A coupled massive Thirring model of two interacting Dirac spinors in $1+1$ dimensions with fields taking values in a Grassmann algebra is introduced, which is closely related to a SU(1,1) version of the Grassmannian Thirring model also introduced in this work. The Lax pair for the system is constructed, and its equations of motion are obtained from a zero curvature condition. It is shown that the system possesses several infinite hierarchies of conserved quantities, which strongly confirms its integrability. The model admits a canonical formulation and is invariant under space-time translations, Lorentz boosts and global U(1) gauge transformations, as well as discrete symmetries like parity and time reversal. The conserved quantities associated to the continuous symmetries are derived using Noether's theorem, and their relation to the lower-order integrals of motion is spelled out. New nonlocal integrable models are constructed through consistent nonlocal reductions between the field components of the general model. The Lagrangian, the Hamiltonian, the Lax pair and several infinite hierarchies of conserved quantities for each of these nonlocal models are obtained substituting its reduction in the expressions of the analogous quantities for the general model. It is shown that, although the Lorentz symmetry of the general model breaks down for its nonlocal reductions, these reductions remain invariant under parity, time reversal, global U(1) gauge transformations and space-time translations.

We study the thermodynamics and critical behavior of su($m$) spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type at zero chemical potential, both in the $A_{N-1}$ and $BC_N$ cases. We evaluate in closed form the free energy per spin for arbitrary values of $m$, from which we derive explicit formulas for the energy, entropy and specific heat per spin. In particular, we find that the specific heat features a single Schottky peak, whose temperature is well approximated for $m\lesssim10$ by the corresponding temperature for an $m$-level system with uniformly spaced levels. We show that at low temperatures the free energy per spin of the models under study behaves as that of a one-dimensional conformal field theory with central charge $c=m-1$ (with the only exception of the Frahm-Inozemtsev chain with zero value of its parameter). However, from a detailed study of the ground state degeneracy and the low-energy excitations, we conclude that these models are only critical in the antiferromagnetic case, with a few exceptions that we fully specify.

We study the thermodynamics and criticality of the su($m|n$) Haldane-Shastry chain of $BC_N$ type with a general chemical potential term. We first derive a complete description of the spectrum of this model in terms of $BC_N$-type motifs, from which we deduce a representation for the partition function as the trace of a product of site-dependent transfer matrices. In the thermodynamic limit, this formula yields a simple expression for the free energy per spin in terms of the Perron-Frobenius eigenvalue of the continuum limit of the transfer matrix. Evaluating this eigenvalue we obtain closed-form expressions for the thermodynamic functions of the chains with $m,n\le2$. Using the motif-based description of the spectrum derived here, we study in detail the ground state of these models and their low energy excitations. In this way we identify the critical intervals in chemical potential space and compute their corresponding Fermi velocities. By contrast with previously studied models of this type, we find in some cases two types of low energy excitations with linear energy-quasimomentum relation. Finally, we determine the central charge of all the critical phases by analyzing the low-temperature behavior of the expression for the free energy per spin.

We introduce a family of inhomogeneous XX spin chains whose squared couplings are a polynomial of degree at most four in the site index. We show how to obtain an asymptotic approximation for the Rényi entanglement entropy of all such chains in a constant magnetic field at half filling by exploiting their connection with the conformal field theory of a massless Dirac fermion in a suitably curved static background. We study the above approximation for three particular chains in the family, two of them related to well-known quasi-exactly solvable quantum models on the line and the third one to classical Krawtchouk polynomials, finding an excellent agreement with the exact value obtained numerically when the Rényi parameter $α$ is less than one. When $α\ge1$ we find parity oscillations, as expected from the homogeneous case, and show that they are very accurately reproduced by a modification of the Fagotti-Calabrese formula. We have also analyzed the asymptotic behavior of the Rényi entanglement entropy in the non-standard situation of arbitrary filling and/or inhomogeneous magnetic field. Our numerical results show that in this case a block of spins at each end of the chain becomes disentangled from the rest. Moreover, the asymptotic approximation for the case of half filling and constant magnetic field, when suitably rescaled to the region of non-vanishing entropy, provides a rough approximation to the entanglement entropy also in this general case.

