Search for invisible decays of $ω$ and $φ$ with $J/ψ$ data at BESIII

Abstract: Using a data sample of $(1310.6 \pm 7.0)\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we perform the first experimental search for invisible decays of a light vector meson ($V=ω,φ$) via $J/ψ\to V η$ decays. The decay of $η\to π^+π^-π^0$ is utilized to tag the $V$ meson decaying into the invisible final state. No evidence for a significant invisible… ▽ More Using a data sample of $(1310.6 \pm 7.0)\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we perform the first experimental search for invisible decays of a light vector meson ($V=ω,φ$) via $J/ψ\to V η$ decays. The decay of $η\to π^+π^-π^0$ is utilized to tag the $V$ meson decaying into the invisible final state. No evidence for a significant invisible signal is observed, and the upper limits on the ratio of branching fractions at the 90\% confidence level are determined to be $\frac{\mathcal{B}(ω\rightarrow \rm{invisible})}{\mathcal{B}(ω\to π^+π^-π^0)} < 8.1 \times 10^{-5}$ and $\frac{\mathcal{B}(φ\to \rm{invisible})}{\mathcal{B}(φ\to K^+K^-)} < 3.4\times 10^{-4}$. By using the world average values of $\mathcal{B}(ω\to π^+π^-π^0)$ and $\mathcal{B}(φ\to K^+K^-)$, the upper limits on the decay branching fractions at the $90\%$ confidence level are set as $\mathcal{B}(ω\to \rm{invisible})< 7.3 \times 10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}(φ\to \rm{invisible})< 1.7\times 10^{-4}$, respectively. △ Less

Beam-Target Helicity Asymmetry $E$ in $K^{0}Λ$ and $K^{0}Σ^0$ Photoproduction on the Neutron

Abstract: We report the first measurements of the $E$ beam-target helicity asymmetry for the $\vecγ \vec{n} \to K^{0}Λ$, and $K^{0}Σ^{0}$ channels in the energy range 1.70$\leq W\leq$2.34 GeV. The CLAS system at Jefferson Lab uses a circularly polarized photon beam and a target consisting of longitudinally polarized solid molecular hydrogen deuteride with low background contamination for the measurements. Observation of $h_1(1380)$ in the $J/ψ\to η^{\prime} K\bar K π$ Decay

Abstract: Using $1.31 \times 10^9$ $J/ψ$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII $e^+e^-$ collider, we report the first observation of the $h_1(1380)$ in $J/ψ\to η^{\prime} h_1(1380)$ with a significance of more than ten standard deviations. The product branching fractions, assuming no interference, are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to η^{\prime}h_1(1380)) \times \mathcal{B}(h_1(1380) \to K^{*}(892)^{+} K^{-} +c.c.) = (1.51 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.21) \times 10^{-4}$ in $η^{\prime}K^+K^-π^0$ mode and $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to η^{\prime}h_1(1380)) \times \mathcal{B}(h_1(1380) \to K^{*}(892)\bar K +c.c.) = (2.16 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.29) \times 10^{-4}$ in $η^{\prime}K_S^0K^{\pm}π^{\mp}$ mode. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Isospin symmetry violation is observed in the decays $h_1(1380) \to K^{*}(892)^{+} K^{-} +c.c.$ and $h_1(1380) \to K^{*}(892)^{0}\bar K^{0} +c.c.$. Based on the measured $h_1(1380)$ mass, the mixing angle between the states $h_1(1170)$ and $h_1(1380)$ is determined to be $(35.9\pm2.6)^{\circ}$, consistent with theoretical expectations. △ Less

