In this short note we present aspects of the energy and charge deposition within the McDIPPER, a novel 3D resolved model for the initial state of ultrarelativistic Heavy-Ion collisions based on the $k_\perp$-factorized Color Glass Condensate hybrid approach. This framework is a initial-state Monte Carlo event generator which deposits the relevant conserved charges (energy, charge and baryon densities) both in the midrapidity and forward/backward regions of the collision. The event-by-event generator computes the gluon and (anti-) quark phase-space densities using the IP-Sat model, from where the conserved charges can be extracted directly. In this work we present the centrality and collision energy dependence for the deposited conserved quantities at midrapidity and the full event, the so-called $4π$ solid angle range.

In the present work we have included the leading order contributions to the light flavor parton densities. As a feature, the model can be systematically improved in the future by adding next-to-leading order calculations (in the CGC hybrid framework), and extended to lower energies by including sub-eikonal corrections the channels included. We present relevant observables, such as the eccentricities and flow decorrelation, as tests of this new approach.

In 2017, the STAR collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) has measured finite global angular momentum in heavy-ion collisions through a spin polarization measurement of $Λ$ hyperons. This measurement revealed a high angular momentum of the heavy ions and provided experimental evidence for vorticity in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) for the first time. In order to investigate the underlying mechanisms, a dynamic description of the transfer of angular momentum is required. In this work, the microscopic non-equilibrium transport approach SMASH (Simulating Many Accelerated Strongly-interacting Hadrons) is applied to study the generation of global angular momentum by the interaction of two nuclei. As SMASH provides access to the whole phase-space evolution of every particle at any given time, it allows to assess the fraction of angular momentum generated in the fireball by all participants. We confirm the previous modeling by Becattini \textit{et al} within a geometric Glauber model approach, which found that the angular momentum transfer reaches a unique maximum in mid-central collisions during time evolution. The corresponding impact parameter is around $b=4-6$ fm for all beam energies from $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=2.41-200$ GeV. Even though angular momentum is not conserved locally in the transport approach a priori, we identify the contributions to the conservation violation and propose optimal setups for different energy regimes that recover conservation, based upon the test particle method and the treatment of Fermi motion. Furthermore, the system size and centrality dependence are investigated.

We compute the isolated photon production in association with a charged hadron at mid rapidity in $pp$ and $pA$ based on the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework of high energy QCD where, for the first time, we incorporate the Sudakov effect of soft gluon emissions. Our results are based on the leading order $q g \to q γ$ channel in the CGC framework and confronted with the recent data from RHIC and LHC concerning the angular distributions and out-of-plane transverse momentum distributions. We find that, while the CGC computation alone results in too narrow distributions, with the help of the Sudakov effect, we can get a satisfactory description of the data. With this as a benchmark, we provide predictions for the magnitude of the nuclear effect brought by the phenomena of gluon saturation in the CGC.

In this work, we assess the importance of non-equilibrium dynamics in the production of photons from the late stages of relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The p$_\mathrm{T}$-differential spectra and $v_2$ of photons from the late hadronic stage are computed within a non-equilibrium hadron transport approach, and compared to the results of a local equilibrium evolution using ideal relativistic hydrodynamics. It is found that non-equilibrium dynamics enhance the late-stage photon production at low p$_\mathrm{T}$ and decreases it at higher p$_\mathrm{T}$ compared to the estimate from hydrodynamics. This same comparison points to a significant increase in the momentum anisotropies of these photons due to non-equilibrium dynamics. Once combined with photons produced above the particlization temperature in the hydrodynamics evolution, the differences between the two approaches appear modest in what concerns the p$_\mathrm{T}$ differential spectra, but are clearly noticeable at low p$_\mathrm{T}$ for the elliptic flow: non-equilibrium dynamics enhance the photon $v_2$ below p$_\mathrm{T}$ $\approx 1.4$ GeV.

We investigate the long-standing question of the effect of proton-antiproton annihilation on the (anti-)proton yield, while respecting detailed balance for the 5-body back-reaction for the first time in a full microscopic description of the late stages of heavy-ion collisions. This is achieved by employing a stochastic collision criterion in a hadronic transport approach (SMASH), which allows to treat arbitrary multi-particle reactions. It is used to account for the regeneration of (anti-)protons via $5π\rightarrow p\bar{p}$. Our results show that a back-reaction happens for a fraction of 15-20\% of all annihilations. Within a viscous hybrid approach Au+Au/Pb+Pb collisions from $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=17.3$ GeV$-5.02$ TeV are investigated and the quoted fraction is independent of the beam energy or centrality of the collision. Taking the back-reaction into account results in regeneration of half of the (anti-)proton yield that is lost due to annihilations at midrapidity. We also find that, concerning the multiplicities, treating the back-reaction as a chain of 2-body reactions is equivalent to a single 5-to-2 reaction.

