Large N=4 Holography
Abstract: The class of 2d minimal model CFTs with higher spin AdS3 duals is extended to theories with large N=4 superconformal symmetry. We construct a higher spin theory based on the global D(2,1|alpha) superalgebra, and propose a large N family of cosets as a dual CFT description. We also indicate how a non-abelian version of this Vasiliev higher spin theory might give an alternative description of IIB st… ▽ More

N=1 extension of minimal model holography
Abstract: The CFT dual of the higher spin theory with minimal N = 1 spectrum is determined. Unlike previous examples of minimal model holography, there is no free parameter beyond the central charge, and the CFT can be described in terms of a non-diagonal modular invariant of the bosonic theory at the special value of the 't Hooft parameter lambda=1/2. As evidence in favour of the duality we show that the s… ▽ More

Generalised Moonshine and Holomorphic Orbifolds
Abstract: Generalised moonshine is reviewed from the point of view of holomorphic orbifolds, putting special emphasis on the role of the third cohomology group H^3(G, U(1)) in characterising consistent constructions. Generalised Mathieu Moonshine
Abstract: The Mathieu twisted twining genera, i.e. the analogues of Norton's generalised Moonshine functions, are constructed for the elliptic genus of K3. It is shown that they satisfy the expected consistency conditions, and that their behaviour under modular transformations is controlled by a 3-cocycle in H^3(M_24,U(1)), just as for the case of holomorphic orbifolds. We also study the behaviour of D-branes under current-current bulk deformations. We find that the branes always continue to preserve as much symmetry as they possibly can, i.e. as much as is preserved in t… ▽ More

From boundary to bulk in logarithmic CFT
Abstract: The analogue of the charge-conjugation modular invariant for rational logarithmic conformal field theories is constructed. This is done by reconstructing the bulk spectrum from a simple boundary condition (the analogue of the Cardy `identity brane'). We apply the general method to the c_1,p triplet models and reproduce the previously known bulk theory for p=2 at c=-2. For general p we verify tha… ▽ More

Topological defects for the free boson CFT
Abstract: Two different conformal field theories can be joined together along a defect line. We study such defects for the case where the conformal field theories on either side are single free bosons compactified on a circle. We concentrate on topological defects for which the left- and right-moving Virasoro algebras are separately preserved, but not necessarily any additional symmetries. For the case wh… ▽ More

D-brane superpotentials and RG flows on the quintic
Abstract: The behaviour of D2-branes on the quintic under complex structure deformations is analysed by combining Landau-Ginzburg techniques with methods from conformal field theory. It is shown that the boundary renormalisation group flow induced by the bulk deformations is realised as a gradient flow of the effective space time superpotential which is calculated explicitly to all orders in the boundary… ▽ More

Worldsheet correlators in AdS(3)/CFT(2)
Abstract: The AdS_3/CFT_2 correspondence is checked beyond the supergravity approximation by comparing correlation functions. To this end we calculate 2- and 3-point functions on the sphere of certain chiral primary operators for strings on AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4. These results are then compared with the corresponding amplitudes in the dual 2-dimensional conformal field theory. In the limit of small string cou… ▽ More

Bulk perturbations of N=2 branes
Abstract: The evolution of supersymmetric A-type D-branes under the bulk renormalization group flow between two different N=2 minimal models is studied. Using the Landau-Ginzburg description we show that a specific set of branes decouples from the infrared theory, and we make detailed predictions for the behavior of the remaining branes. The Landau-Ginzburg picture is then checked against a direct conform… ▽ More

Twisted brane charges for non-simply connected groups
Abstract: The charges of the twisted branes for strings on the group manifold SU(n)/Z_d are determined. To this end we derive explicit (and remarkably simple) formulae for the relevant NIM-rep coefficients. The charge groups of the twisted and untwisted branes are compared and found to agree for the cases we consider.

Bulk induced boundary perturbations
Abstract: The influence of closed string moduli on the D-brane moduli space is studied from a worldsheet point of view. Whenever a D-brane cannot be adjusted to an infinitesimal change of the closed string background, the corresponding exactly marginal bulk operator ceases to be exactly marginal in the presence of the brane. The bulk perturbation then induces a renormalisation group flow on the boundary w… ▽ More
