Tidal resonances for fuzzballs
Abstract: We study the gravitational tidal response of D1D5, Top Star and (1,0,n) strata horizonless geometries. We find that the tidal interactions in fuzzball geometries, unlike in the case of black holes, exhibits a sequence of resonant peaks associated to the existence of metastable bound states. The spectrum of resonant frequencies is computed by semi-analytical and numerical methods.

Partition functions of non-Lagrangian theories from the holomorphic anomaly
Abstract: The computation of the partition function in certain quantum field theories, such as those of the Argyres-Douglas or Minahan-Nemeschansky type, is problematic due to the lack of a Lagrangian description. On irregular states and Argyres-Douglas theories
Abstract: Conformal theories of the Argyres-Douglas type are notoriously hard to study given that they are isolated and strongly coupled thus lacking a lagrangian description. In flat space, an exact description is provided by the Seiberg-Witten theory. Turning on a $Ω$-background makes the geometry ``quantum" and tractable only in the weak curvature limit. Multi instanton calculus on ALE spaces
Abstract: We study SYM gauge theories living on ALE spaces. Using localization formulae we compute the prepotential (and its gravitational corrections) for SU(N) supersymmetric ${\cal N}=2, 2^*$ gauge theories on ALE spaces of the $A_n$ type. Furthermore we derive the Poincaré polynomial describing the homologies of the corresponding moduli spaces of self-dual gauge connections. From these results we ex… ▽ More

Matone's Relation in the Presence of Gravitational Couplings
Abstract: The prepotential in N=2 SUSY Yang-Mills theories enjoys remarkable properties. One of the most interesting is its relation to the coordinate on the quantum moduli space $u=< \tr φ^2>$ that results into recursion equations for the coefficients of the prepotential due to instantons. In this work we show, with an explicit multi-instanton computation, that this relation holds true at arbitrary windi… ▽ More

Superlocalization formulas and supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories
Abstract: By using supermanifold techniques we prove a generalization of the localization formula in equivariant cohomology which is suitable for studying supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories in terms of ADHM data. With these techniques one can compute the reduced partition functions of topological super Yang-Mills theory with 4, 8 or 16 supercharges. More generally, the superlocalization formula can be app… ▽ More

The Galactic Center as a Dark Matter Gamma-Ray Source
Abstract: The EGRET telescope has identified a gamma-ray source at the Galactic center. We point out here that the spectral features of this source are compatible with the gamma-ray flux induced by pair annihilations of dark matter weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). We show that the discrimination between this interpretation and other viable explanations will be possible with GLAST, the next ma… ▽ More

Classical gauge instantons from open strings
Abstract: We study the D3/D(-1) brane system and show how to compute instanton corrections to correlation functions of gauge theories in four dimensions using open string techniques. In particular we show that the disks with mixed boundary conditions that are typical of the D3/D(-1) system are the sources for the classical instanton solution. This can then be recovered from simple calculations of open str… ▽ More

Multi-Instanton Calculus and Equivariant Cohomology
Abstract: We present a systematic derivation of multi-instanton amplitudes in terms of ADHM equivariant cohomology. The results rely on a supersymmetric formulation of the localization formula for equivariant forms. We examine the cases of N=4 and N=2 gauge theories with adjoint and fundamental matter.

Search for Dark Matter with GLAST
Abstract: The detection of exotic cosmic rays due to pair annihilation of dark matter particles in the Milky Way halo is a viable techniques to search for supersymmetric dark matter candidates. The study of the spectrum of gamma-rays, antiprotons and positrons offers good possibilities to perform this search in a significant portion of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model parameter space. D-instanton probes of N=2 non-conformal geometries
Abstract: D-instanton calculus has proved to be able to probe the AdS near horizon geometry for $N$ D-branes systems which, when decoupled from gravity, yield four dimensional superconformal gauge theories with various matter content. In this work we extend previous analysis to encompass fractional brane models which give rise to non conformal N=2 Super Yang-Mills theories. Via D-instanton calculus we stu… ▽ More
