Electron transport measurements in liquid xenon with Xenoscope, a large-scale DARWIN demonstrator
Abstract: There is a compelling physics case for a large, xenon-based underground detector devoted to dark matter and other rare-event searches. A two-phase time projection chamber as inner detector allows for a good energy resolution, a three-dimensional position determination of the interaction site and particle discrimination. To study challenges related to the construction and operation of a multi-tonne… ▽ More

LEGEND-1000 Preconceptual Design Report
Abstract: We propose the construction of LEGEND-1000, the ton-scale Large Enriched Germanium Experiment for Neutrinoless $ββ$ Decay. This international experiment is designed to answer one of the highest priority questions in fundamental physics. It consists of 1000 kg of Ge detectors enriched to more than 90% in the $^{76}$Ge isotope operated in a liquid argon active shield at a deep underground laboratory… ▽ More

The XBPF, a new multipurpose scintillating fibre monitor for the measurement of secondary beams at CERN
Abstract: The Beam Instrumentation group at CERN has developed a new scintillating fibre beam monitor for the measurement of secondary particle beams in the CERN Experimental Areas. The monitor has a simple design that stands out for its low material budget, vacuum compatibility, good performance, low cost, and ease of production. By using different read-out techniques the monitor can perform several functi… ▽ More

Precise Charged Particle Timing with the PICOSEC Detector
Abstract: The experimental requirements in near future accelerators (e.g. High Luminosity-LHC) has stimulated intense interest in development of detectors with high precision timing capabilities. With this as a goal, a new detection concept called PICOSEC, which is based to a "two-stage" MicroMegas detector coupled to a Cherenkov radiator equipped with a photocathode has been developed. Results obtained wit… ▽ More

Charged particle timing at sub-25 picosecond precision: the PICOSEC detection concept
Abstract: The PICOSEC detection concept consists in a "two-stage" Micromegas detector coupled to a Cherenkov radiator and equipped with a photocathode. A proof of concept has already been tested: a single-photoelectron response of 76 ps has been measured with a femtosecond UV laser at CEA/IRAMIS, while a time resolution of 24 ps with a mean yield of 10.4 photoelectrons has been measured for 150 GeV muons at… ▽ More

PICOSEC: Charged particle timing at sub-25 picosecond precision with a Micromegas based detector
Abstract: The prospect of pileup induced backgrounds at the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) has stimulated intense interest in develo** technologies for charged particle detection with accurate timing at high rates. The required accuracy follows directly from the nominal interaction distribution within a bunch crossing ($σ_z\sim5$ cm, $σ_t\sim170$ ps). A time resolution of the order of 20-30 ps would lead to… ▽ More

Exact Small Time Equivalent for the density of the Circular Langevin Diffusion
Abstract: A small time equivalent of the density is obtained for the circular analogue of the Langevin diffusion, which is strictly hypoelliptic (and non-Gaussian), hence of a different nature as the known sub-Riemannian case. The singular case, analogous to the case of conjugate points (the cut-locus problem) in the sub-Riemannian framework, is totally handled too, though much more difficultly.

Small time asymptotics for an example of strictly hypoelliptic heat kernel
Abstract: A small time asymptotics of the density is established for a simplified (non-Gaussian, strictly hypoelliptic) second chaos process tangent to the Dudley relativistic diffusion.

Nonexplosion criteria for relativistic diffusions
Abstract: Some general Lorentz covariant operators, associated to the so-called Θ(or Ξ)-relativistic diffusions and making sense in any Lorentzian manifold, have been introduced by Franchi and Le Jan [Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 60 (2007) 187-251], Franchi and Le Jan [Curvature diffusions in general relativity (2010). Unpublished manuscript]. Only a few examples have been studied so far. Curvature Diffusions in General Relativity
Abstract: We define and study on Lorentz manifolds a family of covariant diffusions in which the quadratic variation is locally determined by the curvature. This allows the interpretation of the diffusion effect on a particle by its interaction with the ambient space-time. We will focus on the case of warped products, especially Robertson-Walker manifolds, and analyse their asymptotic behaviour in the case… ▽ More

Central Limit Theorem for a Class of Relativistic Diffusions
Abstract: Two similar Minkowskian diffusions have been considered, on one hand by Barbachoux, Debbasch, Malik and Rivet ([BDR1], [BDR2], [BDR3], [DMR], [DR]), and on the other hand by Dunkel and Hänggi ([DH1], [DH2]). We address here two questions, asked in [DR] and in ([DH1], [DH2]) respectively, about the asymptotic behaviour of such diffusions. More generally, we establish a central limit theorem for a… ▽ More

Relativistic Diffusion in Gödel's Universe
Abstract: K. Gödel [G1] discovered his celebrated solution to Einstein equations in 1949. Additional contributions were made by Kundt [K] and Hawking-Ellis ([H-E],5.7). On the other hand, a general Lorentz invariant operator, associated to the so-called "relativistic diffusion'', and making sense in any Lorentz manifold, was introduced by Franchi-Le Jan in [F-LJ]. Here is purposed a first study of the rel… ▽ More

Asymptotic homology of the quotient of $PSL_2(\BR)$ by a modular group
Abstract: Consider $ G:= PSL_2(\R)\equiv T^1\H^2$, a modular group $ Γ$, and the homogeneous space $ Γ\sm G \equiv T^1(Γ\sm\H^2)$. Endow $ G $, and then $ Γ\sm G $, with a canonical left-invariant metric, thereby equip** it with a quasi hyperbolic geometry. Windings around handles and cusps of $ Γ\sm G $ are calculated by integrals of closed 1-forms of $ Γ\sm G $. The main results express, in both Brown… ▽ More

Relativistic Diffusions and Schwarzschild Geometry
Abstract: The purpose of this article is to introduce and study a relativistic motion whose acceleration, in proper time, is given by a white noise. We deal with general relativity, and consider more closely the problem of the asymptotic behaviour of paths in the Schwarzschild geometry example.

Relativistic Diffusions
Abstract: The purpose of this note is to introduce and study a relativistic motion whose acceleration, in proper time, is given by a white noise. We begin with the flat case of special relativity, continue with the case of general relativity, and finally consider more closely the example of the Schwarzschild space.
