrum of the harmonic oscillator. The second one concerns the affine group of the real line and gives rise to an interesting regularization of the dilation origin in the half-plane viewed as the corresponding phase space.

We consider the Robertson-Walker metric coupled to a perfect fluid. It is the simplest model of a gravitational collapse and the results obtained here may serve as a useful starting point for more complex investigations in future. We follow a quantization procedure based on affine coherent states or wavelets built from the unitary irreducible representation of the affine group of the real line with positive dilation. The main issue of our approach is the appearance of a quantum centrifugal potential allowing for regularization of the singularity, essential self-adjointness of the Hamiltonian, and unambiguous quantum dynamical evolution.

In this paper we study quantum dynamics of the bouncing cosmological model. We focus on the model of the flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker universe with a free scalar field. The bouncing behavior, which replaces classical singularity, appears due to the modification of general relativity along the methods of loop quantum cosmology. We show that there exist a unitary transformation that enables to describe the system as a free particle with Hamiltonian equal to canonical momentum. We examine properties of the various quantum states of the Universe: boxcar state, standard coherent state, and soliton-like state, as well as Schr{ö}dinger's cat states constructed from these states. Characteristics of the states such as quantum moments and Wigner functions are investigated. We show that each of these states have, for some range of parameters, a proper semiclassical limit fulfilling the correspondence principle. Decoherence of the superposition of two universes is described and possible interpretations in terms of triad orientation and Belinsky-Khalatnikov-Lifshitz conjecture are given. Some interesting features regarding the area of the negative part of the Wigner function have emerged.

For a single degree of freedom confined mechanical system with given energy, we know that the motion is always periodic and action-angle variables are convenient choice as conjugate phase-space variables. We construct action-angle coherent states in view to provide a quantization scheme that yields precisely a given observed energy spectrum ${E_n}$ for such a system. This construction is based on a Bayesian approach: each family corresponds to a choice of probability distributions such that the classical energy averaged with respect to this probability distribution is precisely $E_n$ up to a constant shift. The formalism is viewed as a natural extension of the Bohr-Sommerfeld rule and an alternative to the canonical quantization. In particular, it also yields a satisfactory angle operator as a bounded self-adjoint operator.

We investigate the consistency of coherent state (or Berezin-Klauder-Toeplitz, or anti-Wick) quantization in regard to physical observations in the non- relativistic (or Galilean) regime. We compare this procedure with the canonical quantization (on both mathematical and physical levels) and examine whether they are or not equivalent in their predictions: is it possible to dif- ferentiate them on a strictly physical level? As far as only usual dynamical observables (position, momentum, energy, ...) are concerned, the quantization through coherent states is proved to be a perfectly valid alternative. We successfully put to the test the validity of CS quantization in the case of data obtained from vibrational spectroscopy (data that allowed to validate canonical quantization in the early period of Quantum Mechanics).

Experimental evidences and theoretical motivations lead to consider the curved space-time relativity based on the de Sitter group $SO_0(1,4)$ or $Sp(2,2)$ as an appealing substitute to the flat space-time Poincare relativity. Quantum elementary systems are then associated to unitary irreducible representations of that simple Lie group. At the lowest limit of the discrete series lies a remarkable family of scalar representations involving Krein structures and related undecomposable representation cohomology which deserves to be thoroughly studied in view of quantization of the corresponding carrier fields. The purpose of this note is to present the mathematical material needed to examine the problem and to indicate possible extensions of an exemplary case, namely the so-called de Sitterian massless minimally coupled field, i.e. a scalar field in de Sitter space-time which does not couple to the Ricci curvature.

It is known that the anti-Wick (or standard coherent state) quantization of the complex plane produces both canonical commutation rule and quantum spectrum of the harmonic oscillator (up to the addition of a constant). In the present work, we show that these two issues are not necessarily coupled: there exists a family of separable Hilbert spaces, including the usual Fock-Bargmann space, and in each element in this family there exists an overcomplete set of unit-norm states resolving the unity. With the exception of the Fock-Bargmann case, they all produce non-canonical commutation relation whereas the quantum spectrum of the harmonic oscillator remains the same up to the addition of a constant. The statistical aspects of these non-equivalent coherent states quantizations are investigated. We also explore the localization aspects in the real line yielded by similar quantizations based on real Hermite polynomials.