Observation of $ψ(3686) \to η' e^+ e^- $

Abstract: We report new measurements of the cross sections for the production of D Dbar final states at the psi(3770) resonance. Our data sample consists of an integrated luminosity of 2.93/fb of e+e- annihilation data produced by the BEPCII collider and collected and analyzed with the BESIII detector. We exclusively reconstruct three D0 and six D+ hadronic decay modes and use the ratio of the yield of full… ▽ More We report new measurements of the cross sections for the production of D Dbar final states at the psi(3770) resonance. Our data sample consists of an integrated luminosity of 2.93/fb of e+e- annihilation data produced by the BEPCII collider and collected and analyzed with the BESIII detector. We exclusively reconstruct three D0 and six D+ hadronic decay modes and use the ratio of the yield of fully reconstructed D Dbar events ("double tags") to the yield of all reconstructed D or Dbar mesons ("single tags") to determine the number of D0 D0bar and D+D- events, benefiting from the cancellation of many systematic uncertainties. Combining these yields with an independent determination of the integrated luminosity of the data sample, we find the cross sections to be σ(e+e- --> D0 D0bar)=(3.615 +- 0.010 +- 0.038) nb and σ(e+e- --> D+D-)=(2.830 +- 0.011 +- 0.026) nb, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. △ Less

Abstract: Using an $e^+e^-$ collision data sample of 2.93 fb$^{-1}$ collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we report the observation of $D^0 \to a_0(980)^- e^+ ν_e$ and evidence for $D^+ \to a_0(980)^0 e^+ ν_e~$ with significances of $6.4σ$ and $2.9σ$, respectively. Abstract: We observe the decay $ψ(3686) \to n \bar{n}$ for the first time and measure $ψ(3686) \to p \bar{p}$ with improved accuracy by using $1.07\times 10^8$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector. H.E.S.S. discovery of very high energy gamma-ray emission from PKS 0625-354

Abstract: PKS 0625-354 (z=0.055) was observed with the four H.E.S.S. telescopes in 2012 during 5.5 hours. The source was detected above an energy threshold of 200 GeV at a significance level of 6.1$σ$. No significant variability is found in these observations. The source is well described with a power-law spectrum with photon index $Γ =2.84 \pm 0.50_{stat} \pm 0.10_{syst}$ and normalization (at $E_0$=1.0 Te… ▽ More PKS 0625-354 (z=0.055) was observed with the four H.E.S.S. telescopes in 2012 during 5.5 hours. The source was detected above an energy threshold of 200 GeV at a significance level of 6.1$σ$. No significant variability is found in these observations. The source is well described with a power-law spectrum with photon index $Γ =2.84 \pm 0.50_{stat} \pm 0.10_{syst}$ and normalization (at $E_0$=1.0 TeV) $N_0(E_0)=(0.58 \pm 0.22_{stat} \pm 0.12_{syst})\times10^{-12}$ TeV$^{-1}$cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$. Multi-wavelength data collected with Fermi-LAT, Swift-XRT, Swift-UVOT, ATOM and WISE are also analysed. Significant variability is observed only in the Fermi-LAT $γ$-ray and Swift-XRT X-ray energy bands. Having a good multi-wavelength coverage from radio to very high energy, we performed a broadband modelling from two types of emission scenarios. The results from a one zone lepto-hadronic, and a multi-zone leptonic models are compared and discussed. On the grounds of energetics, our analysis favours a leptonic multi-zone model. Models associated to the X-ray variability constraint supports previous results suggesting a BL Lac nature of PKS 0625-354, with, however, a large-scale jet structure typical of a radio galaxy. △ Less

The branching fractions of $D^0\to π^-μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to π^0μ^+ν_μ$ are measured to be $(0.272 \pm 0.008_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.006_{\rm syst.})\%$ and $(0.350 \pm 0.011_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.010_{\rm syst.})\%$, respectively, where the former is of much improved precision compared to previous results and the latter is determined for the first time. Using these results along with previous BESIII measurements of $D^{0(+)}\to π^{-(0)}e^+ν_e$, we calculate the branching fraction ratios to be ${\mathcal R}^0\equiv {\mathcal B}_{D^{0}\to π^{-}μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^{0}\to π^{-}e^+ν_e}=0.922\pm 0.030_{\rm stat.}\pm0.022_{\rm syst.}$ and ${\mathcal R}^+\equiv {\mathcal B}_{D^{+}\to π^{0}μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^{+}\to π^{0}e^+ν_e}=0.964\pm 0.037_{\rm stat.}\pm0.026_{\rm syst.}$, which are compatible with the theoretical expectation of lepton flavor universality within $1.7σ$ and $0.5σ$, respectively. We also examine the branching fraction ratios in different four-momentum transfer square regions, and find no significant deviations from the standard model predictions. △ Less

