Thermal dilepton rates from quenched lattice QCD
Abstract: We present new lattice results on the continuum extrapolation of the vector current correlation function. Lattice calculations have been carried out in the deconfined phase at a temperature of 1.1 Tc, extending our previous results at 1.45 Tc, utilizing quenched non-perturbatively clover-improved Wilson fermions and light quark masses. A systematic analysis on multiple lattice spacings allows to p… ▽ More

Thermal Correlators in the ρ channel of two-flavor QCD
Abstract: We present a lattice QCD calculation with two dynamical flavors of the isovector vector correlator in the high-temperature phase. We analyze the correlator in terms of the associated spectral function, for which we review the theoretical expectations. In our main analysis, we perform a fit for the difference of the thermal and vacuum spectral functions, and we use an exact sum rule that constrains… ▽ More

QCD thermodynamics with two flavours of Wilson fermions on large lattices
Abstract: We explore the phase diagram of two flavour QCD at vanishing chemical potential using dynamical O(a)-improved Wilson quarks. In the approach to the chiral limit we use lattices with a temporal extent of N_t=16 and spatial extent L=32,48 and 64 to enable the extrapolation to the thermodynamic limit with small discretisation effects. Charmonium dissociation and heavy quark transport in hot quenched lattice QCD
Abstract: We study the properties of charmonium states at finite temperature in quenched lattice QCD on large and fine isotropic lattices. We perform a detailed analysis of charmonium correlation and spectral functions both below and above Tc. Our analysis suggests that the S wave states disappear at about 1.5 Tc. Optimal overlayer inspired by Photuris firefly improves light-extraction efficiency of existing light-emitting diodes
Abstract: In this paper the design, fabrication and characterization of a bioinspired overlayer deposited on a GaN LED is described. The purpose of this overlayer is to improve light extraction into air from the diode's high refractive-index active material. The layer design is inspired by the microstructure found in the firefly Photuris sp. The actual dimensions and material composition have been optimized… ▽ More

Multiplicative Bases for the Centres of the Group Algebra and Iwahori-Hecke Algebra of the Symmetric Group
Abstract: Let $\H_n$ be the Iwahori-Hecke algebra of the symmetric group $S_n$, and let $Z(\H_n)$ denote its centre. Let $B={b_1,b_2,...,b_t}$ be a basis for $Z(\H_n)$ over $R=\Z[q,q^{-1}]$. Then $B$ is called \emph{multiplicative} if, for every $i$ and $j$, there exists $k$ such that $b_ib_j= b_k$. In this article we prove that there are no multiplicative bases for $Z(\Z S_n)$ and $Z(\H_n)$ when $n\ge 3$.… ▽ More
