Context. Large spectroscopic surveys devoted to the study of the Milky Way, including Gaia, use automated pipelines to massively determine the atmospheric parameters of millions of stars. The Gaia FGK Benchmark Stars are reference stars with Teff and log g derived through fundamental relations, independently of spectroscopy, to be used as anchors for the parameter scale. The first and second versions of the sample have been extensively used for that purpose, and more generally to help constrain stellar models. Aims. We provide the third version of the Gaia FGK Benchmark Stars, an extended set intended to improve the calibration of spectroscopic surveys, and their interconnection. Methods. We have compiled about 200 candidates which have precise measurements of angular diameters and parallaxes. We determined their bolometric fluxes by fitting their spectral energy distribution. Masses were determined using two sets of stellar evolution models. In a companion paper we describe the determination of metallicities and detailed abundances. Results. We provide a new set of 192 Gaia FGK Benchmark Stars with their fundamental Teff and logg, and with uncertainties lower than 2% for most stars. Compared to the previous versions, the homogeneity and accuracy of the fundamental parameters are significantly improved thanks to the high quality of the Gaia data reflecting on distances and bolometric fluxes.

Land Carbon verification has long been a challenge in the carbon credit market. Carbon verification methods currently available are expensive, and may generate low-quality credit. Scalable and accurate remote sensing techniques enable new approaches to monitor changes in Above Ground Biomass (AGB) and Soil Organic Carbon (SOC). The majority of state-of-the-art research employs remote sensing on AGB and SOC separately, although some studies indicate a positive correlation between the two. We intend to combine the two domains in our research to improve state-of-the-art total carbon estimation and to provide insight into the voluntary carbon trading market. We begin by establishing baseline model in our study area in Scotland, using state-of-the-art methodologies in the SOC and AGB domains. The effects of feature engineering techniques such as variance inflation factor and feature selection on machine learning models are then investigated. This is extended by combining predictor variables from the two domains. Finally, we leverage the possible correlation between AGB and SOC to establish a relationship between the two and propose novel models in an attempt outperform the state-of-the-art results. We compared three machine learning techniques, boosted regression tree, random forest, and xgboost. These techniques have been demonstrated to be the most effective in both domains.

In this paper, we find all $k$--Fibonacci numbers that are concatenations of two repdigits. Active Queue Management (AQM) is a paradigm that aims to mitigate the congestion on the network layer through active buffer control to avoid overflow. However, finding the right parameters for an AQM scheme is challenging, due to the complexity and dynamics of the networks. On the other hand, the Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) mechanism is a solution that makes visible incipient congestion on the network layer to the transport layer. In this work, we propose to exploit the ECN information to improve AQM algorithms by applying Machine Learning techniques. Our intelligent method uses an artificial neural network to predict congestion and an AQM parameter tuner based on reinforcement learning. The evaluation results show that our solution can enhance the performance of deployed AQM, using the existing TCP congestion control mechanisms.