Of those, only 50 SNRs are coincident with a H.E.S.S source and in 8 cases the very high-energy (VHE) emission is firmly identified as an SNR. The H.E.S.S. GPS provides us with a legacy for SNR population study in VHE $γ$-rays and we use this rich data set to extract VHE flux upper limits from all undetected SNRs. Overall, the derived flux upper limits are not in contradiction with the canonical CR paradigm. Assuming this paradigm holds true, we can constrain typical ambient density values around shell-type SNRs to $n\leq 7~\textrm{cm}^\textrm{-3}$ and electron-to-proton energy fractions above 10~TeV to $ε_\textrm{ep} \leq 5\times 10^{-3}$. Furthermore, comparisons of VHE with radio luminosities in non-interacting SNRs reveal a behaviour that is in agreement with the theory of magnetic field amplification at shell-type SNRs. △ Less

Recently, the high-energy (HE, 0.1-100 GeV) $γ$-ray emission from the object LMC P3 in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) has been discovered to be modulated with a 10.3-day period, making it the first extra-galactic $γ$-ray binary. Aims. This work aims at the detection of very-high-energy (VHE, >100 GeV) $γ$-ray emission and the search for modulation of the VHE signal with the orbital pe… ▽ More Context. Recently, the high-energy (HE, 0.1-100 GeV) $γ$-ray emission from the object LMC P3 in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) has been discovered to be modulated with a 10.3-day period, making it the first extra-galactic $γ$-ray binary. Aims. This work aims at the detection of very-high-energy (VHE, >100 GeV) $γ$-ray emission and the search for modulation of the VHE signal with the orbital period of the binary system. Methods. LMC P3 has been observed with the High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.); the acceptance-corrected exposure time is 100 h. The data set has been folded with the known orbital period of the system in order to test for variability of the emission. Energy spectra are obtained for the orbit-averaged data set, and for the orbital phase bin around the VHE maximum. Results. VHE $γ$-ray emission is detected with a statistical significance of 6.4 $σ$. The data clearly show variability which is phase-locked to the orbital period of the system. Periodicity cannot be deduced from the H.E.S.S. data set alone. The orbit-averaged luminosity in the $1-10$ TeV energy range is $(1.4 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{35}$ erg/s. A luminosity of $(5 \pm 1) \times 10^{35}$ erg/s is reached during 20% of the orbit. HE and VHE $γ$-ray emissions are anti-correlated. LMC P3 is the most luminous $γ$-ray binary known so far. △ Less

Abstract: The decay $J/ψ\rightarrow γγφ$ is studied using a sample of $1.31 \times10^{9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector. Two structures around 1475 MeV/c$^2$ and 1835 MeV/c$^2$ are observed in the $γφ$ invariant mass spectrum for the first time. The concerns are addressed by adopting a new simulation tool, FLUKA, and planning measurements of muon fluxes from the dump with its existing shielding around t… ▽ More This document is an update to the proposal PR12-16-001 Dark matter search in a Beam-Dump eXperiment (BDX) at Jefferson Lab submitted to JLab-PAC44 in 2016 reporting progress in addressing questions raised regarding the beam-on backgrounds. The concerns are addressed by adopting a new simulation tool, FLUKA, and planning measurements of muon fluxes from the dump with its existing shielding around the dump. First, we have implemented the detailed BDX experimental geometry into a FLUKA simulation, in consultation with experts from the JLab Radiation Control Group. The FLUKA simulation has been compared directly to our GEANT4 simulations and shown to agree in regions of validity. The FLUKA interaction package, with a tuned set of biasing weights, is naturally able to generate reliable particle distributions with very small probabilities and therefore predict rates at the detector location beyond the planned shielding around the beam dump. Second, we have developed a plan to conduct measurements of the muon ux from the Hall-A dump in its current configuration to validate our simulations. △ Less

