Sentiment Analysis is a vital research topic in the field of Computer Science. With the accelerated development of Information Technology and social networks, a massive amount of data related to comment texts has been generated on web applications or social media platforms like Twitter. Due to this, people have actively started proliferating general information and the information related to political opinions, which becomes an important reason for analyzing public reactions. Most researchers have used social media specifics or contents to analyze and predict public opinion concerning political events. This research proposes an analytical study using Israeli political Twitter data to interpret public opinion towards the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The attitudes of ethnic groups and opinion leaders in the form of tweets are analyzed using Machine Learning algorithms like Support Vector Classifier (SVC), Decision Tree (DT), and Naive Bayes (NB). Finally, a comparative analysis is done based on experimental results from different models.

Churn prediction in credit cards, fraud detection in insurance, and loan default prediction are important analytical customer relationship management (ACRM) problems. Since frauds, churns and defaults happen less frequently, the datasets for these problems turn out to be naturally highly unbalanced. Consequently, all supervised machine learning classifiers tend to yield substantial false-positive rates when trained on such unbalanced datasets. We propose two ways of data balancing. In the first, we propose an oversampling method to generate synthetic samples of minority class using Generative Adversarial Network (GAN). We employ Vanilla GAN [1], Wasserstein GAN [2] and CTGAN [3] separately to oversample the minority class samples. In order to assess the efficacy of our proposed approach, we use a host of machine learning classifiers, including Random Forest, Decision Tree, support vector machine (SVM), and Logistic Regression on the data balanced by GANs. In the second method, we introduce a hybrid method to handle data imbalance. In this second way, we utilize the power of undersampling and over-sampling together by augmenting the synthetic minority class data oversampled by GAN with the undersampled majority class data obtained by one-class support vigor machine (OCSVM) [4]. We combine both over-sampled data generated by GAN and the data under-sampled by OCSVM [4] and pass the resultant data to classifiers. When we compared our results to those of Farquad et al. [5], Sundarkumar, Ravi, and Siddeshwar [6], our proposed methods outperform the previous results in terms of the area under the ROC curve (AUC) on all datasets.

Social Media usage has increased to an all-time high level in today's digital world. The majority of the population uses social media tools (like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) to share their thoughts and experiences with the community. Analysing the sentiments and opinions of the common public is very important for both the government and the business people. This is the reason behind the activeness of many media agencies during the election time for performing various kinds of opinion polls. In this paper, we have worked towards analysing the sentiments of the people of India during the Lok Sabha election of 2019 using the Twitter data of that duration. We have built an automatic tweet analyser using the Transfer Learning technique to handle the unsupervised nature of this problem. We have used the Linear Support Vector Classifiers method in our Machine Learning model, also, the Term Frequency Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) methodology for handling the textual data of tweets. Further, we have increased the capability of the model to address the sarcastic tweets posted by some of the users, which has not been yet considered by the researchers in this domain.

Communication is defined as the act of sharing or exchanging information, ideas or feelings. To establish communication between two people, both of them are required to have knowledge and understanding of a common language. But in the case of deaf and dumb people, the means of communication are different. Deaf is the inability to hear and dumb is the inability to speak. They communicate using sign language among themselves and with normal people but normal people do not take seriously the importance of sign language. Not everyone possesses the knowledge and understanding of sign language which makes communication difficult between a normal person and a deaf and dumb person. To overcome this barrier, one can build a model based on machine learning. A model can be trained to recognize different gestures of sign language and translate them into English. This will help a lot of people in communicating and conversing with deaf and dumb people. The existing Indian Sing Language Recognition systems are designed using machine learning algorithms with single and double-handed gestures but they are not real-time. In this paper, we propose a method to create an Indian Sign Language dataset using a webcam and then using transfer learning, train a TensorFlow model to create a real-time Sign Language Recognition system. The system achieves a good level of accuracy even with a limited size dataset.

The observed ratings in most recommender systems are subjected to popularity bias and are thus not randomly missing. Due to this, only a few popular items are recommended, and a vast number of non-popular items are hardly recommended. Not suggesting the non-popular items lead to fewer products dominating the market and thus offering fewer opportunities for creativity and innovation. In the literature, several fair algorithms have been proposed which mainly focused on improving the accuracy of the recommendation system. However, a typical accuracy measure is biased towards popular items, i.e., it promotes better accuracy for popular items compared to non-popular items. This paper considers a metric that measures the popularity bias as the difference in error on popular items and non-popular items. Motivated by the fair boosting algorithm on classification, we propose an algorithm that reduces the popularity bias present in the data while maintaining accuracy within acceptable limits. The main idea of our algorithm is that it lifts the weights of the non-popular items, which are generally underrepresented in the data. With the help of comprehensive experiments on real-world datasets, we show that our proposed algorithm outperforms the existing algorithms on the proposed popularity bias metric.