A non-commutative structure for de Sitter spacetime is naturally introduced by replacing ("fuzzyfication") the classical variables of the bulk in terms of the dS analogs of the Pauli-Lubanski operators. The dimensionality of the fuzzy variables is determined by a Compton length and the commutative limit is recovered for distances much larger than the Compton distance. The choice of the Compton length determines different scenarios. In scenario I the Compton length is determined by the limiting Minkowski spacetime. A fuzzy dS in scenario I implies a lower bound (of the order of the Hubble mass) for the observed masses of all massive particles (including massive neutrinos) of spin s>0. In scenario II the Compton length is fixed in the de Sitter spacetime itself and grossly determines the number of finite elements ("pixels" or "granularity") of a de Sitter spacetime of a given curvature.

Over the last ten years interest in the physics of de Sitter spacetime has been growing very fast. Besides the supposed existence of a "de sitterian period" in inflation theories, the observational evidence of an acceleration of the universe expansion (interpreted as a positive cosmological constant or a "dark energy" or some form of "quintessence") has triggered a lot of attention in the physics community. A specific de sitterian field called "massless minimally coupled field" (mmc) plays a fundamental role in inflation models and in the construction of the de sitterian gravitational field. A covariant quantization of the mmc field, `a la Krein-Gupta-Bleuler was proposed in [1]. In this talk, we will review this construction and explain the relevance of such a field in the construction of a massless spin 2 field in de Sitter space-time.

The Berezin-Klauder-Toeplitz ("anti-Wick") quantization or "non-commutative reading" of the complex plane, viewed as the phase space of a particle moving on the line, is derived from the resolution of the unity provided by the standard (or gaussian) coherent states. The construction properties of these states and their attractive properties are essentially based on the energy spectrum of the harmonic oscillator, that is on the natural numbers. This work is an attempt for following the same path by considering sequences of non-negative numbers which are not "too far" from the natural numbers. In particular, we examine the consequences of such perturbations on the non-commutative reading of the complex plane in terms of its probabilistic, functional, and localization aspects.

The spectrum of a weighted Dirac comb on the Thue-Morse quasicrystal is investigated, and characterized up to a measure zero set, by means of the Bombieri-Taylor conjecture, for Bragg peaks, and of another conjecture that we call Aubry-Godrèche-Luck conjecture, for the singular continuous component. The decomposition of the Fourier transform of the weighted Dirac comb is obtained in terms of tempered distributions. We show that the asymptotic arithmetics of the $p$-rarefied sums of the Thue-Morse sequence (Dumont; Goldstein, Kelly and Speer; Grabner; Drmota and Skalba,...), namely the fractality of sum-of-digits functions, play a fundamental role in the description of the singular continous part of the spectrum, combined with some classical results on Riesz products of Peyrière and M. Queffélec. The dominant scaling of the sequences of approximant measures on a part of the singular component is controlled by certain inequalities in which are involved the class number and the regulator of real quadratic fields.

We demonstrate how large classes of discrete and continuous statistical distributions can be incorporated into coherent states, using the concept of a reproducing kernel Hilbert space. Each family of coherent states is shown to contain, in a sort of duality, which resembles an analogous duality in Bayesian statistics, a discrete probability distribution and a discretely parametrized family of continuous distributions. It turns out that nonlinear coherent states, of the type widely studied in quantum optics, are a particularly useful class of coherent states from this point of view, in that they contain many of the standard statistical distributions. We also look at vector coherent states and multidimensional coherent states as carriers of mixtures of probability distributions and joint probability distributions.

The use of a finite tight frame may lead to a simpler description of the symmetry transformations, to a simpler and more symmetric form of invariants or to the possibility to define new mathematical objects with physical meaning, particularly in regard with the notion of a quantization of a finite set. We present some results concerning the use of integer coefficients and frame quantization, several examples and suggest some possible applications.

In quasicrystalline studies $β$-integers supersede the ``crystallographic'' ordinary integers. When the number $β$ is a Parry number, the corresponding $β$-integers realize only a finite number of distances between consecutive elements and somewhat appear like ordinary integers, mainly in an asymptotic sense. In this letter we make precise this asymptotic behavior by proving four theorems concerning Parry $β$-integers.

Abstract:
A construction of the 2d and 4d fuzzy de Sitter hyperboloids is carried out by using a (vector) coherent state quantization. We get a natural discretization of the dS "time" axis based on the spectrum of Casimir operators of the respective maximal compact subgroups SO(2) and SO(4) of the de Sitter groups SO\_0(1,2) and SO\_0(1,4). The continuous limit at infinite spins is examined.