For the first time, the target asymmetry, $T$, has been measured in photoproduction from the decay $ω\toπ^+π^-π^0$, using a transversely-polarized targe… ▽ More The photoproduction of $ω$ mesons off the proton has been studied in the reaction $γp\to p\,ω$ using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) and the frozen-spin target (FROST) in Hall B at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. For the first time, the target asymmetry, $T$, has been measured in photoproduction from the decay $ω\toπ^+π^-π^0$, using a transversely-polarized target with energies ranging from just above the reaction threshold up to 2.8 GeV. Significant non-zero values are observed for these asymmetries, reaching about 30-40% in the third-resonance region. New measurements for the photon-beam asymmetry, $Σ$, are also presented, which agree well with previous CLAS results and extend the world database up to 2.1 GeV. These data and additional $ω$-photoproduction observables from CLAS were included in a partial-wave analysis within the Bonn-Gatchina framework. Despite several attempts to constrain its nature, no plausible counterpart has been found so far at X-ray and MeV/GeV $γ$-ray energies, and the source remains unidentified. An analysis of 145-hour of observations of HESS J1741-302 at VHEs has revealed a steady and relatively weak TeV source ($\sim$1$\%$ of the Crab Nebula flux), with a spectral index of $Γ$ = 2.3 $\pm$ 0.2$_{\text{stat}}$ $\pm$ 0.2$_{\text{sys}}$, extending to energies up to 10 TeV without any clear signature of a cut-off. In a hadronic scenario, such a spectrum implies an object with particle acceleration up to energies of several hundred TeV. Contrary to most H.E.S.S. unidentified sources, the angular size of HESS J1741-302 is compatible with the H.E.S.S. point spread function at VHEs, with an extension constrained to be below 0.068$^{\circ}$ at a 99$\%$ confidence level. The $γ$-ray emission detected by H.E.S.S. can be explained both within a hadronic scenario, due to collisions of protons with energies of hundreds of TeV with dense molecular clouds, and in a leptonic scenario, as a relic pulsar wind nebula, possibly powered by the middle-aged (20 kyr) pulsar PSR B1737-30. Abstract: We search for high-energy gamma-ray emission from the binary neutron star merger GW170817 with the H.E.S.S. Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes. The observations presented here have been obtained starting only 5.3h after GW170817. The H.E.S.S. target selection identified regions of high probability to find a counterpart of the gravitational wave event. The first of these regions contained the counter… ▽ More We search for high-energy gamma-ray emission from the binary neutron star merger GW170817 with the H.E.S.S. Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes. The observations presented here have been obtained starting only 5.3h after GW170817. The H.E.S.S. target selection identified regions of high probability to find a counterpart of the gravitational wave event. The first of these regions contained the counterpart SSS17a that has been identified in the optical range several hours after our observations. We can therefore present the first data obtained by a ground-based pointing instrument on this object. A subsequent monitoring campaign with the H.E.S.S. telescopes extended over several days, covering timescales from 0.22 to 5.2 days and energy ranges between $270\,\mathrm{GeV}$ to $8.55\,\mathrm{TeV}$. No significant gamma-ray emission has been found. The derived upper limits on the very-high-energy gamma-ray flux for the first time constrain non-thermal, high-energy emission following the merger of a confirmed binary neutron star system. △ Less

We scattered 6-GeV, longitudinally polarized electrons off longitudinally polarized protons in a cryogenic $^{14}$NH$_3$ target, and extracted double and single target spin asymmetries for $ep\rightarrow e^\primeπ^0X$ in multidimensional bins in four-momentum transfer ($1.0<Q^2<3.2$ GeV$^2$), Bjorken-$x$ ($0.12<x<0.48$), hadron energy fraction ($0.4<z<0.7$), transverse pion momentum ($0<P_T<1.0$ GeV), and azimuthal angle $φ_h$ between the lepton scattering and hadron production planes. We extracted asymmetries as a function of both $x$ and $P_T$, which provide access to transverse-momentum distributions of longitudinally polarized quarks. The double spin asymmetries depend weakly on $P_T$. The $\sin 2φ_h$ moments are zero within uncertainties, which is consistent with the expected suppression of the Collins fragmentation function. The observed $\sinφ_h$ moments suggest that quark gluon correlations are significant at large $x$. △ Less