We study the open version of the su$(m|n)$ supersymmetric Haldane-Shastry spin chain associated to the $BC_N$ extended root system. We first evaluate the model's partition function by modding out the dynamical degrees of freedom of the su$(m|n)$ supersymmetric spin Sutherland model of $BC_N$ type, whose spectrum we fully determine. We then construct a generalized partition function depending polynomially on two sets of variables, which yields the standard one when evaluated at a suitable point. We show that this generalized partition function can be written in terms of two variants of the classical skew super Schur polynomials, which admit a combinatorial definition in terms of a new type of skew Young tableaux and border strips (or, equivalently, extended motifs). In this way we derive a remarkable description of the spectrum in terms of this new class of extended motifs, reminiscent of the analogous one for the closed Haldane-Shastry chain. We provide several concretes examples of this description, and in particular study in detail the su$(1|1)$ model finding an analytic expression for its Helmholtz free energy in the thermodynamic limit.

We classify all such models and their associated XX chains, which include two families related to the Lamé (finite gap) quantum potential on the line. For one of these chains, we numerically compute the Rényi bipartite entanglement entropy at half filling and derive an asymptotic approximation thereof by studying the model's continuous limit, which turns out to describe a massless Dirac fermion on a suitably curved background. We show that the leading behavior of the entropy is that of a $c=1$ critical system, although there is a subleading $\log(\log N)$ correction (where $N$ is the number of sites) unusual in this type of models.

We introduce a new class of open, translationally invariant spin chains with long-range interactions depending on both spin permutation and (polarized) spin reversal operators, which includes the Haldane-Shastry chain as a particular degenerate case. The new class is characterized by the fact that the Hamiltonian is invariant under "twisted" translations, combining an ordinary translation with a spin flip at one end of the chain. It includes a remarkable model with elliptic spin-spin interactions, smoothly interpolating between the XXX Heisenberg model with anti-periodic boundary conditions and a new open chain with sites uniformly spaced on a half-circle and interactions inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the spins. We are able to compute in closed form the partition function of the latter chain, thereby obtaining a complete description of its spectrum in terms of a pair of independent su(1|1) and ${\rm su}(m/2)$ motifs when the number $m$ of internal degrees of freedom is even. This implies that the even $m$ model is invariant under the direct sum of the Yangians $Y$(gl(1|1)) and $Y$(gl$(0|m/2)$). We also analyze several statistical properties of the new chain's spectrum. In particular, we show that it is highly degenerate, which strongly suggests the existence of an underlying (twisted) Yangian symmetry also for odd $m$.

We analyze the thermodynamics and the critical behavior of the supersymmetric su($m$) $t$-$J$ model with long-range interactions. Using the transfer matrix formalism, we obtain a closed-form expression for the free energy per site both for a finite number of sites and in the thermodynamic limit. Our approach, which is different from the usual ones based on the asymptotic Bethe ansatz and generalized exclusion statistics, can in fact be applied to a large class of models whose spectrum is described in terms of supersymmetric Young tableaux and their associated Haldane motifs. In the simplest and most interesting su(2) case, we identify the five ground state phases of the model and derive the complete low-temperature asymptotic series of the free energy per site, the magnetization and charge densities, and their susceptibilities. We verify the model's characteristic spin-charge separation at low temperatures, and show that it holds to all orders in the asymptotic expansion. Using the low-temperature asymptotic expansions of the free energy, we also analyze the critical behavior of the model in each of its ground state phases. While the standard su(1|2) phase is described by two independent CFTs with central charge $c=1$ in correspondence with the spin and charge sectors, we find that the low-energy behavior of the su(2) and su(1|1) phases is that of a single $c=1$ CFT. We show that the model exhibits an even richer behavior on the boundary between zero-temperature phases, where it can be non-critical but gapless, critical in the spin sector but not in the charge one, or critical with central charge $c=3/2$.

