This research explores the effects of decoherence on local quantum Fisher information and quantum coherence dynamics in a spin-1/2 Ising-XYZ chain model with independent reservoirs at zero temperature. Contrasting these effects with those in the spin-1/2 Heisenberg XYZ model reveals intricate interactions among quantum coherence, entanglement, and environmental decoherence in spin systems. Analysis of coherence dynamics highlights differences between the original and hybrid models, showcasing increased entanglement due to Ising interactions alongside reduced coherence from environmental redistribution. The local quantum Fisher information proves more resilient than coherence in specific scenarios, emphasizing decoherence is varying impacts on quantum correlations. This research underscores the complexity of quantum coherence dynamics and the crucial role of environmental factors in sha** quantum correlations, providing insights into entanglement and coherence behavior under environmental influences and guiding future studies in quantum information processing and correlation dynamics.

In some cases, the class of metamaterials that may be useful for this observation has a Klein instead of a Minkowski signature. Thus, confirmation of this effect in those materials requires more careful analysis. In this paper, we use the path integral formulation of Quantum Field Theory to investigate the analogous to the Unruh effect in Kleinian geometry. We calculate the analogous of the Unruh temperature for a scalar theory, provided we restrict the action in a convenient subspace of the Kleinian spacetime. As a consequence, we obtain the diamond temperature for a static observer with a finite lifetime. The result suggest metamaterials as a possible system to observe diamond regions.

We show that due to both the energy quantization on this structure and the adiabatic transformation of the number of complete twists per unit length of a helicoid, the machine performance in terms of output work, efficiency, and operation mode can be altered. We consider the deformations as in a spring, which is either compressed or stretched from its resting position. The realization of classically inconceivable Otto machines with an incompressible sample can be realized as well. The energy-level spacing of the system is the quantity that is being either compressed or stretched. These features are due to the existence of an effective geometry-induced quantum potential which is of pure quantum-mechanical origin.

This work investigates the motion of a non-relativistic charged particle within the spacetime of a global monopole. We introduce the Schrödinger equation to describe the particle's motion with two interactions by considering the Kratzer and the screened modified Kratzer potential. The problem's eigenfunctions and eigenvalues are obtained by deriving and solving the radial equation. The effective potential encompasses both the Kratzer and electrostatic self-interaction potential and leads to bound states solutions. The energy spectrum is investigated, particularly emphasizing its dependence on the system's physical parameters. The screened modified Kratzer potential and the screened self-interaction potential reveal an important role in influencing both the effective potential and the energy spectrum. Additionally, it also accommodates the existence of bound states. All these behaviors are illustrated with graphs and discussed in detail.

This work presents a study on the nonrelativistic quantum motion of a charged particle in a rotating frame, considering the Aharonov-Bohm effect and a uniform magnetic field. We derive the equation of motion and the corresponding radial equation to describe the system. The Schrödinger equation with minimal coupling incorporates rotation effects by substituting the momentum operator with an effective four-potential. Additionally, a radial potential term, dependent on the average radius of the ring, is introduced. The analysis is restricted to motion in a two-dimensional plane, neglecting the degree of freedom in the $z$-direction. By solving the radial equation, we determine the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, allowing for an explicit expression of the energy. The probability distribution is analyzed for varying rotating parameter values, revealing a shift of the distribution as the rotation changes, resulting in a centrifugal effect and occupation of the ring's edges. Furthermore, numerical analysis demonstrates the significant rotational effects on energy levels and optical properties, including optical absorption and refractive coefficients.

In this work, we investigate the thermal quantum correlations in two coupled double semiconductor charge qubits. This is carried out by deriving analytical expressions for both the thermal concurrence and the correlated coherence. We study, in detail, the effects of the tunneling parameters, the Coulomb interaction and the temperature on the thermal entanglement and on the correlated coherence. It is found that the Coulomb potential plays an important role in the thermal entanglement and in the correlated coherence of the system. The results also indicate that the Coulomb potential can be used for significant enhancement of the thermal entanglement and quantum coherence. One interesting aspect is that the correlated coherence capture all the thermal entanglement at low temperatures, i.e, the local coherences are totally transferred to the thermal entanglement. Finally, we focus on the role played by thermal entanglement and the correlated coherence responsible for quantum correlations. We show that in all cases, the correlated coherence is more robust than the thermal entanglement so that quantum algorithms based only on correlated coherence may be more robust than those based on entanglement. Our results also show that the entanglement can be tuned by varying the Coulomb interaction between electrons.

