The Protvino accelerator facility located in the Moscow region, Russia, is in a good position to offer a rich experimental research program in the field of neutrino physics. Of particular interest is the possibility to direct a neutrino beam from Protvino towards the KM3NeT/ORCA detector, which is currently under construction in the Mediterranean Sea 40 km offshore Toulon, France. This proposal is known as P2O. Thanks to its baseline of 2595 km, this experiment would yield an unparalleled sensitivity to matter effects in the Earth, allowing for the determination of the neutrino mass ordering with a high level of certainty after only a few years of running at a modest beam intensity of $\approx$ 90 kW. With a prolonged exposure ($\approx$ 1500 kW*yr), a 2$σ$ sensitivity to the leptonic CP-violating Dirac phase can be achieved. A second stage of the experiment, comprising a further intensity upgrade of the accelerator complex and a densified version of the ORCA detector (Super-ORCA), would allow for up to a 6$σ$ sensitivity to CP violation and a 10$^\circ$-17$^\circ$ resolution on the CP phase after 10 years of running with a 450 kW beam, competitive with other planned experiments. The initial composition and energy spectrum of the neutrino beam would need to be monitored by a near detector, to be constructed several hundred meters downstream from the proton beam target. The same neutrino beam and near detector set-up would also allow for neutrino-nucleus cross section measurements to be performed. A short-baseline sterile neutrino search experiment would also be possible.

The scheme and gauge dependence of the factorization property of the RG $β$-function in the $SU(N_c)$ QCD generalized Crewther relation (GCR), which connects the non-singlet contributions to the Adler and Bjorken polarized sum rule functions, is investigated at the $\mathcal{O}(a^4_s)$ level. In the gauge-invariant $\rm{\overline{MS}}$-scheme this property holds at least at this order. To study whether this property is true in all gauge-invariant schemes, we consider the $\rm{MS}$-like schemes in QCD and the QED-limit of the GCR in the $\rm{\overline{MS}}$-scheme and in the $\rm{MOM}$ and the $\rm{OS}$ schemes. In these schemes we confirm the existence of the $β$-function factorization in the QCD and QED variants of the GCR. The problem of the possible $β$-factorization in the gauge-dependent renormalization schemes in QCD is studied. We consider the gauge non-invariant $\rm{mMOM}$ and $\rm{MOMgggg}$-schemes and demonstrate that in the $\rm{mMOM}$ scheme at the $\mathcal{O}(a^3_s)$ level the $β$-factorization is valid for three values of the gauge parameter $ξ$ only, namely for $ξ=-3, -1$ and $ξ=0$. In the $\mathcal{O}(a^4_s)$ order of PT it remains valid only for case of the Landau gauge $ξ=0$.
The consideration of these two schemes for the QCD GCR allows us to conclude that the factorization of RG $β$-function will always be implemented in any $\rm{MOM}$-like schemes with linear covariant gauge at $ξ=0$ and $ξ=-3$ at the $\mathcal{O}(a^3_s)$ level. It is demonstrated that if factorization property for the $\rm{MS}$-like schemes is true in all orders of PT, as theoretically indicated, then the factorization will also occur in the arbitrary $\rm{MOM}$-like scheme in the Landau gauge in all orders of PT as well.

We apply the 't Hooft $\bar{MS}$-based scheme to study the scheme-dependence of the QCD generalization of Crewther relation for the product of the normalised non-singlet perturbative contributions to the $e^+e^-$-annihilation Adler function and to the Bjorken sum rule of the polarized lepton-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering process. We prove that after the transformations from the pure $\bar{MS}$-scheme to the 't Hooft scheme the characteristic $\bar{MS}$-scheme theoretical property of this relation, namely the factorization of the $β$-function in its conformal symmetry breaking part, disappears. Another "non-comfortable" theoretical consequence of the application of this prescription in $\mathcal{N}=1$ SUSY QED model is mentioned. It is shown, that within the 't Hooft scheme the expansions of Green functions in terms of the Lambert function is simplified in high orders of perturbation theory. This may be considered as the attractive feature of the 't Hooft scheme, which manifest itself in high-order perturbative phenomenological applications.

In this paper it is shown that a measurement of the relative luminosity changes at the LHC may be obtained by analysing the currents drawn from the high voltage power supplies of the electromagnetic section of the forward calorimeter of the ATLAS detector. The method was verified with a reproduction of a small section of the ATLAS forward calorimeter using proton beams of known beam energies and variable intensities at the U-70 accelerator at IHEP in Protvino, Russia. The experimental setup and the data taking during a test beam run in April 2008 are described in detail. A comparison of the measured high voltage currents with reference measurements from beam intensity monitors shows a linear dependence on the beam intensity. The non-linearities are measured to be less than 0.5 % combining statistical and systematic uncertainties.

The structure of a superconducting vortex has been studied theoretically for a dirty antiferromagnetic superconductor (AFSC), modelling an AFSC as a doped semi-metal with s-wave superconducting pairing and antiferromagnetic (dielectric) interaction between electrons (holes). It is also supposed that the quasiparticles dispersion law possesses the property of nesting. The distribution of the superconducting and magnetic order parameters near the vortex core is calculated. It is shown that the antiferromagnetic order, been suppressed at large distances, is restored around the superconducting flux and the vortex core is in fact insulating and antiferromagnetic, in stark contrast to the normal metal cores of traditional superconductors. Moreover, our model calculations predict that as the temperature decreases the flux region of the superconductivity and antiferromagnetism coexistence increases.

The wire is pulsed with high current to provide a toroidal magnetic field which continuously focuses mesons. The hose increases the neutrino event rate and reduces differences between near-field and far-field neutrino spectra for oscillation experiments. We have studied this device as part of the development of the Neutrinos at the Main Injector (NuMI) project, but it might also be of use for other conventional neutrino beams.

The oscillations are analysed in the three-neutrino scheme taking into account terrestrial matter effects. In the proposed experiment it is feasible to observe the oscillation pattern as an unique proof of the existence of neutrino oscillations. Precise measurements of disappearance oscillation parameters of the muon neutrinos and antineutrinos can be done within a reasonable time.