We study the spectrum of the long-range supersymmetric su$(m)$ $t$-$J$ model of Kuramoto and Yokoyama in the presence of an external magnetic field and a charge chemical potential. To this end, we first establish the precise equivalence of a large class of models of this type to a family of su$(1|m)$ spin chains with long-range exchange interactions and a suitable chemical potential term. We exploit this equivalence to compute in closed form the partition function of the long-range $t$-$J$ model, which we then relate to that of an inhomogeneous vertex model with simple interactions. From the structure of this partition function we are able to deduce an exact formula for the restricted partition function of the long-range $t$-$J$ model in subspaces with well-defined magnon content in terms of its analogue for the equivalent vertex model. This yields a complete analytical description of the spectrum in the latter subspaces, including the precise degeneracy of each level, by means of the supersymmetric version of Haldane's motifs and their related skew Young tableaux. As an application, we determine the structure of the motifs associated with the ground state of the spin $1/2$ model in the thermodynamic limit in terms of the magnetic field strength and the charge chemical potential. This leads to a complete characterization of the distinct ground state phases, determined by their spin content, in terms of the magnetic field strength and the charge chemical potential.

The analysis of the entanglement entropy of a subsystem of a one-dimensional quantum system is a powerful tool for unravelling its critical nature. For instance, the scaling behaviour of the entanglement entropy determines the central charge of the associated Virasoro algebra. For a free fermion system, the entanglement entropy depends essentially on two sets, namely the set $A$ of sites of the subsystem considered and the set $K$ of excited momentum modes. In this work we make use of a general duality principle establishing the invariance of the entanglement entropy under exchange of the sets $A$ and $K$ to tackle complex problems by studying their dual counterparts. The duality principle is also a key ingredient in the formulation of a novel conjecture for the asymptotic behavior of the entanglement entropy of a free fermion system in the general case in which both sets $A$ and $K$ consist of an arbitrary number of blocks. We have verified that this conjecture reproduces the numerical results with excellent precision for all the configurations analyzed. We have also applied the conjecture to deduce several asymptotic formulas for the mutual and $r$-partite information generalizing the known ones for the single block case.

We show that this class includes several relevant models, with both short- and long-range interactions of a simple form. We determine the low temperature behavior of the free energy per spin, and deduce that the models considered have a critical phase in the universality class of a $(1+1)$-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT), whose central charge coincides with the number of connected components of the Fermi sea. We also study the Rényi entanglement entropy of the ground state, deriving its asymptotic behavior as the block size tends to infinity. In particular, we show that this entropy exhibits the logarithmic growth characteristic of $(1+1)$-dimensional CFTs and one-dimensional (fermionic) critical lattice models, with a central charge consistent with the low-temperature behavior of the free energy. Our results confirm the widely believed conjecture that the critical behavior of fermionic lattice models is completely determined by the topology of their Fermi surface.

We show that this class of models can be fermionized with the help of the algebraic properties of the su$(1|1)$ permutation operator, and take advantage of this fact to analyze their quantum criticality when a chemical potential term is present in the Hamiltonian. We first study the low energy excitations and the low temperature behavior of the free energy, which coincides with that of a $(1+1)$-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT) with central charge $c=1$ when the chemical potential lies in the critical interval $(0,\mathcal E(π))$, $\mathcal E(p)$ being the dispersion relation. We also analyze the von Neumann and Rényi ground state entanglement entropies, showing that they exhibit the logarithmic scaling with the size of the block of spins characteristic of a one-boson $(1+1)$-dimensional CFT. Our results thus show that the models under study are quantum critical when the chemical potential belongs to the critical interval, with central charge $c=1$. From the analysis of the fermion density at zero temperature, we also conclude that there is a quantum phase transition at both ends of the critical interval. This is further confirmed by the behavior of the fermion density at finite temperature, which is studied analytically (at low temperature), as well as numerically for the su$(1|1)$ elliptic chain.

We introduce a new class of generalized isotropic Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick models with su$(m+1)$ spin and long-range non-constant interactions, whose non-degenerate ground state is a Dicke state of su$(m+1)$ type. We evaluate in closed form the reduced density matrix of a block of $L$ spins when the whole system is in its ground state, and study the corresponding von Neumann and Rényi entanglement entropies in the thermodynamic limit. We show that both of these entropies scale as $a\log L$ when $L$ tends to infinity, where the coefficient $a$ is equal to $(m-k)/2$ in the ground state phase with $k$ vanishing su$(m+1)$ magnon densities. In particular, our results show that none of these generalized Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick models are critical, since when $L\to\infty$ their Rényi entropy $R_q$ becomes independent of the parameter $q$. We have also computed the Tsallis entanglement entropy of the ground state of these generalized su$(m+1)$ Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick models, finding that it can be made extensive by an appropriate choice of its parameter only when $m-k\ge3$. Finally, in the su$(3)$ case we construct in detail the phase diagram of the ground state in parameter space, showing that it is determined in a simple way by the weights of the fundamental representation of su$(3)$. This is also true in the su$(m+1)$ case; for instance, we prove that the region for which all the magnon densities are non-vanishing is an $(m+1)$-simplex in $\mathbf R^m$ whose vertices are the weights of the fundamental representation of su$(m+1)$.