The scientific potential of CTA is extremely broad: from understanding the role of relativistic cosmic particles to the search for dark matter. CTA is an explorer of the extreme universe, probing environments from the immediate neighbourhood of black ho… ▽ More The Cherenkov Telescope Array, CTA, will be the major global observatory for very high energy gamma-ray astronomy over the next decade and beyond. The scientific potential of CTA is extremely broad: from understanding the role of relativistic cosmic particles to the search for dark matter. CTA is an explorer of the extreme universe, probing environments from the immediate neighbourhood of black holes to cosmic voids on the largest scales. Covering a huge range in photon energy from 20 GeV to 300 TeV, CTA will improve on all aspects of performance with respect to current instruments. The observatory will operate arrays on sites in both hemispheres to provide full sky coverage and will hence maximize the potential for the rarest phenomena such as very nearby supernovae, gamma-ray bursts or gravitational wave transients. With 99 telescopes on the southern site and 19 telescopes on the northern site, flexible operation will be possible, with sub-arrays available for specific tasks. CTA will have important synergies with many of the new generation of major astronomical and astroparticle observatories. Multi-wavelength and multi-messenger approaches combining CTA data with those from other instruments will lead to a deeper understanding of the broad-band non-thermal properties of target sources. The CTA Observatory will be operated as an open, proposal-driven observatory, with all data available on a public archive after a pre-defined proprietary period. Scientists from institutions worldwide have combined together to form the CTA Consortium. This Consortium has prepared a proposal for a Core Programme of highly motivated observations. The programme, encompassing approximately 40% of the available observing time over the first ten years of CTA operation, is made up of individual Key Science Projects (KSPs), which are presented in this document. △ Less

The decay branching fractions of $χ_{c0,c2} \to γγ$ are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toγγ) = (1.93 \pm 0.08 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.05)\times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toγγ) = (3.10 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.11)\times 10^{-4} $, which correspond to two-photon decay widths of $Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c0}) = 2.03 \pm 0.08 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.13 ~\rm{keV}$ and $Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c2}) = 0.60 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.04 ~\rm{keV}$ with a ratio of $\mathcal{R}=Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c2})/Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c0})= 0.295 \pm 0.014 \pm 0.007 \pm 0.027$, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic and associated with the uncertainties of $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686)\toγχ_{c0,c2})$ and the total widths $Γ(χ_{c0,c2})$, respectively. For the forbidden decay of $χ_{c1}\toγγ$, no signal is observed, and an upper limit on the two-photon width is obtained to be $Γ_{γγ}(χ_{c1})<5.3 ~\rm{eV}$ at the 90\% confidence level. The ratio of the two-photon widths between helicity-zero and helicity-two components in the decay $χ_{c2}\toγγ$ is also measured to be $f_{0/2} = Γ^{λ=0}_{γγ}(χ_{c2})/Γ^{λ=2}_{γγ}(χ_{c2}) = (0.0 \pm 0.6 \pm 1.2)\times 10^{-2}$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. △ Less

Two commonly used representations are used to describe the Dalitz plot density. We find that an assumption of a linear amplitude does not describe the data well. A small deviation of the obtained matrix elements between $η^{\prime}\toηπ^{+}π^{-}$ and $η^{\prime}\toηπ^{0}π^{0}$ is probably caused by the mass difference between charged and neutral pions or radiative corrections. No cusp structure in $η^{\prime}\toηπ^{0}π^{0}$ is observed. △ Less

Measurements of the branching fractions for the semi-leptonic decays $D^+_s\toφe^{+}ν_{e}$, $φμ^{+}ν_μ$, $ημ^{+}ν_μ$ and $η'μ^{+}ν_μ$

Abstract: By analyzing 482 pb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s=4.009$ GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the %absolute branching fractions for the semi-leptonic decays $D_{s}^{+}\to φe^{+}ν_{e}$, $φμ^{+}ν_μ$, $ημ^{+}ν_μ$ and $η'μ^{+}ν_μ$ to be ${\mathcal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toφe^{+}ν_{e})=(2.26\pm0.45\pm0.09)$\%,… ▽ More By analyzing 482 pb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s=4.009$ GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the %absolute branching fractions for the semi-leptonic decays $D_{s}^{+}\to φe^{+}ν_{e}$, $φμ^{+}ν_μ$, $ημ^{+}ν_μ$ and $η'μ^{+}ν_μ$ to be ${\mathcal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toφe^{+}ν_{e})=(2.26\pm0.45\pm0.09)$\%, ${\mathcal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toφμ^{+}ν_μ)=(1.94\pm0.53\pm0.09)$\%, ${\mathcal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toημ^{+}ν_μ)=(2.42\pm0.46\pm0.11)$\% and ${\mathcal B}(D_{s}^{+}\toη'μ^{+} ν_μ) = (1.06\pm0.54\pm0.07)$\%, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Determination of the number of $ψ(3686)$ events at BESIII