We study the model of a noninteracting spinless electron gas confined to the two-dimensional localized surface of a cone in the presence of external magnetic fields. The localized region is characterized by an annular radial potential. We write the Schrödinger equation and use the thin-layer quantization procedure to calculate the wavefunctions and the energy spectrum. In such a procedure, it arises a geometry induced potential, which depends on both the mean and the Gaussian curvatures. Nevertheless, since we consider a ring with a mesoscopic size, the effects of the Gaussian curvature on the energy spectrum are negligible. The magnetization and the persistent current are analyzed. In the former, we observed the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) and de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) types oscillations. In the latter, it is observed only the AB type oscillations. In both cases, the curvature increases the amplitude of the oscillations.

The effects of surface curvature on the motion of electrons in a mesoscopic two-dimensional ring on a cone in the presence of external magnetic fields are examined. The approach follows the thin-layer quantization procedure, which gives rise to a geometry induced potential. Due to the annular geometric shape of the sample, only the mean curvature has relevant effects to the model. Nevertheless, the most significant contribution of the mean curvature occurs in the state $m=0$, which tends to decrease the energies when the magnetic field is null. The effects of curvature are also manifested in the cyclotron frequency as well as in the effective angular momentum through the $α$ parameter, which can be controlled in such a way that the magnitude of these effects becomes explicit. This is verified in the energies and wave functions of the system. A decrease in the number of occupied states in the Fermi energy is observed. As a consequence, there is an alteration in the radial range of the conducting region of the sample. This fact is confirmed by studying the variations in the radii of the states.

The effects of an impurity plaquette on the thermal quantum correlations measurement by the concurrence, on the quantum coherence quantified by the recently proposed $l_{1}$-norm of coherence and on the quantum teleportation in a Ising-$XXZ$ diamond chain are discussed. Such an impurity is formed by the XXZ interaction between the interstitial Heisenberg dimers and the nearest-neighbor Ising coupling between the nodal and interstitial spins. All the interaction parameters are different from those of the rest of the chain. By tailoring them, the quantum entanglement and quantum coherence can be controlled and tuned. Therefore, the quantum resources -- thermal entanglement and quantum coherence -- of the model exhibit a clear performance improvement in comparison to the original model without impurities. We also demonstrate that the quantum teleportation can be tuned by its inclusion. The thermal teleportation is modified in significant way as well, and a strong increase in average fidelity is observed. We furnish the exact solution by the use of the transfer-matrix method.

In this work, we use the thin-layer quantization procedure to study the physical implications due to curvature effects on a quantum dot in the presence of an external magnetic field. Among the various physical implications due to the curvature of the system, we can mention the absence of the $m=0$ state is the most relevant one. The absence of it affects the Fermi energy and consequently the thermodynamic properties of the system. In the absence of magnetic fields, we verify that the rotational symmetry in the lateral confinement is preserved in the electronic states of the system and its degeneracy with respect to the harmonicity of the confining potential is broken. In the presence of a magnetic field, however, the energies of the electronic states in a quantum dot with a curvature are greater than those obtained for a quantum dot in a flat space, and the profile of degeneracy changes when the field is varied. We show that the curvature of the surface modifies the number of subbands occupied in the Fermi energy. In the study of both magnetization and persistent currents, we observe that Aharonov-Bohm-type (AB-type) oscillations are present, whereas de Haas-van Alphen-type (dHvA) oscillations are not well defined.