We compute the spectrum and the partition function of the former model in closed form, from which we derive an exact formula for the chain's partition function in terms of products of partition functions of Polychronakos-Frahm spin chains of type A. Using a recursion relation for the latter partition functions that we derive in the paper, we are able to numerically evaluate the partition function, and thus the spectrum, of the D_N-type spin chain for relatively high values of the number of spins N. We analyze several global properties of the chain's spectrum, such as the asymptotic level density, the distribution of consecutive spacings of the unfolded spectrum, and the average degeneracy. We compute in closed form the minimum average degeneracy of any such model, and show that in the non-supersymmetric case it can be expressed in terms of generalized Fibonacci numbers. Using several properties of these numbers, we show that (except in the simpler su(1|1) case) the minimum average degeneracy grows exponentially with the number of spins. We apply our results to several well-known spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type, quantitatively showing that their degree of degeneracy is much higher than expected for a generic Yangian-invariant spin model. Finally, we show that the set of distinct levels of a Yangian-invariant spin model is described by an effective model of quasi-particles. We study this effective model, discussing its connections to one-dimensional anyons and properties of generalized Fibonacci numbers.

We solve in closed form the simplest (su(1|1)) supersymmetric version of Inozemtsev's elliptic spin chain, as well as its infinite (hyperbolic) counterpart. The solution relies on the equivalence of these models to a system of free spinless fermions, and on the exact computation of the Fourier transform of the resulting elliptic hop** amplitude. We also compute the thermodynamic functions of the finite (elliptic) chain and their low temperature limit, and show that the energy levels become normally distributed in the thermodynamic limit. Our results indicate that at low temperatures the su(1|1) elliptic chain behaves as a critical XX model, and deviates in an essential way from the Haldane-Shastry chain.

The aim of this paper is studying from an alternative point of view the integrability of the spin chain with long-range elliptic interactions introduced by Inozemtsev. Our analysis relies on some well-established conjectures characterizing the chaotic vs. integrable behavior of a quantum system, formulated in terms of statistical properties of its spectrum. More precisely, we study the distribution of consecutive levels of the (unfolded) spectrum, the power spectrum of the spectral fluctuations, the average degeneracy, and the equivalence to a classical vertex model. Our results are consistent with the general consensus that this model is integrable, and that it is closer in this respect to the Heisenberg chain than to its trigonometric limit (the Haldane-Shastry chain). On the other hand, we present some numerical and analytical evidence showing that the level density of Inozemtsev's chain is asymptotically Gaussian as the number of spins tends to infinity, as is the case with the Haldane-Shastry chain. We are also able to compute analytically the mean and the standard deviation of the spectrum, showing that their asymptotic behavior coincides with that of the Haldane-Shastry chain.

By studying the large coupling constant limit of this model and of its scalar counterpart, we evaluate the partition function of their associated spin chain of Haldane-Shastry type in closed form. With the help of the formula for the partition function thus obtained we study the chain's spectrum, showing that it cannot be obtained as a limiting case of its BC_N counterpart. The structure of the partition function also suggests that the spectrum of the Haldane-Shastry spin chain of B_N type is equivalent to that of a suitable vertex model, as is the case for its A_{N-1} counterpart, and that the density of its eigenvalues is normally distributed when the number of sites N tends to infinity. We analyze this last conjecture numerically using again the explicit formula for the partition function, and check its validity for several values of N and m.

We study the thermodynamic properties of spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type associated with the A_{N-1} root system in the presence of a uniform external magnetic field. To this end, we exactly compute the partition function of these models for an arbitrary finite number of spins. We then show that these chains are equivalent to a suitable inhomogeneous classical Ising model in a spatially dependent magnetic field, generalizing the results of Basu-Mallick et al. for thezero magnetic field case. Using the standard transfer matrix approach, we are able to compute in closed form the free energy per site in the thermodynamic limit. We perform a detailed analysis of the chains' thermodynamics in a unified way, with special emphasis on the zero field and zero temperature limits. Finally, we provide a novel interpretation of the thermodynamic quantities of spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type as weighted averages of the analogous quantities over an ensemble of classical Ising models.