Abstract: The numbers of $ψ(3686)$ events accumulated by the BESIII detector for the two rounds of data taking during 2009 and 2012 are determined to be $(107.0\pm0.8)\times 10^6$ and $(341.1\pm 2.1)\times 10^6$, respectively, by counting inclusive hadronic events, where the uncertainty is dominated by systematics and the statistical uncertainty is negligible. Study of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays to $π^+π^-η^\prime$

Abstract: Using the data samples of $1.31\times 10^9$ $J/ψ$ events and $4.48\times 10^8$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, partial wave analyses on the decays $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686) \to π^+π^-η^\prime$ are performed with a relativistic covariant tensor amplitude approach. The dominant contribution is found to be $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays to $ρη^\prime$. In the $J/ψ$ decay, the branching frac… ▽ More Using the data samples of $1.31\times 10^9$ $J/ψ$ events and $4.48\times 10^8$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, partial wave analyses on the decays $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686) \to π^+π^-η^\prime$ are performed with a relativistic covariant tensor amplitude approach. The dominant contribution is found to be $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays to $ρη^\prime$. In the $J/ψ$ decay, the branching fraction ${\cal B}(J/ψ\to ρη^\prime)$ is determined to be $(7.90\pm0.19(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.49(\mathrm{sys}))\times 10^{-5}$. Two solutions are found in the $ψ(3686)$ decay, and the corresponding branching fraction ${\cal B}(ψ(3686)\to ρη^\prime)$ is $(1.02\pm0.11(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.24(\mathrm{sys}))\times 10^{-5}$ for the case of constructive interference, and $(5.69\pm1.28(\mathrm{stat})\pm2.36(\mathrm{sys}))\times 10^{-6}$ for destructive interference. As a consequence, the ratios of branching fractions between $ψ(3686)$ and $J/ψ$ decays to $ρη^\prime$ are calculated to be $(12.9\pm1.4(\mathrm{stat})\pm3.1(\mathrm{sys}))$\% and $(7.2\pm1.6(\mathrm{stat})\pm3.0(\mathrm{sys}))$\%, respectively. We also determine the inclusive branching fractions of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays to $π^+π^-η^\prime$ to be $(1.36\pm0.02(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.08(\mathrm{sys}))\times 10^{-4}$ and $(1.51\pm0.14(\mathrm{stat})\pm 0.23(\mathrm{sys}))\times 10^{-5}$, respectively. △ Less

Search for the rare decay $D^+ \to D^0 e^+ν_e$

Abstract: We search for the rare decay $D^+\to D^0 e^+ν_{e}$, using a data set with an integrated luminosity of 2.93 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage rings. No signals are observed. We set the upper limit on the branching fraction for $D^+\to D^0 e^+ν_e$ to be $1.0\times 10^{-4}$ at the 90\% confidence level. Abstract: Using a sample of $447.9\times 10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009 and 2012, we study the decays $χ_{c0,2}\to$ $η'η'$ and $ηη'$. The decays $χ_{c2}\toη'η'$, $χ_{c0}\toηη'$ and $χ_{c2}\toηη'$ are observed for the first time with statistical significances of $9.6σ$, $13.4σ$ and $7.5σ$, respectively. The branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toη'η') =(2.19\pm0.03\pm0.14)\times10^{-3}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toη'η') = (4.76\pm0.56\pm0.38)\times10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toηη') = (8.92\pm0.84\pm0.65)\times10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toηη') = (2.27\pm0.43\pm0.25)\times10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The precision for the measurement of $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toη'η')$ is significantly improved compared to previous measurements. Based on the measured branching fractions, the role played by the doubly and singly Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka disconnected transition amplitudes for $χ_{c0,2}$ decays into pseudoscalar meson pairs can be clarified. △ Less