The Dirac equation with both scalar and vector couplings describing the dynamics of a two-dimensional Dirac oscillator in the cosmic string spacetime is considered. We derive the Dirac-Pauli equation and solve it in the limit of the spin and the pseudo-spin symmetries. We analyze the presence of cylindrical symmetric scalar potentials which allows us to provide analytic solutions for the resultant field equation. By using an appropriate ansatz, we find that the radial equation is a biconfluent Heun-like differential equation. The solution of this equation provides us with more than one expression for the energy eigenvalues of the oscillator. We investigate these energies and find that there is a quantum condition between them. We study this condition in detail and find that it requires the fixation of one of the physical parameters involved in the problem. Expressions for the energy of the oscillator are obtained for some values of the quantum number $n$. Some particular cases which lead to known physical systems are also addressed.

In this work, we investigate the electronic transport properties of curved two-dimensional quantum systems with a position-dependent mass (PDM). We found the Schrödinger equation for a general surface following the da Costa approach, obtaining the geometrical potential for systems with PDM. We obtained expressions for the transmittance and reflectance for a general surface of revolution. As a first application of the general results obtained here, we investigate the transport properties of deformed nanotubes, since the variation of the effective mass with the radius of the nanotubes has been dis-considered in previous studies of this system and experimentally a change of the effective mass is observed for different radii. We found that the inclusion of the position-dependent mass, particularly a radial change in the mass distribution, can induce a significant change in the transport properties of the system, which reveals that the transport properties of two dimensional quantum systems are sensitive to the PDM and when modeling electronic transport in surfaces this effects should be considered.

In the da Costa's thin-layer approach, a quantum particle moving in a 3D sample is confined on a curved thin interface. At the end, the interface effects are ignored and such quantum particle is localized on a curved surface. A geometric potential arises and, since it manifests due to this confinement procedure, it depends on the transverse to the surface mass component. This inspired us to consider, in this paper, the effects due to an anisotropic effective mass on a non-interacting two dimensional electron gas confined on a curved surface, a fact not explored before in this context. By tailoring the mass, many investigations carried out in the literature can be improved which in turns can be useful to better designing electronic systems without modifying the geometry of a given system. Some examples are examined here, as a particle on helicoidal surface, on a cylinder, on a catenoid and on a cone, with some possible applications briefly discussed.

In this work, we study the effects of torsion due to a uniform distribution of topological defects (screw dislocations) on free spin/carrier dynamics in elastic solids. When a particle moves in such a medium, the effect of the torsion associated to the defect distribution is analogous to that of an applied magnetic field but with subtle differences. Analogue Landau levels are present in this system but they cannot be confined to two dimensions. In the case of spinless carriers, zero modes, which do not appear in the magnetic Landau levels, show up for quantized values of the linear momentum projected on the defects axis. Particles with spin are subjected to a Zeeman-like coupling between spin and torsion, which is insensitive to charge. This suggests the possibility of spin resonance experiments without a magnetic field for charged carriers or quasiparticles without electrical charge, like triplet excitons, for instance.

The effect of an Aharonov-Bohm (AB) pseudo magnetic field on a two dimensional electron gas in graphene is investigated. We consider it modeled as in the usual AB effect but since such pseudo field is supposed to be induced by elastic deformations, the quantization of the field flux is abandoned. For certain constraints on the orbital angular momentum eigenvalues allowed for the system, we can observe the zero Landau level failing to develop, due to the degeneracy related to the Dirac valleys $K$ and $K^\prime$ which is broken. For integer values of the pseudo AB flux, the actual quantum Hall effect is preserved. Obtaining the Hall conductivity by summing over all orbital angular momentum eigenvalues, the zero Landau levels is recovered. Since our problem is closed related to the case where topological defects on a graphene sheet are present, the questions posed here are helpful if one is interested to probe the effects of a singular curvature in these systems.

Expressions for the modified phase shift, S--matrix and scattering amplitude are determined by applying a suitable boundary condition at the origin, which comes from the self-adjoint extension theory. We also discuss the presence of a bound state obtained from the pole of the S--matrix. We investigate the modifications due to the screw dislocation on the light interband absorption coefficient and absorption threshold frequency. Two scenarios are possible, depending on if singular effects either manifest or not. We found that as the Burgers vector increases, the curves of frequency are pushed up towards of the growth of it. One interesting aspect which we have observed is that the Aharonov-Bohm flux can be tuned in order to cancel the screw effect of the model.