In this paper we study the su(m) spin Sutherland (trigonometric) model of D_N type and its related spin chain of Haldane-Shastry type obtained by means of Polychronakos's freezing trick. As in the rational case recently studied by the authors, we show that these are new models, whose properties cannot be simply deduced from those of their well-known BC_N counterparts by taking a suitable limit. We identify the Weyl-invariant extended configuration space of the spin dynamical model, which turns out to be the N-dimensional generalization of a rhombic dodecahedron. This is in fact one of the reasons underlying the greater complexity of the models studied in this paper in comparison with both their rational and BC_N counterparts. By constructing a non-orthogonal basis of the Hilbert space of the spin dynamical model on which its Hamiltonian acts triangularly, we compute its spectrum in closed form. Using this result and applying the freezing trick, we derive an exact expression for the partition function of the associated Haldane-Shastry spin chain of D_N type.

According to this test, the fluctuations of a fully chaotic system should exhibit 1/f noise, whereas for an integrable system this noise should obey the 1/f^2 power law. In this letter, we show that there is a family of well-known integrable systems, namely spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type, whose spectral fluctuations decay instead as 1/f^4. We present a simple theoretical justification of this fact, and propose an alternative characterization of quantum chaos versus integrability formulated directly in terms of the power spectrum of the spacings of the unfolded spectrum.

We construct a new exactly solvable supersymmetric spin chain related to the BC_N extended root system, which includes as a particular case the BC_N version of the Polychronakos-Frahm spin chain. We also introduce a supersymmetric spin dynamical model of Calogero type which yields the new chain in the large coupling limit. This connection is exploited to derive two different closed-form expressions for the chain's partition function by means of Polychronakos's freezing trick. We establish a boson-fermion duality relation for the new chain's spectrum, which is in fact valid for a large class of (not necessarily integrable) spin chains of BC_N type. The exact expressions for the partition function are also used to study the chain's spectrum as a whole, showing that the level density is normally distributed even for a moderately large number of particles. We also determine a simple analytic approximation to the distribution of normalized spacings between consecutive levels which fits the numerical data with remarkable accuracy. Our results provide further evidence that spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type are exceptional integrable models, in the sense that their spacings distribution is not Poissonian, as posited by the Berry-Tabor conjecture for "generic'' quantum integrable systems.

In contrast, the spacings distribution of chaotic systems typically follows Wigner's law. An important exception to the Berry-Tabor conjecture is the integrable spin chain with long-range interactions introduced by Haldane and Shastry in 1988, whose spacings distribution is neither Poissonian nor of Wigner's type. In this letter we argue that the cumulative spacings distribution of this chain should follow the "square root of a logarithm'' law recently proposed by us as a characteristic feature of all spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type. We also show in detail that the latter law is valid for the rational counterpart of the Haldane-Shastry chain introduced by Polychronakos.

We compute the partition function of the su(m) Polychronakos-Frahm spin chain of BC_N type by means of the freezing trick. We use this partition function to study several statistical properties of the spectrum, which turn out to be analogous to those of other spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type. In particular, we find that when the number of particles is sufficiently large the level density follows a Gaussian distribution with great accuracy. We also show that the distribution of (normalized) spacings between consecutive levels is of neither Poisson nor Wigner type, but is qualitatively similar to that of the original Haldane-Shastry spin chain. This suggests that spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type are exceptional integrable models, since they do not satisfy a well-known conjecture of Berry and Tabor according to which the spacings distribution of a generic integrable system should be Poissonian. We derive a simple analytic expression for the cumulative spacings distribution of the BC_N-type Polychronakos-Frahm chain using only a few essential properties of its spectrum, like the Gaussian character of the level density and the fact the energy levels are equally spaced. This expression is in excellent agreement with the numerical data and, moreover, there is strong evidence that it can also be applied to the Haldane-Shastry and the Polychronakos-Frahm spin chains.