In a recent work from the ALICE collaboration an excess of relatively soft dilepton pairs was reported in p+p collisions at $13$ TeV. In the report no satisfactory explanation was found via standard bremsstrahlung computations. In this letter, \textit{anomalous} dilepton pairs are produced non-perturbatively from the back-reaction of the vacuum to a $q\bar{q}$ pair, travelling back-to-back. The dilepton spectrum is computed by folding this rate with the cross-section for the process p+p$\rightarrow q\bar{q}$, which was computed using the framework of the Color Glass Condensate Effective Field Theory (CGC EFT) in the $k_\perp$-factorized limit. The resulting spectra is compatible within uncertainties with the data, and moreover, provides exciting insight into the non-perturbative phenomena that ultra-soft electromagnetic radiation can probe.

In this work, I calculate the $p_\perp$ resolved spectra for the three stages of the \textit{bottom-up} scenario, which are comparable to the thermal contribution, particularly at higher values of the saturation scale $Q_S^2$. Analytical solutions are obtained by including a parametrization of scaling solutions from far-from-equilibrium classical statistical lattice simulations into a small angle kinetic rate. Furthermore, a theoretically motivated ansatz is used to account for near-collinear enhancement of the low-$p_\perp$ radiation. The system is phenomenologically constrained using the charge hadron multiplicities from LHC and RHIC as in previous parametric estimates and fair agreement with the data available for photons was found. I find that for this realistic set of parameters, the contribution from the thermalizing glasma dominates the excess photons.

We investigate the measurement of Hanbury Brown-Twiss (HBT) photon correlations as an experimental tool to discriminate different sources of photon enhancement, which are proposed to simultaneously reproduce the direct photon yield and the azimuthal anisotropy measured in nuclear collisions at RHIC and the LHC. To showcase this, we consider two different scenarios in which we enhance the yields from standard hydrodynamical simulations. In the first, additional photons are produced from the early pre-equilibrium stage computed from the \textit{bottom-up} thermalization scenario. In the second, the thermal rates are enhanced close to the pseudo-critical temperature $T_c\approx 155\,\text{MeV}$ using a phenomenological ansatz. We compute the correlators for relative momenta $q_o, \,q_s$ and $q_l$ for different transverse pair momenta, $K_\perp$, and find that the longitudinal correlation is the most sensitive to different photon sources. Our results also demonstrate that including anisotropic pre-equilibrium rates enhances non-Gaussianities in the correlators, which can be quantified using the kurtosis of the correlators. Finally, we study the feasibility of measuring a direct photon HBT signal in the upcoming high-luminosity LHC runs. Considering only statistical uncertainties, we find that with the projected $\sim 10^{10}$ heavy ion events a measurement of the HBT correlations for $K_\perp<1\, \text{GeV}$ is statistically significant.

We compute the leading order (LO) $qg\to q γ$ and next-to-leading order (NLO) $gg\to q{\bar q} γ$ contributions to inclusive photon production in proton-proton (p+p) collisions at the LHC. These channels provide the dominant contribution at LO and NLO for photon transverse momenta $k_{γ\perp}$ corresponding to momentum fractions of $x\leq 0.01$ in the colliding protons. Our computations, performed in the dilute-dense framework of the Color Glass Condensate effective field theory (CGC EFT), show that the NLO contribution dominates at small-$x$ because it is sensitive to $k_\perp$-dependent unintegrated gluon distributions in both of the protons. We predict a maximal $10\%$ modification of the cross section at low $k_{γ\perp}$ as a direct consequence of the violation of $k_\perp$-factorization. The coherence effects responsible for this modification are enhanced in nuclei and can be identified from inclusive photon measurements in proton-nucleus collisions. We provide numerical results for the isolated inclusive photon cross section for $k_{γ\perp}\leq 20$ GeV in p+p collisions that can be tested in the future at the LHC.

We compute the cross section for photons emitted from sea quarks in proton-nucleus collisions at collider energies. The computation is performed within the dilute-dense kinematics of the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) effective field theory. Albeit the result obtained is formally at next-to-leading order in the CGC power counting, it provides the dominant contribution for central rapidities. We observe that the inclusive photon cross section is proportional to all-twist Wilson line correlators in the nucleus. These correlators also appear in quark-pair production; unlike the latter, photon production is insensitive to hadronization uncertainties and therefore more sensitive to multi-parton correlations in the gluon saturation regime of QCD. We demonstrate that $k_\perp$ and collinear factorized expressions for inclusive photon production are obtained as leading twist approximations to our result. In particular, the collinearly factorized expression is directly sensitive to the nuclear gluon distribution at small $x$. Other results of interest include the realization of the Low-Burnett-Kroll soft photon theorem in the CGC framework and a comparative study of how the photon amplitude is obtained in Lorenz and light-cone gauges.