Several text classification tasks such as sentiment analysis, news categorization, multi-label classification and opinion classification are challenging problems even for modern deep learning networks. Recently, Capsule Networks (CapsNets) are proposed for image classification. It has been shown that CapsNets have several advantages over Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), while their validity in the domain of text has been less explored. In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid architecture viz., BGCapsule, which is a Capsule model preceded by an ensemble of Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Units (BiGRU) for several text classification tasks. We employed an ensemble of Bidirectional GRUs for feature extraction layer preceding the primary capsule layer. The hybrid architecture, after performing basic pre-processing steps, consists of five layers: an embedding layer based on GloVe, a BiGRU based ensemble layer, a primary capsule layer, a flatten layer and fully connected ReLU layer followed by a fully connected softmax layer. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of BGCapsule, we conducted extensive experiments on five benchmark datasets (ranging from 10,000 records to 700,000 records) including Movie Review (MR Imdb 2005), AG News dataset, Dbpedia ontology dataset, Yelp Review Full dataset and Yelp review polarity dataset. These benchmarks cover several text classification tasks such as news categorization, sentiment analysis, multiclass classification, multi-label classification and opinion classification. We found that our proposed architecture (BGCapsule) achieves better accuracy compared to the existing methods without the help of any external linguistic knowledge such as positive sentiment keywords and negative sentiment keywords. Further, BGCapsule converged faster compared to other extant techniques.

With the widespread use of social media, companies now have access to a wealth of customer feedback data which has valuable applications to Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Analyzing customer grievances data, is paramount as their speedy non-redressal would lead to customer churn resulting in lower profitability. In this paper, we propose a descriptive analytics framework using Self-organizing feature map (SOM), for Visual Sentiment Analysis of customer complaints. The network learns the inherent grou** of the complaints automatically which can then be visualized too using various techniques. Analytical Customer Relationship Management (ACRM) executives can draw useful business insights from the maps and take timely remedial action. We also propose a high-performance version of the algorithm CUDASOM (CUDA based Self Organizing feature Map) implemented using NVIDIA parallel computing platform, CUDA, which speeds up the processing of high-dimensional text data and generates fast results. The efficacy of the proposed model has been demonstrated on the customer complaints data regarding the products and services of four leading Indian banks. CUDASOM achieved an average speed up of 44 times. Our approach can expand research into intelligent grievance redressal system to provide rapid solutions to the complaining customers.

We first, introduce a deep learning based framework named as DeepIrisNet2 for visible spectrum and NIR Iris representation. The framework can work without classical iris normalization step or very accurate iris segmentation; allowing to work under non-ideal situation. The framework contains spatial transformer layers to handle deformation and supervision branches after certain intermediate layers to mitigate overfitting. In addition, we present a dual CNN iris segmentation pipeline comprising of a iris/pupil bounding boxes detection network and a semantic pixel-wise segmentation network. Furthermore, to get compact templates, we present a strategy to generate binary iris codes using DeepIrisNet2. Since, no ground truth dataset are available for CNN training for iris segmentation, We build large scale hand labeled datasets and make them public; i) iris, pupil bounding boxes, ii) labeled iris texture. The networks are evaluated on challenging ND-IRIS-0405, UBIRIS.v2, MICHE-I, and CASIA v4 Interval datasets. Proposed approach significantly improves the state-of-the-art and achieve outstanding performance surpassing all previous methods.

In the emerging field of magnonics, spin waves are foreseen as signal carriers for future spintronic information processing and communication devices, owing to both the very low power losses and a high device miniaturisation potential predicted for short-wavelength spin waves. Yet, the efficient excitation and controlled propagation of nanoscale spin waves remains a severe challenge. Here, we report the observation of high-amplitude, ultrashort dipole-exchange spin waves (down to 80 nm wavelength at 10 GHz frequency) in a ferromagnetic single layer system, coherently excited by the driven dynamics of a spin vortex core. We used time-resolved x-ray microscopy to directly image such propagating spin waves and their excitation over a wide range of frequencies. By further analysis, we found that these waves exhibit a heterosymmetric mode profile, involving regions with anti-Larmor precession sense and purely linear magnetic oscillation. In particular, this mode profile consists of dynamic vortices with laterally alternating helicity, leading to a partial magnetic flux closure over the film thickness, which is explained by a strong and unexpected mode hybridisation. This spin-wave phenomenon observed is a general effect inherent to the dynamics of sufficiently thick ferromagnetic single layer films, independent of the specific excitation method employed.