In this paper we study a novel spin chain with nearest-neighbors interactions depending on the sites coordinates, which in some sense is intermediate between the Heisenberg chain and the spin chains of Haldane-Shastry type. We show that when the number of spins is sufficiently large both the density of sites and the strength of the interaction between consecutive spins follow the Gaussian law. We develop an extension of the standard freezing trick argument that enables us to exactly compute a certain number of eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenfunctions. The eigenvalues thus computed are all integers, and in fact our numerical studies evidence that these are the only integer eigenvalues of the chain under consideration. This fact suggests that this chain can be regarded as a finite-dimensional analog of the class of quasi-exactly solvable Schroedinger operators, which has been extensively studied in the last two decades. We have applied the method of moments to study some statistical properties of the chain's spectrum, showing in particular that the density of eigenvalues follows a Wigner-like law. Finally, we emphasize that, unlike the original freezing trick, the extension thereof developed in this paper can be applied to spin chains whose associated dynamical spin model is only quasi-exactly solvable.

Our approach is based on the introduction of two new families of Dunkl operators of B_N type which, together with the original B_N-type Dunkl operators, are shown to preserve certain polynomial subspaces of finite dimension. We prove that a wide class of quadratic combinations involving these three sets of Dunkl operators always yields a spin Calogero-Sutherland model, which is (quasi-)exactly solvable by construction. We show that all the spin Calogero-Sutherland models obtainable within this framework can be expressed in a unified way in terms of a Weierstrass P function with suitable half-periods. This provides a natural spin counterpart of the well-known general formula for a scalar completely integrable potential of BC_N type due to Olshanetsky and Perelomov. As an illustration of our method, we exactly compute several energy levels and their corresponding wavefunctions of an elliptic quasi-exactly solvable potential for two and three particles of spin 1/2.

Abstract:
We show that the most general inflaton potential in Minkowski spacetime for which the differential equation for the Fourier modes of the matter fields reduces to Lamé's equation is of the form $V(φ)= λφ^4/4+Kφ^2/2+μ/(2φ^2)+V_0$. As an application, we study the preheating phase after inflation for the above potential with K=0 and arbitrary $λ,μ>0$. For certain values of the coupling constant betw…

For certain values of the coupling constant between the inflaton and the matter fields, we calculate the instability intervals and the characteristic exponents in closed form.

Abstract:
We show that there are two different families of (weakly) orthogonal polynomials associated to the quasi-exactly solvable Razavy potential $V(x)=(\z \cosh 2x-M)^2$ ($\z>0$, $M\in\mathbf N$). One of these families encompasses the four sets of orthogonal polynomials recently found by Khare and Mandal, while the other one is new. These results are extended to the related periodic potential…

These results are extended to the related periodic potential $U(x)=-(\z \cos 2x -M)^2$, for which we also construct two different families of weakly orthogonal polynomials. We prove that either of these two families yields the ground state (when $M$ is odd) and the lowest lying gaps in the energy spectrum of the latter periodic potential up to and including the $(M-1)^{\rm th}$ gap and having the same parity as $M-1$. Moreover, we show that the algebraic eigenfunctions obtained in this way are the well-known finite solutions of the Whittaker--Hill (or Hill's three-term) periodic differential equation. Thus, the foregoing results provide a Lie-algebraic justification of the fact that the Whittaker--Hill equation (unlike, for instance, Mathieu's equation) admits finite solutions.

In this paper we point out a close connection between the Darboux transformation and the group of point transformations which preserve the form of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE). In our main result, we prove that any pair of time-dependent real potentials related by a Darboux transformation for the TDSE may be transformed by a suitable point transformation into a pair of time-independent potentials related by a usual Darboux transformation for the stationary Schrödinger equation. Thus, any (real) potential solvable via a time-dependent Darboux transformation can alternatively be solved by applying an appropriate form-preserving transformation of the TDSE to a time-independent potential. The preeminent role of the latter type of transformations in the solution of the TDSE is illustrated with a family of quasi-exactly solvable time-dependent anharmonic potentials.

In this paper, we study Lie superalgebras of $2\times 2$ matrix-valued first-order differential operators on the complex line. We first completely classify all such superalgebras of finite dimension. Among the finite-dimensional superalgebras whose odd subspace is nontrivial, we find those admitting a finite-dimensional invariant module of smooth vector-valued functions, and classify all the resulting finite-dimensional modules. The latter Lie superalgebras and their modules are the building blocks in the construction of QES quantum mechanical models for spin 1/2 particles in one dimension.