Due to the presence of the Dirac delta function, by applying an appropriated boundary condition provided by the theory of self--adjoint extensions, irregular solutions for the Hamiltonian are allowed. We address the scattering problem obtaining the phase shift, S-matrix and the scattering amplitude. The scattering amplitude obtained shows a dependency with energy which stems from the fact that the helicity is not conserved in this system. Examining the poles of the S-matrix we obtain an expression for the bound states. The presence of bound states for this system has not been discussed before in the literature.

In this work an application of the $κ$--deformed algebra in condensed matter physics is presented. Starting by the $κ$--deformed Dirac equation we study the relativistic generalization of the $κ$--deformed Landau levels as well as the consequences of the deformation on the Hall conductivity. By comparing the $κ$--deformed Landau levels in the nonrelativistic regime with the energy levels of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in the presence of a normal magnetic field, upper bounds for the deformation parameter in different materials are established. An expression for the $κ$--deformed Hall conductivity of a 2DEG is obtained as well. The expression recovers the well-known result for the usual Hall conductivity in the limit $\varepsilon=κ^{-1}\to 0$. The deformation parameter breaks the Landau levels degeneracy and due to this, it is observed that deformation gives rise to new plateaus of conductivity in a such way that the plateaus widths of the $κ$--deformed Hall conductivity are less than the usual one. By studying the temperature dependence of the $κ$--deformed Hall conductivity, we show that an increase of the temperature causes the smearing of the plateaus and a diminution of the effect of the deformation, whilst an increase in the magnetic field enhances the effect of the deformation.

The planar quantum dynamics of spin-1/2 neutral particle interacting with electrical fields is considered. A set of first order differential equations are obtained directly from the planar Dirac equation with nonminimum coupling. New solutions of this system, in particular, for the Aharonov-Casher effect, are found and discussed in detail. Pauli equation is also obtained by studying the motion of the particle when it describes a circular path of constant radius. We also analyze the planar dynamics in the full space, including the $r=0$ region. The self-adjoint extension method is used to obtain the energy levels and wave functions of the particle for two particular values for the self-adjoint extension parameter. The energy levels obtained are analogous to the Landau levels and explicitly depend on the spin projection parameter.

More precisely, we investigate how both the geometry and the deformed potential due to a lattice distortion affect the Landau levels of such system. The case showing the deformed potential can be thought in the context of 3D common semiconductors where the electrons are confined on a cylindrical shell. We will show that important quantitative differences exist due to this lattice distortion. For instance, the effective cyclotron frequency is diminished by the deformed potential, which in turn enhances the Hall conductivity.

The nonrelativistic quantum dynamics of a spinless charged particle in the presence of the Aharonov--Bohm potential in curved space is considered. We chose the surface as being a cone defined by a line element in polar coordinates. The geometry of this line element establishes that the motion of the particle can occur on the surface of a cone or an anti--cone. As a consequence of the nontrivial topology of the cone and also because of two--dimensional confinement, the geometric potential should be taken into account. At first, we establish the conditions for the particle describing a circular path in such a context. Because of the presence of the geometric potential, which contains a singular term, we use the self--adjoint extension method in order to describe the dynamics in all space including the singularity. Expressions are obtained for the bound state energies and wave functions.

In this work we obtain the Landau levels and the Hall conductivity at zero temperature of a two-dimensional electron gas on a conical surface. We investigate the integer quantum Hall effect considering two different approaches. The first one is an extrinsic approach which employs an effective scalar potential that contains both the Gaussian and the mean curvature of the surface. The second one, an intrinsic approach where the Gaussian curvature is the sole term in the scalar curvature potential. From a theoretical point of view, the singular Gaussian curvature of the cone may affect the wave functions and the respective Landau levels. Since this problem requests {\it self-adjoint extensions}, we investigate how the conical tip could influence the integer quantum Hall effect, comparing with the case were the coupling between the wave functions and the conical tip is ignored. This last case corresponds to the so-called {\it Friedrichs extension}. In all cases, the Hall conductivity is enhanced by the conical geometry depending on the opening angle. There are a considerable number of theoretical papers concerned with the self-adjoint extensions on a cone and now we hope the work addressed here inspires experimental investigation on these questions about quantum dynamics on a cone.