Scanning transmission x-ray microscopy is employed to investigate experimentally the reversal of the magnetic vortex core polarity in cylindrical Ni81Fe19 nanodisks triggered by two orthogonal monopolar magnetic field pulses with peak amplitude $B_0$, pulse length $τ$=60 ps and delay time $Δ$t in the range from -400 ps to +400 ps between the two pulses. The two pulses are oriented in-plane in the x- and y-direction. We have experimentally studied vortex core reversal as function of $B_0$ and $Δ$t. The resulting phase diagram shows large regions of unidirectional vortex core switching where the switching threshold is modulated due to resonant amplification of azimuthal spin waves. The switching behavior changes dramatically depending on whether the first pulse is applied in the x- or the y-direction. This asymmetry can be reproduced by three-dimensional micromagnetic simulations but not by two-dimensional simulations. This behavior demonstrates that in contrast to previous experiments on vortex core reversal the three-dimensionality in the dynamics is essential here.

Three-dimensional linear spin-wave eigenmodes of a Permalloy disk having finite thickness are studied by micromagnetic simulations based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. The eigenmodes found in the simulations are interpreted as linear superpositions (hybridizations) of 'approximate' three-dimensional eigenmodes, which are the fundamental gyromode $G_0$, the spin-wave modes and the higher-order gyromodes $G_N$ (flexure modes), the thickness dependence of which is represented by perpendicular standing spin waves. This hybridization leads to new and surprising dependencies of the mode frequencies on the disk thickness. The three-dimensional character of the eigenmodes is essential to explain the recent experimental results on vortex-core reversal observed in relatively thick Permalloy disks.

We present an experimental investigation of radial spin-wave modes in magnetic nano-disks with a vortex ground state. The spin-wave amplitude was measured using a frequency-resolved magneto optical network analyzer, allowing for high-resolution resonance curves to be recorded. It was found that with increasing excitation amplitude up to about 10 mT, the lowest-order mode behaves strongly non-linearly as the mode frequency redshifts and the resonance peak strongly deforms. This behavior was quantitatively reproduced by micromagnetic simulations. At higher excitation the spinwaves are transformed into a soliton by self-focusing, and collapse onto the vortex core, dispersing the energy in short-wavelength spinwaves. Additionally, this process can lead to switching of the vortex polarization through the injection of a Bloch point.

The magnetic vortex structure, an important ground state configuration in micron and sub-micron sized ferromagnetic thin film platelets, is characterized by a curling in-plane magnetization and, in the center, a minuscule region with out-of-plane magnetization, the vortex core, which points either up or down. It has already been demonstrated that the vortex core polarity can be reversed with external AC magnetic fields, frequency-tuned to the (sub-GHz) gyrotropic eigenmode or to (multi-GHz) azimuthal spin wave modes, where reversal times in the sub-ns regime can be realized. This fast vortex core switching may also be of technological interest as the vortex core polarity can be regarded as one data bit. Here we experimentally demonstrate that unidirectional vortex core reversal by excitation with sub-100 ps long orthogonal monopolar magnetic pulse sequences is possible in a wide range of pulse lengths and amplitudes. The application of such short digital pulses is the favourable excitation scheme for technological applications. Measured phase diagrams of this unidirectional, spin wave mediated vortex core reversal are in good qualitative agreement with phase diagrams obtained from micromagnetic simulations. The time dependence of the reversal process, observed by time-resolved scanning transmission X-ray microscopy indicates a switching time of 100 ps and fits well with our simulations. The origin of the asymmetric response to clockwise and counter clockwise excitation which is a prerequisite for reliable unidirectional switching is discussed, based on the gyromode - spin wave coupling.

We demonstrate a non-linear interference due to an active 'dual frequency' excitation of both, the sub-GHz vortex gyromode and multi-GHz magneto-static spin waves in ferromagnetic micrometer sized platelets in the vortex state. When the sub-GHz vortex gyromode is excited simultaneously a significant broadband reduction of the switching threshold for spin wave mediated vortex core reversal is observed in both, experiments and micromagnetic simulations. Consequently, the magnetic field amplitudes required for vortex core reversal can be lowered by nearly one order of magnitude. Moreover, additional spin wave resonance frequencies are found which emerge only if the vortex gyromode is actively excited simultaneously which can be explained by frequency doubling and by the broken symmetry of the vortex state.