We present a new procedure which allows a coherent state (CS) quantization of any set with a measure. It is manifest through the replacement of classical observables by CS quantum observables, which acts on a Hilbert space of prescribed dimension $N$. The algebra of CS quantum observables has the finite dimension $N^2$. The application to the 2-sphere provides a family of inequivalent CS quantizations, based on the spin spherical harmonics (the CS quantization from usual spherical harmonics appears to give a trivial issue for the cartesian coordinates). We compare these CS quantizations to the usual (Madore) construction of the fuzzy sphere. The difference allows us to consider our procedures as the constructions of new type of fuzzy spheres. The very general character of our method suggests applications to construct fuzzy versions of a variety of sets.

The existence of a non-zero cosmological constant $Λ$ gives rise to controversial interpretations. Is $Λ$ a universal constant fixing the geometry of an empty universe, as fundamental as the Planck constant or the speed of light in the vacuum? Its natural place is then on the left-hand side of the Einstein equation. Is it instead something emerging from a perturbative calculus performed on the metric $g\_{μν}$ solution of the Einstein equation and to which it might be given a material status of (dark or bright) "energy"? It should then be part of the content of the right-hand side of the Einstein equations. The purpose of this paper is not to elucidate the fundamental nature of $Λ$, but instead we aim to present and discuss some of the arguments in favor of both interpretations of the cosmological constant. We conclude that if the fundamental of the geometry of space-time is minkowskian, then the square of the mass of the graviton is proportional to $Λ$; otherwise, if the fundamental state is deSitter/AdS, then the graviton is massless in the deSitterian sense.

In the present work the massless vector field in the de Sitter (dS) space has been quantized. "Massless" is used here by reference to conformal invariance and propagation on the dS light-cone whereas "massive" refers to those dS fields which contract at zero curvature unambiguously to massive fields in Minkowski space. Due to the gauge invariance of the massless vector field, its covariant quantization requires an indecomposable representation of the de Sitter group and an indefinite metric quantization. We will work with a specific gauge fixing which leads to the simplest one among all possible related Gupta-Bleuler structures. The field operator will be defined with the help of coordinate independent de Sitter waves (the modes) which are simple to manipulate and most adapted to group theoretical matters. The physical states characterized by the divergencelessness condition will for instance be easy to identify. The whole construction is based on analyticity requirements in the complexified pseudo-Riemanian manifold for the modes and the two-point function.

The spectra of position and momentum operators are finite and eigenvalues are equal, up to a factor, to the zeros of Hermite polynomials. From numerical and theoretical studies of the large $N$ behavior of the product $λ\_m(N) λ\_M(N)$ of non null smallest positive and largest eigenvalues, we infer the inequality $δ\_N(Q) Δ\_N(Q) = σ\_N \overset{<}{\underset{N \to \infty}{\to}} 2 π$ (resp. $δ\_N(P) Δ\_N(P) = σ\_N \overset{<}{\underset{N \to \infty}{\to}} 2 π$) involving, in suitable units, the minimal ($δ\_N(Q)$) and maximal ($Δ\_N(Q)$) sizes of regions of space (resp. momentum) which are accessible to exploration within this finite-dimensional quantum framework. Interesting issues on the measurement process and connections with the finite Chern-Simons matrix model for the Quantum Hall effect are discussed.

Corresponding tilings are determined by two-letter Sturmian substitution sequences. We illustrate the construction with examples having quadratic Pisot-Vijayaraghavan units (like tau = (1 + sqrt{5})/2 or tau^2 = (3 + sqrt{5})/2) as scaling factor. In particular, we present a comprehensive analysis of the Fibonacci chain and give the analytic form of related scaling functions and wavelets as splines of second order. We also give some hints for the construction of multidimensional spline wavelets based on stone-inflation tilings in arbitrary dimension.

Quantization with coherent states allows to " quantize " any space X of parameters. In the case where X is a phase space, this leads to the usual quantum mechanics. But the procedure is much more general, and does not require a symplectic, or any kind of structure in X, other than a measure. It is simply considered as a different way to look at the system, the choice of a resolution, in analogy with data handling, where coherent states (e.g., under the form of wavelets) are very efficient.
Here, we present the complex coherent states quantization of the 2-sphere, with emphasis on the links with group representation. We show how this procedure leads naturally to the fuzzy sphere and to non commutative geometry.