The effect of a varying pseudo-magnetic field, which falls as $1/x^2$, on a two dimensional electron gas in graphene is investigated. By considering the second order Dirac equation, we show that its correct general solution is that which might present singular wavefunctions since such field induced by elastic deformations diverges as $x\rightarrow0$. We show that only this consideration yields the known relativistic Landau levels when we remove such elastic field. We have observed that the zero Landau level fails to develop for certain values of it. We then speculate about the consequences of these facts to the quantum Hall effect on graphene. We also analyze the changes in the relativistic cyclotron frequency. We hope our work being probed in these contexts, since graphene has great potential for electronic applications.

By using the self-adjoint extension method we found that there is an additional scattering for any value of the self-adjoint extension parameter and non-zero energy bound states for negative values of this parameter. Expressions for the energy bound states, phase-shift and the scattering matrix are explicitly determined in terms of the self-adjoint extension parameter. The expression obtained for the scattering amplitude reveals that the helicity is not conserved in this scenario.

The main result is that, in contrast with previous works, the Landau analog levels only exist if these radial magnetic and electric external fields are proportional to the third power of distance, not proportional to the distance. We derive the wave functions and the energy levels in the context of commutative and non-commutative quantum mechanics. We also show that, in the case of non-commutative phase space, these harmonic oscillator like spectrum do exist even if there is no external radial magnetic and electric fields. They are only consequence of the non-commutativity in the momenta.

In this paper we investigate the bound state problem of nonrelativistic quantum particles on a conical surface. This kind of surface appears as a topological defect in ordinary semiconductors as well as in graphene sheets. Specifically, we compare and discuss the results stemming from two different approaches. In the first one, it is assumed that the charge carriers are bound to the surface by a constraining potential, while the second one is based on the Klein-Gordon type equation on surfaces, without the constraining potential. The main difference between both theories is the presence/absence of a potential which contains the mean curvature of a given surface. This fact changes the dependence of the bound states on the angular momentum $l$. Moreover, there are bound states that are absent in the Klein-Gordon theory, which instead appear in the Schrödinger one.

In this work bound states for the Aharonov-Casher problem are considered. According to Hagen's work on the exact equivalence between spin-1/2 Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects, is known that the $\boldsymbol{\nabla}\cdot\mathbf{E}$ term cannot be neglected in the Hamiltonian if the spin of particle is considered. This term leads to the existence of a singular potential at the origin. By modeling the problem by boundary conditions at the origin which arises by the self-adjoint extension of the Hamiltonian, we derive for the first time an expression for the bound state energy of the Aharonov-Casher problem. As an application, we consider the Aharonov-Casher plus a two-dimensional harmonic oscillator. We derive the expression for the harmonic oscillator energies and compare it with the expression obtained in the case without singularity. At the end, an approach for determination of the self-adjoint extension parameter is given. In our approach, the parameter is obtained essentially in terms of physics of the problem.

A quantum neutral particle, constrained to move on a conical surface, is used as a toy model to explore bound states due to both a inverse squared distance potential and a $δ$-function potential, which appear naturally in the model. These pathological potentials are treated with the self-adjoint extension method which yields the correct boundary condition (not necessarily a null wavefunction) at the origin. We show that the usual boundary condition requiring that the wavefunction vanishes at the origin is arbitrary and drastically reduces the number of bound states if used. The situation studied here is closely related to the problem of a dipole moving in conical space.

To study noncommutativity properties of the open string with constant B-field we construct a mechanical action which reproduces classical dynamics of the string sector under consideration. It allows one to apply the Dirac quantization procedure for constrained systems in a direct and unambiguous way. The mechanical action turns out to be the first order system without taking the strong field limit $B\longrightarrow\infty$. In particular, it is true for zero mode of the string coordinate which means that the noncommutativity is intrinsic property of this mechanical system. We describe the arbitrariness in the relation existent between the mechanical and the string variables and show that noncommutativity of the string variables on the boundary can be removed. It is in correspondence with the result of Seiberg and Witten on relation among noncommutative and ordinary Yang-Mills theories. The recently developed soldering formalism helps us to establish a connection between the original open string action and the Polyakov action.
